You may want to post this in the Account Issues forum and try to get Gaile Gray’s attention there. I’m sure she would be able to offer more help there than the lack of attention your thread would get here. Good luck.

Personal Story Dead sister Commoner broken

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

What level is your character? You’ve done the last step of Chapter 2, once you reach L30 it will unlock Chapter 3 and should send the mail.

They mentioned that they are level 25, so you are correct; they do need to wait until level 30 before they can start the next chapter of their personal story.

However, they should not be told “You have an important letter. Read your mail.” if they will not be getting that mail for another 5 levels when Chapter 3 unlocks.

Perhaps this part of the personal story was not adjusted when it was altered to release in bundles at specific levels. The “Read your mail” message should be at the start of Chapter 3 and not at the end of Chapter 2 since they will not be getting that mail for some time.

Or instead of moving it to the start of Chapter 3, reword that message at the end of Chapter 2 so it relays the information that they “should await the arrival of an important letter”, instead of stating that they currently do have an important letter that they do not actually have yet, or will be getting any time soon.

This way they can continue playing as normal, and when they hit level 30 they will receive the important letter that they were waiting for. Chapter 2 ends and the delay before chapter 3 unlocks due to having to gain levels will flow nicer and not cause confusion.

I may not have expressed this adequately, but the main point is that the ends of chapters should be adjusted appropriately to account for the next chapter not being available immediately as it was previously. As it is now, some chapters end and it is assumed that the character can advance to the next one, though now they must meet the level requirements and must gain levels before the next chapter is available. This delay while the character gains levels is not reflected in the transition stage between chapter unlocks.

Downed Graphic Change?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

On the mini-map the icon changes from the blue arrow to a black circle with a blue skull and cross bones in it.

On-screen all you see above a dead player is the same blue revive arrow. Unless the player is self-healing to revive themselves or throwing dirt they lay there and look almost exactly like a fully dead player. It isn’t until you start reviving them or actually target them that you notice they are actually fully dead.

edit to add
It has confused me and wasted precious seconds at times. I’d have run over to a player I could tell was reviving themselves over this fully dead player had it been easier to tell, especially if they are right next to eachother you cannot tell which is which on the mini-map.

Achievment unlocked rewards withdraw

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

There is an infinite number of copies for you to withdraw from there. Notice that you now have a stack of 42 of those skins sitting in your inventory that can be used and applied to your weapon on that character.

Also, with the wardrobe being implemented, you can apply the skin to your active weapon in the Appearance/Wardrobe tab of your Hero Panel. Selecting the achievement skin to apply to your weapon does not require a transmutation charge.

Either way you apply your unlocked achievement skin to your weapon will be free and applicable an infinite number of times.

Dye changes won't stay

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

When you used the dye remover, did you just use it to remove the dye and redye the slots again, without saving the changes between removing dye and changing dye?

If you used the dye remover and then dyed the slots, try using the dye remover on all of the slots, then saving the dye changes, then redye and save the new colors.

To be clearer, be sure you did this:

  • Dye Remover on all slots
  • Apply changes
  • Dye all slots to your liking
  • Apply changes

And not this:

  • Dye Remover on all slots
  • Dye all slots again
  • Apply changes

Not a problem. I fault no one for being unable to find relevant threads due to the embarrassingly non-functional search function.

I’ve just been reading that thread often so I knew what title to look for and how far to look to find it. Just included where it was in case you may have been wondering where the most recent discussion on it had dropped to.

I sometimes have to pour through dozens of pages to find what page a thread I had been following had dropped to, especially if I hadn’t commented in the thread or liked a post in it so I could track it easily due to the “Subscribe” button also being embarrassingly non-functional.

Patch, close launcher, replace the files into the bin folder again, modify your game shortcut and add these arguments with your actual email and password:

Temporary workaround until it gets sorted out so the launcher doesn’t break with non-GW2 files in the bin folder.

Trading Post remains blank

StinVec.3621

Clear the game cache
Most TP-specific issues are primarily related to some temporary GW2 files where removing them will allow them to be recreated and the TP to function properly again.

