fractals at the beginning isn’t so bad. You just need to get to 12 and you can do lvl 2s

And you don’t need people to run events. There are tons of easy events at hotspots where events don’t stop like Zintyl holy grounds in sparkfly

conditions... is it really that hard?

So basically you want achievement points but you do not want to earn it or don’t like how you earn it.

Quite simply, you don’t deserve it.

Agree with everything except time gating.

Time gating was put in with casuals in mind. If there weren’t time gating, they would shift more of the focus towards hard grind, otherwise they’re making a bunch of trivial content that takes no effort. Time gating is the compromise. If you want multiple options towards getting mostly the same things, fine, but wanting less grind AND less time gating is the same as wanting everything nerfed.

As far as overflows, Im fine with them but not when they’re filled with foreigners! When you can’t get into your own server because people from other servers are taking up the space, that’s a problem. They need to cap the number of guesting individuals to something like 20% capacity. If people want to jump on the ez-train for Teq too bad. They can get their own server together and build their own.

People that want a quick win will guest away from their servers potentially leaving it with too few people to ever possibly succeed and the guested servers’ residents can’t play on their own kitten server.

Minis are effortless for Anet to create.

Ranger pets have to be run by the balance and combat department and tweaked and such and then find an excuse to place then in the world, and then if you want to put in a legendary pet there has to be a huge process implemented and all this for a single class nobody even likes.

For a mini, you slap the follow code onto the creature model and throw it on some vendor. It’s apples and oranges.

So you’re a developer then? You know exactly what goes into adding content, functionality, play testing, bug-fixing and QA?

Of course you don’t, otherwise you wouldn’t have posted this entitled little rant you just did. Oh, and many of us like rangers, so don’t presume to speak for everybody else, when you are expressing what is, to all intents and purposes, your own view. Thanks.

Lol okay, so tell me what you would even think a simple extra mini needs that’s so involved? This thread isn’t about crud the poor rangers feel so deprived of, it’ about minis. Take your ranger indignation to the ranger forums.

As part of the aesthetics endgame.

Like it or not, aesthetics are the endgame in GW2. Everyone is going crazy for gear skins and whatnot, but I feel a huge opportunity is being missed here by not including more miniatures. They’re even already modeled! Why put all the work on the arts team to crank out new skins? Throw in some minis to pad out the content in ways players can choose, not be forced to do.

Most specifically, I want the kitty-golems from the uncategorized fractal. They’re the best. I’m surprised there isn’t one already. You have to make it occasionally make the golem “meow” sound though or it’s worthless. I understand the need to sell the hottest swag on the gem store, and I’m sure everyone would agree Baron von Scrufflebutt counts as hot swag so you could put him in the next gem-store mini pack series. You could make all the different kitty golems come from different sources (they each have a different color.)

We’re running out of things to buy with fractal relics, so stick the kitty golem on BUY-4373 and make it cost an obscene sum of relics.

But in general there need to be more miniatures. If you run out of unique models, color palette swaps seem to be working so far. I’d love to get my hands on some of the other colors of ooze for example. Idea: A purple ooze you buy with an insane amount of karma! I’d buy it for a cool million. You’re always looking for excuses to get players to dump karma, that one would definitely work. Get creative. Put minis everywhere.

Artificers can upgrade them at no cost, so you dont need to click through your stacks of blue essence.

I got 10k green weapons from the trading post and salvaged them after the patch. If i remember right, i ended up with around 30 stacks of blue essence. Upgrading those saved me alot of time consuming it.

It is not about clicking all of them. I just have not used them up. I tend to hoard certain items for very long periods of time.

I see the chest. played through the whole 1-4 fractals, wasn’t dead. I survived the whole fight while the rest of the party wiped and I rezed them all. They got loot, I didn’t.

I saw the chest and everything, it just didn’t interact to give me anything. I haven’t done a fractal for months so it wasn’t on a daily cooldown. I got the complete bonus though that you get achievement style with the bag of coins. I died and walked back, still nothing. I’m sure I received nothing as I checked my bags and the chest did not disappear from my screen even after waiting a while.

I’m lvl 80. This was a level 4 fractal and I’m reward level 21

I’m going to try it again and see if it still happens

[Edit] Don’t know if it’s relevant, but we kept going throgh the next set of fractals without leaving the instance and I could still see one of the chests I had already looted at the cliffside fractal. The order in which we completed the bugged run was svanir, cliffside, dredge and I was able to receive loot at all 3.

[Edit] I was unable to see if that cliffside chest was going to give me loot because the boss put all 5 of us in the same cage and hammered us into goop. twice. Also I’m not going to check on the maw again.

Some of these may not make it in for that release

Just remember this, some people take the words of a dev as final say.

I’m glad that tab targetting is finally getting a fix, was tired of tab targetting through a bunch of spirits to get to a ranger.

It’s about time there’s an anti-stealth mechanic in the game (similar to hunter flare). You’ll see alot of QQ from thieves, but this is necessary. I’ll keep a ranger near me now in pvp.

The one thing though Fix Guardian shield this weapon feels entriely lackluster is is mostly only used for the knockback for point control or thieves stealth in spvp.

