@Reaper Alim, At the end of the day they still hit you 20 with 60 unlimited aoes while they get 20 unlimited aoes on their head. So please tell me how does this work to fight bigger servers?

This I understand. However that would happen regardless. What releasing the AoE cap will do however. Is take away the super zerg’s main advantage which is not the damage, but how a smaller group can’t output it’s damage against a superior sized group. The whole stack on me and let me think for you, while you are safe from a smaller group’s damage. Will be completely thrown out of the window.

This will give more coordinated, skillful players tools to kill a much larger zombie super zerg. The effect this had in ESO will transfer over to GW2. People will stop super zerging one object because of the damage mitigation current AoE caps gives.

After the dust settles and people explore their professions properly, there won’t be blobs of Scourges – other OP mechanics will be discovered within all the remaining professions. A lot of people love their main and won’t just switch to playing necromancer all of a sudden.

If these players are in organized WvW guilds. They most certainly will, or risk getting kicked out. They will then be farmed by the other servers, in their PUG squad or Unorganized guild squad. Unless they are just playing WvW for the rewards and then dip. They will find no fun to being constantly farmed. Unless they are on overstacked servers whose PUGs can farm others because of superior numbers.

Right now Spellbreakers, and Scourges are looking to take the center stage. In less than two weeks.

Reducing map queue by removing afk players

Specially at primetime many servers have huge queue in every map, meaning players who want to take part of WvW, can not. Same time there are always players just sitting at the wp doing nothing, and only taking up space from others. To prevent this, let’s kick out those who are actually afk.

Now, first we need to determine who is afk and who is, for example, scouting for enemies, discussing very important matters in team chat or just admiring the view.

1 – if you have done damage to enemy player or NPC or objective, you are not considered to be afk for next 10 minutes. Both skills and siege counts

1A – repairing objective or building siege counts same way as damaging enemy

2 – if you have not done any damage, game will now check if you have moved from one territory to another. If yes, you are not considered to be afk for next 10 minutes

3 – if you have done no damage, repaired or moved to other territory, the game will give you simple math question. You have 5 minutes to answer. Questions are similar to: how much is 15-4 or how much is 3 * 7. Just type the answer and you are not considered to be afk for 10 minutes.

4 – Next, if you have done no damage, repaired or moved around, AND you have not answered the simple math check in time AND there is currently queue to the map, you will be automatically kicked from WvW.

P.S. 10 minutes is only to give an example

Sounds like you need to switch from your overstacked server. To a lessor populated server. If you are expecting pity for being on a overstacked server. Believe me you will receive very little if any at all.

Simple solution to your issue is to just move to a lesser populated server and stop crying. Many servers are hurting for population.

Please enlight me how removing aoe cap would be a counter to an overstacked server. Like they cannot use their aoes without the cap?

It all would lead to one big thing called LAG. Have you been around before the aoe cap? I was and if you think lag is bad now you are very wrong.

Have you not fought overstacked servers? Most of the time they just stack and burn with their numerical advantage. And just win for being bigger.

To answer your question it’s simple grade school math.
-If AoE cap is only 5.
-Server A can field 60 or more players.
-Server B can field 20.
-Server C can field about 10 to15.

-Because of the huge numerical advantage Server A has, with the current game mechanics. Server A only seeks out fights were it can just stack and burn.
-Server A can land 60 AoE at a cap of five hits per player
-Server B can only land 20 AoE at a cap five hits per player.
-Server C can only land 10 to 15 AoE at a cap of five hits per player.

Since the AoE cap mechanics only allows a player to hit 5 other players. Server A just omni blobs around the map to face the smaller groups of players. Because it can effectively just stack and burn, and stack and revive. All the while only taking a 1/3 or less of the damage it’s dealing to the other servers. This is why stacking one or two servers became so popular with the “I just want easy wins and bags” crowd.

Ok moving on. All 3 server now have the same population. However, there are no AoE caps.

-Server A will still have the same power it had before.
-Servers B and C would now be able to effectively remove the advantage that server A had. Safety in stacking to mitigate damage and revives.
-Servers B and C can now effectively start punishing Server A for it mistakes. Even tho it has larger numbers the them.
-Server A players will now have to start adjusting to the smaller servers.
-Server B and C can now start to split up it’s forces. To smaller groups. Now without AoE caps. Server A will have to decide another plan, that is not just stack numbers and win.

Here is some footage from another game. With a RvRvR system. That increased it’s AoE caps from 5 to 75. This is what this would look like.

As you can see here. Yes the zerg does has the same tools as the smaller groups. However the zerg does not have the most powerful boon in a game. Decreasing mass amounts of incoming damage. Just by having superior numbers.

Removing AoE caps is the biggest nerf a game dev can give to zergs. This would lead to the better more skilled players winning. While the players who only relies on a huge numerical advantage, with AoE cap, will lose. This will encourage players to spread out as super zerging offers very little anymore. This would reward organized and skilled players as they should be.

Basically all I get out of the anti remove AoE cap corner. Is that GW2 engine can not support it WvW. Thus it’s ok for over stacked server to have no counter against them. Thus making bandwagoning to BG the ultimate META. Thus making servers like BG completely unchallengeable.