The quickest way to clear the GW2 Cache is to:

  1. Ensure your game is completely closed.
  2. Hold your “Windows Key” and press “F” to open Windows Search on your computer.
  3. Search for “gw2cache
  4. It will find a folder called “gw2cache-{bunch-of-letters-and-numbers}” at:
    “C:\Users\YourComputerUserName\AppData\Local\Temp”
  5. Delete this “gw2cache-{bunch-of-letters-and-numbers}” folder that is shown in the results.
  6. Load up your game normally and your TP should now function properly.

If your search for “gw2cache” does not produce the folder I mentioned, then you will need to enable hidden files and folders in order to delete this cache folder.

Make hidden files visible and clear the game cache

  1. Close your game completely.
  2. Browse your My Computer to: “C:\Users\YourComputerUserName”
  3. Then in the window menus, click on “Tools” then “Folder Options…”
  4. In the window that pops up, click the “View” tab
  5. Select to “Show hidden files, folders and drives” and click ‘OK’ (attached image #1)
  6. You should now see a folder in your file listing called “AppData”, open this folder
  7. Inside that folder open the “Local” folder
  8. Inside that folder open the “Temp” folder
  9. You should now see a folder called “gw2cache-{bunch-of-letters-and-numbers}”. Delete this gw2cache folder.
  10. Load up your game normally and see if the issue is fixed.

note
By “window menus” I mean up at the top of the window where it says “File Edit View Tools Help”. If that bar does not display in your window for you along the top, then click the drop-down arrow next to the word “Organize” and then click on “Layout” and select “Menu bar” to enable showing of the menus (attached image #2).

Another way to do Steps 3, 4 and 5 to make hidden folders visible is:

  • Click your Start menu and then open Control Panel
  • In your Control Panel, if items are sorted by “Category” then select “Appearance and Personalization” on the right side, then in the second bottom area under “Folder Options” click on “Show hidden files and folders”. This will open the same options dialogue box shown in attached image #1.
  • Otherwise, if Control Panel is sorted by Icons, simply click on “Folder Options” from the list to bring up the options dialogue box shown in attached image #1.

Sylvari and the Self-Style Hair Kit

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I agree with your suggestion. However, as the system of using the hair vs total kits is not properly designed for what the game has become with its wardrobe and appearance additions, and adding glow color to the Self-Style Hair Kit could also cause additional issues as noted above, I’ll add this re-post to your suggestion as it addresses the core issue of appearance customization limitations.

From: Gemstore Items suggestion thread

From Ronah Lynda.2496’s suggestion thread.

Makeover Kits merged into the Hero Panel

A summary of details in the request:

  • Makeover/hair kits removed from the Gem Store
  • Adjustments require Alteration Charges which are added at the same cost/amount as Transmutation Charges to the Gem Store
  • Charges are used on a ‘per-feature-adjustment’ basis

My reasons for supporting this request:
I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase “charges” (or whatever) to make frequent changes to my appearance. If charges are priced like current Transmutation Charges then I would welcome them and buy them often.

As it is currently, needing to spend far too much for a single kit to make a single adjustment to my appearance causes me to not purchase any.

If I were charged on a per-feature-adjustment basis, I would make changes and tweaks constantly. This ‘fee per adjustment’ plan would result in plenty of appearance charges being used. Spending a ton of gems for a full kit just to tweak the color of my sylvari’s glow so it will match her new armor color scheme…no thanks, not buying those. I’d rather make a new character than buy a kit to tweak one small detail on an existing one.

This would allow for individual changes to be made as needed at a single charge per change instead of the system as it is now where one would need an entire Total Makeover Kit just to change your glow color so it goes with your new hair color or armor dye scheme.

[Sug] Minion Acquisition and Management

in Necromancer

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

As suggestions are now encouraged to be made in their respective areas instead of the suggestions archive, I am making this suggestion again here in the hopes of garnering more opinions on this concept from those who play necromancer. I’d love to hear what you think!

I may be in the minority, but I really do not enjoy the way minions are handled in GW2, especially since it was so incredible in GW1.

