I have over 6500 hours over the max possible time and around 200MF.

I have never got anything drop worth more than 20 gold. More than 5g is extremely rare. Most of what I got all the time can only be sold by 50copper-2.50 silver. Rares mostly worth less than 30 silver, exotics mostly around 50-70 silver.

Purely random drops should be only an alternative to get non-cosmetic things. Never the only source.

Legendary items are not just for prestige now. They can switch attributes. So they are no longer like those exotic unique skins you can get from champion bags. They have an use, and so there should be a way to get a guaranteed access to them, without randomness and without having to rely in the trading post. It doesn’t have to be fast, it doesn’t have to be easy, but that alternate way of getting precursors must guarantee that you will get them.

With exotics, you can get them as drops, or craft them, or earn them with tokens.

The random mode is the cheapest method, but it’s also the most unreliable, to the point that you may never get any in your entire life.

There has to be also the other methods: The relatively faster “earning” by doing some missions or quests that require experience and skill, and the much slower but easier crafting that requires mostly time.

HoM skins - icon issues after transmutation

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

Oh. I forgot to mention.

This is the list of all HoM weapons that present the wrong icon once transmuted, and the icon they present instead the correct one.

  • Centurions Claw – Common fine dagger.
  • Wheelock Rifle – Common fine rifle.
  • Chimeric Prism Focus – Common fine focus.
  • Longbow – Common fine longbow icon.
  • Fellblade – Common fine one-handed sword icon (this one isn’t even a greatsword icon)

And, again, all items present the “Wrong ion on Sell and Buyback panels” bug.
All of them will show the original base item’s icon instead the current transmuted one, regardless of how and when they were transmuted, not just the HoM ones.

Make the day/night cycle actually day/night

The average player plays about 2 hours. The cycle is made with that in mind.

A cycle that matches real life would mean some people would always be stuck at day and Night Sigils would be useless for them except inside in ‘always night’ instances.

really misleading title

This.

I often seen misleading video tittles of GW2 footage.

There’s lots of gameplay videos with people chatting and aimlessly trying to do stuff calling those videos a “walkthrough” or a “guide”.
It’s not a walkthrough or a guide until it’s it’s edited to be structured, ordered, with the fluff cut out, the failed attempts are cut out of it or left only as explanations about what not to do instantly followed by a successful attempt, and easy to understand.
One my be able to use a gameplay video as a guide of sorts, but it’s still not a guide.

And a video in which you are showing how you read the preview page is not a “sneak peek”.
The website itself can be considered a sneak peek, but you reading it it’s not, because what’s in the site is already public. The title could even be “reading the sneak peek”, but “Sneak peek” alone is misleading.

Are there ever going to be utilities?

in PvP

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

I like things even. When each race has the same number of racial skills for each type (1 healing, 3 utility, 4 elite) I’ll be happy in that area.

Then there’s also signets. At least 1 healing, 4 utilities and 1 elite for professions that have signets.
Mesmers could use a bit of condition removal on a signet. Maybe something that sends one of your conditions to an illusion every 10s seconds, and when used to heal, it also sends 3 conditions from you to a random illusion, or from your illusions to the next target to which they shatter.

As for the other utilities I’d start with a new one for each line that doesn’t have 5 of that type.
I’d love to see an arcane conjured weapon. Something like a rifle or pistol. A chaos/ghostly looking rifle/pistol that have arcane blasts as shooting animation. How cool would that be?

Anyways, I guess there’s still a long time until we start seeing more new skills or weapons.

Suggestion: remove underwater combat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

It must not be removed. It must be improved. There’s a lot to do with it before it works as it should.