See how silly that sound? Then you have other dev teams, run into similar issues. Actually upgrading their game engine to provide a decent experience for their players. I guess this is beneath ANet to even think of doing. It’s not a legitimate excuse, when other dev teams prove it’s not.

Last time I fought against BG, which was a few weeks ago. BG seemed to always have 3 to 4 times our numbers everywhere. Me and a friend went to cap a sentry on the borderlands we was met with. These so called BG roaming groups of 12 plus player gank squads.

It got to the point where we simply could not play the game mode for a whole two weeks. But yeah I get it BG players have a monopoly on population and coverage, that ANet will not allow other servers to reach even with links. I understand you guys don’t want to lose that and like free crub stomps being handed to you all via the devs. But the rest of us just want a chance.

How often are they evaluated? I’ve been trying to transfer for weeks now and nothing is working

I feel like the only server that should be truly ranked full, is BG. Everything else should be open.

Then JQ and Mag would get flooded with transfers until they were as big as BG. None of the top 6 servers should be opened, they can be linked to make them competitive in tier 1/2 (other than with BG obviously since they got stacked so much not even linked servers can compete).

I think this is the point we are trying to make. We want to see other servers be able to officially be able to compete with BG. Since ANet will not bring the problematic back into control. We ANet to open all the servers that are not BG. Hell why not open BG too. We have map population cap for each severs. Right now no other server has the coverage and population even with their links that BG has.

That is completely unfair and not fun. Thus has lead to servers actually racing to tank in order to not have to face BG. Because BG has gained a completely unfair advantage via tricking ANet’s population counter. To open them up many times even tho already being the most populated WvW server. In order become like this.

We are begging for ANet to step in. Either drop the AoE caps in WvW only. Or remove the full server population lock, allow players to settle where they want, then close down the servers have have nearly no population. Or just completely remove the one problematic server by choice from the game.

Breaking up BG won’t work. Last time I checked BG had about 147K accounts. The WvW community is a very small portion of all those accounts. We’d coordinate, pick a low pop server and absorb their WvW community. Even if we lost some players we’d get some back.

BG has played by the rules since launch. We’ve dealt with win trading, double teams and server linking. We’ve manged to stay on top and played by the rules at the same time. We should be punished for that?

Begging Anet to wipe out a community just because it’s bigger or better than yours is pretty sad. My advice would be to take responsibility and try to strengthen your own community. Another option, and one I think Anet would like a whole lot more than angering one of their biggest servers would be for you and people like you, is to drop $30 and by and alt account. It would help you avoid BG and it would help Anet increase their revenue flow.

Nice spin there, the same “rules” that you play by are the ones that also prevent any other server from competing equally with BG.

You don’t have to break up BG as a server, just the small fraction that plays WvW.

So Anet should change to rules to appease the people who can’t win? Going down that road in any competition will ultimately ruin any game.

Servers can’t win mainly because Anet’s rules prevent equal competition.

This right here. Which again ANet just either needs to do away with the server locks altogether. This will allow other currently full servers to be able to be able to gather BG-like population and coverage.

Or we can talking about unlocking the AoE cap. This option would allow server with much less coverage and population to compete against BG’s constant hordes. Most so if the constant horde’s only strategy is to stack to mitigate damage from a smaller group of players.

But I’m afraid since this is the GW2 community I’m talking with. People would rather engage in pointless discussion about trying to destroy a server. Or the other side of the discussion making it a point to derail threads as since.

I will never understand why people bring up armor weight as if it’s a big debate point.

Maybe because heavy armor users take much less damage so they suit better for frontline?

Assume a 12,000,000 base hit.

A Berserker heavy armor wearer in Ascended takes: 5,284
A Berserker light armor wearer in Ascended takes: 6,100
A difference of 816, about 15%

A heavy armor wearer in Ascended with +1.5k Toughness takes: 3,182
A light armor wearer in Ascended with +1.5k Toughness takes: 3,461
A difference of 279, about 9%

Toughness makes a much bigger difference than armor weight. As you add more, the percentage taken between heavy armor and lower weights decreases.

That’s not to say that guards and revs are not front-liners for a reason. However, that reason is less the weight of their armor and more due to their contributions to the current boon vs. boon-strip meta.

You are correct that the toughness is more important than the type/armor weight.

But there is a difference inherent in them. If the AoE damage became nerfed then Zerg balls become more of a problem as well.

Nerf how far AoE does damage, and remove the AoE cap.

How about just remove the AoE cap. I think it’s time for omni-zerging against much inferior numbers to be not so safe. If your people rely on just stacking to avoid AoE mechanics against smaller more skilled players. Then I say it’s time for you all to L2P and stop nut hugging each other.

The harsh AoE caps is what lead to the proliferation of zerg balling with a full map with 2 or 3 tags on one spot in the first place. AoE in my opinion needs to go. ZOS learned this which brought back loads of solo and havoc players to ESO. At the height of zergballing absolute META. ESO saw the least amount of players interested in Cyrodiil Alliance War. ZOS removed nerfed the AoE cap from 5 to 75. Players in mass became more interested in the Alliance War battles. ZOS took it a step farther and took away rewards for just PvDing undefended keeps and resources. Turning ESO into a fight oriented RvR style game. That only rewards players for fighting and winning the tougher battles. Fast Forward to today. Alliance War in that game is pretty populated, and has a place for all playstyles. Even the ones outside of just stacking and burning. Because ZOS nerfed the living hell out of zerg balling, Cyrodiil is no longer a dead game mode and has map queues on all 3 factions throughout the day.

