As someone who has been playing the game for a while, it feels to me that the changes to the story chapters were a huge step back. To be honest, I couldn’t give a care about doing hearts and leveling and crafting. The only reason I did them was so that I could get to the next story mission. I don’t know exactly what has changed, but it seems that a lot of the missions have been removed. It was really discouraging to log in and see that I had to get ten more levels before I could do, what i feel is, the most interesting part of the game. Especially where I was able to do two or three (if I recall correctly) per ten levels before.
I honestly got really attached to my character’s story. But it was kind of heartbreaking to see that in the journal, all the different things my character had done and experienced were no longer there.
What also really bothers me is that I have to unlock a mission before I can play it. Before I was able to attempt a story mission I was under leveled for. Sometimes I succeeded and sometimes I had a really difficult time. The point it that I liked the ability to try anyway and having it be restricted is something I would never have asked for and the bottom line is that I really do not like the new personal story structure.
Below is the quote I am mostly referencing.
“Story Chapters:
Personal story steps have been more clearly broken up into chapters that unlock every 10 levels so that each chapter can be played through immediately once it’s unlocked. Players that were already partway through a chapter may find themselves underleveled for any of the story chapters or overleveled for some of the chapter 7 and 8 steps that have moved.”
