my playing time can be really limited at times and I find the new system takes much more of the time I don’t have available to get the dailies completed. Before it was as easy as playing around in the Silverwastes or running around getting stuff done in Orr but now I have to go to areas I have already been to multiple times and don’t really want to go back to.
Please go back to the old dailies system and stop trying to micromanage how I get my pve in
The reason people are so fundamentally unahppy with this is the following:
- the game is 2 years old and people have figured out what they like and don’t like. I don’t need to be hand-held to gather plants somewhere remote, or pvp as a ranger. I’ve done those things already and decided for myself that I didn’t care for them
- If you look at the first reviews of the game you will see how a lot of industry vets really really appreciated the freedom and the sense of exploration the game offered. This concious design decision that, admittedly, alienated a few people, was also what made the game unique and fun to a lot of others. Anet has been backtracking on this ever since with the NPE and now this: “play how you like” is no longer rewarded, “go x and do y”, and that is a complete contradiction to the original design decision of the game.

Long, but great post. I thought I’d boil your commentary down to one short but sweet line. It really captures the soul of this thread after all these months.
Unfortunately, this thread is full of ANET’s customers saying the exact same thing in a myriad of ways. Chris Whiteside has acknowledged the problem and hasn’t participated in communicating. Isaiah Cartwright has acknowledged the Trait system needs work, but, again, nothing has been done.
8 months of the run-around. 8 months, 3.3 thousand posts, and just under 160,000 views on a topic that has become thesis-worthy on the scale of What Not To Do for corporate/customer relations.
Regarding your media comments, I’ve brought this to the attention of two separate MMO writers. One won’t even touch the topic because he’s afraid to be critical of ANET. The other one agrees wholeheartedly with the general sentiment here and has stopped making alts as well until it gets fixed, but finds the sheer mass of this feedback thread to be too much to go through to write about. I say keep sending emails to writers. Maybe someone will pick the story up.
ditto here, very well put…. I am amazed that this trait system is still in place. A-net bring back the trait system the way it was before you brought the grind. Such a disappointment after how well and long run GW1 was..
I agree but will even go one step further and call this “new” system a game killer. I have eight characters that were made before this totally messed up trait system was implemented and a new one that will not be advancing due to the grind of the trait unlocking. The original system was much better.
It is becoming obvious to me that this is not the game I was hoping it would be. Something with longevity like GW1 was, no, this game is no way near what GW1 was. Go ahead and hate on what I just said but GW2 is pretty boring now. The new content is either shallow or way too much of a grind to get the pretty new armors.
Incidentally, we’re not aware of any general connectivity issues from Belgium, so that sort of points to it being local on your end.
The Belgian players have been complaining about this issue for over 3 weeks. We had our providers ran checks and they found nothing. There’s a 3 page forum post about us having these problems.

We are unable to remove the Dishonorable Debuff. I’m sorry if you’re having issues, but it’s best to not risk playing matches if your connection is in question, for your benefit (to avoid the dishonorable gameplay flags) and for that of your team.

I have never had problems like this until last night and it didn’t just happen a few times in an hour, it happened every 5 to 7 minutes max….. And every time I would dc and relog the event I was participating in just wasn’t happening or the map was empty
I had the same problem last night. Severe rubber band lag and then boom disconnect from server. It happened so much that the game was unplayable. I reset my modem and restarted my computer but it didn’t help. I finally gave up. Weird thing is that no other game and my net connection/speed was great, only GW2 was acting up.
I used to be able to log on and run some temples, kill a dragon, kill the karka queen, or Teq. But now I log on and due to your ridiculous time log there isn’t much to do, and Orr is a quiet as a graveyard’.

But most off all, to add insult to injury rubbing salt in an open wound, the hot fixes just keep getting worse. I am finally to the point where it is no longer appealing to spend real world cash in the gem shop (which I have admittedly spent way too much on) in support of the content that is being released in such shoddy and dysfunctional manner. Will I quit playing all together? Probably not, but the $$ I have been spending in the gem shop will end as this game is losing its fun factor.
That’s why point number 1 is to be there BEFORE it spawns so that you can react to that. If your entire group engages, he has a 1 in X chance of being the one being targeted.
If there was no one else there before it spawned, I don’t know how this piece of advice is useful at all.
Seems someone will always have something to say to excuse bad behaviour.
There will always be someone who will want to play lawyer to excuse bad behavior, and although this very rare in real life (probably from fear getting stomped) it will continue to be the norm in instances such as this. Where anonymity is the name of the game and some people take that as free license to be kitten bags. Unfortunately the only thing you can do is wait until the next spider appears and try again.
You gotta love so you don’t end up breaking something in frustration. Anet is changing zerk stats because they are op, yet they release a ls end that is nothing but a huge circle kitten of zerker dps bs that does even more to push people away from condition builds or even a balanced build.
I will not step foot back in LA until the knight bug is fixed. If it’s intended that not everyone gets loot, I won’t step back into the game, because that’s just horse****

