So, have you been able to download the ~17.5 gb data file yet (just checking)?
Also, you may want to temporarily disable any overclocking until solved.
Nope. i downloaded the 21mb file from my account page. when i load the file up it just gives me the message everytime.
oh no iv’e not overclocked anything.
Okay.
Let’s test this:
Run msconfig, disable all startup programs. Restart your comp, download a new copy of te installer file, then (I know you said you did this) run this fresh copy of the installer as administrator.
You can re-enable after all is done if this works.
kk ive found an older installer which is running okay at the moment. and now its downloading the client woo. silly new installer . kk cheers for your help and im sorry i wasted your time ;(
i did actually try that but not a fresh copy. Hmm ill give it a go. at least there will be an answer for the future.
No problem at all, I wouldn’t be here if I couldn’t be, so no waste! I just like being able to help a fellow gamer out. Please post back if you have any further issues
I’ll check in a bit later.
Kk no luck with that. i will just stick to this other installer. very strange and annoying but oh well.
So, we’re not working again?
Oh no sorry. the old installer is working. the one you download from your account page is not. but it doesn’t matter the client is being installed from the older installer now.

got it from here at the bottom.
I see, cool. Okay then, post back if anything else
Bizarre, this deserves a bump in case others have the same problem. I doubt there are many links to older clients out there.

Hope you’re up and playing Grouch
It really is bizarre, I wouldn’t have thought that either. O.o
This may still help people.
i have tryed a total of 4 install / reinstall here in last 3 hours
from link above and from site here both w same results stuck @ 99 %
this is a rather frustrating problem
and it certainly doesn’t help getting automated responses
i have read across different sites numerous " fixes " and really none are doing jack
this worked for me hopefully it helps others
I’d like you to first locate and delete your local.dat file which is located in your Documents > Guild Wars 2 folder. Once this is done, reboot your computer and launch Guild Wars 2 again. After seeing the 1 file remaining message, a secondary protocol should kick in to download the file from the backup system. This usually takes about 10 minutes.

Hey kking, the 99% (1 file remaining) issue and the issue the op was having are different problems.
If you posted that, you might have even been given the correct response to it since we’ve helped peeps with that before, including the Anet support staff. (many threads about it)
But I’m glad to hear you got your game running.
I have the same problem on my laptop. Although I got a second problem as well. As soon as I run my GW2 launcher, it shows the launcher quickly (2 or 3 sec) and it disappears to the background. I can’t open the launcher again, but I can see it is downloading. The gw2.dat reaches a maximum of 16.9gb but it doesn’t finish the install. Does anyone have any clue if this is connected with this particular case?
That’s interesting muscula. It seems to be a different issue though.
Check your task manager after it (the launcher) disappears to see if gw2 is still running. But also, please post your complete system specs for us.
I can’t even get the setup file to open, and trying to download it again claims that “virus scan has failed.” I don’t care about the virus scan, I want to download the game launcher!
