Suggest new set of wings angel, devil etc

I don’t think you would switch to an asia grinder just for the wings in first place …

Nope, but I’ll quote myself from a different thread:

For me, aesthetics are very important – I had a hard time persuading myself to try GW2 because non-magical medieval setting is ultimately boring to me; I looked at dresses of Blade and Soul, I looked at cute Elins of Tera Online, I looked at their cool looking spells and fantasy worlds and I just couldn’t believe that I was going to walk among wooden barns of Queensdale instead. I also knew I would never try WoW or Wildstar for the same reasons. Still, there were sylvari – a local equivalent of elves, and I gave it a try.

I know that GW2 has a different setting for a reason, but it doesn’t negate the fact that some players, including me, couldn’t care less about generic medieval settings as well as non-magical “mutants” like ogres, zombies, skritts etc. We have a whole steampunk concept with an excuse of “another dimension” in the game, and we have glowing weapons and fiery armours which do not set people on fire – so I do not really understand why ANet cannot cater to the English-speaking fraction of people who adore Asian fantasy styles by adding things similar to magical wings and animal ears/tails. Cantha, anyone?

[Constructive] Whole-map event vs. Zerg & AFK

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Phone call, mouse batteries died, kids woke up,spilled something on your keyboard, went to get a drink.

These are all everyday things that can happen and people need to go afk.

There is nothing that can or should be done with this. Reason being someone can put 10x’s the effort of you in and have to afk for 30 seconds to 1 min for something(stuff happens) and come back. By that time people like you report them.

How right does that sound?

Don’t care to check your mouse batteries? To make sure nothing spills on keyboard? To finish drink and toilet runs before a group event?

Just don’t hope for a full reward then. I’m not suggesting to ban your account for AFKing. I suggest that you get a lot when you do a lot, get something when you do something and get a repair bill and a kick out of the map when you’re doing nothing and simply take up space.

and that’s where you fail. it’s not exploiting, it’s creative playing.

Care to hear a dev’s response to that?

•To discourage zerging in both miasma and escort events, scaling must be made VERY steep. That means that a miasma event should be extremely easily done with 5 players (even the Molten one), however 20 players in the infamous “children escort” would spawn so many champs that they would wipe all these players in 10 seconds (and supposedly despawn after some time).

How is this NOT forcing people to play the way you want?

Because you can still farm in 8 groups of 5 (aka “parties”) instead of 1 group of 40 as easily and as rewarding but also contributing to the event?

during the marionette I had the same. I had to do it multiple times and it came up once every x hours so I put my char there waiting for it to pop up. Of course I am not going to stare at my screen the whole time. I do other stuff in the mean time. It happened twice that when I came back there where two chest thanking me for my participation. I did not even do it on purpose but I can understand that some people do it so they can cheat out under the boring grind they might find required to do because of the temporary achievements.

I’m not really against camping your server as long as you do it to participate in the event and not leech. However if you are not considerate enough to come back in time for event, I would prefer the game to remove your character from the map so that active players can join.

Carapace armor cost

1000 crests isn’t even that hard to get. You also get one for completing the story chapter, and you can get them from lost bandit chests.

So you get easily get (at minimum) 250 crests an hour…

that means you will have to “grind” and “farm” a maximum of 4 hours for this so called “legendary” armor…

I’m afraid that 4×250=1000, not 1000. So it’s 8 hours for 2 shoulder skins. Assuming all 6 piece chests cost only 1000 crests (and not some 3000 for chest), even under ideal circumstances of doing all events in the map and tagging multiple bosses, that is 8×6=48 hours of grinding Silverwastes, 6 days of 8-hour grinding of a single map extra to the time spend for the story itself.

Lightenbird after reading your comments here I’ve decided to do fractals

Took the group i joined around 2:34 minutes to reach 3rd map’s last boss.

By this time we got 1 of the players afk multiple times and eventually leave.

We got 1 of the other guys start raging and make 1 more of the players leave.

So basically I’ve been put into situation I’ve spend around 3h and not being able to acquire the item i was there for.

No offense but I see no logic for you to be here except deliberately trolling people who just ask for mare variety.