For example:

  • There should be more weapons. At least 5 new ones, +2 for professions that can swap and at +1 for those that can’t. There’s no need to make many new skins. Some could be simply be usual weapons that give new skills when equipped in the underwater slot. For example:
    • Dagger. Appears in 1 hand but gives 5 skills while equipped in the underwater weapon slot as a “diving knife”.
    • Pistol. Appears in 1 hand but gives 5 skills while equipped in the underwater weapon slot as a “flare gun”.
    • Focus. Appears in off-hand but gives 5 skills while equipped in the underwater weapon slot.
    • Scepter. Appears in off-hand but gives 5 skills while equipped in the underwater weapon slot.
    • Diving crossbow. Uses crossbow skins. Crossbow must be added to ground weaponry first, tho.
    • Now that we are at it, spear should also have a 1-h “javelin” ground version.
  • Every armor set should get a breathing apparatus version of their headgear, Some with a skin shared between all 3, some that simply use the ground helmet (sorrow’s armor looks perfect for underwater)
  • Several “spare” headgear pieces should also unlock their skin for the breathing apparatus, like the Gas Mask.
  • Artificers should be able to craft breathing apparatuses for all 3 armor classes. Why articifers? They only have 4 weapons and potions, and it makes sense for them to craft some magic piece of equipment capable of producing unlimited oxygen underwater.
  • Every single skill with no underwater version should get one. For example:
    • Traps should pop nets like those krait nets, but with a stealth effect, so allies can see them, but enemies can’t.
    • Ground-targeted effects should simply trigger on target or the player activating them.
    • Summons should create underwater versions of creatures that transform into the ground version when leaving water (and vice-versa). For example, a flesh golem would become shark-like underwater, while a fire elemental becomes a flowstone elemental, and a lightning one becomes a bubble-like seafoam elemental.
  • The “swim down” key should come bound by default. Right Alt is a good key for it. You can’t really fight underwater without the swim down key. The combat becomes clunky and much harder to control.

How is a norn supposed to show off their scars and tattos without skimpy armors?

I don’t ind skimpy armors. The only thing I don’t like of GW2’s armors is how often male and female ones do not match each other. For some sets, you can’t tell they are the same set even if you put them next to each other.

Look, for example, at cabalist armor. The female version looks like a frilly dress, the male version like a rugged cabalist attire.
There should be both male and female frilly and rugged versions.

If you make the male have long sleeves and a skirt completely covering the legs, you make the male the same.
If you make the female one show her back and arms and legs, you do the same for males.
If you make a variation for the female, you also make an alternate version of that for males, and give females an alternate version of the original.

For example, with the feathered armor:

  • There should be a female version of the torso with the metal pieces and a covered back, and a male version of the torso with a more feathered look with the triangle spikes like the female bra, open sleeves and uncovered back.
  • There should also be and a male version of the legs with the skirt open in the front ad shorts, showing the legs, and a female version of the legs closed at the front like the males.
  • And also there should be a male version of the headgear that is just a hair ornament, and a female version that is a hood.
And, of course, charr and asura should get them too.

In that, the Saint Row series, as silly as it is, does a better job, although taking it a bit to the extreme.
If I want to go around punching ganbangers and aliens as a male in a kittentail dress, I can. If I want to go around blowing up police cars and ambulances as a female dressed in a shirtless luchador attire, I can.

I’m not asking for that, but at least make sets look the same for both genders as much as possible, and if you do make variations, make also versions for both genders with those variations.

There’s still some armors that do look like the same set, such as the nobleman set from Caudecus Manor. It should be like that for all, not for some.

I have a suggestion since we are on the suggestion forums: check some female armors TERA, Scarlet Blade and others have
Then come back here and tell us what you think of GW2

Scarlet Blade’s case is hilarious.

I checked the site, and it seems they only have female characters. The classes page features the bust, waist and hips sizes of the characters as if it was some sort of gravure idol magazine, XD.

They seem to have taken “selling boobs” to five or six levels after “the next level”.

But those things never last for long. They get some juvenile kids and a few pervy adults for some time and then the game goes down.

One issue many people is getting comes from right-click target and activation.

Those who move the camera a lot experience this often, as moving the camera quickly will make you target and activate stuff.

I keep losing targets when I move the camera, and I do that a lot.
I keep picking my turrets when I don’t want to pick them.
The last time I did Twilight Armor, I inadvertently opened countless buds.

I simply can’t understand why they won’t add such an option, as many people are only annoyed by the right mouse activating stuff, since they never, ever activate anything with right click.

Enemy endurance bar

in PvP

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

In GW1, there was no way to see the enemy energy bar.

