Dear Anet. Please just put a small rock on some updraft ledges so players with high ping can access the rest of the map. Knowing that portions of the map is locked to me permanently unless I move my home elsewhere is very discouraging.
Holding space and using lean techniques don’t work with 300 to 400 ping. I don’t know the mechanics and difficulty of placing a small rock on key places but maybe you can make specific updrafts just a teensy bit lower?
Yeah, I guess that would be a problem. Whelp, at least there’s the expansion maps to look forward to.
Hm. Does diagonal 3d movement require that much work? I really thought it wouldn’t have that much of an effect on the map besides falling slowly..
Gliding around in different places sounds ridiculously fun as an alternative to doing dungeons/events/pvp, especially with a game this beautiful.
The only downside I can think of is players getting triggered at the sight gliders in the corner of their vision.
But seriously it’s just too much fun to limit it to a few maps, if you’re worried about vistas and jumping puzzles then just disable them in uncompleted maps, ez. What do you guys think?
I’ll take your lists and flip them upside down. Except for Kyhlo, Kyhlo is awesome. I prefer variety over all else, good maps can go to hell if that’s all I end up playing every time.
The only way they are going to do that is by creating new maps with mechanics that enhance gameplay without taking away from the core PvP. A vast majority of the issues with the maps you find fun come from the fact that the Mechanics are just awful.
I’m not sure which mechanic you mean but I have a nagging feeling it’s my favorite part of the match…
It’s weird how the ‘bad’ maps are the most fun, for me at least. There’s nothing more enjoyable than messing with the opponents tactics and causing havoc. I guess it’s all about priorities.
Foefire and forest are popular because they’re simple and straightforward, but it just gets real old if that’s all people play all day.
Frankly I think it’s almost impossible to make a lot of ‘good’ maps without them being clones of each other. I just want to have even a small chance at variety.
Thanks for the input. I’m simply a bit disappointed because I like using outside contraptions against the other team like the trebuchet and skyhammer.
…and who doesn’t like pushing people to their deaths right?
I’m noticing that people are choosing foefire and forest of niflhel more and more often. It’s starting to remind me of when I played CS back in college where everyone played nothing but de_dust map all day every day. That map is the one thing that I hated about CS.
Honestly I just miss the other maps, Spirit watch and the one with the giant laser specifically. I hardly ever see them anymore. Maybe Anet should increase the voting options from 3 maps to all possible maps so that the less popular ones actually have a chance. It’ll be a sad day if they disappear entirely because the great majority prefer only 1 or 2 maps.
What do you guys think?
I’ve never really seen anyone try it before though..
Besides I’ve failed the event so many times I just want the zombie zerg to go die in a fire. It would be so awesome if everyone gave those risen a good surprise and let them all BURN!!

Tried it again today. We managed to get to the nobles with just two of us. It’s more effective than I thought. :]
Frustrated that you keep failing every time you join the event even with 2 invasions and 50 players? Don’t want to wait for an organized attack from your commanders?
Despair no more! I’ve tried this once but I’ve proven that it worked:
Step 1. Gather around a dozen or so people more or less for the event.
Step 2. You know the champ giant event near the rally WP? Go there and grab the anti-giant weapon from the Charr npc before the event starts.
Step 3. One-shot every zombie horde that comes charging.
Step 4. ??? Profit!
You may want a few players using normal weapons to prevent overkill. The CDs for the special weapon are quite long and you don’t want to be caught by surprise.
I was the only one using it back then and had to go back to grab a fresh one but it was a success, no need for a second invasion or 50 people.