Thank you for your involvement in this topic but you have no reason to be opposite to this idea which is just an improvement and adds variety.

If you like Fractals and trolling people in fractals that much – do it but you have no right to troll wvw players who ask for support here.

It’s a game we all bought with money for different reasons – you may enjoy fractals same as we bought this game because we enjoy wvw.

I agree that 1st experience is not always the most pleasant one. Just like for a PvE player who gets into WvW for a Mistforged skin or world completion and gets called a “PvE scrub”. Why? Because they lack experience. Same goes for any other game mode.

“PvE scrubs” are called “PvE scrubs” because of our alleged lack of skill, and WvW people insist on having WvW map requirement stay intact because PvE people should suffer while getting map completion or ranks for gift of battle and should eventually get better while fighting real people instead of braindead AI. PvE is, on the other hand, mindless pew-pew in the eyes of WvW people, so I don’t really understand why it’s so hard to go and do 5 fractals then with your 5 WvW friends. Or if it actually is hard… then something doesn’t match here.

Here’s a couple of other advices:

  • Read guides about fractals on the Internet. They’re pretty easy once you know what to do. Then try again and lead people.
  • Try joining a guild and do runs with like-minded friendly people. Many people are happy to carry a newbie.
  • Ask around if people want to sell you a fractal run. It’s not popular, but someone may want to do it; maybe someone in a guild wants to 4-man it.
  • I think people like you and others from this thread may join together and overcome this difficulty. There’s also a dungeon forum here where you, say, can post a thread looking for mentors or dungeon sellers.

As for me, I never troll people, doubly so in dungeons, I’m the last to ragequit usually, and I’m okay with spending 2-3 hours on something I’ve never done like Aetherpath.

As you said, we all have bought the game for different things, but this is an MMO and a large world where you have to do many things to get everything you want. If you’re better with it, you can think of PvE as a different game, and the backpack as a reward for that different game; in which case you can simply think of it as something not obtainable at all in “your” game, and forget it. Or… you can accept that the world is vast, and to get everything, you have to do a lot, even things you don’t normally do, and do your best to reach the goal.

While I agree in principal, this is a living story reward not a FotM reward. People should not have to do FotM to get the final reward from the living story. This is a poor decision on ANet’s part and they should give us some alternatives for getting a mist stone.

What’s the difference between requiring to do jumping puzzles, mini dungeons, to get ascended mats from bosses/dungeons/temples, and FoTM? Ascended equipment is closely connected to Fractals – only it can receive agony infusions. With the same logic, you should never step out of Dry Top to get that reward, but you do.

ArenaNet: PLEASE at least add an option for Leeching to the report menu so we can correctly identify why we are reporting a player. The AFKers try to scare people away from reporting them by saying “You can’t report me, there’s not an AFK option, you’ll get in trouble instead for a false report” which keeps a lot of people from filing the report.

I do not approve of leeching in this fight, but after doing a couple of runs, the AFK thing seemed like a perfect solution to the problem. And you know, in this specific case I feel that reporting AFKers here is similar to reporting goats for eating beautiful flowers because the farmer was not smart enough to lock the garden gate.

i suggest to punish leavers, lower-leveled players, norn, asuras, humans and everyone who breathes aswell. in my experience, afking was the only way after 11 try to get two achievements. deal with it.

^ exactly the way of thought which contributes to the current state of real world.

No thank you. Instead of doing an achievement through an “exploit”, I will not do it at all (since these achievements require me to wait for corrects buffs without crossing lasers and thus not DPS for 75% of my time and thus put other people’s success at risk) and instead post a constructive thread on the forum which can tell devs why their ideas were bad.

"Play How I Want" Is Gone

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

This is a double standard.

You’re mad at players who defend a change to the game that’s good for them , but you’re not mad at players who complain about a change which might well be good for the game, but isn’t good for them. You really can’t have it both ways.

I can have it both ways.

