not only that but they have skills that are better than warriors. Just 1 example is Elixir U, is better than Frenzy and could be made with shorter cool down (Elixir B as well combines 1 warrior skill and a trait with longer last time in retaliation). They wanna talk balance in this game maybe they need to fix these type of things.

Engineer has stronger utility skills and a stronger core mechanic (toolbelt) as compensation for not having a weapon swap.

Healing Turret is fine. And Gyro times logic.

Shredder Gyro has the same summoning animation as Personal Battering Ram but even slower lol.
But I dont care much about shredder gyro. The blast gyro on the other hand could have been pretty fun to use but they ruined it for me that it only can be activated when you have a target, the throwing of the tag announcing to your enemy that you are sending a slow moving gyro on its way which may or may not detonate when they meet eachother (really dumb ai) even if you try to summon it and detonate it manually in melee range it takes like 1-1.5 seconds which is long.

Perplexity runes need a big nerf (to much confusion spam). Im fine with dire or condition builds in general. (power builds can just be as cheesy). I also liked the confusion that only did damage on skill use beter (now you get punished no mather what you do).

They wanted to nerf Elite spec damage reduction spam ( I assume) by nerfing a core trait that has been untouched/ok for years…. Nerfed core spec to balance elite spec like they always do.

Where is your proof about your statement?

I roam on a daily basis and i fight and see more hammer engineers then rifle, p/p or p/s ones. Most of my guildies play mostly hammer builds, most of the veteran engineers i know on my server play mostly hammer builds. (I play in mid to low tier by the way). Do you want me to record all my gameplay to convince you of the obvious or something?

Now tell me what you are willing to sacrifice for a weapon swap.

Trapper thieves (and perplexity condi mesmers) lack reasonable counterplay possibilities.

I had to incorporate Lock On into my build just to be able to deal with these stealth abusers (i dont need reveal for all the other stealth builds).
Not all classes/builds have the luxury of having reveals and I fully understand their well warranted frustration. Trapper thieves have to be dealt with.

i would prefer to remove the invul from scrapper to fix it ( the passive trait. if you wan’t to bring the skill instead you are free to do ) and fix slip shoes ( all run in circle to exploit the proc, which can’t be dodged. and still has not be fixed ).

Self regulating defenses is a core engi trait not a scrappers. I would hate to see core engi being nerfed ( the trait exists for years) especially while elite specs are so strong.

I much rather would see a recharge cooldown on the “ENGAGE Photon Forge” instead of the current 6 sec deactivation cooldown on “Deactivate Photon Forge”. This way you can still decide to instantly bail out of Photon Forge Mode if you require a skill from your kits or main hand weapon. The current cost: loss of different F5 skills, locking you out of your kits and main hand weapon for 6 seconds , locking you into a possibly self destructive transformation mode for 6 seconds plus the loss of many reactive playstyle possibilities for 6 seconds makes this engineer elite spec verry unintresting for me.

I almost never get salty whispers and i roam alot. Many players also deserve the unpleasant whispers they get (intentional duel disrupters, condi mesmers, troll corpsjumpers , … )

So you get many salty whispers?
Have you reflected on your own actions first before making this thread?

Amazing so another thing ANET should fix i geuss. Sad enough that players do this just to show how salty they are. Thank you for your response.

Being able to whisper enemies is verry handy to ask for duels/advice , …. .
This is not something anet should change imo. (unless they make communicating to enemies easier)

DBL is a verry fun map if you like scouting,small scale fights and soloing/duoing objectives.. It’s not hard to get around now that the barriers are gone + map changed a little. I dont care much about ppt (unfair borderland map distribution). On ABD you could also glitch into objectives but that was no reason to get rid of the whole map (they just fixed the map).

I would not call kits and elixir x useless for the most part (sure tornado and some kits could use buffs). Are you talking about core engi or scrapper included? The #1 on harpoon is really slow but you can use elixir gun underwater, its really fast and besides underwater combat is verry unbalanced (pet res for example) people generally dont care much about it anyway i think. As for “Anyone else think engi could be better?” in WvW roaming some core engi builds can compete with the elite specs.

