Hmm…I can’t think of something logical, so maybe it’s time to start experimenting and get creative. >:D
If you want to continue hearing any ideas I come up with to see if this can be resolved, let me know. I love trying to find illogical solutions to obscure bugs. I would also love to know if any of these actually work if you choose to try them out!

As an update, this issue was fixed today when the laggy TP UI fix was implemented.
Thank you very much!
+1
I would very much appreciate the addition of a 2k skin achievement with title and a 3k skin achievement with title for the same reasons you have cited for losing interest in further unlocking skins.
Perhaps the video guide you were following was from an earlier version of the game, or perhaps from during beta. It does appear that the rubble wall has been moved forward in the current version of the game. Perhaps that was not the correct way of getting to the vista and it has been adjusted to block it off to encourage the use of the proper method of attaining the vista.
I’ll see if I can look into it a bit more to see another way of getting to the vista.
edit
Oh! That vista!
Yeah. You have to go through the cave with cave trolls in it down to the right from the vista. This cave leads you right to the vista, though it is guarded by a veteran cave troll. There should also be a rich vain to mine in there as well.

You can have player-to-player trading and still tax the items being traded, include taxes on the items in the player trading screens required to be included to complete the transaction. You include a weapon and a price in the screen, I enter the requested amount of coin and the tax is calculated based on what the requested amount of coin from you was and by my entering the requested amount and clicking Agree/Finalize, then the coin I agreed to plus the coin for the tax that was calculated is taken from my wallet. Coin goes to you, tax flies away on a bird, I get the item. When trading an item for an item, then the tax could be determined either by the trade screen running a quick query of the trading post for the values of the items, or based on a percentage of the vendor value times a predetermined value for the quality of the item (blue, green, rare, exotic, etc.) and both parties are then required to agree to pay their respective taxes and fees on the transaction.
Just some quick thoughts. I didn’t really think through all possibilities, but wanted to point out that it really isn’t a “one or the other” kind of scenario regarding player trading and trading post, both can exist in harmony, and in some ways is actually beneficial to the economy as not all items will be put on the trading post , so supply to the post will not be as extreme and prices will equilibrate to a more appropriate level on many of the over-stocked items that are now listed that net the seller less than vendor value of the items.
Thoughts?
Blah run-on sentence. Might edit and clarify later.
Paid accounts can have a maximum of 72(73?) character slots, though I think that requires several past situations to gain a couple slots that cannot be gotten any longer (HoT pre-purchase/“compensation” slots). So a new/paid account today could likely get their max slots up to about 70.
Additional character slot unlocks are available in the gem store for 800 gems each, though they do sometimes go on sale for less (usually about 650).
EDIT:
Based on how the account types and restrictions pages read, I originally thought Play For Free accounts could not purchase additional character slots unless they purchased the game. Additional posts here by other players informed that P4F players are able to purchase additional character slots from the gem store.

