i7 920 overclocked to 3.9ghz with a radeon 7850 overclocked. I always wondered if its normal to only get 29-33fps most places and 20fps in LA 24 around crowds. just seems like I should be getting better frames with everything on max 1920-1080 resolution

is this about the frames everyone gets with this hardware

That’s weird. A buddy of mine has an i7 930 OC to 4 GHz with 12 GB DDR3 and GTX 480 2 way SLI and get’s a massive 180 FPS outside of cities. Not sure what he gets in cities but it’s still probably amazingly high. He has shadows off and reflections on trees and sky and not All (because he personally thinks it looks better, I can’t blame him) so I’d suggest try doing that first. I’d also recommend checking to be sure that your PC is running at optimum performance. Defragging and optimizing, getting rid of dust, etc. Checking that your CPU is not overheating.

This can be totally helpful too. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/How-I-fixed-my-FPS-Issues/first#post2408699

No, we have a very similar processor at a similar frequency. Our graphics cards differ, but with an overclocked 7850, you should be able to play with mostly high settings besides ‘All’ reflections and supersampling and get close to 60+FPS at 1080p.

As was said above, make sure everything is clean. You can also unpark your cores. YMMV with unparking, but its a power saving feature and when you overclock you’re not looking at saving anything.

i have a much better cpu with about the same gpu (570 twin frozrIII overclocked passed 580 performance and a 7850 is about the same performance wise) and if i have reflections on, the difference in fps from mine to yours isn’t that big (have a 2500k@4.3 so that’s the reason). Their game engine is a joke and so is 32bit client

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

A friend has a similar CPU but a 6850 GPU and runs the game on maximum settings and never gets under 30 fps.

What strange is that my Q9400 (~2.66Ghz) with an old 5850 never goes below 20fps either (max settings except lod distance) so I guess there is something different going on with your PC (or mine lol)