You mean fumigate? fumigate only removes condies on allies (not yourself) you also have to hit your allies with it in order to work.

To the people crying over and over that this game is pay to win, I only have 1 thing to say to you.
Buy the god kitten game. It’s currently 44.99£ on the website. If you can’t afford that, then you probably shouldn’t waste your time playing games anyway, much less spend time on the kittening forums complaining about it.

Arenanet is a company, with employees. As any coorporation with people on a payroll, they need money to come in. You complain about them adding new skins, new mini’s and even a new expansion. Is there no pleasing you? Insatiable kittens.

Rant over.

Just because people cry about gw2 being pay2win doesn’t mean they have not purchased HOT yet. Lots of people want the core specs to be generally on the same level as the elite specs so there is more viable build diversity and not just the elite specs that dominate.

If I understand it correctly, everytime you activate “Photon Forge” you can’t reach your weapon set or use kits for the next 6 seconds, locking you out of lots of survivability skills. I hope this doesn’t turn out to be too risky to play.

power scrapper vs Everything else: WvW/Spvp

It’s common knowledge that there still is a lot of work to be done on the engineer traits, It’s good that Wooden Potatoes addressed this issue in his video (although much from a PVE’ers perspective).

I refrained from playing power scrapper because the playstyle of all the serious WVW scrapper roaming builds did not intrest me (too much melee orientated, too kiteable).

I would try to achieve an increase in serious (non yolo) power scrapper build/playstyle diversity and range damage by buffing gadgets and fixing the tools traitline.

My suggestion:
-Fix the bug of “Long Fused Powder pack” so it explodes after 1 second instead of the incorrect 2 seconds it does now

Buff gadgets by introducing strong traits:
-Change “Gadgeteer” to a usefull trait (eg. 20% cd reduction on all gadgets and allow gadgets in the elite slot) ( A.E.D. excluded? or with an increase cd in the elite slot?)
-Change the minor trait “Excessive Energy” to a usefull minor trait (eg. Do +10% damage when endurance is full and using a gadget removes 2 conditions” (gadget toolbelt skills excluded)).

Do gadgets buffs:
-Removing the random placements of the mines from “Mine Field”.
-Make “Launch Personal Battering Ram” pierce.
-Add stability here or there so a gadget can be used for stomping.

Other tool trait changes (Not necessarily for scrapper or gadgets buffs but I just want to be complete with my tools traitline suggestions):
-Don’t let a blind trigger “Reactive Lenses”
-Increase the instant recharge duration of “Kinetic Battery” from 8s to 30s
-Give “Streamlined Kits” a 5s icd and remove the spell effects it triggers, that way it’s more usefull in combination with “Invigorating Speed” just like pre 23/06/2015 patch, plus you don’t lose your mobility for long when your swiftness boon gets corrupted/stolen.
-Revert the recharge reduction from “Power Wrench” back to 20% BUT decrease the cooldown of “Gear Shield” block to 16s base (13s when traited).

(This all with a “Tranquilizer Dart” range increase (1200 range) and a “Grenade/Mortar Kit” baseline buff (increased travel velocity) to improve/make possible reasonable sustain range damage while being kited )

Yes, or they could slightly increase the 0.5s delay and save lots of engineer lives in the years to come. This is such an impactfull and easy to implement quality of life change.

Or (and this is just a suggestion) start paying attention to your surroundings and blast the water field when it’s there

Make Nourishment duration stack. It’s really annoying to check every 10 minutes how long your nourishment buffs will last and lots of its vallue goes to waste because you refresh your buffs before they run out.

It isn’t really usefull anymore for powerbuilds but since it already does 1523 + 3046 burning damage on my cele build (balthazar runes), surely Im not the only one who thinks its a pretty strong attack for condi builds?

Only the elixir skills from the elixir gun give you the HGH benefits (healing mist, acid bomb and super elixir (the tooltip says they are elixirs)). healing mist and super elixir also get affected by alchemical tinctures.

If you want build advice you first need to tell us for what game mode (pvp , wvw, pve content …).