Thank you very much!
:D You’re welcome. Really glad to hear that it fixed the issue for ya!
Happy gaming!
I was pleasantly surprised by the patch notes.
As a person who absolutely loves reading every single character in patch notes, those long and detailed notes were a dream!
Thank you, ANet, for those lovely notes! I hope all future updates are as detailed and inclusive of changes implemented by the update they are for.
As for what those gorgeous notes detailed:
Practically the entirety of the patch notes were related to things that do not affect my playstyle or alter areas of the game that I take part. However, a lot of the update seems well-received and offered positive changes for areas of the game for other players, so that’s awesome. Though due to my not really taking part in those areas of gameplay, I have no personal opinion on them.
The only changes that really affect me would be the slight adjustments to some skills for some professions, but even those changes were not really a big deal or ‘game-changing’. Though I must admit I like the ranger sword skill no longer being animation-locked…but I rarely use that as my primary weapon on my rangers.
The Effect Quality option is nice, but it does not revert all changed skills to their former, fully graphic state and only reverts the Elementalist Fireball. It is nice to finally get that back, but what about all of the other changed skill effects that were diminished that are not reverted to their previous appearance? Seems to be barely implemented at all. Maybe down the road everything else will get included and reverted to their former glory as well, which I look forward to reading about their inclusion in some future, highly-detailed patch notes.
I enjoyed Inquisition last year.
Then again, last year we didn’t have the champ train and event farming for rewards mentality and the unacceptable behavior of an ever-growing portion of those that take part in the farming trains.
True, there were trains and farmers last year, but the sour and aggressive ‘me, me, me, do as I say’ mentality has had over a year to fester, and with each game update this horrible behavior has only been rewarded…and seemingly encouraged.
I won’t even be trying Inquisition this year for the exact reason stated by the OP; it won’t be fun. I wanted to spend a lot of time playing it this year, but all I’ve heard from people who went in with fond memories of last year and wanting to play it as it was intended, is that it simply cannot be played for fun anymore.
If my entire team is just going to sacrifice themselves just to ‘get it over with’ to get their optimal rewards faster instead of playing as it is intended…why bother? What I found fun about the game wasn’t just beating the other team to win the round, it was outlasting my teammates to show that I was better at hiding and evading. If they all give up at the start just to ‘get it over with’ so they can get their APs and junk bags, then the part of Inquisition I enjoy no longer exists.
It sounds like you need to configure your Windows UAC to permit the game to contact the update server.
The easiest way is to:
Run As Admin
Otherwise, if the issue persists then you may want to make sure your Gw2.exe is permitted access to the internet in your anti-virus and firewall programs. However, I believe the UAC configuring via Run As Admin should solve the issue.
Aw that is lovely. Congratulations pdavis. You seem like a nice person from reading your posts so I would say the gifts have found a deserving home.
Once, in the bad old days of the Queensdale train a fellow participant posted a link in map chat to the Stardust bow he had just received as loot. I wrote back, ‘congrats’ or something similar. The next minute I received an email from the player gifting me the bow. Not quite on the same level perhaps but to me it was the most amazing thing that anyone could have done. I smiled for hours afterwards.
I encountered a very similar occurrence. A long time ago I was in Queensdale killing fish in the lake near the troll and someone linked Impaler into chat saying that they had just gotten it from a champ bag. I congratulated them and mentioned that I find it to be one of the best looking spears and that I was currently saving up to buy one for when I got my character to 80. A moment later I got a mail with the weapon in it. I was shocked. I responded that I was grateful but that I could not accept it. They said they had already gotten several of them and that they were just going to salvage it and insisted that I keep it. I was very happy. I still have and use it to this day and also remember who it was that had given it to me.

A lot of these forum users have a classic case of ‘scotoma’ (from the dictionary.. [psychol] a mental blind spot; inability to understand or perceive certain matters) or if you’ve seen The Da Vinci Code, “the mind sees what it chooses to see”. A good number of people do that here, going right over the blindingly obvious and throwing their own suggestions in without having read through the essential pieces of information.
Regarding the first birthday presents, I have received all mine (I made 8 characters on the day of release to people who got the headstart). Let’s re-read that again guys… the headstart people get their’s today… everyone else who did not get headstart access will be getting their’s on the 28th if they played from release.
Thankyou kindly.
Would you please link the source of your quoted “essential pieces of information” that we all seem to have missed?
The reason for not having more 1-5 skills is indeed a balancing problem. Adding more skills will only make things more complicated.
More complicated in WvW and sPvP, yes, but why do PvE (open world as well as ‘dungeon’) players have to suffer from this same imposed limitation on skills? PvP modes and PvE should be completely separate. When a change is made in the name of ‘balance’ to PvP modes, why are such changes to traits, utility skills, and weapon skills also forced onto PvE players?
Thank you for providing that link, JustTrogdor. I was just looking it up to include it in my comment as a citation. I appreciate your always being on top of things.
An updated appearance I recently did for one of my older rangers.
Due to the extremely over-sized armor elements on male sylvari, I opted to remake him as female instead.

An option to right-click a buff and click ‘Remove’ has been requested several times over the years, primarily to counter this exact method of trolling. Those threads never garnered a response and no option has been implemented. Sadly, we’re unlikely to ever get such an option.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
I believe it doesn’t give you anything, but it spawns an item nearby to him that you and anyone else can interact with to gain a buff.
I used to love leveling new characters. Used to. It had even been my main reason for playing.
I’ve leveled dozens of characters up pretty high and then deleted them just before 80 and remade them just because I enjoyed leveling the character so much.
I currently have 14 characters that I cycle through. My 14th character I made and leveled after the trait changes just to see how it was…I’ve not made another character since.
The only thing that could get me to deal with the mess that leveling a new character has become (or to even spend gems to buy more character slots) is if a new race is released. Even if a new race becomes available, I will be unlikely to enjoy leveling it due to the changes.
Taking away the enjoyment of making and leveling alts has nearly killed my reason for playing anymore. I pretty much only log in to do my daily for the laurel, stand around for an hour staring at the screen in sadness…and then log out. Whereas before the changes I would gladly make a new character to level up even if I just made a duplicate of an existing character (which I frequently did).
Of all the changes that damaged the enjoyment I receive from playing the game (megaserver for one), the trait system changes may be the one that has caused the most damage and may even lead to my walking away entirely due to actively discouraging me from the playing the part of the game I enjoyed most.