I understand that there are reasons for why resurrecting minions from corpses was not implemented in GW2, but I feel that the way minions are currently handled is not ideal and is also lacking in depth. There is a lot of potential still to be had with the GW2 necromancer regarding minion acquisition and management over simply ‘buying’ a summon skill with skill points to summon one of the few predefined kinds.

Imagine if, just as the ranger has to ‘charm’ a juvenile pet for it to be selectable in the pet management, that a necromancer would need to kill an enemy/adult animal and perform a 10 second ritual or something which summons a dead/death-touched version of it, thus binding the soul/its essence to you and it then being able to be summoned in this proposed necromancer minion management. Necromancers could then be able to share some of the same pet control mechanics as the ranger in regards to controlling minions.

It wouldn’t have to be all types of animals that can be resurrected as the ranger has many of the same types of animals it can ‘charm’. Death form of animals could be one of each species; e.g. a feline, a drake, a spider, etc, but would look like dark, twisted versions of them…instead of just a re-skinning, though I’d not complain about that if that were the case. Or it could have nothing to do with animals and be entirely focused on species like Centaurs, or Humans, or even turn a Risen to do your bidding (maybe not Risen, lore likely prevents that).

Due to the increased control over minions (such as a ranger with directing their pet), being able to summon two or three minions at once would then be possible only to those necromancers who trait into minion controlling. To counter the OP nature of having three controllable pets, I would then like to see the return of the mechanic of minions constantly losing health and the need for sustaining your summons through sacrificing your own health, or better yet, your life force bar for death shroud. It would be interesting to have to choose between assuming death shroud or using the life force stored there through killing enemies to heal your minions.

And if you have two (or the max of 3) summoned minions, keeping the additional ones alive would be very taxing on your life force bar, so keeping and maintaining one or two would be ideal, but a third wouldn’t be impossible if there are plenty of enemies to fuel your life force bar. Even then, converting the life force into health for sustaining the minions could be attached to minion F-key skills with a cool down so you could only heal each of them so often.

Mouse Cursor: An option to change color?

Are we allowed to use this, because losing my cursor is very frustrating and this would make me so very happy.

It is still perfectly fine to use. It even offers a 64-bit version for use with the 64-bit GW2 beta client.

If you need help with some customized cursors, I’d be happy to find or make one to your liking or send you some that I’m currently using, though most of the ones I use are animated and not static.

[Suggestion] AFK auto-kick time

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Very much agree, though I would vote for 15 minutes (20 max) as my ideal time. There are also many people with disabilities and medical conditions to where it can easily take 10-15 minutes just to go to the bathroom. I think 10 minutes would be a little on the ‘bit too soon’ side, with 20 being the longest I can see as being reasonable. But, yeah, an hour has no logical basis for being the kick time any longer with the content changes and world dynamics having evolved.

Scarlett’s actually alive! Yeah, I went there!

We find out that there never was a Scarlet and that she was just an illusion generated by Queen Jennah for the purpose of seeing her true agenda realized while maintaining her reputation as being “good” and her throne of power and control. Kasmeer is also revealed as having aided the Queen by assisting with maintaining the Scarlet illusion on a watchwork frame at remote areas where players would encounter a non-holographic form of her. Players killed an illusion (maintained by Kasmeer) just as the Queen wanted us to since the Scarlet character was no longer needed.

[Sug] Minion Acquisition and Management

in Necromancer

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

[…Continued]
But, with more minions summoned, the less control the necro has over them.
1 Summon:
F1 – Heals Summon #1
F2 – Special ability for Summon #1 much like the F2 ability on ranger pets.
F3 – Sacrifice the minion and cause a poisonous explosion at their location.
F4 – Sacrifice the minion for its life force (remaining health) to fuel death shroud ability instead.

2 Summons: By having 2 minions, the necro forgoes the special ability for Minion #1.
F1 – Heals Summon #1
F2 – Heals Summon #2
F3 – Sacrifice a random minion and cause a poisonous explosion at their location.
F4 – Sacrifice a random minion for its life force (remaining health) to then use for healing the remaining minion or to use as fuel for death shroud ability instead.

