If Cleansing Conditions had priority...

in PvP

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

  • First the health circle should show ‘prospective damage’. You can’t visually see how much you are being damage with little numbers in stacks. It should appear visually in the health circle. For example, the future damage will appear colored pink/magenta like degeneration from bleeding or hexes in GW1, replacing the red. If your whole health circle goes pink, that means the conditions you have on you will take you down if you don’t remove them.
  • Then, condition removals should give priority to the condition that would have a bigger prospective damage. Not merely the one doing more DPS, not just the one that’s going to last more, the one that will color a bigger chunk of the health bar based on DPS and duration.
  • Additionally, healing from regeneration and other heal over time effects would also colorize the bar, making the ‘prospective healing’ look yellow if the total net regen/degen is positive. So if your regeneration can outheal conditions on you, you’ll see yellow chunk in your HP circle, and if regeneration can’t cope with it (which will obviously be most of the time), you’ll see the pink chunk showing how much health you are going to lose.

Pink and yellow and two decent colors that won’t be confused with red too much by colorblind, based on some colorblind palettes I’ve googled. But they are just examples, they could be other colors.

These two changes will make sure people can actually see how much damage they are taking from conditions, and help them deal better with it by prioritizing the most troublesome condition first, without RNG nonsense.

How to balance Amalgamated Gemstones?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

Jewelers can upgrade lesser gemstones into orbs, but that also goes though your stores materials in no time.

If at least the mystic forge had a panel with recipes, we could mystic forge masterwork gemstones without going insane and ending up suffering every single repetitive motion disorder.

If jumping puzzles had a series of “portal dampening fields” that disables use of portals from outside them to inside, but still allowing them within each field so portals can still be used to help friends but can’t be used to skip the JP, or if JPs had a series of checkpoints that give you an effect that is lost after opening the chest and increases rewards the more you got, jumping puzzle chests could also get improved rewards, including much higher chances of orbs and crests, since a full reward would no longer be something you can skip or leave a character by the chest and open it every day.

I also think rare crests should be usable in jewelry, so we can craft jewelery with those stats, much like the sigils and insignia that can be salvaged.

They took over Cantha. They closed the borders. They turned it into a freaking Tyrian North Korea.

My work there is not done. I must go back, and finish what I started 250 years ago, but there’s no boats that will travel there, no asura portals leading there, and for some reason I can’t find any paths leading to the depths of Tyria, and find the tunnel the dredge made all the way to Cantha. It’s as if all paths there had been erased out of existence.

Even if I have to swim there, I’ll go back, and finish my job. I’ll wipe out the Ministry of Purity, retire the imperial line, and turn Cantha into a free people’s republic.

I always say that removing an effect such a condition or boon should make the target immune to that condition or boon for a short time.

That way we can keep their spammability so it can be ready on demand more often for a more action game, but removals are not made pointless for a more tactical game.

Which ore/lumber is your limiting factor?

kitten freaking silk.

You need 100 bolts instead 50 like with the other materials to make silk weaving.
It costs 3 of the raw material instead 2 like Mithril ingots, even though they drop way less than them.
There’s no node for it even though it’s a basic material.
There’s no enemies more likely to drop them as salvageable items like how wild animals drop often salvageable leather.

Most of what enemies drop salvages into Mithril. I salvage a wooden staff? Mithril. I salvage a wooden bow? Mithril. I salvage some salvageable item dropped by level 65-80 enemies? Mithril. I salvage a freaking cloth armor? For some reason also Mithril!

I could REALLY use cloth nodes being added to the game in some form. Like cloth racks protected by enemies.

Soft wood is the next one. It has plenty of nodes, but it’s rather boring to get since there’s not many ‘forests’ with a higher density of those nodes together, and so you have to walk a lot to get it.

Demolishin the Lazy "Scrub" Argument

in PvP

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

“Scrub” around here is merely used to dismiss other people’s opinions.

“You have no idea”, “L2P”, “Scrub”.

All that sort of nonsense is aimed to dismiss and devaluate other player’s valid feedback.

Many responses to the very reasonable and more than accurate concerns about the current broken situation with builds capable of single-handedly taking out a full defensive character without sacrificing survivability are quickly responded by these people with all sorts of obvious lies. Obvious to anyone but themselves.