TL;DR If you want people’s interests back into WvW. And maybe get back some of the fight oriented guilds that lefted this game because of Server Stacking/OMNI-ZERG BALLING META. Unlock the AoE cap. Reward in game skill based play. Nerf, out of match and skill-less based play and METAs. Again rally behind this idea, and help lobby to remove the AoE caps. Make Omni-blobbing less safe.

Let’s make WvW great again!

OMG jelly much. I wished the people complaining actually watched BG get double teamed every week. Maybe if the other servers stop siege, spawn camping, spying, oh and using alts accounts to jam our ability to get our ppl on a map. Quit cheating and maybe you will win more. We are closed most of the time, being loyal to a server shouldn’t be punished. If we are forced to disband there will be hell to pay on whatever servers we are forced to be on. It took me 6 months to get on my daughter’s server. I finally get to play with my daughter and you want to split us up, thanks guys your awesome!

My last comment wasn’t asking you to split up, or disband. It was just putting the idea out there. Maybe ANet should just remove the population caps altogether. That way people can go where they want to.

No full server have to worry about will have to worry about population cap even tho BG has double to triple their numbers. Blackgate players don’t have to worry about getting disbanded. Actually under my last proposal Blackgate would also be giving the chance to grow it’s server some more.

Then ANet would be able to slowly start merging or closing close to or actually empty servers. Almost everyone wins here.

Here are the facts almost all of the servers coordinate tanking not to face BG. Why you might ask? Because it’s no fun being that 300 Spartans fighting the whole of the Persian army. These last few week even on my server guilds have been reduced, to purposely tank the server score. So we didn’t have to fight BG’s hordes.

Or we can revisit my other proposal about completely removing the AOE cap in WvW only. That like in ESO a smaller more coordinated group of say 8 players. Can actually have a chance against 40 mindless near-hive minded zerglings.

Only other solution I see that doesn’t remove the only problematic server we have. Is to the remove the full status from the game. Blackgate has more the double the population and in some cases triple the population and coverage, the any other full server with their links.

Since obviously BG don’t want to be destroy. Why not allow for all the servers the potential to rise to BG’s population and coverage status and beyond. All ANet would have to do is remove the population cap. Maybe even lower server map population cap.

The ultimate WvW META is when things start going rough and you are full. Just coordinate a mass hibernation. ANet will then open your already full server. Then you can just win dued to flatout having double or even triple the numbers of any other server.

Blackgate has proven this META to be absolute. ANet just needs to do away with the full server statues and give every server the opportunity to stack like Blackgate did and is.

Easy way to deal with these issues. Is to just remove yourself from the problem. It’s really that simple. We have been pleading with ANet for many month now. To remove these people from Ranked PvP in these, like other PvP titles do.

But ANet just continues to allow players, to literary troll the living hell at of other players trying to compete. Thus completely compromising to whole point of a Ranking system. So what does ANet does you ask? ANet put in PVE rewards to lure more people who don’t care about PvP. To replace the people who did care and left. Simple as that really.

Since ANet will not remove these people unless there is money involved. Even with video and suspect’s own admission in team/map chat. Then your only real choice of action. Is to avoid GW2’s Ranked PvP. There are soo many other better, fun, fair, engaging, and competitive PvP titles on the market. That if you are still getting tilted at being on teams of chronic AFKers and Rage Quitters. Then at this point that’s on you and not on ANet.

There is a reason why Bronze-like sPvP behaviors, are now also being reported as far as Platinum tier. It’s because most if not all of the players, who actually cared about competitive PvP, have lefted the game mode. Leaving you with a pool of mostly unhealthy sPvP players, to play with.

TL:DR Most of the decent to good competitive PvPers lefted because. You don’t play GW2’s sPvP for the competition. You plays GW2’s sPvP for the PvE rewards. ANet has made that clear, by not cleaning up chronic problematic players from their Ranked sPvP pool. If you are playing GW2 only for competitive PvP, I feel very very sorry for you. You are literary playing the wrong game.

Conditions can not be damage over time unless they buff condi damage scaling and make all condi damage builds have higher toughness and vitality to account for the increased time to kill.

Cleanses and resistance would also need to go.

Burst damage has always been king, and delayed damage always requires strong side benefits like the ability to easily cleave DoT’s and be rather survivable to live to see those dots to effect.

But that will never happen on a condi build that’s squishy and is being +1’d to death by daredevils and dragonhunters constantly.

I understand this. However thus us agreeing on the case condition damage must be as bursty as power damage. How about giving condition damage the same counters as power.

Weakness, protection, invulns only affects power damage. There is way way more of those, then cleanses and resistance. Thu by default making condition damage unbalanced in a player vs player environment.

Not to mention you can get hit with a condi burst, by one player for a 4k tick in one move. That condi move more then likely was instant, and on a very short CD. Also because it’s a DoT, that other player can run and hide in safety while you melt away. Hence where the unfun part of playing against these come from.

No other game I play allows DoTs to keep up with upfront damage, until after a certain time. As they do in GW2. Thus allow DoTs to be a very safe playstyle. More so in the lower rankings when you watch you team mates melt away instantly to DoTs. At that point you are unofficially fighting a 3 or 4v1 because DoTs are just too powerful. I’m starting to see Paragon’s DoTs come close to GW2’s DoTs lethality ratio. However that game also suffers from population crisis, because of grave balance, and match maker issues.