The only way to know they were out of energy was by using energy denial. If they had no more energy they’ll lose less than the energy damage the skill can make.

It was kind of annoying, but it let people make some nasty tricks like when a mesmer out of energy uses Ether Signet and goes “Now I don’t have energy… now I do!”.

I don’t think an extra bar should be added, cluttering more the interface, and making players look more at bars, but I won’t mind something like a change in the way characters walk or move when out of endurance. Maybe making their steps sluggish and making them hunch or do something like GW1’s /breath aniamtion when standing still…?
When players are crippled or chilled it shows very clearly even when there’s lots of visual effects or a zerg because our brains are rigged to look for maimed animals and those moving slower than the rest. It’s in the “hunter” part of hunter/gatherer.

As for skill activation, there should DEFINITELY be a way to see it.

But GW2 has very active combat and very flashy effects and way more movement, so GW1’s method would not do, because it requires having the target selected. It’s not really useful to see what the target is doing when you need to keep track of what 25 guys are doing.

I recommend using icons instead bars. An icon with a border growing around it that indicates activation or channeling, much like the border boons and conditions get to show their remaining duration.
As for instant activation, the icon would just raise faster from the character, and stay over the currently activating/channeled skill for a second or two.
As the skill animations are already performed, at least for those skills we can see there’s information being sent, so it should not increase too much bandwith.

And of course options to tweak that behavior and even disable it. Some people may want to see just the selected target, some may want to enable it even for allies.
Some may want to read tooltips on those icons, some won’t.

It’ll be better if nobody had to see icons instead just models and visuals, but let’s face it, there’s no way to clearly show what everyone is doing in a zerg.

[Suggestion] Condition suck

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

Conditions are too good in small confrontations against players, and too bad in bigger scale fights and against higher rank enemies.

That’s because they have fixed caps instead variable caps.

On top of caps on each condition, there should be a shared cap for all conditions a creature can have, and make that cap tied to the creature’s rank. And also tie each condition cap to the creature’s rank.

Then against an epic boss players would be able to stack much more conditions and higher stacks of them, but against a single player or a normal creature that isn’t even a veteran they would not be able to put a massive amount of conditions in little time and get them killed before their condition removal finishes its activation.

They should greatly decrease the difficulty.

But then, add an instanced version for it with the current difficulty, buy using the new ‘large instance’ technology used for guild halls.

It would become one of the possible weekly Guild Missions. Guilds with not enough people can band together and ask for people to join them.

In open world, you will be able to get the achievements and the current rewards. In the instanced hardcore version, the rewards would be greater, and you’ll also get currencies you can use to buy the rewards you want if they never drop for you.

That way we can both have the cake and eat it.

There’s people sitting on over 100K gold.

They want those people to use that gold.

Because of that, prices and scarcity are set considering those amounts.

Just look at freaking scribe. Right now someone with over 1k gold can easily get as many dye pigments as they want.

Someone with less than 10g will run out in seconds if they try to make more than 3 scribe recipes and buy dyes or pigments off the trading post. And they never freaking drop. You can literally gather every single plant node in the game and get less than 10 pigments of each color.

Finishing NPC's in PvE - good thing

in Tower of Nightmares

MithranArkanere.8957

Using it for all creatures would be a bad idea. For veterans and higher rank it comes in handy, to give players a little extra time to get in some damage when the creature is overwhelmed by a massive zerg, and to make people target also smaller creatures, to prevent the boss being revived by them.

But for normal creatures, and for veterans and elites within instances that appear in high numbers, it should be random. Something that doesn’t always happen. Defeat 20 monsters, only 2-3 get downed. Defeat a wave of enemies in an event, only a couple of them get downed, the rest go directly to defeated.

Something to break the monotony of merely targeting priority enemies, by forcing you to change your target to the one going to revive the elite you just downed, or to defeat the one with ranged revive skills first just in case. But not for every single one like with the Toxic sylvari.

So It’ll keep it just for the “boss” of an event that is the main target of the event, and for the rest, make it random and infrequent.

