Guild Wars 2

Hi. I’m downloading the game for the first time. My connection has the odd issue of stopping working randomly, It can be once in 2 days, several times in one day, just drops and reconnects within a minute. I’m looking into replacing it, but I’m stuck with it for the moment and need help making it work.

I had downloaded nearly 2 GB when the connection dropped. I was asked to authenticate my new ip, I logged back in, download was static at 0 kbps. I close and re-open the client, download starts all over again.

This is absolutely dreadful. At this rate it will be literally impossible for me to download the game. Is there something I’m missing or do I really have to be connected to the internet continuously for a day before I can make anything happen?

My download speed caps at 250 kBps.

There are two forms of PvP. WvW (World versus World) and sPvP (structured PvP). WvW actually falls under the PvE umbrella, although it features armies of players taking over towers and keeps from each other—this is in lieu of world PvP. sPvP is small-team arena fights. CC is not a problem, as it doesn’t last more than a few seconds in either PvE or PvP.

Good, I hate CC. It’s why I stopped tanking too. Bloody annoying.

If you pick a ‘bad’ server, transfers are free right now, although you are limited to once ever 24 hours.

I’m in Asia, so closer to EU than the US. NA servers are typically 12 hours behind me. EU I’m not quite sure, as I’ve never played on one. Does GMT +5 = 5 hours ahead of EU servers?

Like absolutely brand new. Installing the game now. Any beginner tips? The sticky seems to be directed more at people who’ve spent at least a week in-game.

One of my big questions is: Which server do I pick? Want to do PvE atm. If PvP isn’t a cc-fest like another game you might know, I might try it out as well. But just looking to run around and stare at stuff for now. Don’t want to pick the wrong server and suffer for it though.