3 Summons: By having 3 minions, the necro forgoes the poisonous explosion ability.
F1 – Heals Summon #1
F2 – Heals Summon #2
F3 – Heals Summon #3
F4 – Sacrifice a random minion for its life force (remaining health) to then use for healing remaining summons or to use as fuel for death shroud ability instead.

Or simply limit it to 2 max summons and maintain the F3 and F4 functionality defined above in the 2 Summons area. Can also have it to where the initial summoning of a minion uses half of the life force bar, as needing life force to summon a minion makes sense. So the necro can choose to use the life force to create a new minion, to use it to heal an existing one, or sacrifice an existing one and then summon a new one if there is enough life force in reserve.

I make this suggestion primarily as a plea for the dark, necrotic side of the Necromancer to make its return. It deserves it. For the existing players that like how summons work currently, during character creation of a new necro, what way they want minions to be (current vs proposed) could be tied to a selection:

Current: “I wield the souls of creatures granted to me by X god.”
Proposed: “I dominate and control the souls of creatures of my own choosing.”

However, under the new minion acquisition and management, several skill unlocks would no longer exist that relate to the existing minions; e.g. minion summoning skills. So it might not be possible to allow existing necromancers to switch to the proposed form of minion acquisition and management, though I believe that it can be worked out to allow switching via a trait to where those summon skills are replaced with other minion related skills.

I know there is still a lot to work out on details and balancing, but it should only be implemented into PvE for starters and not in PvP modes as it could introduce a lot of issues with the existing balance for those modes of play.

However, I still believe that the changes that have been made in the name of balance in PvP and WvW should not have also been forced onto PvE players. These modes of play should remain completely separate from eachother; different skills and different traits ideally, but balance changes to PvP/WvW should not have any effect on PvE, just as the opposite should be true.

Anyone have additional thoughts or comments on this idea?

GW2 Becoming P2W

GW2 isn’t P2W. I agree with others, if someone thinks GW2 is P2W then they don’t know what P2W actually means.

2 Ferocity attributes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Hi, Anet. Can you pop in here to help with this attribute naming confusion, please?

I’m curious as to why “Ferocity” was the name that was decided on for what the Crit Dmg stat is going to be called when that change goes into effect when we already have a “Ferocity” attribute in the game:

Character Personality Characteristics:

  • Charisma
  • Dignity
  • Ferocity

This may not seem like an issue for most players, but it may cause quite a bit of confusion for many when talking about character attributes (especially role players I would think).

Q.
Are you going to rename the personality attribute to something else or will we be left with two attributes with the same name; one for personality, one for combat effectiveness?

“Personality is a roleplaying mechanic that affects a character’s interactions with NPCs in the world. The initial personality is determined by how the player answers biography questions during character creation and is refined by the most recent 100 encounters with particular NPCs.

The game keeps track of three aspects of personality: Charisma, Ferocity and Dignity, whose sum is 100%. Dialogue choices can affect the personality by increasing one aspect and thereby decreasing the others. For example, constant bullying of shopkeepers might increase ferocity to a point that the character becomes barbaric. Similarly, frequent cunning will lead to a reputation as a scoundrel."

Anniversary Sales [End.]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

That’s officially a wrap I think. No bunny ears, but I can’t complain. :P

Anet said months ago that they wont release any more single armor skins in the gem store, just outfits.

I believe the actual statement was that full armor sets would be acquired via in-game rewards and outfits would be gem store exclusive items. I do not believe there was any mention whatsoever of single item armor skins that are not part of a set in their statement, which would include the bunny ears. This does not mean that we will definitely see bunny ears in the gem store again at some point, but it also does not mean that we definitely will not.

Well, last October Gaile said she will tell the gem store team that players asked for bunny ears. They didnt release it over Easter or during this sale or at any other time.

If you want to believe they will introduce them again, good luck.

I am happy that they dont.

This was an unexpected response from you.

I was simply correcting your comment regarding their statement about armors for the sake of accuracy.

Also, I made no mention of my desiring or not desiring the bunny ears to be available again in the gem store, so I do not know why you felt the need to poke at me like that and assume that I do want them to return. If they come back I’ll get them, if they do not, then ok.