As a world event, no matter how big and organized your guild is, nothing guarantees they’ll end up together in the same overflow, and that there won’t be some idiot using the turret to attack a nearby risen instead removing scales, poison clouds and attacking Tequatl, or that people won’t simply stick around on the ground hoping the rest will finish the event for them, while still counting for the event scaling.

[&Aho/UQAA]Mystic Crystal (item #20799)
[&AhEPTgAA]Mystic Forge Stone (item #19983)

[&AgLoHAEA]Golden Fractal Relic (item #72936)

I think that’s all the items that could use material slots, either because they are materials we get in large quantities while playing, or from vendors like milling basins, or because they are rare materials we gather over long periods of time before actually using them.

Other materials that drop like the regional lumbers for decoration scribing do not drop enough and are too cheap to be something one may hoard, and they can just be sold to the trading post and bought cheaply instead.

I also discarded gifts of exploration and maguuma, since they are not something you can really ever get in large amounts even if you do a world completion every week.

As for keys and gemstore consumables, they should go in an ‘account pocket’ you can see by cliking a button in the inventory, that opens a small separate little panel with the items. They get stored there automatically, and unlike account-wide inventory slots, we don’t get to choose what goes there. Only keys and stacking gemstore consumables like resurrect orbs, boosters, merchants, etc would go there (Items like [&AowYTgAA][&Ao8QTgAA][&AmwyTgAA][&AkkcTgAA][&AjsxTgAA][&AojQBgEA][&Ai0gTgAA][&AgIVIQAA][&Agh9pwAA][&Ao2ilAAA][&AgwjTgAA][&AvYjJAAA] those that are too many to put in account-wide slots, and people end up hoarding forgetting in the bank, but could be useful once in a while). Everlasting and permanent versions would still require account-wide slots for all characters to use them.

Although these items would be automatically stored in the account pocket on acquisition, players would still be able to open the pocket and take the items from there to the inventory, to use them for something else like mystic forge recipes, and they would be visible in vendors and crafting stations. When the player doesn’t have a key, its slot would not appear there, but empty gemstore consumable slots would remain, and clicking the empty slots would open the BL trading post focused on the item to buy more.
—-

And for everlasting toys, gizmos and tonics, they should be unlocks, but not accessible from the hero panel wardrobe, just the bank. So any character can go to a bank and take an enchanted broom if they unlocked it, but if they want to have it readily available at all times for all characters, they would an account wide slot with the broom in it or bank consumables, or the permanent bank contract in the slot.

There should be damage bursts. There should be condition users. There should be CC specialists, there should be supporting roles…

But there should be viable counters for them, and limitations to everything.

meta is not the biggest problem

in PvP

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

“Meta” is just a result of the game’s ‘ruleset’ and ‘resources’.

People will naturally fall to what’s the most efficient, and what’s the most efficient will work too well if the ruleset won’t put limits to it.

You can never get perfect balance unless you give all players the same exact resources, including time. But you will never get close to balance if you only make changes to the resources, you also need to address the ruleset.

If you only alter the resources (e.g.: Skills, traits, stat combinations, sigils, runes, profession mechanics…) as long as the ruleset allows that, players will just find the next gimmick or loophole that makes a certain combination of resources work too well.

For example, you can’t fix making stun breakers being pointless against stun spam by reducing their recharge or giving each one some stability, or reducing the number of stuns, or increasing their recharges or their duration. At least not without making stun breakers too powerful when stacked, or stuns too weak individually. What you want from a stun breaker is a little break from a situation in which you are unable to do anything. So how do you fix any possible stun-lock scenarios? You make stun breaks give a very short immunity to disables. Not something removable like stability. Something that absolutely prevents any further stuns on the user for the duration of the break. Something like 1 or 2 seconds or unremovable stun immunity. 1 second can be more than enough time, but not nearly enough to beging making stuns pointless, as long as stun breaks can’t be spammed. You also give a ‘free’ stun break for someone who stays stunned for more than what is to be considered too much time. Like 5 to 8 seconds. 5 to 8 seconds is more than enough time to take out any disabled character. But being stunned that long without being defeated would be terribly boring. To resume active gameplay, too much time stunned would break on its own as if the stunned character ‘rages’ in frustration. Kind of how juggles automatically break in fighting games if they last too long.