TL:DR Don’t nerf condi damage leave it as is. Either take away protection, weakness, and invulnerability. Or allow these to apply to condition damage as well. Make condition damage play just as active as power damage. If condition damage must have to same burst capability that power gets.

Season 8 My Match Making - Response Please

Some of these people are not wrong. Most of us don’t care if we are low tier’ed players. However when the match maker just feeds us streaks of unwinnable matches. Most us that did care, about improving and wining, just stops caring. Thus turning people to bad behaviors and out of match METAs. To even making people leave GW2 completely.

I barely find myself clearing 20 matches for the past 3 seasons, this one will make 4 seasons. No fun being purposely set up to lose. More so not fun being set up to go on losing streaks, because match maker is design to stack teams with either good or bad players.

Also ANet and the community has to understand. That there are games out here. That values, and provide fair and competitive matches from bronze up. So even that excuse here is mute.

If matches was fun, fair, and competitive in this game’s sPvP Ranked. I would’ve never needed to go elsewhere to get this feature. I would be able to enjoy and play this game’s sPvP Ranked even while playing in bronze tier, until I improve to move up. I’ll say I’m a gold tier 2 player, by skill. However I not going to swim thru 100s of very crappy quality matches to reach my rank. If another game is going to give me mostly high quality matches from the door.

Then we need to speak on the other difference I’ve noticed between GW2 and other titles with PvP in them. THEY POLICE THEIR PVP MODE Meanwhile infamous AFKers, idlers, and match trolls go completely unchallenged in GW2. Thus on top of a very horrible match maker system, you now have people purposely trolling others trying to legally advance, in GW2’s Ranked sPvP. All of this is what precipitated, the current population crisis in GW2’s sPvP. And ANet’s unwillingness to try to correct some of it.

TL:DR A lot of the population would have not been chased off. If GW2 had decent match quality even for the lower tier of players. Meaning the match maker and the community would have way way more players to pull from now.

Everyone should just transfer to Blackgate and sit in monster queues and then wonder why there is nobody to fight.

I’m not saying that is where the OP wants to go, but its the way the population is shifting.

It actually is where I want to go. The population happens to be shifting this way, but I just want to play with my friends lol…

BG will be the last server to re-open and if anet had any sense it would never re-open.

My crystal 8 Ball says PoF BG transfers are good for ANets bottom line. Thus BG will be opened. Even if it’s for one or two days. ANet will open BG because it knows. That alot of the current WvW community. Just want to pay to win, and just overwhelmingly zerg servers with inferior population.

It’s one of the few reasons ANet don’t put in a counter for mindless omni-blobbing. Unlock the AOE and Server caps. Lower the server map population cap. Get all servers a chance to win through skill. Not just by stacking overwhelming numbers, with the safety of very low AOE caps. Omni-Blob stack two huge squads together, in order to give smaller server no chance at counter play. Profit!

You are seeing that, AFKers and leavers are increasing because. ANet don’t punish them but rewards them. Other players simply get fed up with these people and ANet’s stance on the players and completely stop playing. Thus increasing the ratio these leavers and AFKers get put in your matches.

Also I just makes is more necessary to Map Omni blob and the stack more server to avoid losses to dying. This idea of your OP would do nothing but completely kill off WvW. More so with the huge disparity between populations of servers in the same match up.

This will make servers who are completely out numbered. Plain out not play WvW for the the whole week maybe even quit GW2 completely.

Or this will simply make stacking one or two servers the only way to play WvW. Leaving the other players on the others servers to never gain rewards or spend more time locked in spawn then actually playing WvW.

Either these are all very bad ideas. That only servers to kill off WvW, rather then save it.

I see not a single one of you are familiar with squad participation. that solves literally ever single person telling me i dont know what im talking about.

Then again maybe your just kittenting because your the one subafk shoving resources into a wall facing a treb. I however prefer players that are actively participating get rewarded greater than those that are watching game of thrones. Scouts and camp guards are always welcome to squad participation for that exact reason.

Dude give it up! Like you are digging a deeper hole man. Different people play WvW differently. I stay active personally. But who cares if someone enjoys repairing keep walls? Maybe they are doing that to help their server? Maybe they are scouts that do not like free participation, and feel like they should at least do something else? Who cares if they are pip farming? It does not affect you at all! So why so much hate toward others?

Because mindless “need 3 times the number of my enemies or I will not fight” zerglings. Always need more numbers. This is just OP’s desperate attempt at somewhat trying to achieve this goal.

A few days ago my guild had a group of 27 of us. Wiping 2 full different MAG guild blobs at a tower in EBG. The battle raged on for over 5 to 7 minutes of this tower. We held strong without demanding others to join us. We won the battle and defended the tower. We did this at the same tower two days in a row.

TL/DR OP stop leaning on overwhelming numbers to solve your problems and learn to play. That is one of the biggest problem plaguing WvW today. You people rather just stack servers/numbers and omni-blob to the point the enemy has no chance at providing a fight, or bust. Learn to play OP and let others play there own way.

Discord in a few more years down the line. Will be more popular then TS. Discord’s features out numbers TS’s. It’s just most people are afraid of change.