There are two types of disagreeing:

  • The new system fits my needs, and I’m happy. I can now get more rewards and faster, compared to the old system. I’m sorry that your playstyle didn’t fit in it, and you’re unhappy about the change, but my happiness is more important to me than your happiness, so I will defend this system.
  • The new system fits my needs, and I don’t care about anyone else’s experience. I had to grind while you were enjoying the game – and now I’m happy that you will be grinding and I will be enjoying the game instead! So shut up and stop whining, your whining means nothing because ANet said that my way is the correct one now, and if you don’t, I’ll keep coming and saying that you’re wrong, completely ignoring your problems and presenting my benefits as absolute.

I can respect the first type of disagreeing, and I loathe the second one.

Also, I’d like to point out there’s “no winning” anyway here. If they listen to one group of players, another group of players is thus “ignored”, if they hear what players want and don’t agree with it, they’re also “not listening” or “destroying the game”.

So really this sort of complaint is obvious to those who can step back from the matter. There’s nothing ANet’s developers can do which isn’t going to earn them the “they don’t listen to players” type of scorn. My advice thus is completely ignore them anyway since you’ll be nailed to a cross over whatever you do.

There is a lot of things that can make the definite majority happy, but

  • these things require more resources,
  • these things require compromising between business monopoly’s needs and client’s need.

Let’s take the wardrobe system:

  • Convert town clothes to dyeable outfits. Even that way, far more people would’ve been happy.
  • …or convert town clothes and costumes to mixable armor skins – requires quite a lot of resources, but everyone’s happy.
  • …or keep town clothes and costumes along with outfits and armour – requires some system tweaking.
  • Remove transmutation cost for sub-80 armour – compromise between money (feeding on clueless newbies and fashion rushers) and user-friendliness.
  • Introduce PvP tracks with transmutation charges straight away to please the PvP community.

Let’s take dailies:

  • Add more generic but laaarge achievements for players playing PvE for a considerable time each day (view vista in map or kill 50 mobs anywhere; do 4 events in map, 10 events anywhere or do a dungeon; gather 4 plants in map, 10 anything anywhere or salvage 40 items) – compromise between goals and user-friendliness.
  • Fix event scaling – lots of resources.
  • Make PvP “Profession Wins” random per player.

As you can see, all this things can be done, and most players will be happy. Of course there always will be a very specific minority (hi, AP hunters and WvW solo roamers), and there always will be entitled kids, but there’s also the happy majority which will help you defend any friendly system.

Misconceptions regarding Level gating.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

Colin,

just wanted to jump in and say thank you for saying what you said. While I still have a very negative impression of the changes in leveling system, and still a very skeptic view on metrics you’re talking about, publicly admitting problems and publicly defending your reasoning goes a long way from the grieving silence of the 1st Feature Patch. I really hope that admitted problems get fixed and not just admitted and left for good, and I wished that reasoning had more official data for us, the community, to analyze and believe in… but I also understand that formal policies put a lot of limits on what can and should be said.

Highlights of my view on the leveling changes:

Best:

  • Rewards. Rewards are always good, but only if they’re something new, not if that’s something you take away from someone and then present as a “reward” back. So, a trinket or a booster is a good reward; unlocking downed skills is a bad reward.

Worst:

  • Weapon skill gating. Learning skills for each weapon one by one was the most intuitive, best and exciting feature when I got this game – and I never played a serious RPG or an MMO before! I killed mobs and searched for events to kill more to check what that next half-learned skill with a cool name did… then I searched for new weapons and did it again, because it was fun, and fun is the best reward I can get from a game. This should definitely be brought back.

My personal “fix-it-fast-and-make-it-better”:

  • Stop calling “Asura Gates”, “Trading Post” and other core features “rewards”! That’s a very large part of that widespread misconception. Instead, turn them into hints and clearly name them as such, even if it stays in the same reward pop-up; like, “HINT: Trading Posts are now displayed on your minimap! You can do X and Y with them! Check it out if you haven’t done so yet!”, not “You have unlocked Trading Post, yay!”

Colin, just clear up one thing – There is 0% chance EU/NA GW2 gets a VIP system?

We’re absolutely not bringing the China VIP system to NA/EU, correct.

Are you also absolutely not bringing the NA/EU VIP system to NA/EU?

We Needed Silver And Gold Blitz Achievements!

in Festival of the Four Winds

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

Let’s face it: many people grind achievements in the same manner as they grind gold.