As for your own desire for them to not return and their continued unavailability making you happy…um…ok. Good for you? I do not see how other players having the bunny ears affects you negatively in any way. If someone does not like seeing bunny ears on other players, simply turn the appearance option down so everyone looks the same. Boom. No more bunny ears on their screen.

I am not saying that you are, but I did not take you for being in the ‘Look at me, I have it and you do not’ or ‘I do not like it so nobody should have it’ crowds as your remark seems to imply one or the other could be the case.

Honestly, were it to become available in the gem store, I would probably spend 5,000 to 10,000 gems gifting it to anyone and everyone so as many people as possible would have it in case they want it so people who are against their being sold will see nothing but a sea of bunny ears everywhere they look.

Do you have a personal problem with me for some reason?

NVM just had to clear out space in my mailbox.

Cool; I’m glad you got your axe. It’s amazing how often folks forget about clearing the mailbox, so don’t worry, you’re not alone with this one.

Hi Gaile. A lot of people do not know of the message limit in the first place to then forget about it or they do not believe that there actually is such a very small limit of 10. I think that the 10/10 message counter in small font may not be enough of a notice to people who expect Gem Store purchases to be delivered and that having a full box would actually prevent their delivery.

Could you see about making a suggestion to have a red-lettered note show in the bottom of the messages inbox when there are messages waiting to be delivered and to clear some messages for them to then be delivered? Would certainly prevent this from being such a massively common issue any longer.

Annoying minipet sounds

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

It’s one of my favorite minis to use, but I only use it when I am not around other people as I know its sound effects can be quite annoying to many, though not to myself.

I do not think the volume of specific minis should be altered at all on a global scale. Instead, I feel that the volume of minis should be on its own volume slider, or at least coupled in with dialogue volume slider. Those who find some mini sounds annoying can choose to lower their volume or mute them instead of forcing lower mini sound effects on everyone across the game.

Then again, I do not mind most mini sounds, but I absolutely cannot stand NPC chatter due to their constantly repeating and bugging out (cutting out mid-sentence, multiple lines playing over each other real fast and repeating, etc), so I keep dialogue sound muted anyway and this would cause mini sounds to also be muted if it were grouped in with dialogue audio.

So I guess it would be best for all player preferences to simply have mini audio on its own volume slider, though this is far from the first time such a change has been suggested/requested.

Sae, if I can make a suggestion: Now that there is more than a single page to your thread, turn your thread into a Q thread so your OP will be at the top of all pages. This way one would not need to swap back to page 1 to see your tracking list.

Thanks for the continual updates, and to others that are keeping up with in-thread updates to the list.

New Back Items - Pics Please? +Set Request

in Cutthroat Politics

StinVec.3621

Exclusive New Back Items
Two new exclusive back items, the Desert Rose and Zephyr Rucksack, are available as rare drops from the Southsun Survival and Aspect Arena activities respectively.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/july-23-2013/

No screenshots, ArenaNet? I would really like to see what these look like as that is important to me for my determining ahead of time how I plan to allocate my time for the different activities during this event.

Also, would you please make these and future event back items be packaged as a “set”? Meaning it includes both the skin and a white, account bound, stat-less back item just as the charr/quaggan back item sets include one?

-Note to others
Yes, I know there are back items on the TP, but those are soulbound on use, have stats, and are also not easily found as they are not in any particular category on the TP. You must know the different names and search for them specifically to find them. Yeah, I know, go to dulfy and see all the names of all back items to then search for, etc. That is not my point, nor is it my request, thank you though. Also, on that subject, they need to add a back item subcategory to the Armor category search drop down on the TP so these can be found easily by anyone without hitting the net to find them. Many still do not even know there are back items on the TP.

Why punish dodging?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Because bad players hate dodging and blame the fact that good players know how to read animations and dodge when needed…

Half the problem is even seeing the animations through all the particle effects. They need an option to turn them down. Stupid amounts. Sometimes I cannot even see bosses.

Indeed. There are still several enemies and bosses in the game that I have no idea what they look like after 3 years other than what I can see in their picture when I target them.

Transmutation Stones not working

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

For some reason transmutation stones have stopped working all together for me. I’ve tried using my Aetherblade armor, Zenith and Super Greatsword skin with transmutation stones and crystals with no luck. Is anyone else having this issue?