But they are not trying to lie or anything like that. They have truly deluded themselves into thinking the situation is sustainable when it is not. That players leaving PvP after 15 matches because they can’t understand how can a single character meant to be fit a role is doing things it should not, and being both able to deliver lots of damage while taking lots without even evading it or using Protection. And some will even be puzzled when the inevitable fixes to some of the broken things arrive. Fixes that are hardly ever enough, as this is not an Arcade fighting game. This is an online MMO, and it’s subject to latency issues. And so the game can’t be designed without that in consideration.

And so, the problem is a positive feedback loop. The ones benefiting from the progressively worsening situation keep dismissing new player’s feedback no matter how reasonable it is, disheartened and frustrated, they have no other option other than give up on PvP, which leaves the wrong people still around, as PvP festers into an environment hostile to new players.

AP, like PvP rank and WXP is not a measure of skill, but “veterancy”, seniority.

That is, higher AP, PvP rank or WXP means you’ve been playing longer, but not necessarily that you’ve been playing better.

Someone who has been playing longer is more likely to have developed skills, but correlation does not imply causation, so you may get low AP players with high skill and high AP players with low skill.

Ascended gear: The next step

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

Having ascended items becoming account-wide is definitely something good. Wonderful.

But they could be EVEN better.

How? Make their stats account bound for the same item type.

You make a Zojja sword with one character, then a Chorben sword with another, and when you equip them, you get a message like the one you get when your account luck increases:

*ding! * “Zojja stats unlocked for ascended swords”;
*ding! * “Chorben stats unlocked for ascended swords”.

The stats have become unlocked for the account!

Now, any character of the account with an ascended sword will be able to set the stats of the sword to either Zojja or Chorben. Right click the sword, and you get a list like with legendaries, but unlike legendaries, only the unlocked stat combinations are there.

This would not take much from legendaries, as they have all stats from the get-go and the unique skin, and also give people something more to progress.

As people make more ascended and unlocks more stats, they would end up with some extra weapons in their hands, as there’s only so many swords one character can ever use. So why not buying another character slot and let them keep the other sword? * nudge * * nudge * * wink * wink *

This would also go greatly with the unlimited trait resets, letting people try even more builds even more freely as they progress unlocking stats.

The reason people go full berserker is mainly two reasons:

  • It’s possible to get berserker stats for every single piece of gear.

It’s a fundamental problem at the core.

There’s no variety on enemy parties, and stacking with berserker gear works against mostly everything .

No more one time events

in The Lost Shores

MithranArkanere.8957

I’m going to places, I’m trying to do things, and I’m not doing anything.

I can’t enjoy the stuff because it’s not something you can retry after the fix the bugs. It’s a one time thing.

If a one time things comes bugged, and won’t work, and you can’t do anything, and lag makes things worse, you are under pressure and frustrated.
You’ll be missing something you can’t do again, like you can with all the many other bugged things.
For them you can wait for a fix. I’m patient. I don’t mind waiting. But you can’t wait for a one-time thing.

I simply can’t understand why do they do this.
Making a one time thing instead an instanced thing that you can make once per account or characters, is bad. Many people will miss it. It’s a lot of wasted resources.

Making many people come at the same time is bad, because it’ll cause lag.
And setting the trials on top of that only make things worse.
And every single time try tried that, this happens.
Lag is not something the can fix in their side, and it’s not something players an fix on their side. There’s many factors they can’t affect, like horribly bad ISPs, bad infrastructures and the like.

So why do they keep doing that?
What are we supposed to expect for the next festival?
More of this again?

I should be in-game, playing, not here, trying to read some good news that don’t seem to come.

What you should do is adding some kind of historial records NPC that allows players to revive these events inside instances.
That way people will be able to see the content anyways.

You made the game for all of us, not for those testing it in the offices and the lucky ones that do not get bugs and/or lag.

Centaur-like creatures as professions and mounts

in Suggestions

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

Centaurs are a sentient race.
They are rather tribal, but sentient.
For a centaur in most fantasy settings, having someone riding them or using them as beast of burden is humiliating.
VERY HUMILIATING.
And centaurs in Guild Wars are a very, very proud and dignified race, which makes them more indignant about humiliating things.

