You guys — SAB is coming back. Colin said it. It’s true. This is positive and definite and no I don’t have a date and I know you’d like to have one but that’s not possible but… it’s coming back. Posts that proclaim it’s not coming are not just wrong — they’re dead wrong. Posts that express upset about the coin — while I understand them — will be moot when SAB returns. Which will happen.
All I can say is keep your chin up, because it’s going to happen.
But will there be a GW2 by that time to support it?
And here is the main problem with gaming in general, not just Guild Wars 2. Players not wanting to use brain power to get better at playing them, leading to more and more dumbed down games. And now the only way to find a worthy game is through a kickstarter campaign, an indie developer or some miracle. Most of them devolve into a bazillion cutscenes with a few interactive moments in-between and QTEs. If I want to watch a movie, I’d watch a movie, there is no necessity to play a video game for a similar experience with far worse graphics.
In GW2 you don’t have cutscenes in most content, but it has the same difficulty as watching a cutscene in other video games. It’s a “watch this bar move until you get your loot” kind of experience. I can understand how for the “newer” generation of gamers who want to watch their game and not play it, HoT would be frustrating because you can’t put it on auto-pilot like in Core Tyria. But is “watching” really “playing”? I’d say not. You’d probably disagree.
Well said.
There are games out there where you have to click on monsters to do damage (Click heroes or something). But you can automate this by buying upgrades, and the game even runs when you are not “online”. So it basically boils down to: Log in → Buy upgrade → Log out. Fun fun fun.
Also, just as a little story, I got a great title from one of my friends for christmas on Steam called: “Shower with your dad simulator 2015: Do you still shower with your dad?” After playing it (yes, I actually played it), and finishing it in one mode, I got the following “you win” screen: http://i67.tinypic.com/jt565e.png
After playing with this game, I think it’s super fitting.
Apparently they’re going to be fixing the formulas so they don’t require events that spawn off failed events. You’re probably better off setting it to the side until they fix it.
Where did they post something as explicit as that?
I’ve not seen anything like that orund here, all I’ve see are vague comments about ‘looking at’ one in particular, basically.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Update-on-Legendary-Collections-More
“Fix issues that encourage toxic play or interactions. No collectible should be gated behind failed events, or mechanics that make you upset that another player is playing a specific way. Unfortunately these things take longer to fix and test around the fixes (don’t want to break something else on accident), so the turn around will be slower…”
aka never
Of course fixing a program this complex takes time. People say Anet doesn’t communicate and when they do, people heckle the communication. I don’t know why Anet should talk at all with reactions like this.
As develpoing 3 legendaries took 2 years, not to mention forum search or bar brawl.
Not sure why I care tho.

I just want to mention, that at least the search function is working on Reddit, while Anet’s own AAA forum cannot fix a simple search function for 3 years. After that, even mentioning professionalism is kinda weird.
2pro4me
If you crash at DS just use 64 bit client. Dev respond more often on reddit because people there are not raging mobs who trying to burn down castle Arena net.
The irony is that Arenanet self created that environment with their refusal to communication. And it seems that they understood that they can´t fool the people here any longer.
Point proven, people here are just so much more toxic and complain about every little thing in GW2 since day 1 of launch. I mean if some new player just read forum and don’t play the game they would think GW2 is one of the worst game ever made.
So the awnser to critisism is to ignore it and go to a shiny happy place? That’s some messed up thinking right there.
What if Reddit also gets “toxic”? Just move on to the next platform?
I mean, why not just have a closed circle for Anet, where they can pat eachother on the back.
We talk here about 7.50€ (or about 126g to buy), that’s one beer where I live, in other countries maybe two. But really, don’t you have other priorities?
Where I live, for €7,50- a homeless person can sleep 3 or 4 days in a shelter on cold winter nights…
Man what a comment… -.-
You can’t compare that. We’re talking about persons who can afford to buy a computer, the game and pay their electricity bill. That has nothing to do with “look at me I’m so rich”.
But comparing it to a beer is ok. Right.
I’m glad I don’t live there, I’d have to work roughly 2 – 2,5 hours for a beer (with above avarage payment).
Is it finally getting implemented?
Yes, that’s a selling point for me.
It’s only 50€, so why not. A meal for two in my country.
10% of an average monthtly wage in my country.
@Ohoni:
Am I deducting it right, when I say that all of your gripes with all content would be solved, if there was only one currency (eg.: gold), and you could buy any item for that?
@OP:
Nope.
You aren’t allowed to use the royal “we.” Perhaps you were talking about the game world’s population, but I was not. If we were to talk about the game’s population, there really isn’t much data to go on as to how many of them would be willing and able to stomach a WoW-style raid, but based on player trends, my personal assumption is that it would be a very small portion of the players. If long raids were something GW2 players actually wanted, then Fractals would have been much more popular than they actually are.