I don’t want to make an assumption that this is user error, or that it is, indeed, a bug. I do not know your history with using transmutation, so just to be clear on this, you:

  • Have both items in your bags. Or are you leaving one equipped?
  • You drag the one item to the left and the other to the right. (though which side each item is on does not matter at all)
  • Click the image of the appearance you desire and it slides over to the center and the undesired appearance disappears.
  • Click the stats of the item you desire and it slides over to the center and the undesired stats disappear.
  • If there is a rune/sigil you wish to include, click the rune/sigil of the item you desire and it slides over to the center and if there was an undesired rune/sigil, then that, too, disappears.
  • Item Transmutation button then lights up.
  • You then click on the Item Transmutation button.
    Does nothing happen?
Do you hear a noise when you clicked the Item Transmutation button?
Or did the Item Transmutation button not light up after following these steps?

One thing to note is that, if you try to include the rune/sigil of the higher level item in the transmute window, then the end product must meet the level requirements for the rune. So if you select the stats of a level 20 armor item, and you’re trying to grab the appearance of a level 80 armor item that also has a superior rune on it, then you cannot include the Superior rune in the end product as Superior runes require a level 60 armor item and you’ve selected the stats of a level 20 armor item which cannot have a Superior rune on it.

Gem Store Tab Broken (resolved)

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Heya, KyreneZA.
Is this the issue you are describing?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Gem-store-error

Or do you mean that everything is kind of thrown all the way to the left and stacked on eachother or fonts all messed up?

Have you tried to Run As Administrator and clear your gw2 game cache files already to see if that helps fix it?

Run As Admin

  • Close your game completely.
  • Ensure your game is set to Run As Administrator in the shortcut’s Properties > Compatibility tab.

Clear the game cache
In addition to ‘Running As Administrator’ helping with many issues other than just the TP, most TP-specific issues are primarily related to some temporary GW2 files where removing them will allow them to be recreated and the TP to function properly again.

StinVec.3621

Ah, thank you.
I had seen that video before, but it is very generic. I can see why they dropped it in favor of the launcher they use now, due to how patching is done in GW2 as opposed to how it was on-demand content downloading in GW1. It was just that I see people speaking so highly of this old screen and how amazing, incredible and creative it was, I was expecting something amazing, incredible and creative and worth speaking highly of. Oh well.

I agree though with the sentiment that both the launcher and the character select screen are begging for some creative and graphical attention.

Check the game for errors and repair it

  • Close your game completely.

  • Now, right-click this “Gw2 Repair” shortcut and click on “Properties”.
  • On the “Shortcut” tab look in the “Target:” field, you should see:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” or wherever you have Guild Wars 2 installed.
  • After the closing quotation marks in this line put a space and then add -repair
It will look like this but with your GW2 install location:
    “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” -repair
  • Hit OK after making this change.
  • Run this repair shortcut. Your game will run through a repair cycle and fix any damaged files it finds.
  • After it runs through, start the game using the normal GW2 game shortcut (not the repair shortcut) and see if the issue persists.

Light Up The Darkness needs a title...

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

More titles would be nice.
I completed the Emergency Response Hero achievement; the one where you complete 5,000 Dynamic Events (those things that are the “bread and butter” of GW2). It would have been very nice to have earned a title to wear with pride as it would display my adventuring nature.

Also, where is the 10,000 Dynamic Events Completed achievement? Or 9,001 Dynamic Events Completed achievement (aka: Over 9000)? So many possibilities, and there is almost no utilization of this reward system or creativity in the existing titles. I hope that will change in the future.

Weapon Skins Going away!!

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/incredible-new-items-in-the-gem-store-4/

There’s your official announce.

They’re not permanently gone (probably) , but they will be off the vendor for quite a while. Long enough i wouldn’t even hazard a guess at a bring-back date.

Like any store, we’ll be regularly rotating out sets that are out of season or not popular to keep the vendor from overloading too many tabs.

Perhaps tab space would not be an issue if the interface for the merchant were redesigned to one that is more organized and user-friendly, in addition to being designed with future releases in mind.

