When i put the disc in and click for it to start the dl it does about 10’000 kb then it closes and flashes the same screen on and off and doesnt do anything so whats the deal

Same thing has happened to me. When I insert the disc, I’m prompted to run the guildwars2.exe installer (or something like that). I run it, and then it downloads about 14,000 kilobytes. After that, the screen disappears and then quickly reappears—except it’s at 0/0 kilobytes. That screen stays up for about 2 seconds and then disappears again. Nothing happens, nothing ever reappears and I don’t even get the opportunity to click the “install game” button.

I honestly have no idea what I could possibly do to fix it. I have it installed on my laptop, which is very inferior to the desktop that I’m trying to download it on. I’m thinking of downloading the game onto a flash drive and moving it onto the desktop, but I’m not even sure if that would work.

I take it you are unable to download the game?

i get to the launcher screen and it says i have 5 files remaining, it downloads to 248kb and then the rate of download goes to 0.0kb/s and doesnt start up again

Having exactly the same problem as the first 3 posters. Tuche.6719, I tried downloading the game, but you actually just download the Setup.exe file… which leads to the same issue.

I put in a support ticket, I sure hope they get back to me ASAP.

Same problem here as above. I really would like to play the game too. Just want it to load.

Same here! I just got Windows 64 Bit and it goes to about 10,100 KB then it asks if I will allow GW2 to make changes in my computer so I click yes and it closes.

Found this somewhere else, and it worked for me (Windows 8 – 64bit – Enterprise)

Try this

locate the gw2.tmp file (it size should be around 10 Mb (in my case it was 0MB)). Make a copy of your exe, and rename the tmp file to exe.

So:

Gw2.exe → Gw2copy.exe
Gw2.tmp --- Gw2.exe

and open Gw2copy.exe .

where u fing gw2.tmp file? (I hav hard copy)

I found those files in this directory:

c:\Users\(my user name)\AppData\Local\Temp\

But the above steps did not work for me, it is stuck on Downloading 9kb.

Okay we fixed it!!!

I had been using the Microsoft signed video driver. I went out to AMD.com and downloaded the latest driver for my video card.

The driver install also installed a few other things, like an updated version of .Net.

Now all is well!

I do wish I was able to get to the point of having a log file generated somewhere or an error message which might have mentioned dependencies like that. But all is well and the game is installing!

i had try your way and i think i can install it

i put in my disc and sais cant install go to tech support and suppor doesent help me out at all the game disc cant do anything when I put it in nothing

It could be your drivers that are outdated. My problem was my laptop having a max screen resolution of 1024.

I updated my drivers and now i have a resolution of 1300 something. When i tried to install GW2 again, it worked and the installer started.

I thought that necromancers were only ingame lol :O
