Many Disconnects Since 12/14 Patch
same problem here on Desolation, but just for a few ppl :P
I have also noticed this but it has only happened since the patch before that everything was working just fine.
I’ve been running into the same problem too and it is getting really frustrating constantly getting dc’ed in the middle of wintersday activities.
I’ve also started having this issue of frequent disconnects since the latest patch.
Just another player reporting frequent disconnects and lag problems in the game. It’s a new problem for me, as well.
My LAN connection is wireless, using WPA security.
Running PingPlotter produces interesting results: it traces from my network to NCSoft’s 64.25.X.X network, but always shows 100% packet loss before reaching the specific address reported by the in-game /ip command. When I say “always”, I mean that in a dozen or so tests, I see 100% packet loss every time on the 64.25.×.x network, even when I can move my character around and interact with things. I assume that’s because the host that reports the ip address and the hosts that provide the character-related services are different.
As a representative example, here’s the tail end of a trace made just now, while my character was able to interact with things (the IP reported by the /ip command was 64.25.33.33):
4.49.197.34
64.25.32.9
64.25.32.26
64.25.32.82
Destination Address Unreachable 100% packet loss
I can sometimes play for up to fifteen or twenty minutes, but at other times I lose connection to the game within three to five minutes of connecting. An explorable-mode dungeon run last night was pretty painful; I lost count of how many times I disconnected overall, but I remember it was more than a dozen times in a single boss fight.
Obviously, that’s going to be a bit of a deterrent to continued play, which is a shame, because I do love this game.
Yeah, no major issues until recently. I thought initially it must be because of Holidays and the event, but it is happening at times I know the net would not be congested.
At the moment I can guarantee a DC by opening a Present in Queensdale. It will lag up, jutter a few commands then just kick me.
I am having similar issues.
Tried to run trixx infinirarium (Divinity’s Reach) twice but got lag and then dumped to the menu screen half way through both times. then back in Divinity’s Reach I got a black screen which I ended up having to force quit from.
I also have had no problems before the 12/14 Patch.
Same issue for me. I’ve been attempting to do a personal story mission for about an hour and a half. I either get dropped and wind up dead or simply placed outside the instance every time it happens, which is every two minutes or so. It’s exclusive to GW2, as I’m having no problems running other games or connectivity issues with other programs.
THe “best” thing about it is, that no advice is helpful and nobody cares. I have this problem since Halloween content
Have the same problem. It started recently. After 5-30 min of gameplay I cannot interact with anything (same as OP), but I still see chat and can use it.
I’ve been having these ever since like… 10th of last month?
However after playing some Minecraft I noticed the same happens there.
At winter rooms are hot and games stress routers more than just browsing.
I’m thinking maybe hot room+GW2 puts so much stress on routers that the older ones are just starting to die.
Of course an another possibility is that Java or Flash or something is causing these problems.
Something many people have.
I know for certain that Flash Player affects GW2, for example.
Dunno why exactly (Black Lion Company?) but yeah.
Well, considering I have refused to install Java or Flash on my PC because I use it exclusively for games and didn’t want their security flaws in my system… I’d be surprised if the solution lies in one of those.
In any case, I have the same problem. My computer is above and beyond minimum requirements, even updated my graphics driver thinking it might be on my end, but no. I log in, play fine, then after normal gameplay The Lag/FPS Drop starts. Sometimes I’ll rubberband, my skills will pulse without going off, people’s locations on the minimap go nuts, but I can still chat normally minus a few seconds delay. It is really starting to annoy me and makes the game pretty unplayable. The game will speed up and visually “catch me back up” after a few seconds but by then I’m usually dead or my team is farther along than I am.
If I queue up enough commands the server kicks me. I’ll try to get the error code next time, but I’ve searched it on google and had no luck.
I’ve only had this problem since the update. It’s not my router or internet; my boyfriend and I play together on the same network and he experiences nothing near what I do. His system is not as new, in terms of graphics, processor and memory, so I’m doubly annoyed.

Same here, DC and DC and DC
Same, though I hadn’t initially thought it was the patch…
Awh. :/
And yeah I’ve also had that things where chat works but game does, or vice versa.
One thing you could try is setting your computer’s power settings mode from Balanced to Best Performance.
Dunno if it helps anything but it’s worth a shot.
I could swear I had mine set that way ages ago, yet it was back to defaults. (Windows update?)
I’ve noticed a similar issue in roughly the same timeframe (didn’t really pay much attention to when it started, but it was fairly recently, and it did go from being pretty steady with the occasional easily-explained disconnect to frequent disconnects and no sign of issues with the rest of the internet connection for most of those disconnects).
There are times where it’s… relatively stable, others where it’s pretty much unplayable. The sign of a disconnect is pretty much as reported above – the character can move around (at least from the client’s perspective), but skills don’t activate and any other models on the screen stop moving with a couple of exceptions (I think I saw another PC running off into the distance during a disconnect once).
And yeah, Windows updates are a real kitten for resetting your computer to defaults…
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
I am having the exact same problem.
It only just started happening around Dec 21st, where previously I never had a single issue. Not one.
Now, every so often, it will be running just fine and then it will go thru what looks like lag. I will try to access buttons but nothing will respond or models will look like they are stuck walking in place or not at all. Soon after, it kicks me to character select.
Occasionally, I’ve been kicked all the way back to the launcher.
Also, all other online games work fine.
Rawr… T_T
I’m not getting disconnected, but I’m getting so much lag that the game is unplayable.
Send me an in-game mail for a guild invite!
Same issue as many of the other posters here
Nine Divines (ND)
Sorrow’s Furnace
I’v got 2 or 3 disconnects now since the Wintersday event began. But my biggest problem is the horrible lag which makes the game almost unplayable. Other players are warping around the map and when I try to fight it takes 1-5 sec before anything happens on my screen.
I’m not sure what it causing this as other online games (BF3, EVE, LoL…) work just fine.
Same here just random DC’s. Even if I just stand and do nothing I get DC in a while.
