Mini lags when fast turning the camera?
Try to put vertical sync on in the graphics options, maybe your framerate drops a bit, just test it. (Make sure you have vertical sync to use the 3D application settings in your nvidea properties checked.)
I’ve just bought a GTX 660 TI and struggling with the framerate and graphics options. Could you please let me know the settings that you use?
(edited by Fade.5983)
you mean ingame settings?
everything is set to the highest
the vertical sync doesn’t seem to help btw.
it’s a bit better after starting the game or loading a new map, but after a few seconds without becomes better.
i’m curious why this only happens after loading a new map or starting the game and becomes better after a bit
Turn down shadows and reflection, those eat CPU resources a lot and will lessen bottleneck effects. (see Part 4.1)
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
The drops, and how far they drop, are related to how fast your CPU and drive access are.
Also Reflections on max have a HUGE performance impact, most people have them ether off, or on terrain and sky. Shaodws also r better on High than Ultra.
Setting GW2.exe ot high priority on windows task manager can gain u a few fps and cna help with these fps drops ..also disabling core parking has helped some people.

CM Storm Stryker case | Seasonic 1000W PSU | Asux Xonar D2X & Logitech Z5500 Sound system |
Make sure you have the vertical sync in your nvidea settings set to use the 3D application settings.
I don’t have everyting at high, but get arround 20-30 fps. How do you get 70-80fps? :O
@Fade, maybe i have a better cpu than you
@topic: i see no reason why my cpu should be the problem, i didn’t had any lag with y old graphics card
vertical sync doesn’t help as stated before

This is the answer, coupled with the amount of video memory available. The framerate drop when turning the camera is due to resource loading.
My old Graphics card had 1GB of Memory, my new 2.
The CPU is the same, the drive is still an ssd.
The new Graphics card is faster in every way than the old card.
So, how can this be?
The explanation that it’s because of resource loading isn’t an explanation if there’s no explanation to why the new graphics card should be slower (and that only in GW2)
you used max settings on the 660ti, did you use max settings on the 6870?
settings like shadow and reflection when set to max will bog down the CPU affecting FPS. (see Part 4.2)

yes, i used max settings on the 6870 too
(maybe shadow not on ultra, but high)
Now i’ve got a fps arround 50-60. I’ve turned the shaders down and vertical sync of!
The shaders need a lot of cpu power
sadly that didn’t help, still the same problem for me.
it’s really annoying that I’ve to turn the camera slowly
Im having the EXACT same issue, I had a ati 6970 and upgraded to a nvidia GTX670, it constantly stutters when I enter a new area. Do you also get random fps drops for no reason? Even when you dont have alot going on?
People say its because this game is cpu bound but I know thats not the problem since Im running an intel 3930k.
i don’t know if i get random fps drops, or at least they’re not really that noticable.
mostly in new areas / when i just started the game
It’s a GW2 specific problem with nvidia drivers and gtx 6xx series.
To resolve fps drops when rotating camera:
- use nvidia drivers 306.23 or 306.63 DEV only (use Driver Sweepers for a correct installation)
- set in game reflections to “terran & sky” instead of “all”
All nvidia drivers from 306.97 to 310.xx series introduce this problem, i hope they will fix with 311.xx series

Im having the EXACT same issue, I had a ati 6970 and upgraded to a nvidia GTX670,
I do not think you can call this an upgrade …. .. oh well
http://www.hwcompare.com/12546/geforce-gtx-670-vs-radeon-hd-6970/
this game have issues with reflections , shaders and shadows no matter how powerful your system is … not efficient at multi-core either
i have a 6 cores ( physical) CPU and two GPU.. there is no difference in performance if i use one or two GPU… upgrading a decent GPU for another for GW2 is a waste of money .. with a intel 3930k there is nothing more you can do but to wait that A.net fix the game.
@Luisen:
Thanks for the tipp, this did it for me
I even get 50+ FPS now in Lions Arch (before about 30-35)
Only the first second ingame now it does lag, but i suppose this is normal xD
After that, everything runs more than smooth

Not to be rude, but do did you actually look at any benchmarks besides some on paper specs?

Thanks man, I’ll give that a shot
Heeey guys, i got the same problem to with my gtx 780.
i got around 100 – 180 fps ingame, but i also got the mini laggs
when turning my camera,
is the only way to fix this to downgrade my drivers?