If the bottleneck on decently designed and sufficiently varied armor being introduced into the game is due to lack of design concepts, and not so much on the actual modeling of the armor, I’d gladly start submitting design concepts that are free for you to have/use/not use, ArenaNet. I’m sure many in this community are capable of producing quality and creative armor designs with species/gender/weight variations and would gladly offer them freely for your use as well.
If the bottleneck is actually at the modeling stage, then I’d gladly also freely offer the designed armor to include model files as well. Just mention what program/format you would prefer the models designed in for easy alterations and implementation consideration.
I understand there would likely be wavers of rights to submitted material and agreements and such. Not a problem. It’s the right way to do it to cover butts, yours and ours.
If you need help, we’re here for you! There are many talented artists in this community, start tapping into us! Let’s get this ‘Player Generated Concepts/Content’ going.

Politely requesting that you follow the forum rules and post your topics in their appropriate sub-forums is not verbally insulting, harassing or otherwise. You clearly know that you are reporting non-game bugs in the game bugs forum and you’ve intentionally advanced the issue to a personal and verbal attack on me in-thread and via private message; all of which have been reported. I will not be responding to you again.
Please refer to the Tracker: Reported Bugs and Their Status [collaborative effort by players] sticky thread.
Functionality (Hover on INFO for issue description)
I don’t even pay attention to gaining character levels, let alone in a hurry to gain them as fast as possible to get to 80. If I get near 80 I actually start a new character. In fact, if I could turn off XP gain, I would. I play the game and have fun doing whatever with whichever character I feel like playing at the time based on how I made them to look.
It has been requested for culling priority to be on players first and then on enemies only after players are culled. Or to even have separate culling settings for players and enemies.
Here are two past discussions on the subject:

You all look so incredible…
I’m lucky, I suppose, that I had not finished the full makeover and opted to store my old armors with the cultural skins I have on them…luckier than most everyone else.
We all share a great pain, one that I know I will not be forgetting, or forgiving, any time soon.

Technically, binding a single key to send a predefined word or sentence to chat is against the ToS. Policy is 1 key = 1 action.
Making a single key press automatically perform multiple key presses is performing multiple actions with a single key press.
At minimum, sending a single letter to chat via one key press would be bannable as that one key press would be performing 3 actions. Expand that out to entire words or sentences and it really adds up to how many actions are performed via that single key press.
Not sure if they have banned accounts for macroing chat statements before or not, or if they’re kind of lax on enforcing macro usage for this behavior. Just letting you know that it technically does violate the ToS, so do not be surprised if you do get banned for doing it (or attempting to do it).

Wow…it’s the exact same giant.
How…disappointing. My exact thoughts when I see a female human.
flees
haha
Good point. :P
I don’t know about the rest but i really like the one that I have on my ranger, with a black color and a blue glow.
PS: It’s only available in Total Makeover Kits or Self-Style Hair Kits.
That one is at the top of my favorites list for females.

I have 26ish characters that I completely re-fashioned many times and have never bought charges via any means. I do not PvP but I’ve not really encountered issues of running low on transmutation charges.
If you are interested:
Just as some players would ‘farm’ black lion keys with new characters, you can have a character slot dedicated to doing a ‘T Charge Run’ to earn a couple in about 10 minutes.
Yep, my actual character name
You could go and do other cities, but by the time you complete just one of the other cities (Divinity’s Reach, Hoelbrak or Black Citadel) you could have already re-created the character and gotten The Grove done and be moving on to Rata Sum again. (exception being Black Citadel where an optimized path might be worth including in the run, barely)
So:
__
I feel 2 charges in 10ish minutes is decent, especially since you can choose to take your time, chat, do other things or even take a break and pick up where you left off and are not locked in to an activity like taking part in PvP.
(You you can also sell/scrap some starter items for a few copper/silver if so inclined.)
If you would like to do a few test runs and follow me around to learn what I feel are decently optimal paths, contact me in-game and we can do a few runs. I had liked to try to get ‘my best time’ when doing them, but I’ve not done them for a while so I may be a bit rusty on tweaks to shave 1-3 seconds off total run time.