Put those things together, and… how could I put it…

Imagine the most humiliating thing you can do to a human being.
Well, for a centaur, having someone riding them is about a bazillion and a half times more humiliating than that.
As a reference, that’s a bazillion times more humiliating than forcing a charr to play with a ball of yarn, and half a bazillion times more humilliating that failing at basic arithmetics as an asura.

Even if you found friendly descendants of the Veldrunner tribe and became allies with them, there’s no slim chance in the underworld they’ll let you ride them no matter who you are, or what you do.
Not even if they had something like a life-long debt of gratitude and honor to you, or you were their sworn blood brothers after some ritual or something like that; not even if you were dying and carrying you was the only way to save you.
They’ll probably use something like an improvised stretcher, or carry you in their arms or shoulders instead letting you ride them.
The only possible way the would carry you in their backs would be unconscious and sideways, like saddlebags or a bundle.
They would rather die. Or kill you. Or both.

And even if that wasn’t the case, try to imagine a charr riding a centaur.
Now try to do that without laughing.
See the problem? You can’t. It’s so ridiculous that it simply can’t be done…

unless you are the Mongols .
You know… because they like horses and are the exception to almost everything…

…nevermind…

Anyways… No riding centaurs!

Hyenas

MithranArkanere.8957

Right now, the 3 new pet types I could use the most are.

Rodents

  • Common skills:
    • Dent armor: Single target unblockable 10s 10 stack vulnerability.
    • Tail Trip: Deals some damage and cripples. Knocks down foes already crippled.
    • Spread Diseases: Deals poison to single target, deals poison in an area if target already has poison.
  • Variants:
    • Giant Sabannah Rat (aka [Jahai Rat](http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Jahai_Rat)): Found in Elonian territories.
      • Skill: Toxic Saliva – Deals a really long poison.
    • Giant Albino rat: Found in the Depths of Tyria and some dungeons. Looks like the Jahai Rat, but with white fur and with red eyes.
      • Skill: Dark senses – Causes AoE reveal in a small area around itself (150 radius). Rather long recharge.
    • Ratatusk: A squirrell-like creature with a horn and fangs inspired by the Ratatoskr. Found far west in Magus Falls and beyond.
      • Skill: Glide – Teleports to target regardless of obstacles and deals 4s crippled.
    • Afanc: Beaver-like rodent with crocodile-like fangs and scales.
      • Skill: Jaw Snap – Channeled single target melee attack. Lasts 5 seconds and pulses once per second, dealing some damage and 1s immobilize. If any of the hits fails or misses, the channel is canceled. Can’t move while channeling.
    • Col-gol: Rat-like creature with pangolin-like bone scales coring it, inspired by some depictions of the Colo-Colo. Found northwest around Janthir.
      • Skill: Curl Up – Rolls into a ball like an armadillo or pangolin and becomes invulnerable for 5 seconds.
    • Capibara: We all know these lovable fellows.
      • Skill : Soothing presence – Passive heals 1% of maximum health to ranger and 4 nearby allies every 3 seconds. Active: Gives long regeneration.

Drakebats

  • Common skills
    • Bite – Deals damage.
    • Screech – Deals 1s daze.
    • Shriek – Deals 1s fear if flanking the target. Deals 1s revealed otherwise. Long recharge.
  • Variants:
    • Cave Bat. Skill: Echolocation – Deals 3s revealed in an area 150 units around itself.
    • Cliff Bat: Skill: Whoosh. Hits 3 times while evading.
    • Frost Bat: Frostbite. Makes the bat and ranger’s next 3 attacks deal 2s chilled..
    • Vampire Bat: Deals damage and heals self.

Dolphin

  • Snout jab. Deals damage.
  • Flipper slap. Deals daze.
  • Rush. Evades, gets protection and deals vulnerability.
  • Ranger skill: Echolocation – Deals 3s revealed in an area 150 units around itself.

Other existing animals that can’t be used as pets should be introduced too, like the Scaled Drake, the Whooly Siamoth, Lions, Tigers, the Golden Moa and the Green Moa, thundershrimps, sea turtles, crabs, etc…

(There would still be exceptions, though, mostly animals of big sizes like whales and ruminant quadrupeds like dolyaks, deers, bulls, llamas, marmoxes and sheep. Magical creatures like basilisks, wind riders and skale and ‘beasts’ like minotaurs and griffons would have to be exceptions too. Same as things that are too close to humans like, such as apes like gorillas. )

Wait… do you guys mean murellows?

