I don’t find condi to be as much an issue as the stealth classes’ abilities to remain in stealth.
I have NEVER played ANY GAME where a stealth class can attack and remain in stealth. For balance purposes, no game, save this one, has ever allowed that. I’m seeing thieves with the ability to remain stealthed and attack and stomp. All other games I’ve played understood that to be verboten in terms of balance. But this game and its developers apparently do not.
Hey guys, below is a list of upcoming polls you are likely to see, in roughly the order you are likely to see them.
Thanks for the constant communication, it’s working great and appreciate it!
Mixed Borderlands – Do you want a mix of Alpine/Desert Borderlands maps?
- Yes, if the 3 Factions (linking servers) system won’t cause overflow, or if server infrastructure allows it, you’d then have 9 maps working at once without much overflow during peak times (8 borders, 1 Eternal battleground fight map)
- No, if server architecture can’t handle it with latency/overflow issues
World Linking Schedule – How often should we relink worlds?
- For 9 maps (8 borders, 1 Eternal battleground fight map): Once every 2 weeks, players need more time to capture and fight on the map
- For 5 maps (current borders/EB with 3 Factions linked): Once every 1 week similar to now
Deployable Mortars – Do you want to be able to buy and deploy Mortars?
Deployable Cannons – Do you want to be able to buy and deploy Cannons?
Repair Hammer – Do you want to be able to spend supply to repair siege?
Init function “handicap”:
-> If Faction 1 score doubled Faction 2’s score OR If Faction 1 score doubled Faction 3’s score
-> Return “yes” for Faction 2
-> Return “yes” for Faction 3
-> If Faction 1 score >= Faction 2’s score OR If Faction 1 score >= Faction 3’s score
-> Return “no” for Faction 2
-> Return “no” for Faction 3
-> etc.
Special Mention
WvW Priorities – What do you want the WvW team to prioritize next?
- WvW gameplay UI/mechanics/commander tools that drives strategic tactics, team work, and non-toxic collaborative player behavior (see attached screenshots)
Zerg-blob playstyle -> currently supported by commander UI: YES currently supported by Mechanics: YES
Strategic playstyle -> currently supported by commander UI: NO currently supported by Mechanics: YES
Roaming playstyle -> currently supported by commander UI: NO currently supported by Mechanics: YES
Dreamers’ Notes related to above:
- Same sub-group in squad can’t tell who’s in the same sub-group while in zerg, all names are blue
- No sub-group (lieutenant) lead, when tag dies, everyone scatters
- New WvW players don’t know how to join squads (no UI)
- New WvW players don’t know why sub-groups/parties works best in 5’s
- Team builds are non-existent
- Shareable Build templates like in GW1 needed?
- TS (external program even though useful & sometimes toxic) has too many spies
- Commander tools needs enhancement
Hate it? Love it? Comments/feedbacks always welcomed!
The only masteries that are required for the raid release are Glider Basics and Updraft Use. They don’t come in to play until the third encounter.
I just think it should be the other way around, when you’re snared you really don’t want to be stuck finishing your AA animation before being able to cast vinesurge and you especially don’t want to by accident cancel that vinesurge by pressing AA a milisecond too early. The AA imo should be the one skill that’s allowed to be canceled by other moves of the weapon set.
Just add an extra description in the skill tooltip
“You might anger a lot of people if you use this skill irresponsibly”
“Every time you use this skill wrongly, a bunny dies”
and a long list of “do not use when…”
HoT = WvW players forced to PVE
Rangers are a lot better than before, and definitely are useful as snipers though in blob fights they still aren’t considered standard issue.
I find it a really silly complaint of getting sniped by one, because that is the point of a longbow ranger. This is wvw, and it’s not just about a single person being shot down. So you get distracted/cc’d and got bursted down by someone else that took advantage. It doesn’t really mean anything about anybody’s abilities.
And I leave behind this silly anecdote, because ranger jokes are always popular.