I used to be a anti-discord player. Now that I see the light. I actively financially support discord, optionally of course.

While I’ll agree with you here. However this would not even been a problem. If the match maker system actually worked properly in this game. I’ll let you in on a little secret.

When match maker don’t provide decent match ups to begin with. People that care about climbing have to rely on things as such. In order to stay competitive with others doing the same. Instead of MM stacking teams. It should equally distribute skill on both teams.

This will provide the groundwork for a competitive PvP environment. Thus the groundwork toward breeding a competitive PvP community to fit the environment.

Also alot of the blame should be put on the fact. ANet does not punishes infamous Ranked PvP match, AFKers, and Ragers, and Thrower trolls. Thus completely eradicating any chance in the world, for progress towards the goal. Of providing a fun, productive, and competitive PvP environment, and community. Leaving the Ranked PvP mode to completely stagnate, or even completely decline to non sustainable levels, without the emplacement of high value PvE rewards.

Which brings us full circle. To the point no one cares about anything other then PvE rewards. Which can still be gained by simi-AFKing matches. Creating a unwelcoming PvP environment for actual competitive PvPers. Thus enforces this type of absolute out of match META.

TL/DR This is also a issue created by a very underwhelming match maker system.

I mean, OP’s not wrong. Power builds need 3 stats to do damage because they were designed to be bursty (with low sustain) and condi only needs 1 or 2 because they were supposed to wear down their opponents and have enough sustain to do so.

But since Anet got rid of all the good defensive condi amulets (cele, settler) and introduced condition stacking thanks to PvE this kind of got reversed: condi builds now burst while power can go bunker (druid, scrapper, ele, to name a few).

Sadly this game is 100% PvE now, don’t even think they’ll do something about it.

You are correct. Nothing will be done about this and other issues plaguing PvP. Actually with PoF release I believe that condi damage in sPvP will be elevated. Because of the mechanics of the new elite specializations that are releasing soon.

The list of the above from my initial PvP tests and viewing. Is what I theorize classes will be doing for PvP. Condi burst is getting raised higher for sure at least in PvE and WvW. For the PoF release. Unless ANet did some last minute balancing of the up and coming elite specs. Which I have no confidence that ANet will do.

Staying on topic tho. Condi damage are and will be technically Damage over Time damage. It’s just that in GW2 atm and more then likely in the near future. The DoTs in the game does the same amount of damage per second. Without having to compromise survival, or commitment, nor is their as much DoT hate as there is up front damage hate in this game, and to top it off you don’t have to be active with DoTs for their damage to apply as you would with up front damage.

Smite and Paragon and other game’s dev teams solve this issue. It one of the most easiest issues to solve. All it takes and stat monitoring, video evidence, and even the suspect own admittance to the crime he/she is performing in the in game text chat, plus following trends.

These people are easily outed and suspending for sure at least in Smite and Paragon. I’m %100 sure about these two games. Because the devs will send you a post when you log in to the games, thanking you, and stating the person has been dealt with. They then have to create another account and then 150 plus hours of unranked matches to be able to troll rank again on their new account.

This issue will simply not be solved here in GW2. Because ANet indirectly sponsors, and approve of, these types of harmful and damaging behaviors in their Ranked Matches. Even with hardcore evidence. Crap match quality does not build a healthy population.

No matter how many PvE rewards you try to lure your PvEers in with. After the PvEers cap out on the rewards toward the middle of the season they are gone. Serious PvPers that lefted or PvPers playing other games that offers much higher match quality then GW2’s PvP. Will laugh and not think about joining this game for it’s PvP.

If the other servers are tanking in-order to not fight the overstacked BG population that no full server with links might I add, can come close to achieving. Then wouldn’t the more logical thing to do. Will be to just close off the the only problematic server, by their own making in WvW? Give them free transfers, since other servers are dying of population.

This is a clear case of what happens when the few is allow to screw things up for the many. I’ve talked to some ex BG players and they mostly say the same thing. Their is no community on that server. Just abunch of players who just abused the mechanics of the population counter, to grant themselves a huge unfair advantage against the other servers.

So in my eyes it should be no lost to the WvW community. If these cheaters was to suffer for their crimes in order for the rest of the servers, to not “HAVE TO TANK”., in order to not face the bunch of cheaters that is BG.

Only server in WvW that needs to be blown up is BG. They should suffer for cheating and purposely creating. A place where servers are forced to either tank, or not play for the week. Because these people knowingly exploited the population counter.

All that being said. None of these options will happen. Because the devs are happy with having grievers and cheaters in their game. Making game life miserable for the many others, in their game in both PvP and WvW mode. When PoF release expect to see BG open up again. Because this is GW2.

So instead of daring to complain about the people. Doing what the can to not face this server of vipers and cheaters. People should be complaining that BG is allowed to exist, even after being brought to the light, for their intentional cheating on a mass scale, as a server. Or People should be trying to convince ANet to just get rid of the full server status. Then allow all servers the opportunity to stack like BG and beyond.

On a more serious note. I think the decay is fine and working as intended. So people can’t just do placement and maybe 10 more matches and secure a higher league then someone with say 200 matches with a 150 – 50 w/l stats.

