nothing has changed from my normal playing situation aside from the installation of the 1/28 patch.

but after logging in and clicking the red “PLAY” button on the launcher, the client starts to load but crashes into the “Send report to ArenaNet” window every attempt.

here are the details:

—> Crash <—

anyone see anything that i can fix to get into the game? thanks in advance.

Hi unbanx – Have you tried a repair yet? If not you can do so by trying the steps below:

First, navigate to Documents\Guild Wars 2 and delete the local.dat file. Next, please try the following to repair your Guild Wars 2 installation:

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair.”
4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
5. Edit the “Target” line to include -repair at the end.

Note: Please make sure -repair is outside of the quotes

Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -repair
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -repair”

6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.

If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.

7. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Repair” to start the repair process.

Once completed, please try starting Guild Wars 2 again.

Hi, I have the same issue. Even when I try to repair the file I get the same error message.

Deleting all GW2 files and installing from scratch fixed this for me. It took about 5 hours to download it all though.

I tried re-installing the game client today. No change. Still crashes after about 5 min of play. Waiting on Tech Support to give me my next things to try. disabling all non-Microsoft processes and start-up applications had no impact either.

Decided to come back to the game after playing several months at launch. I’ve tried logging in about 50 times and was only able to get in once where I played for half an hour and logged out with no issues. Originally, upon clicking ‘Play’ I would get a black screen with a white bar where the taskbar was followed quickly by a full client crash. After deleting my local.dat and repairing, I get a fully black screen with music and cursor and no client crash.

Downloaded/installed twice. -repair[ed] multiple times, tried everything on the sticky lists. Haven’t changed any hardware since I last played, everything is up to date.

Edit: Fixed by bypassing my router and running my network cable directly to the PC. Not ideal, to say the least.

Router is Linksys WRT54GL running Tomato***