“lf2m”
— no response
“lf2m 2 guards in party”
— no response
“lf2m 2 guards in party 0 rangers”
— gets a lot of join requests.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
(edited by ArchonWing.9480)
If you combine the two longbows into a single greatbow, you should be able to shoot bears.
Think about it:
- OMG RUN IT’S A BEARBOW!
- wut? lol dude, bearbows aren’tAAAAAIIIIIIEEEE!!!!
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Could we maybe get a vendor where we can buy scrolls and tomes of knowledge for badges? I mean I love wvw but in the endless grind to pursue rewards and advancement of characters, I can’t help but feel like I’m losing out whenever I do wvw. Badges are pretty much worthless. You can buy traps and siege disablers I guess, and kind of reduce the cost in laurels of some ascended jewelry, and buy some junk gear that you’d probably better not put good upgrades in because they cannot be salvaged and cannot be sold, or even forged.
So you go out, you kill a bunch of players, and get a bunch of badges, complete achievements and get more badges…. and for what? After awhile you just stockpile them up for no purpose.
I find myself having to do sPVP lately even though I despise it partly because it’s a reliable way of getting tomes of knowledge. If I could get tomes of knowledge (I have multiple other characters still needing levels) through wvw, I could do that, something I enjoy, instead.
Like seriously, having 200g+ worth of runes and sigils being stuck in armor sets/weapons I dont use anymore really sucks.
The new pve map is like a kick in the teeth to wvw players. They have told us for over a year that it takes to long to make new maps, but they come out with a map, that with a little work, would be great for wvw.
Stay frosty! Keep it tight!
Hi everyone! I’m a commander on Henge of Denravi, NA, who has been playing since release in WvW. I’m also a former game developer (Activision) and animator myself, so I’ve bit of an insight into game development. I’m really excited to see John Corpening actively thinking what WvW can become. Thinking about competitive sports (and the recent Alliances idea) I’ve a few thoughts:
- Include PVE hourly or major updates
In Guild Wars 1 we occasionally had an update “North America has Defeated Europe” or something to that affect. I really enjoyed this as it gave the PVErs an exact connection with what was happening in Guild Wars. Occasionally those updates would include “Your World has increased X” because of some sort of win.
I imagine in Guild Wars 2, PVErs could see an update such as:
“Your World has lost half of it’s Borderlands, Consider joining the fight!”
or
“Your World has just captured and held Stonemist Castle! Hold it for an hour to increase your vitality!”
Some sort of update that encourages an actual living world. That your actions, or inaction to help defend your Borderlands, could lead to different results in PVE. Of course these would be just above minor advancements – we wouldn’t want to severly overpower someone. Gaining 5% vitality or 10% more gold from holding your own BL or SC seems significant enough to encourage you to join.
- Outnumbered should do one thing only: Half Supplies needed to build Siege
At the moment Outnumbered is a fundamentally useless attribute (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Outnumbered) given to the smaller side.
More experience won’t help, since as a low level you will not be able to gain any from the blobs destroying you. World Experience won’t help for the same reason; and if you’re coming to WvW to mine/farm you probably would fair better off in PVE (no chance of immediate death.) Magic Find is completely useless in WVW – not because finding great items is bad, but because the point of WVW is competition, not finding loot.
I propose Outnumbered has one feature only: Siege cost 50% to build. A team of 5 players with two Guild Catapults (that’s 5 players, one party, or 50 supplies total) can wreck havoc on a well fortified Borderland. Two Superior Flamerams, 50 supplies total, would also be a frustrating thorn in the side of an Outnumbering force.
- Quick Squad/Commander Menu on the Top Right of your screen
Squads, in PUG worlds like ours, are vastly underutilized. If a player joined World vs World and there was a quick list of Commanders on the top right, with the option to easily join their squad, then I think we would solve two major problems: What to do in WVW when you first join, and how to build up your Zerg/Squad to run plays.
