Q:
No bass from sound/music?
bump no one has this problem?
I had not noticed. It’s possible they did not use much LF in the game. Would be odd if this game and nothing else is missing frequencies on your system. Will try to pay attention if I play tonight.
You can really hear it when the game starts and the music starts to play.
There are some drums playing when the music starts and they have absolutely no bass at all.
Noone else has noticed this or does not have this problem?
Hi,
Shortly I will suggest a most obvious set of steps to try out. Please do not take offence when I do!
First, a list of some of the sound issues I had on my main rig that has built in sound (Realtek) and 5.1 audio via a logitech system – I forget the model just now and it is a bit late for me to go check;
1, Detatched sound – an NPC would be stood in front of my character (face to face) but the sound would seem to come from a way off in almost any direction.
2, Strange noices that seemed to have no distinct source – similar to (1,) but with no clear source.
3, Poor or no apparent BASS – just did not sound correct.
These where a few of the issues that seemed hardware related – other issues that seemed to be software related seemed to be fixed by the most recent patch.
Now for the obvious as it may seem – how I got my hardware related sound issues sorted;
1, Detatch 5.1 speaker system from rig.
2, Attach 5.1 speaker system to rig – ensuring all connections are good.
3, Start GW2 and scratch head as sound issues remain.
4, Track down and download the newest and correct sound driver AND software suite.
5, Remove all traces of software audio driver (on board sound) and audio software suite.
6, Restart rig (this seems to be important).
7, Install the new audio driver first then the new software suite. (Some installers do both at once).
8, Restart rig.
9, Set up audio as liked – adjusting speakers via both software suite and hardware. I used various music tracks to help with this and adjusted the volume and bass to my liking as I went.
10, Start GW2 and use in game preferences to set audio as liked.
It would be easy to assume you have tried all the above steps to solve the problem you are experiencing and it would be easy to assume I was ‘talking down’ to you – I truly have no intention to do so.
To state the obvious again; your next line of enquiry may be to send a ‘ticket’ directly to the AN technical help folk.
Regardless of what happens now, I hope you can resolve the audio issue yourself.

in my sig I’m using the Audiotrk Prodigy Cube External DAC with Edifier S330D 2.1 speakers.
There is more than enough bass coming from the game.
have a feeling that your soundcard might not be properly configured or the sound coming from the game is not 5.1 supported.
Test using headphones and see how it sounds.
2×8GB Crucial Ballistix 8-8-8-24 @ 1600 | Arc Midi R2 | Asus VE278Q 27" 1920×1080
Edifier S330D | Superlux 668B | Audiotrak Prodigy Cube | CMstorm Trigger | Logitech G500
Hmm,
No 5.1 support was suggested elswhere – I have no link.
Thing is, when I did the little routine seen above, the game rewarded me with much better sound that does seem to be 5.1 compatible (I could, of course, be wrong).
Testing with headphones could be a bit of a waste of time and give a somewhat incorrect or ‘false’ return. Depending on the configuration of said headphones – simple stereo or more complicated ‘gaming’ or ‘surround’ tins for example with software in account, the user will have differing experiences and almost certainly not the same as when using speakers not headphones.
I would first check the the sound card, onboard or ‘plug in’, configuration.
Thanks for the responds guys, but 1s and most important question.
I dont see any setting to change the audio from 5.1 to lets say stereo/4 speakers, etc.

Hello again,
The attachment ‘audio.jpg’ is a screen shot with the in game sound options shown. The settings shown are what I currently use in game to good affect. I have the ‘Audio Device’ menu expanded and the very top item is the device I use.
The two options that you may be more interested in are the ‘Audio Device’ and ‘Sound Quality’ settings.
First ‘Sound Quality’; try turning this up or down with the slider to see if that has any positive affect. This is probably not going to fix the bass problem but may be worth a try!
Second, and maybe more important, look through the drop down list of ‘Audio Device’; it is important to make sure that the game is using the correct device! This sounds like a ‘no brainer’ but in reality, the game could potentially play the sound through the wrong device but you would still hear it!
Both options seem unlikely to resolve the problem – give them a go any way.
The attachment ‘Realtek.jpg’ is, as you may have guessed, the audio manager of my rig that is accessed via the ‘Show hidden icons’ in the bottom right corner of Windows 7 in my case. You will see I have the ‘Speaker Configuration’ drop down menu extended. The option highlighted is ‘7.1 Speaker’ and it may seem odd that I am using that option for 5.1 surround! If I use the ‘5.1 Speaker’ option, my ‘Rear Pair’ do not work! Using 7.1 and turning off the side pair gives my rig full 5.1 – odd I know but true non the less.
If you are using ‘Realtek’ on board (built in to the motherboard) audio, you may need to totally uninstall the driver and manager and install the latest version suitable for your hardware and operating system.
You could be using an entirely different sound device – either on your mother board or as a separate plug in card. You may be able to download the most recent drivers / manager for your sound device and install them – again, uninstall the old before installing the new!
I have no other ideas or suggestions just now that may help. I do hope you get your rig sorted though as the game sounds great in surround. (Much better than using headphones plugged into (my) control speaker and muting the speakers!)

Thank you so much for your effort!
Only thing I am going to try is use the onboard sound card. (Creative X-Fi)
But I don’t think it’ll change much because I am also using an external PCI-E
Creative X-Fi but maybe the drivers from Gigabyte are better?
Surely the sound quality wont be the same, but I dont think I’ll be able to notice that.
I ll give it a try and I will report back.
Thanks again.
P.S. When I change options in the Audio Device (SPDIF, Default, etc) I always get audio! Looks like the game wont even let me change what audio device I want to use. Probably it’s only using the default device set by windows in the control panel.

Possibly, just possibly, there could be a problem with conflicting devices! If you go into device manager, it should show any conflicts.
Another thing to look at though it is probably not of much if any help is ‘Playback Devices’. Go to ‘Sound>Playback Devices’ and check each individual playback device properties and from the ‘Device usage’ ensure devices are ‘Use this device (enabled)’. Yeah, it sounds like a simple thing that most would check straight away but it is easily missed. Further to this, you could try turning off all playback devices then turning each one on separately – then trying GW2 (for each device)! This may seem not needed but could give a better picture of what is happening.
Any ways, like I wrote, I hope you get it sorted.
