Hi, all

I had frequent disconnections from the game from 3.12
with problems to login…

I was mad at A-net, I posted some frustrated posts in the forums, it didn’t help…
so I contacted A-net support, and they were very helpful with understanding where the problem is…

if you have disconnection or login issues lately, try to do the following:

1) start GW2, when you manage to login, type in chat ‘/ip’ it will return you the login server IP adress you use. write it down. close the game.
2) open browser, go to any site that detects your real IP. like whatISmyIP.com and write it down.
3) install ping plotter from http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html
the standard free version.
4) run it , submit the login server IP you got from #1 and start the trace.
5) start GW2 and play the game until you disconnect.
6) look at the trace, see where you have packet loss

for example please see the attached picture.

7) if you see that the packet loss is on NCsoft network, open a support ticket or post it in the forums
8) if you see packet loss at your ISP network, you can do the following:

if you have dynamic IP, power off your modem/access point (not the router!) wait 30 seconds and power it again.
get new IP adress
check your real IP adress, if it is different, run the pingplotter again and see if you still have packet loss, if you dont have any packet loss: —> profit
if you still have packet loss or you have static IP adress, contact your ISP and shout at them that they do crappy job until you get different IP with better routes.

it solved the issue for me, got new IP from the ISP and better route with no packet loss.

P.S.
that doesn’t mean me and Anet are friends, they still have to
1- nuke Orr
2- allow disconnected people to get back to their fractal party
3- include a group finding tool
4- fix bugs