Of course there would need to be limits, maybe only 5 Commanders can be present at once, maybe a scroll wheel to choose Commanders, maybe just an option to hide the dialog box much like we can hide Dailies. All things to think about.
- Quick Commander Commands
Something that corresponds to the current Squad commands. Maybe they are actual icons above your main attacks. It can get pretty tough to type “FALL BACK” or “ATTACK” while also trying to attack and coordinate yourself. The Squad tools are awesome, and the icon minimap stuff is handy, but again if no one near you is in your squad, or if you can’t type it out fast enough… well you’re dead.
- Dual Monitor support for your map
Seriously. Yes I run WVW with Millenium.org open in another window – but it can be late in showing you the latest information. An internal solution would be awesome.
- Bloodlust should Begin turned ON, not OFF
At no time have I ever seen Bloodlust completely captured before the world battles begin. Often it is after the fact, after everyone owns the map, or a large percentage, that someone chimes in on TeamSpeak “hey we should capture Bloodlust.” My thought: Start Major Bloodlust ON for the defending World, not OFF. This makes it more of an uphill battle for the incoming worlds. For those worlds who are constantly getting run over, this would be a great boon to them. Admittedly for those worlds currently dominating, this would only further solidify their strength.
Perhaps as a counter to this domination, Minor Bloodlust could begin at TWO captures, not three.
- Show off your World (now Alliance?) support in PVE
Thinking about the recent FIFA World Cup here, how many people showed off their pride for their side during the tournament? I think in PVE you should find a way to show off which World/Alliance you support. Wether it’s an actual banner, perhaps a back item, or even a color trail that could follow you. This is obviously a ton of work, but I feel would further reinforce the camaraderie and community Worlds currently have.
- When in doubt, eat the enemy children
Because so many of you read your 8th grade reading assignments… ;D
Alright, debate and comment away

Recently you took away the ability to access personal bank through the guild registrar. This means that now, on every map except the home borderland, you cannot access your bank until you have a fully upgraded keep. This is absolutely rediculous. Please fix this.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Finally, regarding swinging ye olde banhammer, that’s an option but if we can make some reasonable adjustments that greatly reduces the need for that option it will really be the better way to go. I would very much like to steer clear of falling back to that option in this discussion.
Thanks again for all the great suggestions!

These are the type of trolls that need to be banned. Their sole purpose of having multiple accounts is to troll servers they are against.
If players can provide clear video evidence of players walking multiple golems off cliffs on purpose, building 10 balistas right next to the supply deopt. Would we be able to get them warned and banned for multiple offences?
This requires little time for GM checking players in-game and allows players to police and provide you the evidence.
Hey guys, I wanted to pop in and make a few points about the siege disabler.
- This is a thrown projectile, and as such, can be countered by abilities that block or reflect projectiles (Shield of Absorption, Swirling Winds, etc)
- It has a ~5silver, 10 supply and 15 badge cost. This cost coupled with the above point, will likely limit the amount that these items are used to important tactical plays.
- Siege is not permanently disabled, the disabler is just meant to open up a window of opportunity. Players may choose to spread their siege out more to be less vulnerable to this tactic.
- As you are probably aware, we are adding Golem Mastery in the same update. This provides a new, viable option for countering a golem rush.
- The traps we’ve added in the past, have seen low use. So we intentionally created this trick to be a bit on the stronger side. However, it’s still hard to say exactly how it will play out in the live game, but if it ends up hurting gameplay more than helping it we are open to adjusting it in the future.
My Name is Jesus Payan, I was playing Eotm like other regular night, then . . .
-The commander in turn tell us that he is low of rams.
-I send him 50 regular rams
-Then he says, jesus payan das a lot of rams.
I SAID!! WTKITTEN!!
How did he know my name?!! hacker!! wizard?!! chuck norris?!!!
I told him! how did you know my name . . . .he just laugh!
Then i ask to my clan . . . how the kitten a commander knew my name . . . he said. . . jesus payan das a lot of rams!
