‘more battlefield control and movement options that necromancer didn’t have before’. I’m sorry AN I’m just not seeing it. Swiftness is underwhelming and really nothing new, the lack of stability hurts, and who knows how useful the portal ability will even be. I want Scourge to work but can see it being very weak to focused fire.

Pure of Voice

in Guardian

Posted by: Khailyn.6248

Khailyn.6248

First I want to say that i do like this trait and shouts in general. But I feel compared to meditations and ‘monks focus’ that they have been a bit left behind. In enviroments where conditions are spread in mass and rapidly , just curing 1 condition per shout (considering the cooldowns) just seems a bit weak. Personally I would like to see ‘pure of voice’ buffed to 2 conditions converted rather than just 1. 3 seems a bit excessive since its still an AOE effect affecting multiple allies.

For personal use meditations even with this change are still far more powerful. Being able to cleanse almost or all conditions, giving a buff and healing (which is a lot all at once imo).

The voices to me sound (in order) like Brahm, Anise, the echoing voice of a ghost , and a voice i dont recall ever hearing before. Possibly a new character we havent seen in game. I thought the trailer was good for being a teaser. It shows us what we’ve done/where we’ve gone, and gives brief scenes of where we are going (and how its changed) without giving away too much.

How many more 2nd gen legendary weapons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khailyn.6248

Khailyn.6248

As much as im getting impatient waiting for the other legendary weapons, my biggest concern is how they will be implemented collection wise. Thus for the Gen 2 legendaries have required heart of thorns events like champion mordrem vinetooth or defeating mordremoth. Once the next expansion comes out, we’ll see significantly less players in maguuma as they will be doing the new content, lowering the chances of finishin the weapons themselves.

Right now I’m debating whether to stockpile an extra 250-500 crystalline ore just in case of ‘what if i like several of the new ones’.

Granted AN could just tie the rest of the weapon set into the new content and open methods to get things like crystalline elsewhere. (would love to see this in crystal desert).

While I believe some of the outfits have gone overboard in terms of details and graphics to almost rival the flashiest armor in the game, the newest outfit like others have said really fits the asura feel. While I would prefer some more medieval style outfits and armor akin to gw1, the digital style fits in its own way as well. I dont particularly like it, so i ignore it and not buy it. simple.

Khailyn.6248

It has been a long time since the events of the tower and scarlet. perhaps its about time to revert kessex back to its pre defiled state?

That won’t happen. If anything it would be changed to a post-defiled state dedicated to cleanups. Stories move forwards, which is why the Season 1 system caused them so many headaches (and why Season 2 & 3 have added their own maps and done everything else in instances rather than map wide alterations).

there have been clean up events for awhile. not counting the ‘kill the flower’ event. theres also the air purification heart close to the lake where the wurm spawns. given enough time it isnt out of the realm of possibility.

While condi reaper and condi berserker are valuable members to a party, from my understanding the highest dps condition professions are engineer (difficult rotation) and ranger (easier rotation). both use medium armor if you get ascended at some point so can be shared. GW2 could have say.. an icon that pops up a book with turning pages, that lists species, a little background lore and examples of abilities. Maybe notes on battle tactics after fighting enough of them?

Mounts [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Khailyn.6248

I’m personally of the opinion that the mounts should stay on the new maps. I will never understand why some people are so obsessed with mounts when we have more unique methods of travel already available to us. Nevermind the fact that just including mounts at all could create a slippery slope and take us in a direction we dont want. Mounts may be convenient for those in a hurry, it also has the side effect of shrinking the maps (time actually seeing what the map has) and making the world seem smaller.

While not my cup of tea personally, I love the general idea. I had an idea for a dagger that i left in another (long lost) thread.

Basically revolving around the idea of sacrificial dagger that had drips of blood rolling down it and leaving blood puddles as you walk. Would have a soft black aura/fog effect around the handle and a red/black aura around the user. The weapon itself would be traditional krytan in look with a blood red groove down the middle of the blade with rubies in the handle with a few gold accents.

If You Had a Choice Of New Class

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khailyn.6248

Khailyn.6248

Oh my, always the same… when will people finally give up this old Dervish/Paragon/Monk wishdream BS?

Every year the same discussions… these old classes will never return in the way how they were in GW2. When will this finally get into the heads of the people????

Each of them has various clear reasons, why they will never reappear again in their old form, most of them due to class and race design reasons of GW2.
ANet clearly has removed for GW2 due to GW2 having multiple different playable races with DIFFERENT CULTURES all classes, that were simply too strong bonded to the human lore and had a touch of religion in their class design, because religion is part of racial culture and thus indiscutable not compatible with any other playable races.

Asuras, Charr, Norn and Sylvari don’t believe in the human gods, so a return of the wannabe god-Dervish with his God Avatars is completely out of question. its a way too religicous class design to be compatible with the other playsble races.

Paragon and Monk bth have meen mechanically merged into the Guardian and partwise the Warrior. If you can’t realize, then you must really have big tomatoes on our eyes!! Mostly all gameplay mechanics, of those classes that made them unique have been merged into the Guardian and the Warrior basically and the healing aspect of the Monk has been redesigned so that all classes can heal themself now, so that there would be no need anymore for specific healers (until HoT’s Druid came …)

From the old classes have basically only Monk and Ritualist a chance to return as Elite Specializations and shoudl the Monk really return as an Elite Specialization, then it won’t be at all the same as what it was like in GW1, but instead somethign completely different and for sure not an E-Spec of the Guardian, unless ANet wants to have some kind of heavy armors wearing “Warrior/Battle Monk” which fights with 2H War Clubs, but that wouldn’t fit because both base classes can use already hammers which is basically the same weapon type.
So the only martial artistic class that woudl come into question for a kind of martial arts monk would be the Thief for a hand to hand combat style monk (Shaolin)
Thats the only type of monk type, that I an think of that would work for GW2 and that could potentialy work even as its very own class type as number 10 in theory.