My opinion is thief is much stronger in sPvP and Roaming environments once you learn the the class. You basically become a true demigod. That being said ranger is much easier to play, but you will find yourself in a up hill battle against a good thief with a proper set up.

The entire point of raids is that they are intended to be hardcore content. A big reason why the raid team is so efficiency and producing them with high quality is that they only have to design for those interested in that challenge.

If I’m not ready for that, there’s the entire rest of the game for me to play.

So no, raids don’t need difficulty modes; there are players who want them, which is not the same thing.

If we took that logic and said “PoF is going to be a hardcore expansion, intended for the best of the best. If the casuals don’t like it don’t worry there’s tons of other content already in game for them to play!”

Now your expansion fails, people start leaving save the ~5% of “the elite”, profits go down and there’s less resources for you to support new content.

Alarmist? Maybe, but that’s where that train of thought leads. Should someone buy PoF knowing that the raids will be catered to only hardcore players, or will they go to a different MMO where they might be able to raid without as much frustration?

Regardless of whatever opinion you might have, it’s good design and good business to make your content appealing to all members of your player base.

Lol good luck with that. Sorry to be soo crude. But if you can’t make it in GW2’s raids, as a person who’ve played other MMOs. You would not stand one bit of chance elsewhere in another MMO’s raid.

ESO… Good luck if you think GW2’s raids toxic. Players will reject and ridicule you if you don’t have certain titles and gear set up.

Tera… Rip no chance in hell here for you. If you don’t grind for the gear the game will not even let you enter.

Rift.. Be prepared to get wrecked in rejected hard.

BnS… People will not even think of you unless you set up with class mastery and gear.

I could go on. GW2 in my experience has the most casual and accepting Raiding community in all of the MMORPGs I have played which is a extensive list. If you can’t make it here when it’s the easiest, may I wish you the best of luck elsewhere that nowhere near as casual as GW2. Make sure to bring lube, you’ll need it if GW2’s raids/community is too hard and or toxic for your liking.

can someone explain why guest servers that are linked with a “full” server are not locked for transfer? it makes no sense, not only do they get a server to handhold them but people can transfer there freely, thank you for the answer

“handhold”? lol, seriously do you think that just because a server has been considered small enough to support another server that it’s behind handheld? Frankly it’s the other way around. Your server is a host and has links because it can’t sustain itself either. Otherwise you would not have a linked server.

We can argue with ANet about this without being nasty to the very people that we try to have fun with in the game.. right?

In EU servers that got high population and is in t1 gets links, servers that otherwise are full status. People are transfering to guest servers that are linked with full servers to steamroll their opponents.

Yes linking was a good idea but with the introduction of rewards its not really neccesary anymore because most servers got players. If they trully want a better enviroment for everyone they should just redo the entire gamemode and close servers that are considered “empty” . Theres no reason to keep empty servers up other then allow people to play with “full” servers.

Yes roflstomping enemies is fun, but what about the ones getting roflstomped all the time? linking solved nothing.

The server getting roflstomped by these people. Will just not show up to play. I see it happening on my server. In broken match ups. Most players on my server will just not play leaving the match up even more broken for us. Eventually these people will follow suit do the same in order to not keep getting curb stomped by beyond full servers. In GW2 the saying if you can’t beat’em join’em is a favorite of what’s left of most of the WvW players.

Lets look at SoS, it seems most of these people have already started to bandwagon SoS. ANet is more then likely perfectly fine with this. As it brings them more money in the form of gem sales. Thus this is why it’s my belief that ANet will open up BG, MAG, and JQ again. Because there is a demand for curb-stomping others in lopsided WvW match ups. And ANet has the supply and the need of money. I am almost %100 sure we’ll see BG, JQ, and MAG open up for PoF expansion. Money talks B S walks.

Not really a fan of outright disabling things because a side is winning, less power sure, but not disabling.

SMC to me for the most part is fine the way it is, it’s basically a “king of the hill” game mode on the map. If you can’t take it yourself, then learn to double team it. The point of that structure IS to give an advantage to the side holding it.

I hope you realize, if the dominant server is holding it so well to t3, they probably have the power to take all your stuff without needing the siege from smc anyways. Which they most likely do when you setup trebs to hit SMC, eventually that structure will get taken to stop the trebs. SMC is also usually open somewhere, the 3rd floor trebs can be taken down with just an ac under it.

The orb was taken out because of fly hackers, not because a dominant server had the advantage, otherwise they wouldn’t have brought back bloodlust.

The problems of a dominant server lies deeper than smc, bloodlust and tactivators, and that is having greater numbers than you more often than not.

Unlock the AOE cap for servers with the outnumbered buff. Problem mostly solved.

I can’t wait for the musical chairs to stop and then big surprise for the server hoppers when Anet says "we’re undoing linking, where you are now is now your home server. All full servers will remain “full” and not open to transfer."

Then linking can be declared successful at redistributing the population!

As mentioned above biggest problem is population. U need a large amount of active players for any matchmaker to work properly otherwise u would need to w8 20 min or something for a match. Fixing the matchmaker itself is almost impossible at this point.

And if you don’t fix the match maker to give good amount of competitive matches. That is on par with other PvP games. Then people will be hard pressed to even play, let alone play it seriously. The market just has too many competitive PvP titles for people to waste time not even having fun in this one.