One of my clan members said . . .he used “Jesus” as an expression. . . then i said . . . well this story must be on forum . . .
Evidence attached.
The end . . .
I dunno. This idea might break the game mode. I mean, I once got a blue greatsword after wiping a zerg. Imagine if that were a regular occurrence — gg economy

I’ve been wondering for a while now who has the highest possible burst in the game, and how high exactly could that burst go under ideal conditions. After a brief youtube comment section debate I decided to do the math and find out.
Rules:
- The burst must take less than one second to complete, starting from first tick of damage done.
- The target is an afk glass cannon with 1804 armor, 20k health and the magical ability to heal back to one health should it fall below zero.
- RNG magically gives the burst the best possible results – every % chance to do something that would increase the burst will happen, and every skill scores the highest possible weapon strength value. We are looking for the theoretical limit, so how likely it is to happen is completely irrelevant.
So far, I’ve done the tests on one thief build and one elementalist build, though I did use three different burst rotations for the ele. If you have a build you think could complete, post it below and we’ll see how far it goes.
(I had to split the elementalist bursts into two posts due to the size limitations. Pun may or may not be intented )
EDIT: I figured an easy to read high scores list would be handy.
1. Elementalists – 94k damage. (Build could be improved?)
2. Thief – 82k damage.

I personally believe that the obsidian sanctum should be a non-pvp area. Majority of people go there to do the amazingly difficult jumping puzzle that i for 1 adore and try to do daily.
Ok lets think about this for a second, there is like what 30 PVE jumping puzzles you can go and do freely without worrying about being killed by a player, and there are 4 in PVP enviroments that have an element of danger attached to them. Now can you see what arenanet has done here? they threw in something different, this game is not all about PVE, some of us want to kill eachother, and I will kill anyone I see in a jumping puzzle and have fun doing that.
Here’s what you do:
1. Join a WvW guild.
2. Get acquainted with said WvW guild.
3. Work your way to the top.
4. Upon guild leader’s death, take over the guild.
5. Bring guildmates into Obsidian Sanctum, murder those who murdered you.
Good Luck!
So many rams get left right in front of gates. Why cant we use enemy siege weapons that are just sitting there. Why would we destroy a siege weapon rich tower and then remake them. This includes golum suits Add a dismantal command on siege weapons recover blueprint or supply. But a tower full of siege weapons why would you destroy them.
The counter to this would be siege weapons may only be destroyed if controlled by an enemy player. Also trolls might do who knows what with this.
This might force people to defend more because enemy might gain your defenses and kick your kitten with it.
If this was changed to kitten it became something not intended
Good idea or bad idea
I heard one day PvP happened in EotM. True story.
EDIT 26 April 2014:
Unfortunately, I will not be spending my time discussing the ideas and keeping this list up to date anymore. Anyone who feels like it – you’re free to continue posting here or recreate a new thread and keep it updated. Cheers!
Here’s a list of features which would’ve let me and many other players truly “experience Guild Wars 2 as never before” ©:
1. Improved targeting system: option to display and cast AoE skills at max (“green”) distance even if cursor is out of range (particularly useful for shadowstep skills);
2. option to exclude yellow mobs from closest targets;
3. option to limit closest target to a narrow cone in front of the character (say hello to white moa at Jormag);
4. option to prioritize heaviest mobs over trash;
5. separate key to target heaviest mob (not bound by default);
6. option to always cast AoE on selected target (if it is in range);
7. option to prioritise enemies over allies when clicking to select target (Lyssa surrounded by trash and players);
8. retaining target marker on reappearing targets (Lyssa, Inquest Golem Mk II, Shatterer);
9. reworking the way in which large targets with high target point are losing focus when camera is tilted towards the grown a bit.
10. Queuing of pressed skills (so that I do not have to hold a button to get a skill cast even if I have network lags).
11. Option to turn on highly-visible cursor for aiming in zergs large-scale LS events.
12. Ability to relocate more UI elements, such as target info bar, which would allow players to see visual cues on large bosses on a 16:9 screen, as well as seeing boss buffs (retaliation/protection/condition reflection) next to their skill cooldowns.