If so I’ve been laughing/wondering about those things since I was a total noob. They’re hideous. So bad to the point where I had to stop and think “who the hell sits down and decides to draw a creature that looks like this…?”

Murellows are supposed to be some sort of bald bear.

Minis: Bug, not Feature

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

MithranArkanere.8957

There’s several bugs involving the mini wardrobe:
- They will often become permanently disabled or unselected after the system has hid them, requiring you to manually pick the mini again or check it for show. Which is actually way more annoying that when you could just use hem in your inventory.
- The system is not consistent on detecting how many other players are in the map, hiding them on maps that have a dwindling population.

This should be changed to make minis client-side for the player. So whenever they are hidden by the server, you and your party can still see your own minis, their movement faked by the client instead managed by the server.

Double engineer daily again...

in PvP

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

Unlike PvE achievements in which you want people to go to the same place and do the same thing so there’s more people there, in PvP you want people to diversify.

And so, you can’t go and tell them “Well, now you all go engineer”.
You simply cannot have the same daily profession achievements for everyone in PvP. It’ll result in these horrible kind of boring situations with too many of the same profession and longer queues for those professions.

The two fixed profession dailies that are the same for all should be changed into two different achievements based on the account’s data:

  • One picked randomly between the 5 most played professions, so everyone can do it even if they only have 5 character slots.
  • One picked randomly between the 4 least played professions (5 if the account has HoTs and the revenant), to encourage people to try stuff they don’t use often.

Once achievement generation ha a framework to use game metrics instead being fixed, preset and the same for everyone, it could be used for other stuff, like reintroducing dungeon dailies rewarding visiting the paths less visited by most players.

Reward people for not getting out of their comfort zone once in a while.

Silverwaste Drop Issue: Bug? Nerf?

MithranArkanere.8957

Hey. Is there any chance you were testing changes to the map to use the cool participation+ Hero’s choice reward method using in Hot maps, moving part of the rewards to the system, and some of the changes slipped to live?

Because that would be great news, bugs and all, if that means we’ll eventually have the Hero’s Choice system in other maps.

Imagine participating in enough events in Ogre Wars, and instead getting just the same boring couple of rares as always, getting a Hero’s Choice chest that lets you choose between the usual two rares, a stack of 15…50 T3 leather, a rare material like a silver doubloon, a core or a crest; or an stacking trophy that you can exchange for an account-bound exotic Sam after you’ve gathered enough of them. All good choices, you can’t get everything so no excess rewards are produced, but you can aim for what you want.

That’s the beauty of the Hero’s Choice chests. One of the best things you’ve come up with over the years. Second only to limited stock vendors.

The Floor Is Lava adventure insanity

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

This adventure was clearly tested only on site. Never with a range of pings. It was also likely tested only by one person, if anyone at all. Instead being tested with many people at the same time.

This shows a lot, making it literally impossible for some players.

  • Too often there’s a collision above your character stopping jump. This is a widespread bug in which trying to jump against the steps of a stair will stop your character from jumping up the stair as if you were under the step instead against it. This is easily fixed by turning those collisions into a series of small slopes instead, and avoiding right angles in the collisions of the steps altogether when designing maps.
  • Too often you just don’t jump when using the clusters, even if there’s nothing anywhere near your characters. Nothing at all. The cluster gets used and the character stands still.
  • Because of different latencies, not everyone glides the same distances, jumps the same heights and starts gliding at the same time. Yet the minigame is clearly designed considering shortcuts that not everyone can use. Because of this, certain shortcuts are just impossible for some players, as even if they keep Space pressed, the glider won’t open until it’s too late, and they will crash against the wall.
  • Tested all races. And altough the kick animation lasts the same across all races, it doesn’t last the same for all players. Some can resume movement faster than others who are stuck longer in the kick.
  • If a player is defeated right next to anything other players need to use. The system will give priority to reviving. So other players around can on purpose troll your attempts by getting themselves killed on key spots. If they do so on the floor, other players will have a hard time reviving them, because they will get the effect too and suffer damage.
  • There’s a mushroom near the entrance that is often lured into the adventure to put players in combat and slow them down.
  • When resetting, the Corrosive Spores effect is not removed, forcing players to wait there before starting, adding to the frustration.