Same woudl be Bard, however, personally I would just like it besser to see Bard becoming one of the next Mesmer Elite Specializations.
The Bard is the Specialization of INSPIRATION from the Mesmer, there exists no class to which a Bard would fit better than the Mesmer, unlike those weird beliefs, the Thief would be the right choice for that lol

To answer lastly the question of the Thread…

If I had the choice for a completely new class, not just a new E-Spec, then I would introduce the Tamer as a unique individual Class that has the mechanic to be able to wear all 3 Armor Types and gets different Boost Effects based on which Armor Types you wear at which Body Part together with E-Specs like Dragoon (Heavy Armor Focus) (Halberd/Spear), Summoner (Light armor Focus) (Staff), Beastlord (Medium Armor Focus) (Whip), Exorcist (Mace) (No Armor Focus/Gameplay Change) and lastly Ritualist (Scepter) (No Armor Focus/Gameplay Change) as road map plan for the future.

So basically a kind of jack of all trades class, that can be individualized through the specializations either into a specific armor type so that each armor type gets via the Specs basically a 4th class, or if you don’t want to be focused on a specific armor type and keep the individualism of mixed armory with armor type based boost in regard of what you use at which body part together with different changed gameplay mechanics if you go for Exorcist or Ritualist.

Tamer = Basics/Mounts (Moas)
Dragoon = Mounts (Drakes)
Summoner = Elemental Creatures
Beastlord = Beasts (Monsters)
Exorcist = Ghosts/Demons
Ritualist = Spirits/Souls

The whole Class is basically designed around the 3 Pillars of either Mounts (Mounted Combat), Shapeshifts/Transformations or Summons and the Control of Minions/Enemy Minions

its ‘out of the question’ because the other races dont believe in the human gods huh.. well.. its a good thing then that we dont have any gods in the game.. oh wait, balthazar has only been the central character since season 3 ep 1 and main baddie of ep 4. seeing is believing.

If I had to pick one it would be Priest. A mix melee or ranged caster that channels the powers of the human gods. You see priests and priestesses in game but it seems to be more of a title. While I think much of this is covered through the elementalist and thus doesnt need to be added to game at all…. each god channel gives various effects, balthazar with burning and critical attacks, melandru with roots and defenses, dwayna for healing and the elite being a transformation into a avatar of the god/goddess akin to dervish of gw1.

I wouldnt have a problem with having a chapter dealing with jormag. Right now hes a bit of an unknown though its assumed hes asleep again along with primordus. There might be some tie ins to him in the next chapter while we reconvene with braham rox and rytlock. I took issue with the idea that just because a dye kit is on the gemstore that it guarantees anything. it guarantees nothing but we got more colors to choose from.

Being the final chapter of this season and presumably the last before the expansion, I suspect it will have more to do with regrouping Dragons Watch and pointing us towards the region we’ll go to in the expansion.

We knew it would have to be addressed, but now we know it’ll be the focus of EP6. Today we got a Jormag dye… remember when we got a Primordus dye a few weeks before Draconis Mons, which completely changed the course of his story and essentially “defeated” him? Yep. Now taking predictions as to where in the Shiverpeaks it will be. If it’s farther north than Bitterfrost, we’ll have the first Far Shiverpeaks map!!

way to assume too much. there is no confirmation, youre just speculating. We’ve gotten Glint’s Winter dye kit but have never seen Glint in Game ourselves. Until it’s in the official patch notes its not ‘confirmed’. With the events of the previous chapter we could skip over Jormag entirely for now and just deal with braham since the focus has been all on Balthazar.

Level 80 boost questions.

Unfortunately this is a lot of hypotheticals that no one may know. im sure majority of the ppl that used the 80 boost did so from level 1. otherwise just used tomes. but if i had to guess.. if you were 79 and used the 80 boost you SHOULD get the exotic gear even tho its useless tanky gear soldier/rabid.
going from 1 to 80 you collection enough hero points from leveling to fill out all non elite spec lines. any you earn beyond that should be extra to spend on the elite.
if the boost functions like the scrolls just a stronger version you should not lose any story progress.
as with your exotic gear, you cannot choose the stats nor in terms of weapons do you get to choose the weapon types. i boosted a warrior and got rifle, axe and shield. i had to craft the others.
i boosted from level 1 to 80 so i cannot answer all of your questions exactly as you asked them but thats how i think things would work.

wearing more than one helmet cosmetic

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khailyn.6248

Khailyn.6248

I don’t know if that would be possible (graphical glitch notwithstanding), but you reminded me of how in GW1, you could mix/match wearing a Costume’s headgear with your standard armor, or your actual headgear with a costume outfit, and I’m wondering if that could be done here. (Dunno how hard it would be from a programming perspective; from a visual perspective, the only potential snag I can see is the usual – clipping.)

And clipping is most likely what would prohibit your suggestion as well, since most headgear are physical, unlike those glowing eye ones or the tattoo ones. Maybe the eyepatches, I don’t recall how “substantial” they are. Imagine trying to wear the Radiant Helm at the same time as the Draconic Helm – the clipping would look plain ugly.

The next-best solution – and again, I’m no programmer so I have no idea how viable this would be to implement – would be for “facial cosmetics” to be a separate thing from headgear, encompassing the eyes, tattoos, and anything that is more a feature of the face itself than headgear placed upon it.

it actually was possible to combine armor with the hats of costumes at one point in time. when the game first came out i used the witches hat and dry bones armor. however with the town cloths update, AN made this no longer possible. still a little salty about it and wish AN would make it possible again.