Personally, I’m quite happy with the new green one and I do not mind individual colors being sold one bit.
Actually, I’d prefer it if they’d throw blue, purple, yellow and orange glowing masks into the gem store right this minute so my other characters can get their matching colors!
I think The Riven is finally nearing completion thanks to this new green one.
After doing that, if you still receive errors then you may want to:
Check the game for errors and repair it
Head: None
Shoulders: Researcher’s Epaulets (human cultural T1 @ 40 silver)
Chest: Aetherblade Light Armor (gem store – 800 gems)

Pants: Researcher’s Pants (human cultural T1 @ 60 silver)
Boots: Not enough visible

Regarding the topic, perhaps the locals can re-purpose the wood used in the tower (that was taken from the surrounding trees) to construct a monument on the shores of Viathan Lake to commemorate the victory. Showing the structure in various states of construction over the next few updates, while also including NPCs chopping at the remains of the fallen fortress and the incremental lessening of fragments littering the area, would really give the world that Living World feel.
Clear the game cache
Most TP-specific issues are primarily related to some temporary GW2 files where removing them will allow them to be recreated and the TP to function properly again.
The quickest way to clear the GW2 Cache is to:
If your search for “gw2cache” does not produce the folder I mentioned, then you will need to enable hidden files and folders in order to delete this cache folder.
Make hidden files visible and clear the game cache

By “window menus” I mean up at the top of the window where it says “File Edit View Tools Help”. If that bar does not display in your window for you along the top, then click the drop-down arrow next to the word “Organize” and then click on “Layout” and select “Menu bar” to enable showing of the menus (attached image #2).Another way to do Steps 3, 4 and 5 to make hidden folders visible is:
- Click your Start menu and then open Control Panel
- In your Control Panel, if items are sorted by “Category” then select “Appearance and Personalization” on the right side, then in the second bottom area under “Folder Options” click on “Show hidden files and folders”. This will open the same options dialogue box shown in attached image #1.
- Otherwise, if Control Panel is sorted by Icons, simply click on “Folder Options” from the list to bring up the options dialogue box shown in attached image #1.
Decided to craft the ascended green colored blade back piece, so here is an updated appearance to my recently posted character.

Armor/Dye details are in the image.
Applying a rune or other upgrade to an item soulbinds it. There’s a warning popup when you apply the rune, but it looks like the item description is not correctly updating.
Regarding this issue of the description not updating, it has never updated properly, and I mean “never” literally. There have also been dozens upon dozens of threads on this exact issue in these bug forums since the game released.
Seeing as you now state that you are aware of this issue of the description not updating upon application of an upgrade item, would you be so kind as to be sure that it is added to your list of bugs that need correcting, please?
I still feel that all armor should have an additional checkbox added to them which allows the ‘extra detail/artistic flair’ elements of an armor’s appearance to be toggled off/on. This way the extra elements can be offered on both gender’s versions of the armors and players can then choose to display them or not.

“So join us at noon today on at http://twitch.tv/guildwars2 – see you there!”
It should be either “on” or “at”, but not both.
Minor, but for the sake of professionalism and quality I thought I would point it out.
This seems like a massive problem within this community even myself I have placed a ticket in for this issue I spent rl money for keys to find the chests I unlocked where SOULBOUND to a character I enrolled without knowing this… And it seems the replies form the support are that I just have to put up with it as “this situation cannot be resolved” pffft it’s stupid.
It is very easily resolved. Previous changes to soulbound items being made account bound (Queen’s Gauntlet Tickets, for one) shows that they are quite capable of making this binding change quickly and easily even if the item resides in the bank and not on the character it was bound to…they have just not chosen to make this change as yet. As this behavior persisting has caused and will continue to cause players to no longer purchase keys for their chests in the future, it would be in their best interest to make this change.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
I have not taken part in any demo for PoF so I cannot comment on what issues I did or did not encounter.
However, one thing to check is to see if there is a keybind conflict.
Perhaps you have a mount ability bound to the same key as your character sheet, where hitting it while unmounted opens the sheet, but hitting it while mounted causes a conflict or something and neither the mount ability or the character sheet are activating.
May just double check all of your binds to see if anything is conflicting in the primary/secondary bound keys for all functions against what you have your character sheet bound to. Couldn’t hurt.
It is no longer obtainable. The only way to get it was to have participated during the Bazaar of the Four Winds Living Story event last year. It can still be viewed at the Black Lion Weapon Trader, but to actually buy one you need to use event currency that could only have been acquired from taking part in the BotFW event. So unless you did participate and have these fortune scraps still, you can no longer get it.

By “asked support”, do you mean in the Tech Support Forum, the Account Issues Forum or through the Support Ticket system?
The “stuck character” issue is one of a few issues that only Support can resolve.