My recommendations:

  • Increase time even more. At least 2:20, preferably 2:30.
  • Force teleport of anyone defeated to the area behind the rocks near the start, with no delays, right as they are defeated. That or disable revive within the adventure area if possible.
  • Adjust collisions so they match visuals better. Someone mashing space up a set of stairs should go up, not jump in place when there’s nothing over them.
  • Remove the kick animation on the fruits.
  • Do not cause the Spores effect to players not participating, and remove it at the end and start of the adventure.
  • Make the fruits and clusters trigger without having to press F, just running through them.
  • Remove the hostile mushroom near the entrance, or make it neutral, or add some rocks so it can’t chase players into the adventure.

This just happened to my team too.

No matter how fast we ran sparks or how fast we damaged her, she hid every time at 50% HP, regardless of how much time passed since she reappeared or hid, how long it took to gather the sparks, and how much HP she had when the she hid or reappeared.
After more than 4 hours trying, it’s clear to me that this can’t be normal behavior.

Just to make sure, we intentionally make it slower, with less players damaging her. After 3 minutes, she hid upon reaching 50%HP.

Instead hiding after losing X HP or after Y time, she hides when she reaches 50% HP.
Every time.

Also, if you gather 4 sparks and let her recover to full HP, she’ll appear, but the next time you only need 1 spark. This is probably what those able to do it are exploiting to get it done, as this one time after getting just one spark is possible to get her under 50%.
Any further attempts wile gathering 5 sparks make her disappear always at 50%.

This boss encounter is both clearly bugged and poorly designed and must be redone.

[Suggestion] Bigger preview window.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

MithranArkanere.8957

I would get rid of the preview window altogether. Even the one in the gemstore.

When choosing to preview something, it’ll be added instead to a new “Preview” section in the Hero panel before the account unlocks. Much like how skins and minis appear already in a section when you have them in your inventory.

You’ll be able to keep the items there there until you log out, even if you switch characters.

Additionally, extra buttons would be added to the visuals tabs of panel to preview the following things:

- Animation: Combat animation, idle aniamtion, walking/running/swimming, emotes (pops a dropdown list with emotes to perform), attacking (performs several autoattacks and then cycles skills in your current build).
- Terrain: Underwater. Ground. Gliding.
- Lighting: Night/Day, with a lightning slider.
- Hide armor toggle.

Then also add zooming, panning and rotation to the panel, to better see details.

  • To zoom, posion the pointer over the character in the preview and use the same zoom as with the usual camera (wheel mouse by default)
  • To rotate, hold right mouse button. Move up/down to rotate vertical axis and left-right for the horizontal axis.
  • To pan, hold left mouse and move the mouse up to pan vertically and left/right to pan horizontally.

That way, we’ll be able to preview items along our stuff, even our dyes, and switch between characters previewing a selection of items added to the preview, and see the stuff we preview along several animations, and even watch close details.

Mini-Pet Slot

There should be a slot in the hero panel with a ‘show/hide’ checkbox.

But it should not be a slot in which you put the item.

It should be a slot to select the one you want. Kind of the like pet selection slots, or the finisher selector.

Clicking the slot should show a list with all existing series of miniatures (first year store miniatures, second year store miniatures, first series of special miniatures, second series of special miniatures, etc)

Click the series you want, and you get a panel with all the miniatures in that series similar to the pet selection panel. The ones you own are colored, and the ones you do not own are grayed.

Click the miniature you want, and it gets selected for the slot without removing it from the bank, so more than one character can use at the same time those miniatures you can get only one of, like Rytlock and the ones from achievements.

Once selected, you would be able to check/unckeck the checkbox on its corner to make the pet automatically spawn when possible.