(I’m sure that) many people open the Achievements panel right after the patch hits to see what they’re supposed to, well, achieve. And here comes the problem!

They see:

  • Kill 50 X Mobs (3 AP each)
  • Kill A-F Boss (1 AP each)
  • Complete Event 10 Times (7 AP)

…which are typical zergfest achievements which require grind, but not skill. Yet, the event is anti-zerg.

People see these achievements and go farm them, and seeing no loot they are naturally getting irritated. They see no incentive in doing these events, and grinding mobs is a chore instead of fun. It’s actually, again, counter-productive – same as before in previous LS events.

Now, let’s imagine they saw these achievements in the panel:

  • Kill 10 X Mobs (1 AP each)
  • Kill A-F Bosses (1 AP each)
  • Get Gold Award in Boss Blitz 1 time (15 AP)
  • Get Silver Award (or higher) in Boss Blitz 3 times (10 AP)
  • Get Bronze Award (or higher) in Boss Blitz 5 times (5 AP)

What would this encourage people to do? Complete the event the way it was meant to be played!

Seriously, I’m surprised we didn’t have these achievements in place. One of the reasons for it as I think is casual rage which arises each time when so-called “casuals” are challenged with so-called “harcore” content, like Liadri, Marionette and 10 Minutes to Knightfall which are not that hard but still not all people can beat. Well, to those people I can say two simple things:

  • We have Megaservers now and overflows/low-pop servers are not an excuse.
  • You have 95% of “casual” stuff anyone can do; if you can’t and don’t want to try the other 5% – just leave it, you won’t die without 15 extra AP.

TL;DR: ANet, please encourage people to play the way you intended via proper achievement management which matches event goals.

Feedback/Questions: The Wardrobe System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

Since it costs transmutation charges to use a new set of looks from your wardrobe its essentially a rental system and not a wardrobe.
I dont know about you, but if I use a real life wardrobe I can change as much as I like without paying for each change.

It’s not a rental, it’s a tailoring shop. You can have as much different sets of armour as your bags can take, but should you decide to re-sew one of those into something different, you’ll have to pay for the service to the master tailor.

Before:

  • Buy T3 Cultural – 180g.
  • Reskin with Flamekissed – 800 gems.
  • Need splitter to get each back.
  • Need another 180g for one extra T3 Cultural.
  • Need another 800 gems for one extra Flamekissed.

After:

  • Buy T3 Cultural – 180g.
  • Reskin with Flamekissed – 800 gems.
  • Just use 6x crystals (216 gems or 18g) for each extra T3 Cultural to put onto another armour.
  • Just use 6x crystals (216 gems or 18g) for each extra Flamekissed to put onto another armour.

I like the official attitude towards this phenomenon. It’s nice to see that they’re treating it as a real world speculation mechanics rather than giving out tempbans for a totally predictable “exploit”.

It was really amazing to see how fast the market got moving after the announcement and how a lot of people rushed to come up with a strategy to profit from it. [Suggestion] Should lying dead be more punishing?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

Automatic waypointing with fee removal sounds good to me, even though I’m sure someone will find an exploity use for it and there’s a miniscule problem of players with 0 money. This should be disabled in dungeons though, IMO.

A “you are recovering” debuff similar to one after the Revive Orb looks like a good measure to me as well. The debuff gets longer depending on the time you’re dead.

Another idea is gradually decreasing visibility till everything you see is a pitch black image. This a] should not be done through post-processing as it can be worked around by disabling it (similar to hallucinations, Liadri blind etc.), and b] will solve the problem of corpse spying.

As for giving credit, I think that lying dead should count as being absent, if it isn’t already.

Applying Magic Find To Containers

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

To discourage unintended farming, more and more events now have awards which are given on completion and put into containers. Unfortunately, that even further discourages investing into Magic Find, as well as punishes loyal players who have been in the game for a long time.

I see several possible solutions to this problem:

1. Make all containers which are already account bound affected by MF. AFAIK, only PvP containers are currently affected by generic MF (Silverwastes chests are affected by stacks of Preservance).