13. Ability to relocate weapon skills.
14. Right-click on utility skill brings up skill choice pop-up (easier than aiming into a small arrow while running).
15. Option to turn the red out-of-range bar into a red/gray color tint/red cross on the skill icon.
16. Option to disable tooltips on skills (for people who use mouse to click skills).
17. Option to make buff/condition icons on target to retain their position (can be mitigated by an option to align to left/right instead of center only); an option to always display empty placeholders for boons and conditions.
18. Option to split nourishments/guild banners/bloodlust buffs/consumable timers from boons/signets/attunements, with possibility to regroup and relocate buffs from different categories.
19. Option to make buff/condition icons larger.
20. Option to turn off (or permanently collapse into tiny icons) UI elements, such as Personal Story tracker (and daily/event trackers).
21. Option to adjust camera position (higher-lower).
22. More zoom and FoV (zoom angle/perspective) options.
23. Option to hard-fix camera zoom position and make solid objects semi-transparent instead of constantly zooming in (particularly useful at jumping puzzles).
24. First-person/no character view for taking screenshots and fighting large bosses.
25. Option to change “hold right key for camera” into “click right key to toggle camera usage” (I’m running with right key pressed 90% of time).
26. Option to display player names and armour always in their respective team color instead of “blue=ally/red=enemy” in PvP and WvW. I’m totally confused every time a red enemy comes from a blue base and captures a blue point – this is a consequence of transferring from a different PvP game which always persisted team colors, and I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem. To make it worse, /team channel is of an enemy-red colour instead of current team color.
27. Slider to adjust amount/intensity of particle effects (which make events like Risen Priestess of Dwayna look like an epileptical disco).
28. Ability to pin a bag/several items from it to be always visible – especially useful for nourishments, consumables, weapons, minis.
29. Option to display bags in 2/3 columns (displaying 18 slots in one row and 2 in another makes it too high; however 20 in a row is too wide).
30. “Compact” function compacts all items in their respective bags if bags are displayed, or compacts everything if bags are merged.
31. Fractal uncommon/rare/exotic gear boxes should work with sorting gear regardless of the order in which bags are put.
32. Invisible bags should not be filled even if placed as a top bag (because it’s where the most useful stuff is stored) unless out of space.
33. Content from invisible bags should not be displayed in Mystic Forge (dear customer support, just how many precursors do you have to manually restore each week because of this “feature”?).
34. A magical bag shared by all characters (may be a gemstore item not to conflict with bank golem).
35. Allow moving items directly from Guild Bank to Bank.
36. Allow direct stacking of items which belong to the same player in Guild Bank.

It’s definitely not just because I’m lazy, but can we get some kind of WvW based exchange for Tomes of Knowledge? sPvP gets glory, PvE gets running around Lion’s Arch in circles constantly, we don’t have any.
What are your opinions?

We’ve been discussing this a lot recently and we agree that something needs to change. When we have a change that we are ready to talk about we’ll make sure to make it known to everyone.
Listen. Two months from now will be about a year and a half from release. A year and a half after GW1 release, we already had Factions and Nightfall. That’s two new continents, four new classes, two new skillsets for all classes, new PvP modes, two entirely new stories, multiple elite dungeons, and bunches of other things. At near the same point in GW2 we’ve got…Southsun? Fractals? Temporary content? Did you guys set the bar too high last time or what?
In two months we’d better be sailing ships into Cantha. Zhaitan is dead; the path is open. Let’s go already.
Also, just as the first game, body blocking would naturally be disabled in towns for obvious usability reasons.

I was roaming in WvW when I stumbled across an enemy Guardian that was decked out in fresh Gem store gear. It was at that point that I laid down my weapons and surrendered—there was no way i could compete with his beauty.
P2W i agree with OP.
