My curiosity overcame my good sense. I peeked at the T7 thread. I was a little concerned about the drama starting to appear in our little thread but after perusing T7, I see I have nothing to worry about (in comparison).

Congratulations to GoM on a strong comeback this week. I’m still enjoying the WvW battles this week and it is a pleasure to converse with everyone on this thread.

Logged on and SOS EB is not only in outmanned status but there are literally like 5 people on for well over an hour until the game went down for the update. I love how everyone on here LOVES it, yet WVW is becoming a ghost town.

Hi. I came from Eredon Terrace. Let me tell you that SoS EB is no ghost town. I go to EB and I am delighted by the number of people I see there. I see queues all the time for SoS BL. It is awesome. I remain surprised when I don’t have the outmanned buff.

It’s all a matter of perspective.

What the OP wants is to be able to go to a non-WvW map, like Lion’s Arch, and tell everyone there who is on the same server to go to WvW without anyone from any other servers seeing it.

This used to be possible before mega servers were added – you just had to make sure you weren’t in an overflow. There was a small possibility of someone from an enemy server guesting there, but not as high as with mega server maps.

Now with megaserver maps you cannot use /map or /say because everyone can see it, regardless of what their home server is. One guild isn’t big enough and you’d never get everyone representing. And obviously you can’t whisper everyone on your server individually.

I think this could actually be a sensible idea. I’ve seen suggestions for a server chat channel before but that was always to allow you to speak to everyone on your server, across all the maps at once which is just asking for spam (gold sellers especially would love it). But if it was only map wide, the way team chat currently functions, it could have practical uses without being excessive.

This idea was what I was trying to convey. Thank you.

I don’t know if WvW servers in general are degrading or if everyone is migrating upward in ranks. The lowest 9 servers have gotten smaller in terms of WvW population in general. I believe ET has grown. It does make the T8/T7 matchups more fun for me since roaming is way more prevalent.

I second this recommendation. I believe they are among the best if not THE best WvW guild on FA. I have the most trouble fighting HOPE.

I thoroughly enjoyed the forum war. It was like a slow motion car crash. I knew it was going to be bad but I couldn’t stop watching. (spammed refresh button repeatedly)

In other news, what does everyone think of the WvW patch this week? Do you think T8 will attract more PvE people to WvW? There are fancy chests with a chance of “precursors” now.

Sounds like Run has had more fun this matchup than the rest of us.

I keep seeing this same complaint. It doesn’t help to post this every other day.

This game is not marketed as “WvW only”. Try out some of the other stuff. You might enjoy it. I don’t play for content only. I play to play with my friends. Make more friends and they can make any thing enjoyable.

I play on multiple alts and I like to do different things on each. My solo-roamer characters are all about guard defense and offense. My zerg characters have supply or various siege mastery. I like being able to customize my characters for the different things I like to do.

Most people do not share in your desire of being sub-optimal. The meta allows for a single character to have every trait at the same time, so that’s the player goal. Now would I like it better if it encouraged your usage of it? Hell yes! But the way it’s designed right now it makes no sense a character bound system unless you enjoy not benefiting from X amount of time you’ve put into WvW where X = the amount of time you’ve spent on alts.

I would argue that focusing on one character is “suboptimal.” My thief is 10 times the roamer my warrior is. I’m using the advantages each class offers to be a better roamer/havoc/zerger. If you prefer to focus on your main, that is your choice. I prefer to have a bit of variety.

I read the first post and anticipate a lively discussion on the new point meta and how roamers will earn more ppt. I get a long discussion about yaks….what the kitten?

It would be nice to have more balance in WvW with all the servers, the current trend is to continue to stack the top servers. I anecdotally see the WvW population is shrinking as people drop off of GW2. More and more people are migrating upward in the tiers to find a a strong WvW community.

It seems like that happened to AR in one fell swoop.

On a side note, I am super super interested in AR/ET/FC matchup. If that happens, I’m going to play on ET that week.

I’ll start. The other day I was roaming and two Riot folks jumped me. It was totally unfair! They should have duelled me 1v1.

This topic is old but I have a suggestion that I hope would benefit both RP players and WvW players.

Enable Team Chat in pve maps. Only your server can read team chat. This allows all the RP in team chat and secondly, I can go to pve maps to recruit people to wvw without dissembling information to possible enemy servers.