We need more wings!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

We don’t really need more wings, but we already have many back items that do not have a glider version, but would look so good as gliders that they are practically a must:

  • The jetpack would actually look like a jetpack, firing large flashy flames off its nozzles and leaving behind 3 fiery trails as you glide. When using leaning techniques, the flames fired off the nozzles would be stronger.
  • With the spinal blade packs, only the tempered and attuned (static, dynamic, synergetic) packs would have a glider version. They’ll have much weaker trail and flames than the jetpack, but the blades would extend and project holographic wings, kind of like Falcon’s hard light wings from Marvel comics. The tempered wings would have a warm orange color.
  • The small wings such as the holographic wings, daydreamer’s, fairy’s, and tequatl should have larger versions as gliders, but the back items should remain small. The glider versions would not flap even if the back versions do flap.
  • Then you have the Toxic Spore. The glider version of this one would attach to the character’s back with some roots, and its leaves extend and start rotating like a gyro’s rotor. This animation could then be used for other gliders, like a scrapper themed one that looks like a gyro with a large rotor attached to your back.
  • Since none of the god backs would make much sense as gliders, Dwayna’s would not have a glider version, even when it features a pair of wings.

So they’ll get to keep the gold they bought?

Someone who buys gold is part of the problem.
They should never get to keep the gold.
Gold sellers don’t send you the gold, then ask for a donation. You have to go to them and request the gold, and pay.
And saying “I was just making sure it was a gold seller” or something like that is just a bad excuse.

Just report the accounts advertising it.

And don’t expect a reward. Taking out gold sellers is its own reward.

The change to Hero challenges has left the Krait Obelisk Shard hero challenge in the Home Instance unusable.

It can no longer be completed.

Using it changes the icon in the map, but it doesn’t give a hero point, and completion isn’t recorded, so it can be retried right away without having to re-enter the instance.

Multiple retries change nothing.

The problem is constant spam of everything.

Too short cooldowns, boons and conditions that last little but can be reapplied instantly.

What is the point of removing a boon from the enemy if they can just reapply instantly faster than it can be removed?

These elementalists builds aren’t about skill at all. They are about spamming as much as possible of everything. You take all their boons, count to 5, they have them all again complete with a 15-25 stack of might. Not a single window of opportunity. No downtimes.

The whole pace of the game is too fast for this kind of game. Hell, it’s getting too fast for a Quake game.

Even if it’s after 5 or 10, or 50 years, everything must eventually come back after people had time to show it off and there’s other stuff to get, so newer players get to enjoy it too.

I just want to know one thing. Will a transmutation charge “unlock” the skin already in our locker for unlimited use.

That changes everything. If it does work that way OMG amazing. If not I see this as an unnecessary barrier for skins that should have UNLIMITED use. After all we payed the charge. Why make us pay again.

That would be more than acceptable.

Even if you unlocked the skin after using charges for it 5-10 times it would be acceptable.

Even have to continuously pay for legendaries, as they are not meant to be around that much.

But if you have to pay every single time you want to apply every single skin, and if prestige and achievement, gemstore, AP and HoM skins are not free to apply (you already earned the right to continuously apply them for no extra charge), then the system will be bad, and everyone should feel bad.

Dyes for weapons?

Weapons and back items should be dyeable.

It’ll be an increase in data stored in the items, and sent to players, but what we are losing is too much in comparison.

Take back items and weapons matching the same theme, like the Daydreamer’s.

You can dye the outfit. But what’s the point? You can’t dye the wings or the weapons. So if you dye the outfit, it’ll no longer match them. Why would you try and get the weapons and backs if you can’t make them match your dyed outfit?

If you or someone else pushes the enemy down, it will not count towards the achievement.

Not in one instance it counted if someone else pushed the enemy, even if I did most of the damage.

You do realize he’s earned more than enough with their trading post shenanigans, don’t you?

Every time you have to pay again if you want the same skin applied twice.
Every time you have to pay again if you want to have the same gathering tool, town clothes, toys or any other account-wide item in more than one character without endlessly juggling the stuff in the bank.
Every time you have to pay again to to go back to a hairstyle you got before with a makeover or hairstyle kit.
Every time you have to pay again if a character that had all bag slots unlocked gets deleted (the reason for deletion is irrelevant), because the extra slots are saved to the character and not the character slot or the account, so they are lost when the character is deleted instead being recovered on character deletion or stored in the slot itself…

The guy has a 4D printer and makes the stuff for almost nothing out of nail clippings and glittering dust that is paid with less than 0.0001% of the profit from taxes in the trading post, then tells you it’s made by artisans or some nonsense like that.

