Guild Wars 2

I’ve noticed some odd characters all throughout the text of the game for about the last month. I figured it was some sort of setting i accidentally tweaked perhaps but i just cant seem to figure it out. When i first installed the game i did not have this issue. it just appeared all of a sudden

When text is cut off such as when i open my friends list it will show something like this “Crucible of EterE” where that weird letter E(with a flat line above it) is where the text would start cutting off. i notice this all over the place and its driving me nuts. It’s also on my world map when i highlight a merchant for example. It will have 2 E’s when i highlight the merchant to see the description

I’ve also noticed the same thing with this character A(something weird floating above it). It’s usually all throughout the mail you receive after doing a renown heart quest usually spaced out between words. looksAsomethingAlikeAthisA

this problem is really annoying and im wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing? As i mentioned above i figured i might have just turned on some setting somewhere either in the game or in Windows or something perhaps but i just cant figure it out

EDIT: i tried inserting the actual characters in this forum post but they appear as ? instead of the character i input

I’m having a problem similar to this one..
When I receive mail from completing a Heart or storyline quest there’s an ? near the senders name.
Also when selecting Enemies that have more than one Ability there’s an ? between the abilities.

This is EXACTLY what im seeing! thanks for posting the screens. i can see you tried to paste the weird characters into the post as well but they come out as ?‘s instead of the E’s and A’s that you mean to describe

It has to do with the fonts you have on your machine versus what the game is set to display. I’m not too savvy on fonts (or fixing them) so, perhaps someone can elaborate further into this.

im sure its something silly like that which is why i never bothered re-installing etc. if someone knows how to get rid of this annoying issue theres at least 2 people here that would appreciate it!

I found a fix for it.
Game Menu> Options> Graphics Options> Interface size, set it to anything but Large.
I’m going to go ahead and post this as a bug on the bug forums.

i actually came to the same conclusion from reading a specific post elsewhere dating back to August. I’m assuming this has been a known issue to them since at least that time and im very surprised that it still is an issue. hopefully they fix it soon though. thanks for the help Gator!