Complete horse **** especially since the first day had more bugs than a flea infested camel and now you can kill all three legendary knights as a very active damage dealing participant and get no loot and no cores. So now it seems like the QA (yeah right) geniuses are hard at work, and come on one obby shard, or even three obby shards as a reward is kitten ridiculous.
GW1 kept you wanting to play but 2 is looking more and more like a blow it choke.
After completing this many times, killing each “legendary knight” I have exactly one core. Have been playing this release after work every day this week for about 3-4 hours a day since Tuesday the return absolutely sucks. Didn’t fail any attempts to kill dead red scarlet or the knights and even got 15 out of 15 early yesterday.
This ls ending is about as epic as the final battle against Zhaitan which is the lamest part of this game…….

I went with the Zodiac top and gloves with Ascended leggings and boots.
I think that I have managed to dye some areas of the Ascended gear with various shades or blue to match the Zodiac and all of the pieces have some antique gold to match in the Light of Dwayna.
I had the same problem on an expensive laptop and it was solved by adjusting the CPU usage limit from the factory setting of 100% on the high end to 95-99%. I was skeptical at first when tech support suggested this but immediately the issue was solved and has not happened since.
Actually I wouldn’t worry about who gets what cheaper and why. This is just how it goes. My main concerns with regards to any purchase are can I afford it? Is it worth it to me to spend a part of my income on this? Is it something I need, or do I just want it?
If you feel that the price is unreasonable then by all means exercise your right as a consumer to not purchase it. And when you really think about it anything purchased in the gem store leads to your money disappearing into thin air as you have no real rights to it and it isn’t real anyways.
It does work. I just transmuted (yesterday) an ascended focus with a fine (blue not white) focus which made it account bound. Next the character you want to move the item to uses the splitter.
This happens all of the time, especially during one of Scarlets invasions. My character can be standing right beside an Atherblade champion but the auto target locks onto a moa or a wolf. Sometimes when it the clockwork champ is the only enemy around and there are no other non hostile creatures around the auto target will not even pick up on the champ. This happened on a somewhat regular basis in the past but seems to be getting worse now.

Message: I play every class in game, have the dungeon master title but hadn’t been in Arah for some time until recently.
I think this is the worst ls that has been released, especially when you consider the two hour wait to maybe get on either your main or, crosses fingers, a good overflow, and then you have some poor person or two who are teleported to that one platform.
It gets even worse when you take into account that the rewards are pretty lame compared to time committed and effort put forth. Scarlets invasions left us with tons of loot which we could salvage or sell, but this really sucks. You start the event with an empty inventory and after the event fails you have practically nothing except for a few bits of different components that you need at least 25 of to make into something.
Back to dungeons, temples, and getting more toons to map completion I guess.
The ONLY time you encounter ruined mats, is when you are using salvaging materials that are LOWER level than what those nodes need, usually in the leveling area (etc 15-25, 25-40). Using a level 10 pickaxe in a 25-40 area with copper nodes could possibly result in ruined materials.

Not even close. The OP is correct and this has been happening for a couple of weeks as far as I can tell.
Recently the only temple that has been broken/bugged/stuck/hosed on Tarnished Coast is the Temple of Melandru and it is just as described above.
This seems to a regular occurrence across the game that they fix it and over time it breaks. It’s like slow torture whereas you know that one, or more, of the temple chain events will certainly break and there is nothing they (Anet) seem to be able to do to keep it from derailing. Otherwise it’s a pretty dammed good game.
So I went for the Kraitkin Legendary after getting the precursor and wow compared to every other Legendary I have seen this ones graphics are pretty much nonexistent.
Went to gw2 wiki and checked what it’s graphics are supposed to be and after extensive testing have come to the conclusion that most of what is supposed to happen with this ones graphics actually don’t work at all.
Has anyone else had the same results after crafting the Kraitkin?
Maybe not the answer you are looking for, but you know that the clone on dodge will target the nearest enemy, don’t you ?

If this doesn’t improve fps then there is a driver or hardware issue going on. The game is a balance between eye candy and fps you may need to adjust more setting till you get what works for you.

I have noticed lately in instances where I have many clones and illusions that most of the time they will be just doing their own thing while me and the phantasms are on target. It would be nice for, you know, everyone to be on the same page out there.
Having played Mesmer as my main from the head start launch I am pretty certain that say before the November 26 update my clones and illusions used to attack what I was attacking, not attacking with GS1 someone/thing behind me. So is this a bug or an intended trolling?