  • Pro:
    • People are rewarded for investing time/gold in MF regardless of what type of content they play.
    • Minimal changes to code.
  • Con:
    • This is a semi-measure which doesn’t solve the whole problem.

2. Make all containers affected by MF.

  • Pro:
    • People are rewarded for investing time/gold in MF regardless of what type of content they play.
    • Can potentially decrease inflation by increasing TP gold sink.
    • Minimal changes to code.
  • Con:
    • I assume that the main reason containers are not affected by MF is the market speculation it may cause: people with high MF buying out containers, opening and selling too much stuff; frustration caused by this from people who feel they should pass containers to others to open those, or lose money by opening themselves; guilds devoted to this, potential fraud and so on.
    • Can potentially destabilize economy due to speculation.
    • Containers may be harder to balance game-wide, to the extent of nerfing them to the ground for non-speculators to offset the influx from speculation.

3. Make all containers account bound, but affected by MF.

  • Pro:
    • People are rewarded for investing time/gold in MF regardless of what type of content they play.
    • Minimal changes to code.
  • Con:
    • Can increase inflation by decreasing TP gold sink.
    • Taking markets away from players can cause an uproar.
    • Dealing with containers already on TP will be a problem.

4. Make all containers have “personalized” status (which activates MF) until they are put onto TP. The lucky clover MF icon overlay can even be used to indicate that MF will be applied.

  • Pro:
    • People are rewarded for investing time/gold in MF regardless of what type of content they play.
    • People are rewarded for playing the game itself, not the market.
    • The current container market is not destroyed, containers can still be traded.
    • No potential to exploit the MF mechanic and/or fraud players.
    • Nothing has to be done to the items on the TP.
  • Con:
    • Requires extra initial coding.
    • Resource consuming: every type of container will require an extra flag in the database.
    • Containers of different types will not stack.

I personally believe that MF should finally be applied to containers, especially with the design of new content in mind, and that the last option is optimal. Thoughts?

As far as things to cut, I would question the need for space for stuff you buy from Miyani (eldritch scroll, philosopher stones, etc). Given that those items are only used in the mystic forge, having them purchasable right next to the forge makes them easy enough to get to as is.

Please don’t listen to this guy. The portable Forge is an easily affordable item and we have shared inventory slots already. Having to go to Miyani for these minor items has always been a major annoyance for me, and hoarding all of them in the bank, even maxed out, is not enjoyable.

Please try to keep it civil, as I would be happy to see some solid numbers on the poll before this thread derails and gets personal, which unfortunately happens in threads on the subject.

Thank you.

How Can ANet Improve Average Player Skills

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

A) Dodge should both visually and mechanically vary between professions and builds.

  • Guardian: Selfless Daring (Heals nearby allies)
  • Warrior: Reckless Dodge (Damage foes)
  • Engineer: Evasive Powder Keg (Creates a bomb)
  • Ranger: Companion’s Defense (Give protection)
  • Ranger: Evasive Purity (Remove blind and poison)
  • Thief: Expeditious Dodger (Gain swiftness)
  • Thief: Feline Grace (Gain endurance)
  • Thief: Fleet of Foot (Remove cripple and weakness)
  • Thief: Power of Inertia (Gain might)
  • Thief: Uncatchable (Leave caltrops behind)
  • Elementalist: Evasive Arcana (Create an attunement-based spell)
  • Elementalist: Stop, Drop, and Roll (Remove burning and chilled)
  • Mesmer: Deceptive Evasion (Create a clone)
  • Necromancer: Mark of Evasion (Leave a Mark of Blood)
  • The Thief has a special animation for dodging, unlike all the other professions.
  • Thief and Mesmer have unique sound effects when dodging

I think that this list is quite nice. Mesmers’ Deceptive Evasion is a widely used trait, I see engineer bombs and ele fields a lot. Enjoyable enough if you ask me.

As to the “negate vs. evade” debate, this is a separate topic. I pretty much like it the way it is – it allows me to use my skills to solo champs instead of healing stats. However I am open to future bosses which will have 50% of damage undodgeable or something.