He may say whatever he wants, but I know the smell of infinitely generated items.

Whatever he gives back, it won’t be close to an infinitesimal fraction of what he’s have been scamming you like fools.

He’s sitting in a pile of money, and looking forward to plants to make even more money, he’s just investing it in turning you against the council, and specially Kiel. And you are falling for it.

This is whatI keep telling people.

Hats must come back!

Think of all the cmbinations we are missing for not having a separate slot for hats like in GW1.

Can’t quickly put on different head pieces like glasses, monocle, an eye patch or a mask without transmuting it every time.

Can’t use the horns, phantom’s hood, wizard hats or grenth’s hood with Halloween outfits, or combine them around.

Can’t use top hats or monocles with the count and wintersday outfit.

Can’t… well… the list is just too long… the possibilities would be endless if all the ‘cross-class’ head pieces, previously town clothes pieces and outfit head pieces were also available for a hat slot.

Another lesbian relationship?

in Lore

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

We know that for silvary gender is kind of irrelevant. They like who they like, and that’s it.

For humans it’s just part of what they are as a species. Some will like males, some will like females, some will not care much about it, some won’t have interest in love or sex at all. They are a very variable race.

For asura it seems rather plausible. They are the ones that came up with anatomical engineering, after all. For them gender probably doesn’t matter much, and they don’t even have gender a lot of gender dymorphism. If a male wants to have kids with another male, one of them can just get engineered to be female for a while, or even permanently if they get comfortable with it. They’ll just stick together if that benefits both, and split when their partner no longer shares interests with them.

I doubt charr would have much of that, since their race doesn’t shine much when it comes to romantic love. They have less couples and rely more in fahrars and warbands as a social structure. For them camaraderie is above love. That’s why Rytlock couln’t forgive Logan. It was hard for him to understand that.

Norn are probably another race with not much of that. They are more individualistic and less romantic. They tend to “nest” in homestead to have kids, then some stay to take care of them and some go about their business. They don’t need to cuddle and nestle to keep warm as much as other races, they could sleep outside in the snow and be fine. Courting for them is more about finding someone strong to make strong norn babies romantic relationships.

But for tengu it would be rather believeable. They are more similar to humans in personality as a race than charr or norn. They value families and partners a lot. It would not be strange at all for a couple of male tengu to take care of a female tengu’s kids after she’s killed by destroyers or something like that.

Put a straight relationship in a game and nobody bats an eye.

Put a lesbian relationship in a game and everybody loses their minds!

More like “with lesbian relationships they squee, with a gay one they screech”.

I haven’t seen many of male homosexual relationships in games.

In GW2 there’s a silvary male couple in the living story, but for the other races, there’s only hints between females for asura and humans. But not males.

In other games you don’t see much of that. When male homosexuals appear in video games, they are usually single characters, and often either evil or untrustworthy, or comic relief.

Norns are just big humans hooked on “Spirit of the Wild” juice, anyways.

Just look at the Ossas, the Mad King, or Shiro, or Palawa Joko. Or every single Guild Lord in GW1.

Those were all humans once, and all freaking tall. Some taller than tall norn.

Turai Ossa could even stomp like giants. I don’t mean mimicking the move. The guy could actually do a Giant Stomp. And not like a warrior stomp, jumping with the whole body. A one-foot giant stomp, just like GW1’s giants and GW2’s fake giant cyclops posers that have just one eye, and no tusks or horns like real giants do. They better add real 2-eyed tusked minotaur-herding giants if they ever add the Crystal Desert map…

Inventory to Bank auto stack

That’s one of the things I had added in this suggestion here:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/SUGGESTION-Hand-health-features

Bank management is really annoying:

  • You have to double click items to put them there when a single click would do.
  • If you close a bank tab, items are still added there instead to the next open tab.
  • If there’s already a copy of an stackable item you are adding, it won’t be stacked on top of the same item, but put in the first empty slot.

It requires too much strain in your hands. Too much clicking.

It has to be improved for hand’s sake.

How to Dance, Volume 1

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

Hey guys,

A bit of background on why a book and not just new slash commands.

Basically Eivene guessed most of it.
1) visual controls are just better than selling a bunch of slash commands with no tangible way to learn them and being limited by typing speed and accuracy.

2) We added the invite functionality.

