I have no issue logging in and playing, but I recently deleted my necromancer and wanted to make a new one…upon the last step of the character creation an error message pops up telling me there was an issue reaching the server and that I should disable firewalls etc… then when i try again its telling me I have a network issue (Which I don’t)

Any ideas on what this is? Or am I not the only one?

Good to know that it’s nothing on my end then at least, was still hoping on starting that character today so I could level him for WvW tonight.

Same for me. I’m saddened because I want to use that name I already had when I deleted a character to remake a new one and don’t want to lose it.

What’s funny is I deleted a character, remade one with different profession and same name, did the opening sequence, logged out to create another character, and that’s when I hit the problem…I’m really confused.

yes, the character I’m trying to make does not have the same name.

Ahh okay, then it must just be their servers for some reason. Heard a lot of people complaining about crashes, I didn’t run into those, but hey, instead I get this.

Well, we did all delete a character. Are you trying to fill up the last character slot you have? I’m worried that there might be some issue where there’s a delay for a recently cleared character slot to become usable

Yes, mine is the last slot. However, there’s never been a delay before.

Yea, mines the last slot as well. Never had a delay either, but now there’s a black screen short before I actually can select my race.

I’m getting the login error when I try to create an engineer,
but can login (with other existing characters),
kinda weird

but it was locked, even though the problem is still happening, so….

i thought i was just the only one experiencing this. ANet, please have this fix. thanks!

lol yea that is weird…I don’t know what it is with character creation atm.

Its not so much that I can’t log in (that works fine) its more so that I’m unable to create a character, because on the last step the error log in message appears (even though I could play on my other, already existing characters)

I agree on TendererLemon; I can perfectly login with my other characters.

My connection issue only pertains to character creation. I make a new character, get to the last step and it gives me Error Code 42:0:0:0:101. I can log in to any of my three other characters, no issues outside of creating a new character. If I use a name already in use, it will still tell me to pick a new name, but if it’s not, I assume I get this message. I’m perfectly fine waiting however long, I can still play, but I would like to know what could be causing this issue. US server – Stormbluff Isle. It’s only my fourth slot. They closed the other thread shortly after telling us to go there. (lol)

This isn’t a login issue and isn’t the same error code as the one in the link you gave. It’s a character creation error. We can log in just fine and stay logged in.

Yup, Naiad def hit it with his description of it. Only I’m more concerned about getting it resolved since I wanted to get my necromancer to 30 at least for tonights WvW since I’m planning on playing with friends.

This is happening to me too and I’m making my first character, as I only bought the game a few hours ago…

Ouch that sucks Vinetrix. Just don’t let it discourage you, trust me the game is well worth waiting on a resolution to this!

Yup, just character creator for me, as well

I would love a timeframe on this…I don’t want to go and do things to come back and find out it worked 5 minutes after I left lol

kitten , this sucks. Took the afternoon off to play this. Same exact issue after character creation. Oh well…

I have tonight and tomorrow off to play this… Been wanting to buy it for ages. Hopefully it’s sorted soon

Yep. My wife just bought the game and is having the same issue.

I am having the same issues. I JUST deleted one of my toons and tried to remake one, and I get this code. I logged in to see if my net was just having issues and its not.

What is causing this issue ANet?

I thought I was the only one having this issue. At first i thought i just lost connection so I restarted the client, same message appeared. I tried like 5 times with same results. wasted an hour. bah!

Just purchased and downloaded the client. I can’t create my first character. I go through the creation wizard. The client is able to reject names that I try, “Name is already taken”. Once I pick a name that isn’t taken, the client says “Unable to contact login server”. After that, if I try to recreate again, without restarting, it says “Check your internet connection”. Seems like some character creation server has bit it.

I’m glad I am not on my own on this, but it is very annoying

Got the same thing myself. Deleted one and can’t make another. Different class, race, name, and everything…

I’m having this issue as well. I deleted a character and tried to make another character and now I’m getting this message. I have two other blank character slots. Getting the same two error messages everyone else in this thread is.

Same here, cannot create a new guardian.

I really wish I hadn’t deleted my level 5 sylvari necro just to make a human now =/

well at least im not the only one… lol I did everything I could do besides uninstall the game and reinstall which I was about to do before I decided to check the forms… w.e. guess ill just wait with the rest of u. hope this gets fixed soon im bored!
