Hey everyone, hoping I could get a word about this:

Just picked up the retail cd’s, got it installed, but now there is a MASSIVE download, about 60k packets. Is this just the patch that didnt make it to the cd’s or did it not install properly? The install only took like 10 mins.

The game has been patched almost daily since launch…

Also those CDs, while “new”, were probably made from a build of the game that was at least a month old by the time the game officially launched.

So, no, it’s not surprising that you still had to download a bunch of new data.

Did you take a look at how much data is even on the disc? I bought the digital download back in April or so, so I can’t check. My GW2 install is 16.4 GB, so unless its on Blu-ray format or there’s 3-4 DVD’s I don’t see how they could contain the whole game.

I’d be surprised if they really put much of the game on them in the first place, because as Hostile pointed out, it would be an exercise in futility. It might not be much more than the game’s launcher.