Worried about party-wide breaks that may be exploited to keep permanent stun immunity? Make the effect only happen on the user. The rest only get a basic break with no immunity.

Most stun breaks have long recharges or requirements that can’t be met on demand which prevents abuse of stun immunity since it’s impossible to keep them permanently up, and even skills like riposting shadows that have no recharge would be ok, as for a revenant using up energy for it means not using it for other stuff. The more you use energy for defense, the less you can use it for offense, so it balances itself. I wish energy had been a core mechanic for all professions that works like revenant’s energy instead being discarded or something that was much slower, working like energy in GW1. Another resource that makes you choose between the skills you want to use, so you can’t just use them all one after another.

One thing is trivializing the content, and another is making it reasonable.

If the balance between sources of the ore and costs of items that use it as a currency are not reasonable, getting each item feels like freaking taking down a wall of Azbantium

If I spend 2 hours in VB, I can buy one thing in the shops.

If I spend 24 hours in Dragon’s Stand, I can’t buy half a thing.

That is insane.

They probably forgot to set a cap so he chest can only give stuff once a day or once per account, or properly scale Prince Thorn.

I believe some were taking him out extremely quickly by using Deep Freeze to prevent him from going away, instead having something like the Cliffside Fractal boss that breaks combat as certain points, or at least going invulnerable so he can’t be stunned before he leaves.

We’ll just have to wait for an update to continue.

Yes, they should be in the Alpine Borderlands.

But, they should not be the same as they are now

  • They must take longer to recharge.
  • They must be cheaper and more available for more guilds, even if they are smaller.
  • And there should be a way to get 1-time weaker tacticators in the location’s tacticator slots by getting them for a reasonable cost from the trick and trap vendor. The ones from the guild being an alternate cheaper way to get stronger versions, like with siege and guild siege.

Poll: Is Season 1 a disappointment?

in WvW

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

Part of the fault is in the achievements.

There’s no “Take or defend X” there’s only “take x”. So people often let enemies get the locations so they can capture them back.

There’s no “get bloodlust for your world”, only “get ruins”. So people got ruins and promptly abandoned them.

There’s no “score for you world”, so people ignored the score timer as just captured whenever.

Just “break walls or gates” not “Be among those who broke walls of gates on a location that got captured”.

Just “repair” not “repair structures that got defended”.

Just “take mercenary camps” not “take or destroy mercenary camps”.

The achievements must be designed to encourage victory. To give points to those who do things that directly help with victory. Instead, they can be perfectly done while letting your world lose.

Kiel vs Evon ~ We all know who wins.

They not voting Kiel because she’s human.

They are voting her because she’s more liked.

Evon represents the Black Lion company and all the bad things it does, like supporting the consortium, selling ‘gasha’ balls in the form of those RNG chests, not letting you recreate items no longer in the store after you bought them, selling skins and clothes as perishable items instead as unlocks…

Smart people do not like to be scammed with that kind of stuff, and Guild Wars 2 has lots of smart players, so its only natural Kiel is winning.

[…]

But your tag says, “Unlocks are always better. No exceptions.”

Exactly. One-time account bound unlocks, like the achievement point rewards, or the HoM rewards, or everything sold in the GW1 store.

Got a nice skin reward from achievements or living story? Unlock it, and any character can use it.
Want a gemstore skin? Pay once for it, use it with any compatible piece of equipment unlimited times without having to pay each time you want to apply it, and without losing access to it when it’s no longer in the store.
Want a gemstore toy or unlimited gathering tool? Pay once for it, get it with any character unlimited times without having to juggle an item in the bank or having to buy one per character.
Got commander unlocked? Can set the commander emblem withany character.
Learned a recipe with a character? It gets unlocked, and added to an account-wide list and any other character can learn the recipe faster without finding the recipe sheet again, depending on how the recipe was learned the first time: karma (costs karma) discovery (requires the materials and artisan level and give exp when learned), others (requires coin).
Got a skill or trait unlocked with a character? No other character of the same profession needs to unlock it again in PvP, and in PvE they have a reduced cost for those unlocked skills.

