Sudden FPS drop since this morning.
Hearing multiple people in mapchat having the same issues made my dumb kitten rush to the forums for help. Restarting my computer did the job. facepalm
Edit: Dumb kitten, ah yes, I love the language filter.
I have the same issue as yours.
My fps was always remained above 25 but after updated on 10 March, my fps dropped very low which is left only 5-9.
My system:
Intel® Core™ i5-3470 CPU@3.20GHz
ATI Radeon HD 5670
8GB Ram
I want to play……who can help me@@
are any of you overclocking your GPU by any chance? that was the problem for me. After I set it to stock things are smooth again

try reinstalling dx9 runtimes as well as updating your gfx card driver if you havent, both of these things may help.

keep in mind that your performance also depends on the number of players currently located nearby.

Question for Jazhara – Why would I want to reinstall dx9 runtimes if I’m currently using DirectX11? Are they unrelated?

Guild wars 2 is a Direct X 9 game.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but should I uninstall DirectX 11 and go back to DirectX 9, or can I have both 9 and 11 installed and direct GW2 to only use 9?
UPDATE: Just tried that link above to see if DirectX9 could be installed over 11, and no go. Here’s a screen capture.
Now I’m stuck at “Downloading 0kB” as described here:

you have to install dx9 on windows vista/7/8, its not included, and windows update dosnt install or update it
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
thats the latest redist version(full download no webinstaller issues)
yes you MUST install this and another note: it can become corrupt, if this happens you have to do some stuff to clean up the damaged/missing files, the directx sdk installer THEN webinstaller will normally do that for people.
check thebox for the dx11 platform update if it offers it, but in short, yes you need to install dx9 because dx9 and 10/11 are seperate and not in any way connected/related(they rebuild dx when they made 10, thats why xp dosnt get 10/11 it would require updating the core of the os to add it properly, and thats just not worth the time)
good luck.
