Sudden FPS drop.
Same here. Happened to me a few days back, restarted the computer and it workd fine. The same trick didn’t work today. I haven’t found anyone in my contacts list with the same problem so I’m completely lost.
I’ve tried lowering the graphic settings, repairing the client and even reinstalling. Nothing works.
After the last patch today my game too has suddenly dropped in FPS. Nothing changed in hardware or software, yet the game sticks to 10 FPS just about anywhere having graphics on auto-detect.
If I turn graphics settings to best performance the highest I can get is about 23 in a crowded area whereas before it would stay at about 50 fps. I’ve tried updating my graphics drivers but it didn’t work either. The mad king’s tower is now unplayable for me.
I’m running Windows 7 x64 with Service Pack 1 with 8 Gb of RAM and a Radeon HD6870 1Gb.

Ive got the same problem and im running an HD5870 my fps is 10 is all areas. Reinstalling drivers and or switching to old ones dont work I even tried reinstalling windows 7 and this did not work! Im clueless and im sure this is a issue Anet needs to fix.

Has a solution been found? i have the exact same trouble. I have a HD8970 2 gigs and can’t play the game. I just upgraded my drivers today to see if that would fix the issue, but it didn’t. Could it be that the issue is caused because i installed Win 8.1 last week?. Hope you guys release a fix patch soon.
I’ve submitted a ticket and was asked to run a test through Game Advisor, but I’m unable to update it through the support desk. I tried setting up a password for the support account but the mail that should contain it for some reason doesn’t arrive to my inbox nor any other folder, so I’m unable to log into my support account.
I tried replying using e-mail and I received a reply back containing only this:

I never had FPS problem but from yesterday i have serius fps problem in a lot of location.. 10-15 fps on queensdale/calderon forrest.. i hope you fix this problem fast..
HD 5870 here.. i think is an ati problem..
YA i use a gtx 580 and my fps just randomly dipped a few times lastnight like hardcore could barely move then a few seconds later it was normal
same thing here its driving me mad…mad ….maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. I never had fps issues like this before.
Yesterday it seemed like FPS had returned to normal, but today they’re again low. I really don’t know what’s going on with this game. All my other games run just fine!
I’ve used FRAPS to benchmark for 60 seconds a run through Lion’s Arch from Fort Marriner to Grand Piazza on Auto-detect settings with shadows on low, and these are the results:
com on.. i can do 60 FPS whit all max setting with last batman and now i got 16 FPS on gw2? where is the problem? fix it.. never seen my fps go under 40 fps in pve zone
I’m glad I don’t seem to be the only one experiencing this issue. Although I’m sympathetic to those who are as well, it’s a pain in the kitten .
I’ve been playing for only a month and already the game has become unstable which is no way to please a customer. I understand that there may be problems beyond Anets control at the moment but I seriously hope this is addressed some time in the near future, otherwise I’ll be forced to make a phone call.
For the time being, I’ll sit tight and hope that it has something to do with the recent Halloween update. It’s always possible that seasonal event has caused some sort of instability that will resolve itself when it’s removed. If that’s not the case, I expect the company to look in to this matter.