And so on.

Unlocks are always better.

No exceptions.

Yes.

They added proper weapon preview, but there’s still left:
- Using your own dyes.
- Switching to underwater idle animation. Specially while equipped with water weapons.
- Switching between idle, walking, running, and sprinting animations. (And swimming animations too)
- Emotes.
- Skill animations.

Some animations really break how some equipment looks, and so it’ll be better to be able to see everything beforehand.

“Out of bounds” doesn’t mean “Outside the map”.

“Out of bounds” means “Outside the parts of the map within which you are intended to be”. People is getting out of bounds in maps all the time.

They removed with invisible walls out of bounds hiding spots that were way, way, WAAAAAY easier to reach. They simply missed this one.

You can save up your lies and excuses. Access to that spot in not intuitively visible. You can’t just jump there like you can jump on a rock. You have to step in particular spots in a particular way, in a particular order.

All activities, ALL are intended for all players, ALL. Both new and old. So any new player should be able to pick up things on the fly. Not having to learn all the intricacies of the map that are not intuitive.

Stop making excuses for what you are completely aware it’s wrong. ANet has proven countless times that they do not buy into the excuses of exploiters trying to excuse their cheating.

And yes, the rifle thing was also a bad idea. It may sond cool, and it’ll be cool for something like a dungeon or explorable area, but not for an activity.

What? Are you being serious?

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Condition#From_allies

Party-wide condition removal has been around for ages.

No way this skill will be more powerful than any them, as PvE skills are slightly weaker on purpose. Making them niche skills players use to fill gaps (like when sylvari mesmers bring Take Root on PvE zergs because their other skills are pointless as they affect only 5 players and the moa transformation can actually make an easy lengendary troublesome as they don’t get reduced power and epic bosses are immune to it, while Take Root has a short invulnerability that comes in handy when dodges run out and some extra targets to soak a bit of damage).

This is most definitely here so people have a guaranteed way to remove Toxin, and as an experiment on ways to add more skills.

Dungeon ranking... The Theory

in Suggestions

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

The game doesn’t seem to track very well things like condition damage and I’m sure it can’t track more complex things like damage avoided with interruptions, stealth, crowd control and the like.
Such stats would only mislead players into thinking those number are what really matters, when they are not.

What matters is the results, which is simply less player defeats and more monster kill in less time, to ‘clean’ as much of the dungeon in as little time as possible.

When I read “ranking” I though you were talking about something like GW1’s challenge rankings.
That could be actually nice. Get to the end killing more enemies in less time (skipping enemies would get you less score), and you get to the top of the ranking, and the first 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to 10th in the World (server) get a reward at the end of the month, and ANet can also check on them to see exploits the people encouraged by the ranking may be used to do faster killings.
Then, to see the ranking, check the website or talk to the ‘host’ NPC by the door of the dungeon.

The "Truly Ascended" Gear Proposal

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

So…

Legendary-> You have all stat combinations available for that item. No restrictions.
Ascended -> You have the ascended’s own stats, and can freely switch to stat combinations you’ve unlocked.
Exotics or less -> You just have the item’s stats.

Is that it?

Hm… make it so

  • The unlocks are per item type, not per stat. So if you unlock “Soldier” for swords, you don’t get automatically “Soldier” for other weapons.
  • The unlocks are account bound, but require crafting an item that unlocks the stat. The recipe requires one vision crystals to craft among other materials (e.g. insignias, inscriptions, an exotic with those stats, etc), so it also includes 20 skill points and some ascended materials.

With those conditions, I’m in. That’s a horizontal progression system that I could take. First go for the stats I want to equip more often, then go for the rest to try out stuff, and each character only needs to get ascended items once, no need to get multiple sets.

That along a system to progressively unlock skins would make the best out o gearing in GW2.

[Suggestion] Bought recipes as account unlock

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

This is an important step in The Path to Unlocks.

At the very least ascended and legendary recipes and recipes that can only be obtained once or that are very rare drops should be unlocked account bound.