That is part of the problem. The matches in this game are mostly just not even worth the effort. Which starts a snowball effect of other issues following. Why play GW2’s PvP when I can go elsewhere, and get constant high quality matches even in the lower tiers?

ANet will never support a competitive environment PvP in this game. It will just ruin their bottom line simple as that. You are simple playing the wrong game is this bothers you.

It’s not about the competitiveness, it’s about match manipulation and idle players of which other games deal with accordingly via various means.

1 player being the cause of 3 logging off and playing another game hurts the bottom line more than dishonouring that 1 player breaking ToS.

But that’s just it tho. If this was truly hurting ANet’s bottom line. ANet would be all over them. So this is obviously not the case. Remember ANet are more then likely not completely losing these players.

I’ll put myself as example. I used to enjoy the living hell out of this game’s sPvP system. There used to be more good match ups then bad ones. After that reversed I, got to the point I looked elsewhere for my sPvP entertainment. I found it. Now experiencing high quality sPvP elsewhere. I’m hard press to clear 20 matches in GW2’s for the whole season. However I’ve moved my GW2’s PvP needs into WvW. However as I’m on a server that mostly just zerg with a commander or nothing. I solo roams until the other servers start dispatching roaming squad of 4 to 10 people and havoc squads of upto 20. At this point I simply go play PvP in another game altogether. I’ve for the most dropped GW2’s sPvP but still play and support the game in it’s other areas. Meaning my misery and abandonment of GW2’s sPvP did not hurt GW2’s bottom line one bit. I’m pretty sure many others are in the same boat.

Thus no real reason to ban a paying customer for another 3.

Pretty much how Db was the other weeks when we had to face BG and JQ. Just makes people not even come out to play the game mode that they prefer. Which in turns, make them lose interest in it completely, and look for other games. Thus leaving a even emptier population left over.

It’s but it really does seem like ANet has wash their hands of us WvWers. ANet has pretty much put all resources and manpower towards PvE and Gem Store items. Quality of Life in both WvW and sPvP are at a all time low compared to other non pay to win games.

A lot of former top players aren’t trying anymore and spend time in ranked playing fun builds over viable ones (NA). They got their titles and have no interest playing that seriously with the game in its current state.

Yes I noticed it. Those top players usually go afk as soon as someone does something they do not like while bragging about their own skill in chat. They achieved their goals and do not care if they ruin it for others anymore

Straight BS, the AFK’rs and map ragers are the 1550 rated, former duel server stars

- The most potent and most-common small-scale classes aside from cases where things end up totally overpowered tend to be ones which are absolutely useless in zerg fights. When was the last time you saw a commander ask for rangers, thieves, or mesmers (outside of a veil/portal/blur bot)? They’re basically useless in big-scale encounters, unfortunately by design.

To give a little bit to the mesmer class here.
I’ve never been turned away from an organized group for playing a support chrono.

Boon sharing resistance is still pretty important, especially since everyone’s boons end up corrupted most of the time anyway.

Not to mention dropping gravity wells deep on a group’s back line can flat out stop small organized groups from standing a chance against your larger, less organized zerg.

I haven’t been in T1 in the past few months, so maybe things have changed, but last I knew, since the changes to boon sharing the mesmer was no longer included as part of the meta which is why I excluded boonsharing from the list.

Upped usage of necromancers and condi reapers and the likes for mass corruption pushed them hard out of their prior purpose AFAIK.

There’s a degree of utility which any profession can bring – I frontlined a bursty power thief meant for target prioritization/pin sniping in most groups up until this last patch which removed my build from the game – but there does come a point when people need to understand “yeah, I’d generally be more useful on a guard if I were equally as good on it.”

The mesmer has the ability to make some pretty big moves in highly organized groups, but historically so have thieves and mesmers. Most open raids won’t kick by profession choice – it’s why they’re open raids – and always want you playing your best, whatever profession that is. That doesn’t mean they aren’t secretly hoping for more of what’s on the top-end of useful.

Afaik it’s still reasonable to bring mesmers. Generally boons don’t last long enough that the change is going to screw anything over anyway.

Not that I’m on a T1 server, because frankly, I prefer my 20 man organized havoc groups over constantly running a blob.

I was thinking the same thing. My guild barely gets a squad of 20 for our WvW raids. And this guy is rolling in 20 man havoc groups. kittening ah, no wonder WvW is completely screwed.

I recently made a topic anet should bring back team deathmatch maps.
Simultaneously, King of the Hill, Death of the King, Capture the Flag, or the gw1 Jade Quarry seem like lovable ideas.
Im wholeheartedly agreeing that 3-capture-point maps have become stale, and all they promote is bunkerbuilds

Don’t forget about thieves. They are the main game changer. They have super mobility, burst damage both power and condi, and a reliable access to stealth.

Knock back and rapidfire isn’t enough to kill condi reaper. Full berserkker gear should give at least 3500 power and 240% crit dmg. Really kittens me off when i stand in tower wall and condi reaper run past and i outplay him laika boss, but he doesn’t die.

I can say the same for Trailblazer Mesmer and Condi Warrior and the Condi Guardian. It’s not just the Condi Reaper the creates this problem. It’s the fact that ANet really does not make any attempts to balance WvW what so ever.

Another problem is that there is so much power hate in this game. And not nearly as much condi hate. I mean if we are going to give condition damage the same burst as power. Then the same hate for power needs to now apply to the condititon damage side of damage. Because as it stands right now.

