That processor is used in netbooks and low end laptops. At 1.6GHz it’s not sufficient to play Guild Wars 2. You might be able to squeak by at the lowest resolution and lowest settings but I wouldn’t bet money on it.

Low end? How is that low end? I think its better than what I have which is Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P7350 and I can play on the low settings with this? Not trying to sound like I know everything because I don’t. Just need some more light shed on this before I make a final decision.

If your planning on playing GW2 on a laptop then it’s not going to end well. Especially, if it has an Amd cpu.

God no. You’d be better off taking a hammer and hitting yourself in the crotch. Seriously, the whole AMD vs. Nvidia thing is still something to debate..but the AMD vs. Intel thing was settled long ago, AMD makes horrible, horrible CPU’s compared to what intel offers these days. Never, ever buy AMD if there is an option between the two, at least until AMD releases an entirely new product line..if ever.

Nothing wrong with choosing Amd.
What resolution are you going to be running at?
If you’re around 1440 × 900 or under you’ll do ok. Above that and you’ll be stretching it.

Nothing but tears will come from going AMD with this. If you must have a notebook with an intergrated, non dedicated CPU, at least look for an Nvidia based one.

IMO (and have had this opinion for a while) AMD should just concentrate on making great GPUs – and perhaps make just enough CPUs to keep Intel in check.

This way perhaps AMD/ATI would have a decent driver programming team, and come out with driver updates more than every 1-2 months (I don’t count CAPs, sorry). Their GPU hardware is solid but after being with Team Red for several generations I can say all of this with honesty…I also used to build AMD CPU based systems, too – back in the day when they were comparable to Intel. The sad fact is I haven’t touched their CPUs since Intel released their first generation Core processor and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

These guys are right though, stick with Intel if you’re looking for a modern performance-oriented CPU.

That A6-3410MX may be new but it’s a low power, low performance piece made for netbooks and low end laptops. It’s designed for max battery life not max gaming performance.

The laptop with the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P7350 probably has a crappy video chip which you neglected to tell us which you have. Now with the A6-3410MX you’ll be trading problems. Crappy CPU (Which GW2 relies on) for a better graphics processor. It may run other games better than the Intel system but it’s not likely to push Guild Wars 2 very well.

Anyway, good luck.

The AMD A6-3410MX is a mobile chip meaning for a laptop. It will meet the minimum requirements, but I would not expect it to play very well(30-40ish fps with low to medium settings and that is a standing still environment with no combat). The point is if your going to buy something new then I suggest always going 15-30% above whatever your average gaming settings would be. In your case going a little above my recommended upgrade path is kind of needed. The A6 starts at 1.7ghz and oc to 2.4ghz. The game for recommended settings requires a dual core with 2.6ghz or higher. The point being is gw2 will not use more than 2 cores. It is already considered under the recommended setting ghz even though it is a quad-core processor. Your everyday needs such as being a multitasker for instance would increase, but nothing incredible gaming wise.

Your current dual core processor meets the bare minimum, but you wouldn’t notice a difference gaming wise by upgrading. If the A6 laptop came with a decent dedicated graphics card then you might see a few higher fps from what I stated, but not by much. The cpu would bottleneck the dedicated graphics card depending on what it is exactly. There is software that lets you oc the A-series cpu’s above their current cpu speed, but I wouldn’t recommend oc a cpu like that in a laptop. I have seen plenty do it though. It is your money in the end. I don’t think you would be happy with it though.

I don’t see this laptop lasting very long considering its specs and lack of dedicated graphics. If you have to have a laptop and are not willing to get a desktop. My suggestion is save up for something better. I am more than happy to assist you on the matter if need be?

EDIT: And I just checked the video card I have now and its not even on that list….its archived which makes me think even more that the Samsung is the better of the two.

Notebook check is alright, but their numbers are very skewed when it comes to fps benchmarks. They tend to get the info out as fast as possible to give you the very basic test of what you might see in a game. My numbers would be about accurate when it came to guild wars then. Low to medium settings running around 30-40 out of combat. I’d say in the low to high twenties in events. The lag would be very noticeable to me anyways.

Btw, I know your old laptop is basically crap now when your comparing the two( no offense :P ), but I just can’t justify that for a decent gaming experience just because you can afford it now. I would save up for something even better than that like the asus rog series or something. This is just my opinion though. I would rather save up for something 100% better than 50%. This is just my logic on technology in general.

I’m willing to bet in events you’ll get the same FPS or less. I have an I7 with a 570M and when tons of people are around spamming a boss I drop to 20-30 FPS. So do the math.

The problem is you seem to be overly excited to get a couple extra FPS when in the end you’ll be sorry. It’s almost October and black friday is near. You’ll be able to get double the laptop for the same price on a sale if you just chill and wait.

I was actually in the same situation as you a few weeks ago and was just trying to get something better. I almost settled on something not so good but found a killer deal on an MSI GT780DXR that’s normally $1800 for $1000.
