in every war soldiers with ranged attacks was the most valuable units. in this game rangers are nothing with or without ranged attacks. i understand the idea behind the ranger profession. we have opening strike, flanking damage, extra damage at full endurance and nearly full health, extra damage signet for one shot, big range and more damage for the more distance.
a tipical one shot setup. but this game is not support the sniper style, except if a are a warrior with rifle. we can reach the top damage if we trait on pets and micro management it. the problem is: pets can attack only single, not moving targets, and only if they are alive.
our damage against multiple or moving enemys is very low. im a wvw player and i fight against multiple moving enemys. we need an option to ignore our pet.
what i suggest is something like elementalist attuments. one for the actual beastmaster setup, one trap kit (engi have 5 cool bombs or granades for 1 utility slot) one lonely wolf mode with high dmg and one team support.
i think we need more personal and less server level reward
Nature Magic IX – Two Handed Training. Added the following functionality to this trait. Greatsword and Spear attacks have a chance to grant Fury on hit. 50% chance. 3s Fury. 10s cooldown.
Still the only real buff for ranger in this patch. and as a WvW player i still wont play again with my lvl 270+ ranger with kudzu :/
When you decide to save your pet, use your heal and 5 seconds later you die because you cant heal yourself.
Your pet cant reach the target
Your pet dies instantly, you swap and other pet dies too
I made insect killer on wvw faster as any of the wvw ones
They can write things on chat and you can ignore it. Thats all.
Stop saying ranger. A good ranger brings much more than some other classes to a zerg.
You have a water field that cleanses conditions and brings regen, fire field (torch) that does a lot of dmg and traps you can even put on walls.
I do a lot of condition damage with my trap/condition build and i mostly use the pets for effects (fear, chill, etc.). You have to think your build specifically for wvw, not use some kind of berserk crit LB build.
I’m using Axe/Torch with a switch to LB (useful for players on walls, destroying ACs, etc.) and doing fine imo. Traps with targetting/bigger range, entangle. They all do big damage when spec’d for condition damage. The thing really missing to rangers is anti-CC (stability mainly) but other than that, it’s pretty solid.Sure it’s not the best class, but when played correctly, you’ll do just fine with a ranger.
Imo the thieves are harder to play efficiently in a zerg (i also play one but mostly for roaming and stealth kills)… however, as stated in an earlier post, WvW isn’t only zerg fights. Thieves do make great scouts. They are also good at protecting camps, sentries from roamers and defending a position / updating siege, etc. Sure it won’t give as much Wxp but it’s important as well.
you wrote a lot of funny thing. ranger have a lot of stability and will get more. rao, signet give you 30 sec stability untrained and more when spent point on trait.
healing spring isnt realy good because thats a healing skill. sometimes we cant wait to use it, and if the ball move away no more heal for us.
axe isnt good because the projectile not follow the ground line. we dont have any good main hand for big fights. our offs are not bad but mains are kitten.
engi granades, necro wells and marks, ele aoes are muchmuch better as our traps.
I liked the lvl mechanism of gw1 and the low max lvl.
Btw in that game mobs was interesting.

WvW is not pve or pvp. If you want to be a good member of the team you have to accept a things:
1: Survive!
This is the most important. You need a durable build. For a new player 3300+ armor is a minimum + tons of condi remove. If you are dead you cant do dmg or support your team and you will rally the enemy downeds so this is why dieing is the worst thing what you can do with your team. If you die 2-3 times in an hour you are doing something wrong. Be more durable. Also use food and oil/stone.
2: Focus on downeds
It comes from the 1st point. Put aoe on enemys and res your mate. It will give you loot, wxp, rally your downed buddys. You will win more. Eles main job is to put everything on enemy downeds.
3: Stick on the commander
GW2 has an interesting mechanism. Attacks have a target cap. The more players stand in a small radius the less dmg they have to deal with. New players have the habit to run away. Thats a very thing, you will recieve more dmg because you are alone
4: Pick the right class, build
You have to be useful or else you just steal heal, buff from other members. Gua, necro, ele, warr, herald. They provide party heal, buff, aoe. Your dmg doesnt matter! A zerg has to focus the bangbang. If you have only 1000 dmg thats more than enough if you can focus. 40×1000 insta kills everything. Twice. Pvt armor (and some heal for guas and condi instead of power for condi dealers) is your friend. Its cheap and good. Also use energy sigil in all of your weapons. You cant survive a lot of situations wiuthout dodge. Check metabattle.com for builds but dont fear to change the expensive things for more sustain.
5: Leap!
Mobility is the key. Leaping on your commander and out of sticky situations is a key of victory. If you cant leap, teleport, whatever, you will be an easy, lonely target for the enemy.
6: dont use sieges
If you are a new player dont drop sieges and dont use them. You dont have the masterys, your dmg is low, you dont know where to place it, you will waste supply and the enemy will focus on you and kill within 2 seconds.
7: use TS
Use team speak. Join to your realms server. If you dont know what will happen you will die.
Btw i cant realy imagin a charr ash legion thief with a legendary unicorn shortbow

you can easyli duel with anybody in tpvp. buy an own arena or buy with your guild or just search an empty one and anybody from your party ccan join to you by a right click on your picture in party i dont want idiotss to spam me with pvp invites.
this idea wont solve any problem. pets cant hit moving targets, just runing up and down… and they die within 2 seconds in most situations.
i created my ranger at the start -3 day. nobody expected what will come. anet dont like ranged weapons and pet gameplay. we kittened…
i dont want pet. i play wvw, they are useless there.

I think forum specialist should be somebody with zerg, guild and roaming experience, who played on servers of diferent tiers with more than 1 profession. Maybe have eu and na experience.
the pets are part of the ranger dmg. after the new weapon tier we need new pets and this is an excelent oppurtunity to give us something more usefull as the old pets. example: invulnerable pets whats not doing dmg but buff us/party
or preparations.