I feel that the main reason why many people ignore dodging is the fact that they use double-button mouse to walk while playing on their notebooks on a sofa, and naturally a dodge becomes something inconvenient in this “setup”.

This is even more frustrating than the “in combat” bug, and sometimes even game-breaking. I’ve had it repeatedly happening to me in Dry Top yesterday because of the aspect transforms; I had to receive damage and get transformed again or some combination of it to get the arrows back when out of combat.

Daily Worthless Actions & Daily Achievements

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

What is this thread about exactly?

Nothing in your daily routine is the same as mine, does that mean the game should cater purely to you?

The point of this thread is to demonstrate how utterly ridiculous it is that the stuff that most players consider “grindy”, “challenging”, “unaccessible” gets no reward, while the most boring and pointless tasks are being rewarded.

The dailies are meant to be accessible, no?

If you were a brand new player how sucky would it be if your dailies were:

-Craft a piece of ascended armour
-Complete a run of Fractals L50
-Remove 10 stacks of Tequatl’s Hardened Scales
-Kryta Forager

Completely unreasonable. If you want to do the higher level stuff, just do it because you enjoy it and accept that you might need to spend 3 mins doing dailies you wouldn’t ordinarily want to do if you want to maintain the daily +10AP.

I’m not a new player, but I’m fairly casual now, sitting pretty with my 24,500AP and I sure as hell wouldn’t want a daily to do the things on your “worthless” lists.

I’m also pretty sure that if they completely tailored dailies to players then you’d be just as quick to start another thread stating that you don’t want to craft a piece of ascended armour, or complete a set of guild missions, just for “the daily”.

In a world that makes sense, if a mother promises a candy to a child who washes the dishes, but the child washes the dishes, does the laundry and cleans the whole house so that it shines, the child still gets the candy. In ANet’s world, he doesn’t.

I suggested something like that long ago:

  • Daily Nice View
    • View a vista in {map},
    • complete a jumping puzzle in {region},
    • or kill 50 monsters across the world.
  • Daily Resource Manager
    • Gather 4 {resource type} in {map},
    • gather 15 resources across the world,
    • or salvage 50 items.
  • Daily Heroic Deeds
    • Complete 4 events in {map},
    • complete 10 events across the world,
    • or complete a dungeon in explorable mode.
  • Daily Proficient Fighter
    • Apply 20 conditions to enemies,
    • cleanse 20 conditions from yourself,
    • or dodge 20 attacks.
  • Daily Mad Quaggan’s Pick
    • Kill a specific world boss / complete a specific tier of Fractals.

At the moment I think that something like that could please everyone: those who need a daily goal and play just a bit, those who play a lot but prefer specific content, those who hunt for APs, and those who level their 1st characters.

It can also go like this:

  • Do 4 events in [Map],
  • do 2 world bosses,
  • do a world megaboss,
  • or do a dungeon/fractal.

The Backpiece

in Living World

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

  • The backpiece can be upgraded to ascended already, so your argument “what really annoys me is that it’s still exotic” isn’t valid.
  • You have been officially warned that the backpiece will be upgraded in future releases. You can keep the current backpiece if you like, though.
  • Having or not having the vine makes zero impact on how fast mobs die, so your argument “I’m getting the feeling you can do less and less as a casual player” isn’t really valid.
  • Looks are the endgame here, and a thematic non-sellable expensive backpack doubly so. You are not entitled to get everything unless you’re investing effort or money. You can as a casual player, though, buy gems, convert them to gold, buy most mats and grind for about 5 days (Fractals time-gating) to get everything if you don’t want to invest your time as the so-called elitists or no-lifers. The developers will thank you and have more money to make something new next time.
  • Ascended weapons are less than 5% stat increase and make less difference than using proper food. This is a long-term goal for dedicated players, something to do for those who already got hundreds of gold by casually playing the smart way every evening for a long time. Getting these, again, is either a reward for investing time, or for investing money to convert to gold to buy mats, but you’re totally fine with exotics for any content.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lishtenbird.2814

I’m just going to sum up the ridiculous opposition here:

1. We don’t care that we’re getting rewarded more. That’s not the point.
2. We don’t care that it takes less time to get those greater rewards. That’s not the point.
3. We don’t care long-time marginalized groups benefit greatly from the changes (AP Hunters, PvPers, to a slightly lesser extent, WvWers). That’s not the point.

