I recently bought the digital version to find out it wont download at all. It pops up and says “0%” then red words come up saying the download has failed, to check my internet connection.

Well I was reading a few things an came across some solutions. I tried running WTFast, battleping, reseting my dns, google dns, opening ports, disabling AUC, turning off my firewall and all virus scanners. Still having the same problem.

If you have any suggestions, please help

  • Is windows updated?
  • Try doing a clean boot
  • Run a -diag on gw2.exe see what the results are.

I have a direct connection from the connection, I have not wireless card. What is a DMZ?

As far as firewall is, I have that disabled. Not sure what else would be blocking anything

you are connected to your router/modem, it has built-in firewall settings & NAT. DMZ is a feature in routers that will basically ignore all of it and expose you entirely to the internet. If your router has SPI enabled, disable that too, tends have problems with GW2.

You’ll have to read up your router’s manual on how as it varies between manufacturer/models. Should be similar to where you did your port forwarding.

There is also a firewall on your router too. http://portforward.com/ has instruction for numerous models.

Depends what brand/model you have, they are all different. You’re going to have to read up the manual. If its a modem/router provided by your ISP, you can have them help you or read their website for instructions.

If this doesn’t fix the problem, there is another option. If you know anyone who has the game already, you can copy their whole GW2 directory from their computer onto a portable drive and then copy that directory back onto your computer. This will save you the download and it will work (I keep a backup of the game at all times so I don’t have to re-download when I reinstall it).

Whether or not the game will work after that is another story, but if only the download is the issue, this would bypass the problem.

This would not resolve the issue as the problem is comminication is not reaching arenanet’s servers so even with a fully updated copy of the game on the computer the user would still not be able to login as the communication between the game client and arenanet’s login server is blocked.

Can you re-run the GameAdvisor with the DMZ setup, also a nice screenshot of the DMZ configuration page would be nice to confirm the settings are correct.

Probably want the DMZ to point to 192.168.1.5 (which is your desktop) 192.168.1.1 is the router’s IP.

Yes you want to tell the router to point the DMZ to your computers internal IP (192.168.1.5). Did you also remember to test with AVG disabled with the new DMZ now setup correctly?

Can you double check in the control panel > Programs & Features that AVG is not installed. I found this line in the text file that has me suspicious.

I may be incorrect, though it does look like AVG is installed.

If you bought your computer from a brand name they usually have recovery disk or option built into the computer. IF not, they should have provided you with the windows installation DVD

I think the Mcafee was the problem, did something off the acer site to disable. It finally started downloading. That you so much for your time and patients!!!