No, right now it serves our purposes to let AR have our BL, in ensures you lose. But since you don’t care about losing, that should be a non issue for ya.

I love how you talk as if you had any say in the matter. If you had any influence in FC, you would have called in people to repel the ET attack last night. How many times did we wipe you last night? Is that why there are so many delicious tears?

I would like Team Chat to be enabled for PvE maps so I can message people on my server. This way I can call for help in WvW without dissembling information to possible enemy servers. Thank you.

Like we’ve all been saying all along. Bronze league is the most competitive league. It’s the only league that you don’t know the results before leagues even start.

While people who do PROPER roaming are plenty valuable to their server,
The issue is that there are a lot of roamers out there who are not roaming because they want to help in WvW, they are roaming because all they want to do is gank uplevels and unsuspecting opponents (They call it “looking for good fights”) and feed their ego.

They don’t hit sentries, they don’t hit camps, they don’t hit yaks, they don’t build or repair. They idle around various parts of the BL and gank people 1v1. Those people are not valuable for anything other than very mildly trimming the opponent’s forces, probably of no actual consequence to the situation.

A lot of roamers are having fun the way they want to have fun. Not everyone cares about PPT or overall score. I highly recommend this attitude as it makes the game much more relaxing and fun.

Playing properly = If you follow a commander, you obey his calls, even bad ones because following a bad plan is better than having no plan at all. People shouldnt chase thieves in the middle of a fight, they should be on the commander until he calls out to chase them. If they want to be a solo hero they can stay away and stop wiping groups, because if you die, you risk rallying the other team. That also means using the correct gear.

So zerg or gtfo?

Sorry, sounds completely boring. I went to JQ to “play properly” and it was fun for a few weeks and then it became a chore. A lot of the people on both sides were (in my eyes) players with very little skill and honestly not that much fun (for me).

I like chasing people halfway across the map. I like small group fights.

What I don’t like is people telling me that their way of playing this game is the ONLY way or the BEST way to play the game. WvW is designed to be a sandbox. Everybody should be allowed to have fun the way they want.

Hint: PPT and overall score !=! Fun.

I’ve had better fights with DH than SF. But then I can pretty much say, I’ve had better fights with [insert any other server] than SF.

Is Server Police still on JQ? I was on JQ at the time and I remember Server Police + guildies running around in JQ. Unfortunately, at the time, they were not used to T1 zergs so they were getting wiped quite often.

I kinda love it when people spawn camp. I don’t have to go far to get a fight! Plus there’s always the joy of trying to pull someone into legendary defender range.

^THIS. I’m sure people have /laugh /dance /sit /whatever on me but I never see it. If I look like I’m finished, I immediately hit M so I can get back into the fight ASAP.

Edge of the Mists does not count toward ppt (afaik) and the guilds who care more about fights than ppt will go there. If Edge of the Mists is as promising as it sounds and if it were out already, my guild probably would not have moved servers to find fights. As it is, we cannot idle around bored to death for several weeks (months? years?) until the new map is available.

@Devon, you need to hang out in the right spot in LA. We tend to talk in say chat. Especially when the regulars get together and the conversations get downright silly.

I was complaining the other day that I got stuck all day chatting in LA and not getting any playtime in.

The other night I saw a bunch of Crystal Desert defending Bay (I believe in SoS BL) to the death. I came in with a group of 4-6 to check it out and I saw TC had sieged open almost every gate.

I saw lots of CD pouring in to try to counter TC trying to cap Bay. I have no idea how long CD had been holding off TC. CD has spirit and people who play. Lower ratings means fewer WvW’rs and perhaps that is skewing how people view this matchup.

Focus on having fun folks. Afterall isn’t that what playing games is all about?

@Devon, thank you for all your efforts and the time you spend communicating to the players. I and most GW2 players appreciate it.

You can do another daily achievement. OR buy ranks with laurels & badges

I have the feeling this daily is designed for people who exclusively WvW and they gain 2-4 ranks per night.

Hmmm, I was hoping this was a legit post. I like getting more achievement points for doing WvW. I am vaguely annoyed that my achievement score wasn’t growing as much as when I was a PvE carebear. I’ve gotten a ton more AP since seasons started.

I also like having more noobs to kill in WvW. Thank you PvE achievement hunters for all the loot.