I think he used “we” as in we, the people living in the world of sense.
I advise you not to go to a 3rd world country, and tell starving children, that you have fought the good fight, and now they can have easier raids.
Well that kind of sucks.
Instead of balancing it, just remove it cause hey, why not.
Please ArenaNet PLEASE!
Take a look at this years achievments carefully, and do NOT implement 80 rounds of Lunatic Inquis.
Pretty please: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Think-math-do-Lunatic-Inquis/first#post4536581
Every server has access to PvE, WvW, and PvP.
There is no difference between the serves (except in population, but that only affects WvW).
Don’t save up bags to open all at once?
Or you know, implement “Use all” finally, as it has been suggested thousends of times.
I wish there was an app that showed how much of my playtime have I spent with “inventory management”.
Too much time between LS 2 and HoT.
I have not logged in for 3-4 months now, cause there was nothing to do. I explored new LA, did Karka hunt, and that was it.
Now with HoT coming out in 1 month, I’m not sure I want to return.
I have not yet tried gliding in GW2, but the simple anwser imo is:
Flying is fun.
If you have played Batman games, you know that gliding over the city in itself (with n objectives) for some reason feels really good. It feels fast, you can see the “map” below you, observe things you couldn’t.
On the other hand, underwater is slow, you see less than before, the environment is pretty repetative.
With that said, I like the underwater aspect of the game, and it’s a shame that it’s being neglected.
Dailies are also “permanently missable achievements” if your gripe is missing out on achievement points. So are event achievements.
Dailies are capped. Js.
One thing left:
Will there be content?
“Wubba-lubba-dub-dub!” – when below 25% health, or as a healing shout.
50 pages, with multiple comments made by the devs, the latest outright stating that they need to change rather much issues in order to get it to work at all. Work that no company in their right mind would do while working on a major release.
You mean 1 right? That’s multiple? I have not dug through the thread (again), but I only seem to recall one made by Gaile Gray.
Please stop lying. Thanks.
“I haven’t bothered to confirm my stance, but because of my lack of new information I know better and you must be actively deceiving.”
Well done, sir. That is an amazing example of willful ignorance. Especially considering that the information you’re missing exists on this very same page and you wouldn’t even have to go searching for it. Colin posted on Reddit within the last month and that information is kindly reproduced here in this thread.
Two is, in fact, multiple. Even if it somehow wasn’t I believe there is at least one other post somewhere in this massive thread saying more of the same.
Yeah sorry. It’s totally fine now.
I should have just used the search optio… oh wait (no search on a forum for 3 years but hey, who cares).
And no, Reddit is not the Anet forums. So there has been no “devs” on the forum. There has been A dev (although I admit I only thought she posted once – 4 total, 2 of those with any value).
So yeah, 2 posts by the same Dev in the forums about the issue. As Gene Archer said before me, I guess that qualifies.

I think it burns burns burns
Gaming today:
“Hey! Don’t play the game, just throw money at the screen, so it looks like you played the game!” Fun times.
There should be a game where there is only a black screen, with just numbers and player names on it. The numbers increase whenever someone pays irl money for the game (you can do that anytime). The highest number wins.
Edit: Or wait. There is not even a “win” condition needed. The numbers are enough.
Not going to happen.
People pay 800 gems for the Unlimited use salavge kits to save bag space.
You can buy Crude salvege kits for 14 karma (I think). You would get a 15000 charges (technically infnite) salavge kit for 14000 karma if they would let you do that.
14000 karma != 800 gems (+ copper/silver price for each use)
Whatever it’s gonna be, it’s gonne be just 1, with the rest coming sometimes in the future.
Calling it now.
Finally, the deciding point for buy or not to buy.
By the way, keep updating that Reddit Anet, don’t use your own forums. That wouldn’t make sense, right?
I like ANet’s track record:
- Every time I’ve purchased a game, expansion, or “campaign” from them they’ve delivered a core product that has provided 100s of hours of solid entertainment.
- In addition, they provide frequent content/story and balance/mechanics updates at no additional costs.
I don’t care in the least if it’s 3 legendaries or 40, 3 maps or 50. I only care about whether it’s fun and challenging and based on past performance, it seems likely that’s what we will get yet again.
I guess it’s your choice to buy the season pass whitout even knowing if there will be a season.
Gamers are so spoiled these days.
Yeah, I’m so spoiled for expecting something that was promised to be delivered 20+ months ago. I mean, if my grandchildren can see the new legenderies, I’m OK with it.
You were promised that they will try to give legendaries. You were not promised that they will, 100%, give you ones.
Except, you know, not.
“Legendary Gear and Precursors
We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but what I can say is you will see a specific way to build precursor items on your way to a legendary. On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013."
But hey! SAB is coming back in 2018 too, so no problems!