Why can’t we vouch Gems to back WELL SPECIFIED (community suggested/ anet approved) projects which the gw2 communities think should be completed. (More balance patches, unused trait overhauls, UI improvements, …)? That way we can directly finance the betterment of this game at an increased speed (more devs can be hired). I think it’s a good way to stop/slow the dying of of certain game modes because of neglect (devs seem to have other priorities/unaware of important grievances) and a good way to figure out what players truly find important.

example:
1) A community requests a change/overhaul somewhere.
2) Anet accepts it as a worthy project, puts it on a list in the gem store and names a price next to it. (ex: 200 000 gems)
3) Players can then vouch gems in the gem store (locking up those gems as long as they want to back the project, but still retrievable if they dont want to back it anymore) to back a project and once the total amount of gems vouched by the community reaches the Anet requested price, Anet can accept the project, remove all the (at that time vouched) gems out of the players accounts and do what was promised.

So you want a second weapon (weapon swap i assume you mean) in exchange for what? What are you willing to sacrifice for it? Adding a weapon swap will only lead to our utility skills (kits especially) to be nerfed. You think that is gonna enhance our adaptability/flexibility?

If you want a WVW rifle/flamethrower hybrid roaming build use the one in my signature. (not for PVP) I wouldn’t recommend rocket boots over either elixir gun (condi cleans, stunbreaker, mobility) or tool kit (block, cc, condi + power damage). As an engineer you are not going to be (nearly) the fastest on the battlefield and taking rocket boots wont change that.

Lets discuss if the damage done by the skill (on an average condi build) is a good trade-off for the effort you must put in the skill to land taking into account the fairly low cooldown or if the mechanics should be changed.

According to my experiences:

The first part of the skill “Flame Blast” is easy enough to land (the damage seems to trigger over a pretty wide area when the ball makes its way past the enemy (I wonder how wide actually) , I tested it on golems but I dont know how their hitbox sizes are compared to those of player characters)

The second part of the skill “Detonate Flame Blast” is even easier to land since it is a 240 radius AOE skill which you can:
-detonate at will ( manually detonating takes a bit of time when you are not close to the enemy since the pre-cast and travel speed is pretty slow and you cant do anything else when waiting untill the fire ball is close enough to the enemy)
-detonate automatically (if you are confident that your positioning relative to the enemies distance/travel speed/direction is good, the pre-cast still is pretty slow though)

Making it a ground targeted skill allows you to attack in all directions (not just to the front) which would be a serious buff.

Trying to land a Flameblast on an daredevil can be quite frustrating (experienced when I played a full power build (pre patch)) but most builds are easely hit imo.

WVW needs tags (like commander tag but in different shapes) for smaller groups (ex. Scout tag (1 person), party tag (1-5 people), small group tag (6-15),…)
This way people dont mistake a scout for a commander and a commander for a scout. This is important so people understand how many people are where and where they should run to if they want to help.

-Make it possible to use those tag while in a squad (it’s anoying that only the commander can use a tag currently)
-Make it also possible to untag (every tag) without having to leave the squad. (also verry annoying currently)
-Add some sort of glow option that can be toggled to indicate a tag is in combat or has seen something important, something to draw attention with the increased amount of tags

Weapon Kit damage

Kit damage is affected by the STATS that you have.

The higher your stats that affect damage (power, precision, ferocity, expertise, condition damage,…) the more damage you will deal. A ascended weapon will give you more stats then an exotic weapon but that does not yet mean that you will do more damage if you equip the higher quality weapon. Its the type of stats that are important. for example: equiping a “Nomad” type weapon which gives “vitality”, “toughness” and “healing power” stats will have no effect on the damage you will deal.
Equiping an ascended berserker weapon ( 251 power, 179 precision, 179 ferocity) will get you a beter DIRECT damage output then equiping an exotic berserker weapon (239 power, 171 precision , 171 ferocity).

Patch note says:
Turrets: Added a 0.5-second recharge delay to detonate-turret skills, when a turret is first placed, in order to prevent accidental detonation.

Well they ALMOST solved the problem of detonating before overcharging but I can still manage to detonate before the overcharge kicks in when I spam the healing button
if anyone knows how to inform the devs about this that would be cool because now is the time that most of such issues will be resolved (patches)