Instance should be owned by the people within the instance. So, as long as the instance is open and has 2 people in it, it should remain open regardless whether the person who opened the instance is in the party or not.
I do a lot of pugging and got my dungeon master and fotm 48 just by pugging. I understand the frustration people experience at the hand of kittenbags who kick players to bring their guildies or friends in to collect reward at the endboss. There is really no perfect solution for this problem that does not have a trade-off. One option comes to my mind is that once a group has completed 50% of the dungeon “kick” option can be disabled and recruiting new players can only be done thru voluntary separation of team members or after a timeout period of inactivity (for example, disconnects of 10 minutes). This idea also has a few drawbacks.

I have been on the bad end of being in a high level Fractal playing with 3 people in the same guild who always seemed to be getting downed and then killed only to see them first kick the other player and then me at the end. The lamest excuse so far had been that “the instance owner lost connection” but when confronted with “not true I saw you guys kick that other guy” they have no reply. To this day I will not run dungeons, fractals, or anything with people who have a certain guild tag because of this.
Oh and by the way just because a player has a lot of achievement points and a legendary that doesn’t necessarily make them an elitist.
Something you elitists dont realize is this; you are cutting you own djck by not teaching them, you are getting people thatwill lose completely all their interest in dungeons. Teach them the paths and some guideline of builds, might take a while, but chances are, it is only needed once, because next time you need to run the dungeon, you might have more people to do it with.
I would never teach player who are stubborn and insist on using their crappy builds and not take the time to get better by reading on forums/watching videos. A lot of “play how I want” players are like this. If you insist on your clerics/scepter camping/healer guardian, I will not even bother with you.
But there are times when it can be very rewarding in helping someone through an instance by not just teaching them but by also treating them with respect.

Don’t you agree that kicking someone to destroy the intance because he has a bad attitude (not a terrible, abusive, griefing attitude, just bad) is childish?
Yes it’s a terrible thing to do but don’t insinuate or assume you know what happened in instances you had no part of. Griefing is just another form of trolling as is passive aggressive behavior. I do not take kicking people from instances lightly and do not enjoy doing it or being a part of it. Like I wrote earlier most of the time I will just wish them the best of luck and leave to find another party where the game can be enjoyed

You don’t get anything from kicking the instance ower, you can’t replace him.
Kicking him so you destroy the instance is pretty childish, except in some special occations when his behaviour is so bad that the whole party agrees that destroying the instance is better than just leaving. When you kicked that guy, maybe some of the players would have preffered to finish the path, but you decided that punishing him for having a bad attitude was more important.
And also, being able to kick the instance owner is used more often to grief others, specially path sellers.

I find its almost always the other way around. That is a 10k achiev player going banana balls on a new player because they don’t do exactly as that person said (even if it makes no sense).
But agree with the ops first point; Blacklisted players should be barred from joining my party listed in LFG.
Wow then that 10k ap player needs to quit and find another hobby. It’s a game and I approach it like most other things. We play to enjoy, not be bullied, or semi forced to play a specific way. There are certain situations where specific actions seem to work best but I have never considered it the right thing to do when I have been around people who will abuse or kick someone for not following specific instructions.
I do appreciate a good group that can work together to accomplish a run but I have also wished more than a few individuals the best of luck and left an instance because I didn’t want to be around them, or help them, after they went off and booted someone because they were/are new and unfamiliar with the area.

How many times have joined a party that had some control freak with 700 achievement points abusing others that have over 10k achievement points?
It seems to be happening a lot this past week. Most of the time I just ignore them and go along to finish the run but every now and then there has been an individual who needed to go and without hesitation I have agreed to boot the kitten hole out of the instance not caring if he/she started it.
I have found this happens when picking up bundles on the ground. Especially in big fights. Like the karka eggs at Karka Queen, and repair hammers at Tequatl.
Skill stop working except instant skills. The only way I’ve found to fix it is to get downed and rally.
I have had this happen to me multiple times in Fractals and general PVE all over Tyria and getting downed has always worked in getting rid of it
Those chicken vets in Malchors Leap are kitten vicious!
I watched two of them chase some poor guy half way to Wren waypoint and mess him up when they caught him. You can never just fight one or two of them when you stand your ground by the chicken coops. As soon as you hit one the others are on you like stink on poop.
Keep them for legendary trinkets and precursor crafting if ascended armor is not enough of a reason. I still need over 19,000 of each and I only have 7 characters.
You NEED ascended armor? For what, might I ask? Going to do a Level 100 FoTM and need the AR infusion slots?

Same here. It dropped off significantly after the November 26 update. This happened before and it took Anet a long time to even look into it and then even longer to say that it was an unintended change way back after an update. Then It took them even longer to fix the problem.