So what’s the point?

1. We want to never be pushed outside our comfort zones. That’s the point.

2. We want to expend absolutely no additional effort in order to attain any daily achievements. They should come as a natural byproduct of what we happened to be doing anyway. That’s the point.

Quoted for truth.

Prize for the worst one so far: complete a level 11-20 fractals. The sheer terrible thought process that decided that should get anywhere near a list shows how out of touch whoever thought of it is.

Running 49-50 every day and 31 if I have time. Screw me for doing more challenging content, no Tomes and Relics for beating harder stuff than required!

To all those self-entitled people, I will just leave this here.

To all those non-entitled people not reading the posts, I’ll leave this here:

And don’t even start talking about “achieving”! Beating Liadri was an achievement, collecting 4 plants in Maguuma, tagging 4 events in QD and looking for stuff to MF on multiple characters (all clean sold and salvaged, as always) is nothing more than grind.

I am sure there are others. But chances are you will not read them, it’s a fact that the forums are disproportionately peopled by complainers that are not satisfied with the game at some point or other. The impression is, " the game really sucks Look at all the complainers." or…" everyone feels as I do, because Not many people are disagreeing with me."

Chances are…MOST of the people that feel like Marche are not On the forums posting, but on the game playing.

I’ll just leave this quote here:

Players who are satisfied rarely post about how satisfied they are. Forums generally represent a vocal minority.

Actually…. that’s a myth.

The people who post on the forums are the most passionate about the game. Good companies understand how customer feedback works and pay attention. Bad companies believe the myth and wonder why their customer base is shrinking.

Twice-Told Legend ... really?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

How is this an illogical decision? The title is meant to be a compensation for those who made the same legendary twice before the wardrobe update.

This.

You crafted 2 of the same legendaries – you get a title, 25 AP and a single legendary skin.

You crafted 2 different legendaries – you get two different legendary skins and are twice as cool to all the players as the guy next to you who made, say, dual legendary daggers.

If you ask me, then even 25 AP and a title is not worth losing 2000g. Even such a compensation is not enough, to say the truth, but it’s at least something done for these people and I think it was a nice move from ANet.

Piles of Silky Sand

in Living World

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

This would be an awesome idea IF they had an NPC in Prosperity talk about it. Something like,

NPC1: UGH! I hate this place! Sand gets EVERYWHERE! I’m constantly cleaning it out of my bags!"
NPC2: Yeah, me too. However I occasionally find valuable stuff so it’s not a total loss.

I’m sure that would spark a few lightbulbs in players’ heads.

Ugh…

You’re in a desert. Walking on sand, sometimes sinking into quicksand. There’s a sandstorm blowing and revealing chests buried in sand. Sand is being blown into your face and you can find a mask and spectacles to protect your face from it. Dust Twisters and Dust Mites are attacking you, blinding you by raising clouds of sand, and you pick up loot covered in sand from their sandy bodies.

Now, if only we had an NPC who would give us a hint on why we’re getting sand in our inventory…

"Play How I Want" Is Gone

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

You don’t have to like it, but if AP is important to you, then great, you’re earning it at a higher rate.

Here we go again, with the same “but now 10!” argument. I was fine with getting some 5-8 AP daily by not going out of my way, and only rarely did I have to go to unplanned places, let alone other game modes. Now I have to go and do that stuff, or I will get no AP at all. And I see that as the middle ground for the average “active player” daily system. It’s been here for several years, so it made sense, right?

And the “no cost transmutation for under 80”? Exploitable by using level 78/79 gear. You know what would be better? Exchange Karma/Laurels for Transmutation Charges . . . seriously, I’m not the only one swimming in pools of this disgusting purple stuff. Needs more love.

Change to “for level 80 characters”, problem solved.

On a side note, karma and laurels can be converted to gold, and charges can be reliably received free of charge from PvE map completion and PvP tracks.

