Hey everyone, I’m new to the game and have been trying to get my graphics settings to their absolute best. I’ve been trying to enable Ambient Occlusion via Nvidia Inspector, but any setting I use (standard GW2 AO compatibility flag), it’s just not visible, even in comparison screenshots. I did notice, when taking the screens, that the appropriate AO shading in corners and crevices DOES appear for a split second when I hit Print Screen, but disappears immediately after and does not show up in the actual screenshot. Is there any remedy or setting for this? Has anyone at least experienced this same problem?

Running a GTX 670 OC’ed on 320.18 drivers.

Thanks ahead of time!

Driver forced ambient occlusion has been broken in this game since it was first implemented. I have never seen in work properly. Probably never will…

That’s too bad, the game looks pretty flat when you’re not in direct sunlight…I know there’s an existing issue with it not working at certain angles, but I didn’t think that would mean “not show up at all”. Could it be the area I’m in or is it equally this non-existent in the same way for everyone in every part of the game?

BTW, nice pair of cans, Optimus – I was gonna snag those Sennheisers but found a good deal on used Denon AH-D2000’s

OK so for anyone with this issue, AO works just fine IF the following things are not turned on, which will cause the disappearing act I experienced:

1. Reflections must be set to Terrain & Sky or lower. Reflect All kills AO.
2. You cannot force Transparency Supersampling AA via Nvidia control panel

Also, if using Nvidia inspector, I got really good looking results by using the Elder Scrolls: Skyrim AO compatibility hex flag instead of the default GW2 flag. Set it as high as your GPU can afford if you want more realistic shading and more detailed soft shadows in corners, etc… Hopefully if this game ever comes out with a DX11 patch, they’ll take the time to build AO into the game, or at least allow Reflect: All to be enabled simultaneously.

I still can’t see any difference when I used it… must be my computer. Anyway I’ll probably prefer supersampling over AO due to the large amount of jaggies in the game already.

And yeh, these Senns bring life to my ears =)