I would go as far as making it so when you learn a recipe with a character, it becomes available to learn for all other characters.

They’ll appear with a different color currently unused for the lists (e.g.: Legendary purple, ascended pink) on all recipe lists of all characters on their corresponding disciplines. And when you click the recipe, the appearance will be different depending on the type of recipe:

  • Ascended, legendary, bulk recipes (armor containers, utility stations, food trays, etc) and exceptionally rare or grindy recipes: The recipe is ready to use, already learned. It loses the different color after the first time it’s clicked to view the recipe’s panel.
  • Discoverable recipes: It loses the different color the first time it’s crated. They also give the discovery bonus the first time it’s crafted, making it easier to rediscover recipes already discovered by other characters, as you can use the panel instead going to the discovery panel and go strain your hands with the clickity click, and you’ll know which ingredients you are missing.
  • Rest of recipes that are account bound or soul bound and cost karma, coin or other small costs, like those from merchants that pop after events and those from renown hearts: The panel will show a cost for the character to learn it. Generally a bit more karma or coin than going to the NPC that sells them, like 430 karma instead 395 and 2.5 silver instead 1.80 and things like that. The different color is lost when learned.
  • Rest of recipes that are tradable: There should be a cost to learn them, but also a button to open the trading post and search for them. The cost will generally be high. So buying them in the trading post may be cheaper, for example: 1 gold in the panel vs 10 silver in the trading post for a sinister weapon recipe. This is to keep both prices down when it’s cheaper in the panel and drops sold in the trading post relevant so people just don’t pay on the panel. The different color is lost when learned.

Also, an additional filter would be added at the top: “Recipes not yet learned”. Disable this filter to hide all the recipes unlocked for the account but not known by the current character.

Jumping Puzzle Feedback [Merged]

Other than a few camera jumps I had no issues with it.
I just had to switch to a human with the shortest possible height, after some failed tries with other races and their misleading animations.

And the camera jumps were not that bad.
I had time to reposition the camera when it went all the way yo the floor a couple of times while jumping in the snowflakes, and the rest of the puzzle was clear of nearby obstacles so the camera had nothing to collide with.

Nothing near as bad as the Mad King’s “look at the floor all the time” effect or the horrible, horrible Skipping Stones camera crazyness.

Compensation for getting reset to level 30?

in Fractured

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

All I can say is that if such a compensation were to be granted, it should never be something unique that can’t be obtained any other way.

When you add unique rewards for doing something unexpected, they must stay. Like Legendary Defender of Ascalon stayed after being added when people managed to get to level 20 in pre-Searing ascalon.

Those levels are being removed, replaced by new forms of difficulty and variations, and there was no previous warning about it, so they can’t have unique rewards. Any reward for getting to them would have to be something that other players can still get, like a miniature from series 2.

And never something you’ll get from the new content, like a title for reaching level 50 in the new fractals, as the new 50 can’t be compared to the old.

Funny hints at a trinity

MithranArkanere.8957

“No trinity” doesn’t mean “no roles”. It means “no exclusive roles bound to professions”.

In other words, you will never make a build focused almost exclusively in a single role, like healer that all it does is just looking at healing bars and heal like monks did in GW1.

Even if you go around with a nomad guardian or elementalist and put all your points and pick all your skills for healing, you will still have control and damage skills. Just look at the Ice Bow, it gives +healing, but it’s also one of the greatest sources of damage an elementalist has.

They have been making permanent content lately, and it’s really great, as no one is forced to do all the stuff within the time limit, and those who can’t do the main stuff can fill the temporary meta-achievement with dailies.

I really hope they keep on that line. Some temporary achievements and reward for those that play around release, and mostly permanent stuff that stays around once the living part is done.

You know, they could have added an NPC replaying the event as a cinematic or something, much like cinematics in GW1 that replay Mission cutscenes and explain arena rules to single players in an area.

Something like:

  • NPC banter: You missed it! Talk to me! You must know.
  • Talk to NPC:
    • NPC> You wouldn’t believe what I saw! You missed the whole thing!
    • Player>
      1. : Eh? Did I miss something? You have to tell me!