Fractals for example were the result of people wanting that “endgame” grind, which was a lot more popular at launch with all the WoW players.
I would like to add 2 things to this:
1. I never played WoW and I could see that endgame is severely lacking.
2. a) Fractals (and all content for that matter) was popular at launh cause it was new. Since then, a lot of players have “maxed” it.
2. b) Fractals are basically the same from 1-10, 11-20 etc.. Not really as progressive as announced (so 5 difficulty levels).
2. c) The rewards are the worst for any dungeon.
Gamers are so spoiled these days.
Yeah, I’m so spoiled for expecting something that was promised to be delivered 20+ months ago. I mean, if my grandchildren can see the new legenderies, I’m OK with it.
Wow, what a kittening joke.
You know, saying that legendaries are actual content so it’s good that we are not getting them is not the best argument.
Yes it is, we are getting 3 new legendary’s, not the same with crafting but actually content created specificly for them.
I get what you are saying. But please don’t expect me to be be satisfied (if your theory is correct) that we are getting 3x content instead of 19x content. Doesn’t really hype me up you know.
Ugh, I remember you OP.
You were the one who said the “Rytlock ritual end fight” was too hard if not impossible in LS2.
So… case closed I guess.
You know, saying that legendaries are actual content so it’s good that we are not getting them is not the best argument.
Considering WvW achievements, I don’t believe it is even possible.
This is correct.
It is mathematically impossible to complete 100% of the achievements in this game due to those existing. Even assuming someone had the willpower to do it yakslapper alone would take something like 7 years of playing at an average pace.
Well, considering yaks spawn like every 5 minutes, and granted you are at a camp and NO ONE EVER interrupts you nor do you take the camp just let yaks respawn, than you can kill 24 yaks per hour. That means you can get Yakslapper in only 41666 hours pure playtime. That’s only 1736 days, which is 4,75 years.
Of course, that is playing 24/7 without ever working, sleeping, eating or living.
Realistically, if you go for the achievment, you can get in ~ 20 years (by playing say 8 hours a day and doing Dolyaks for 6 hours straight). Of course, remember that no one should interrupt your Dolyak spawncamping.
At a a casual rate, granted you are a WvW player you should have this done in 150-200 years (give or take a few decades).
And then. You get 25 achievment points.
Ps.: And you know what? Yakslapper imo isn’t even the worst.
(edited by Bubi.7942)
Let’s not forget that all the existing legendaries are getting the same treatment, so they’ll all have scavenger hunter/quest style content to acquire the precursor skins and other components come HoT. Which might not be much of a plus if you have all the legendaries you want already but for me it means i can go the ones i am missing with less RNG.
And do you think they have any of those quests/hunts ready now/at release?
You won’t able to get all of them in day one anyway, what’s the different between 15 legendaries and 3 legendaries + updates later.
This man knows business. Heck, why not just ask for 50$ for nothing, and say: “Hey, for this fifty bucks, you are gonna get something sometime later!”
No one would pay for that. Oh wait, Season passes, never mind.
All the pre-purchasees wont be needing a contest, since they already bought HoT.
Maybe some art/creative contest to win a hand-glider skin or gw2 HoT cap in game would be ok, I guess, but still redundant.
Maybe give away Riot points?
Let me help my fellow forum readers where they are making a mistake in reading, Circa said:
“A few MMO’s have added a feature to their expansions, allowing new players to “boost” their characters to the level of the expansion so they can play with family and friends in the expansion content from day one.”
There you go.
Finally.
The first news since HoT announced that I actually care for.
As I was reading the article I was thinking the whole time: “Oh God, please don’t let this be the challenging group content…” so the last paragraph was a big relief.
Never gonna fix min-ions
Never gonna fix fo-rum
Never gonna fix the Lu-pi necrid bolt
Never gonna fix go-lems
Never gonna be balanced
Never gonna tell you a re-lease date
Never gonna fix, never gonna tell…

I heard they are gonna add it with SAB.
I kinda figured this was a Metroid reference. Y’know, because we went around killing all these facehugger-type monsters with a gun, but then saved the last one for some reason.
Some reason? She saves your kitten in Super Metroid!
Search this topic is your friend.
1. Search is borken
2. I can understand why someone wouldn’t want to browse through/read 5598 replies (at the moment I am writning this).
Yes. And you don’t even get a core game with it.
If you have owned GW2 previously , then it uogrades your game to be GW2: HoT.
It’s true that there is a lack of original achievements. Other games do this better imho. There are a few where I think: yeah that’s it, but it’s really lacking original achievements. I. e. almost nothing fancy for dungeon achievements – there are none aside from completion of dungeons. At least they did it better with fractals.
But hey, there’s the collection achievments for dungeons!
Complete a dungeon only 150 times and you have 1 out of 8! Fun fun fun! Amirite?