Through the mechanics of class abilities and playstyle. Condition damage builds have taking center stage in PvE. Meaning they deal more DPS then a power build yet offers better survival then power based options. So when you take this information and stack it up against a player instead of a boss with huge health pools. Anybody can see have overpowerly broken condititon damage is compared to power based damage.

However I’m a firm believer. That ANet simply only cares about PvE balancing and only does minor damage control for the other parts of the game. Therefor condition damage is as it is today. That’s because the business model is not about having competitive game play. But being the most modern casual non pay to win game on the market.

Therefor GW2 has really no chance of dying yet. Because the casual gamers who have no where else to go will simply kitten to this game in droves. Enjoy your AFKers in PvP. Enjoy your bandwagoners in WvW. And last but not least enjoy your highly lopsided matchups in both game modes. Only GW2 can be successful, by allowing for such to go unpunished and unattended.

Nothing wrong with it. It’s just, is what it is. Trying to play it as something else is silly.

Because GW2 is a highly casual PvE oriented MMORPG. PvP and WvW are treat as nothing more then side attractions, by this dev team.

My guess is they don’t have the staffing to promote engaging combat in all three of the modes. Therefor they settled with consolidating, their resources for the safer and low maintenance modes and features of this game. PvE and Gem store items.

Cant say Im not guilty of this, but I also want to shove some blame to the commanders.
You cant follow commanders if you want pips at all, since commanders wait hours and hours after taking an objective so your participation will always drop. And I hate followimg them because its so boring. Commanders ALWAYS avoid fights. Follow them and you’ll be sure to never get into a fight with other players. Every time a small enemy group appears when a com is taking a castle its complete evacuation.

I entered wvw under the premise there would be these big skirmishes and fights between enemy servers, but instead its three groups that avoid all interaction and play rock-paper-scissors in taking towers and keeps.

So unless wvw becomes a bit more exciting i dont see why it should be more than a reward dispenser

I agree, it’s sad that this is all WvW is at this point. A reward dispenser. Even with my guild commander, we spend most of the time PvDing and running from the zergs that out number us. But this is what RvR is in this game. A PvE-ish reward show.

Condition spam isn’t the issue. Its simply another avenue of attack. If there were no conditions in this game but every attack involved 10~30 packets of damage, you’d get the same people crying over the same things.

The perceived issue of condition spam is actually the visibility of it. Too much of SPvP is determined by clusterkitten team fights with a billion AoE effects going off, most of which are condition based, that people feel like they have no defense for.

Conditions are great to play against, you take enough cleanses and fights become a matter of knowing when to use your cleanses. My strategy for this season has been taking a meta build, shaving off some of its DPS capabilities for additional cleanses for most of the classes I play.

I highly agree with this. However when you are in match that is really for all intents and purposes, is a 1 v 5 because you are the only one on your team. That can figure this out. It doesn’t matter condition spam done snowballed enoth of your teammates. Till you are left with a drawn out losing battle. But make sure to say your gg at the end of the match.

Try a actually PvP game and see how they deal with different forms of attacks and AOEs. It’s completely opposite to how ANet deals with it in there game.

Of course some can dare to say ANet simply don’t care to deal with it at all. Others can dare to say ANet is pushing condition damage spam in retribution to the years of Zerk META. Others can dare to say ANet if just pushing the game in a direction to milk as much money out of it with the lowest amount of maintenance possible.

TL/DR – You are playing the wrong game for if you think condi spam makes pvp unfun. It provides the most casual gameplay possible, and it’s condition damage turn to shine in the sun.

I would love to see more game modes, but sadly i do not think it will ever happen. I am convinced that no matter what Anet comes up with, the majority of people will still prefer conquest because of the lazy gameplay and tremendous advantage it offers to classes that can claim an aoe area with the idiotic condi spam we have today. There isn’t a single match without 4 guardians , time to start realizing why. Anet is simply providing what the majority of people like to play. They tried, and failed. Can’t blame them for putting their resources somewhere else.

But most players don’t realize this. Or they just flat out ignore this realization. GW2’s sPvP competitive scene died when GW2 got dropped by ESL. The final nail in the coffin was when ANet decide to not make a match make to compensate for mass exodus of actual PvPers from sPvP. Thus making sPvP in GW2 unrewarding for most. They just get their end chest and don’t look back till next season. Because other then that. It has no entertainment value.

You are forced with a choice. Either be happy with GW2’s version of conquest. Or look for different PvP game modes in other PvP titles. Other then that you are just being funny, just like I am now. Trying to reason with that which can not be reasoned with. So go on continue to bring unneeded unhappiness, to your selves through a video game HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Lol this discussion again. You all do know these discussions fall on deaf ears outside the those adversely effective.

If you are a competitive pvp that’s not abusing out of match METAs with a duo partner. And you are not just Yolo queuing ranked without a care in the world of winning or losing. You all my friends are simply collateral damage. You all are bound to be not longed for this game’s sPvP mode.

My honest advice. Seek shelter somewhere that’s going to give it to you. Stop trying to force a place that not your home to become your home. It’s just not going to happen.

You can ignore all the writing on the wall. However it still will remain on the wall. Nothing you can do to change it. So you might as well change yourself and move on.