The first one is going to annoy people of the type who have posted in this thread (and myself I will admit) because of limited play windows per day. Making larger amounts for an achievement puts stress on us to perform in the time limit if we want to do them. Making larger amounts and then sticking an “easy out” on it? Just means the majority are going to do the easy out rather than the other one. So why not just leave it as the “easy out”?

This is what I currently suggest:

One more try on improving the daily tasks, PvE only:

  • Daily Nice View
    • View a vista in {map},
    • complete a jumping puzzle in {region},
    • or kill 50 monsters across the world.
  • Daily Resource Manager
    • Gather 4 {resource type} in {map},
    • gather 15 resources across the world,
    • or salvage 50 items.
  • Daily Heroic Deeds
    • Complete 4 events in {map},
    • complete 10 events across the world,
    • or complete a dungeon in explorable mode.
  • Daily Proficient Fighter
    • Apply 20 conditions to enemies,
    • cleanse 20 conditions from yourself,
    • or dodge 20 attacks.
  • Daily Mad Quaggan’s Pick
    • Kill a specific world boss / complete a specific tier of Fractals.

At the moment I think that something like that could please everyone: those who need a daily goal and play just a bit, those who play a lot but prefer specific content, those who hunt for APs, and those who level their 1st characters.

I see it as a fair compromise between different kinds of players. Want it fast? Do the specific short task. Need guidance? Do the specific short task, or a less specific middle task. Want to play how you want? Okay, but you have to play for a considerable time.

This way, the part of people who play just a bit will still be in the zones and will still perform the specific tasks. But those who are contributing to metrics by spending hours online playing how they want are not left out of the system anymore. It’s best of both worlds. Because choice and options.

Why not add Duel.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

1) Dueling makes both players hostile (red) so that they can be attacked by monsters and other players to calm them down if in an inappropriate place.
2) Players who lose do not enter downed state, they just turn green and regenerate health, like skillpoint NPCs.
3) Option to always decline dueling in settings (with a system message in chat panel on duel declination).

And I’m in. No tweaking, no balance, just friendly dueling during waiting or in desolate places of maps.

Or as an other method, it can simply be triggered in the same way as costume brawl works – with a dueling box/banner which makes any player who touches it attackable. And it involves far less code than costume brawl, in fact.

Welcome to the well-known endgame of the veteran players of GW2: clearing group content in the most efficient way.

Even so, here is a newsflash since you didn’t even read the build. The 6/6/6 build does exactly what the 6/2/2/2/2 build does in terms of DPS, if not MORE…

Doesn’t it sound hilarious to you that a build with 4 more trait points does exactly the same or maybe even more?

Pick up change

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

I also noticed that something was terribly wrong with “Pick Up [F]” but couldn’t remember what it was.

why are these all on the same key anyway?

why can I not bind revive player, talk to npc, and pick up item to different buttons?

The interact [F] problem has been discussed a lot because re-binding auto-loot key works but is not the ultimate solution to all annoyances of that [F]unction (including it not working on chests). I have several suggestion just on it gathered in this list:

48. Option to AoE auto-loot everything automatically (AoE-loot-on-kill) instead of AoE-loot-on-constantly-spamming-interact-key-and-ressing-or-talking-to-NPCs-instead. I know it is possible to bind interact and loot onto different keys, but having 1 key for both seems more user-friendly. Still, hilarious things happen when you pick up a banner instead, press 4 and rush into certain death because you didn’t notice it wasn’t a loot [F] but a banner [F].

49. Dedicated colour for looting [F] only (blue?).

50. Option to disable talking to NPCs in combat (there’s nothing worse than having an NPC dialogue pop up over mobs and target info while trying to spot a Subjugator in the middle of a zerg).

51. Ability to display a list of [F] actions and/or cycle through them instead of clicking to select a target which fails 95% of time (just try to click and pick up a Fiery Greatsword next to a Frostbow next to warrior Banner next to a dead player next to a dead NPC next to a NPC with a popping dialogue box); and/or a “Select next object” key. Also makes it easier to choose between crafting station/trader/merchant/NPCs and similar interact-heavy environments.

52. Do not display “Use [F]” for siege when it is already used by another player.

53. Option to relocate the interact [F] pop-up.