Yea, its about time they added a counter to that god mode skill stealth… i mean seriously:
1) Ground Targeted AOEs did nothing against a stealthed thief… except have them take damage as they tried to approach for a melee attack and get whatever conditions were associated with the AOE as well.
2) Knockback, Stun, Daze, Knockdown… yea these did nothing to interupt the casting of things like Shadow Refuge or reveal the thief after knocking the thief out of the SR field.
3) Revealed Debuff… yup, nothing says perma stealth god mode like having a 3-4 second time frame where you cant use stealth at all.
4) Anti-Stealth Traps… yea, these are expensive but what other specific piece of WvW gear is specifically made to target a single class? NONE!
5) PVE mobs dont lose aggro with stealth anymore. Oh wait that goes for WvW mobs too.. so for those who keep QQ that thieves use ambient creatures to perma stealth… how about look where the creature that was just attacked is looking and strike there? Chances are, since the mob keeps aggro, it cant attack but it knows where the thief is.

All this BS about stealth needing a counter… there are counters to stealth… you just need to actually learn to use them.

So spam in the direction you think the thief might be and hope it drops all of his health. Also hope he doesn’t have half a brain so he doesn’t move in a predictable straight line, and also hope he is a bad thief that relies on shadow refuge and uses it incorrectly.

That is good advice dude, thanks. They need you on the balance team.

Chickenshoes.6250

Wait wait wait. What happened to it?

Cuz if they gutted that JP or ripped it from WvW I am gonna be CHEESED.

That is the ONLY place you can gank and screw over other players. You do not get to take away all of it. The entire rest of the game is a carebear carnival where everyone only exists to help everyone else. Life needs contrast sometimes.

Other MMOs like Rift, WoW, Fallen Earth and others let you kill, grief, camp, and gank people out in the open PvE world ‘till you look in the mirror and realize you’ve ganked your own soul, and the circle is complete. Asking for one lousy JP area to be the “griefer reservation” is not too much to ask.

Gentlemen, my jimmies have been ruffled.

And before you ask, no, I have never camped the place, but I am romanced by its themes. I understand what It is. If I have to go there for the chest or living story I go in at 4AM with a friend, check around every corner, scan every sightline, and move quickly to the goal because I’m expecting the worst and welcome the thrill.

It’s not even like it’s mindless indulgence. It’s unique in that there are many new possible and interesting strategies. For example, many control skills can subvert another player’s efforts making positioning and timing important. The interesting terrain more than lends itself to creative play. Anyway, it can be more varied and involved than what you might usually do in WvW, zerg, spam and steamroll yet some would grant that greater and unquestionable legitimacy by comparison.

Very Very glad to see some focus on balance.

Look, you want feedback? I’ll feed you this; Balance is very important to me, and I know it is to the long-term enjoyment of a lot of players. Please PLEASE keep it as a high-priority fluid concern. I don’t care if it comes at the cost of something else in the game like old PvE encounters in Twilight Arbor or something else people hardly care about anyway. Focus on balance is very important.

Too often balance finally comes along after something ridiculous like 6-10 months and it goes unreviewed/forgotten for another 4-5 months, even if everyone hates the way it turned out, and then it’s “fixed” by a change to something unrelated to the actual problems. You would almost think the old balance team died of old age and the new kids are taking a potshot at it based on what the old team scribbled in the margins on a dusty notepad. I know I’m not giving helpful specifics, but it goes for all classes and most playstyles in multiple MMOs.

Also, I’d focus on WvW if I were you. It’s the one that matters

Will there be changes to Scarlet's attack?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chickenshoes.6250

I’d say these changes could help a lot to make people want to finish the event:

  • Make every single event spawn a lootable chest at the end, similar to the champion aetherblades that occasionally spawned near balloon towers during Jubilee
  • This chest contains 1-3 champion loot bags, depending on the event (1 for molten alliance events, 1 + 1 per champ for minion portals, 2 for aetherblade events)
  • Champions within the event don’t drop them anymore
    Perhaps also:
  • Don’t spawn the chest for any events which are tied to an empty bar
  • Award additional champ boxes at the end based on time remaining and/or total number of event chests looted (this part rather than events with credit, to dissuade event hopping)

That way there’s plenty of rewards available for early participation (speed up the beginning), rewards for the molten tunnelling machines (practically unrewarded), incentive to finish the pirate events early (no more “Don’t kill the captain, let him spawn more champs”). Additionally, players can’t simply run around tagging events for an end bonus, as they have to be present to loot the chest which spawns, enforcing active play and removing the possible incentive to hop events for more credit.

I’m liking this a lot. This would solve all the problems with non-completion and leeching. The only downside I can see are bagless champs being unprecedented since the new loot system.

I think we need to agree that finishing the event should be the primary motivation. How that happens without reducing morale to the point that nobody does it, I don’t know yet, but it needs to be done. It sucks when it’s just another champ farm and people trying to complete it either get screwed out of the good loot or the off chance it does succeed the farmers get double the rewards without doing any of the hard work.

have you ever considered that just making the map disable commander mark would actually make ppl spread out… theyre naturally drawn to things being easier with more ppl even if it is actualy slower…

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Champs need to be on longer respawn timers. That would break the trains and force people into multiple zones. It would become difficult to predict when a champion will be up or down and would encourage people to kill them as they come across them naturally because they are still very profitable.

I like the champion loot as much as anyone else, and I’m farming hundreds and hundreds of boxes for hours the whole time I’m playing and not doing dailies or clearing bagspace. However, I take the balance of the game I’m playing more seriously than personal gain. Champ farming is way more profitable than any other part of the game which is frustrating.

MF only reduces the chance of getting white weapons which are worthless anyway except for maybe some skins.

It doesn’t decrease loot bag drops. That’s absurd. Loot bags work on a different drop category. It wouldn’t work differently unless they went out of their way to make it stupid. By that logic, with high MF we almost wouldn’t see any grey vendor-trash drops, but we see them all the time.

I had >200 magic-find with simple buffs before the patch and was rolling in bags. There was no marked decrease. They dropped all the time. So did grey trash.
