Guild Wars 2

So after today’s patch every time I try to log in my screen turns black and D3D crashes, so I have to run the dxdiag tool and re-enable it to be able to play something else.

Today was the day of the big patch, I know patch days are rough around the edges but this is too much. I don’t understand how you manged to roll out a patch that crashes my drivers. I’ve got a friend who used to run the game at a low spec PC like mine and he has the same issue, the game simply will not run anymore.

I’m using -repair at the moment in hopes that after waking up I can play, but I think this is wishful thinking…

I usually don’t post patch-whine-threads, in fact I never have but this is kitten me off. Even error 37 was better than this even if that game sucked kitten donkeys.

some things to try

update directx manually (google for the download from ms’s site)

update your video drivers

update your audio drivers( i know this sounds crazy but, i have had audio drivers cause stuff like you talk about…..)

run ccleaner over the system cleanup both files and regestry problems.

run a chkdsk on your windows drive and whatever drive you have gw2 installed on(for most thats the same drive, for true gamers, that would be seperate drives)

Did everything even before posting. The problem was the Local dat file as usual. Only problem now is that I cannot log in, but hey at least it runs.

My blessings go to the overly sane individual who decided that your controls shouldn’t be included in the Local.dat file. That person probably saved thousands of hours across thousands of people who had to purge that nightmarish existence.