3) It’s extendable … If it’s popular and we add more dances, more books don’t require a lot of command memorization.

Hopefully that clears some things up.

Then just add an emote panel that is basically like an inventory panel with emotes filling ‘item’ slots. Double click an icon, emote starts.

1. An emote panel is visual, no need to remember commands. And you have them all in one place, you don’t have to remember which book had which emotes. And it’s compatible with slash commands, so you can have both.

2. With an emote panel you can add whatever you want. Not just “invite to dance” just about anything. Even commands that are not emotes like /FLG.

3. And it’s way more extendable as you are not limited to skill slots and people don’t have to store several books the more you add. You just add more icons to the grid.

Items take space, only one character can have them at the same time, and you don’t have an NPC to recreate paid items if lost, or collections with infinite slots like with upgrades in the PvP locker (put item once, take it unlimited times).

Do you expect people to get a book per character or to keep trading them between characters all the time, and to pay again if the item is lost for whatever reason?

Please stop with selling items ‘as is’ and go back to selling an unlock that gives access to the item like in GW1.
I would have bought all clothes if they were unlocks like in GW1.

I’ve seen lots of engineers with Elixir S and Thumper turrets.
1-5 seconds of stability may not be perfect, but with a little luck you may get the 4s from the Elixir S utility and make CCs useless for a while, as warriors have absolutely no way to remove boons.

random hotjoin n00bs don’t count.

Yes, they do.

Like Depeche Mode says: Everything counts in large amounts

Not only there’s lots of solo players in tournaments, but you can’t count only the higher-end matches in which they won’t get due to their low rank. As if they were the only matches in which balance should focus.

Balance must be achieved across the board, not under some special circumstances, even for rank 1-5 noobie matches filled with players that decide to do the dailies in tournaments instead pickup arenas.
I would go as far as saying that those should be balanced with special care, as they are the entry point of players.
If they perceive matches as unfair and impossible to win, they are less likely to keep playing the mode.
And the last thing any game or game mode needs, PvP or not, is less new players.

So yes. Random solo-joiners do count.

Scarlet: What are your thoughts?

in Living World

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

She strays the living story away from GW lore, and she gets old and boring really fast.

Once or twice a year I won’t mind her and even like her. Having the entire living store cater to her is boring.

The only interesting edge about her are the steam creatures. But they don’t even tell where exactly is she getting them from. Players can only speculate it’s from an alternate world dominated by some evil version of an asura PC based on a personal story.

Right now, the best solution to this can come up with is making her bite more than she can chew.

Something like she ending up summoning demons or some other creature from the mists, than promptly kill her or posses her and take over her operation, bringing back one of the past enemies of old in the process. For example, a greatly weakened Dhuum that just barely escaped the last great battle between the remaining evil gods Dhuum and Menzies against the Six, who has been lying low awaiting the comeback of the dragons and consuming the magic Zaitan had gathered to restore himself, taking over the undead in the process, and determined to take out the six out of wherever they seem to be hiding. But getting attacked also by whatever turned Scarlet into what she is now, getting a three-way fight between the pact, Dhuum’s demons and the original force that drove Scarlet mad, fighting to take down the dragons and get all that magic they have stored in their bellies for their own purposes.

You know. Something simple like that.

Masteries and Specializations

I would make a core mastery for the movement stuff. So people can have those benefits without having to change their builds completely for that.

I’d call that mastery “Traveler”. It could have properties related to travel. For example:

Traveler Mastery:

  • Rank 1: 33% movement speed while out of combat in PvE and WvW.
    • So people don’t have to change their builds to run faster between events and the like.
  • Rank 2: 50% less fall damage. PvE only.
    • So people don’t have to change their build just for some jumping puzzle.
  • Rank 3: All city waypoints are free from anywhere in the same continent.
    • To save time going to the mists then LA then the city.
  • Rank 4: Permanent waypoint discount for the waypoints within the current map.
    • It won’t make cheater traveling to other maps, but it’ll help when the map is fully explored and you are jumping around between events of the map a lot.
  • Rank 5: Map completion unlocks one permanently free waypoint in the map (the earliest or lowest level one).
    • Map rewards can be rather lackluster. One more reason to explore all is always a good thing. Having one free waypoint on each map will help with things like guild missions.
