While patching had a blackout...
Sounds about right, the gw2.dat file probably got ultra corrupted. I have a back up file I keep on my media hard drive that I update every once in a while so that I never have to wait the entire download sequence again. It hogs 15.5 GB, but saves me time if I ever need it.

Technical Support
Hi Chillz – I’m sorry to hear about having to reinstall the client. Unfortunately if the installation/patching process is interrupted in this way the client will need to be reinstalled from scratch.
As Ilithis Mithilander mentioned, a backup copy of your gw2.dat file wouldn’t be a bad idea especially if blackouts may be a common occurrence.
Hello
Just a suggestion, and I swear by these, they have saved me countless times.
Get a UPS, an Uninterruptible Power Supply and one that will power your computer for at least 15 minutes and better yet 30 minutes. They also save wear and tear on your computer from sudden outages, power spikes, brownouts, etc.
I even have a seperate one that just powers the dsl and router boxes.