Here is one quick mock-up of an enhanced dialogue with the Black Lion Weapons Specialist.

  • Selecting the ‘list’ icon goes to the next page where the skin sets are listed.
  • Skins added in the future can be amended to the list as well as including a ‘Show me more…’ dialogue option when more skins are added than can fit on a single page.
  • Selecting a weapon set opens up the usual merchant interface for just the selected weapon set.
    • Original dialogue window with skins listed does not get dismissed upon a selection.
    • Clicking another weapon set in the NPC dialogue window will replace an existing weapon set merchant window with the newly selected set’s merchant window.
  • Tickets are scanned for when interaction with the NPC is initiated. If a ticket for a specific, discontinued item is detected then that specific weapon set will be listed on the weapon set list screen.

Not very much new code would be needed as there are areas where this code already exists – it would just need to be copied over. Graphics, UI and other teams/departments only have a few minutes of work to add their elements to the interface.

Look toward the future and plan for it, please.
Falling back on justifying their removal as there not being enough room for more tabs in the NPC interface does not solve the problem…unless there is no problem and you actually desire the weapon sets to be removed instead of correcting the interface to allow these and future sets to remain available.

There are ways to continue offering all released weapon sets forever, this one I depict is less than an hour of combined work for maybe 5 employees (programming, graphics, localization, other?). Please consider offering all released sets for the duration of the game’s life.

We all experience removal of temporary content far too often as it is, please do not extend this removal to once-permanent content as well.

Queensdale myster

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

There’s a roaming Priory girl in Malchor’s Leap who goes from dark-skinned, short black hair to fair-skinned, waist-reaching brown hair on a daily basis, and vice versa.

@Stin: I’m offended those clothes are still not wearable by players. Female noblewomen NPCs have it, even the Orrian zombie ladies have it, but not the players. >.<

Same goes for Countess Anise’s attire (minus the pants)… Y u no make it available to us, ANet!?

It makes me very sad indeed.
What also makes me sad is that these gloves are not available. They’re perfect medium armor, and especially for rangers as they primarily use bows. Tell me you wouldn’t want these.
Found on Kian [Repairs] at Trainer’s Terrace in the Village of Shaemoor in Queensdale. She also has a nice top on that would be perfect for players into role playing.

All of these great clothes and armors already designed and in the game…yet off limits to players for absolutely no good reason. Honestly, I don’t know how many more illogical and saddening disappointments I can stand.

…le sigh…

Headaches: lighting?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Light Adaptation, Ambient Occlusion, and the other new AA graphics options were not implemented for the first BWE and stress tests, but were for the previous BWE2 and this BWE3.

As you did not experience this problem in VB during the first BWE, and only in VB during BWE2 and 3, it is possible that one or both of these graphics options is the cause for the lighting in Verdant Brink to appear differently and painfully for you now.

Try to disable Light Adaptation and/or Ambient Occlusion and see if it helps.

Add more Armor Skins, Weapon Skins.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Myself and a slew of others have been requesting armor and weapon skins to be added to the gem store to buy for at least 4-5 months, though I’ve also seen some people politely requesting since week 1 of launch.
Don’t hold your breath :\
6 months later and there is still a huge opened seam across the abdomen of several of my female characters. Some of them the seam was “fixed” in the front simply by them moving the seam to the lower back of the models. New armor skins won’t matter much to the appearance of my characters when their torsos are floating above their waists. :\

This isn’t the best shot I have of the seam, but it shows my point. It’s much, much worse on my Sylvari females.

Again, it would be extremely awesome to have some gem store skins made available for armor and weapons. I have 8 characters myself, and can easily grab a few more slots for new characters that I’d be keen to outfit with new styles. I have seen some people with 30+ characters (yes, over thirty) so I know you and I are not alone in wanting some more choices in their appearances. But, don’t hold your breath. :\

Can Sylvari have siblings?

in Sylvari

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Depending on how you look at it, all sylvari born from the same tree could be siblings.

Or perhaps it is more of a “batch” type of situation where all sylvari born from the same batch are siblings. Though, what dictates when a new batch is started or ends?

Most likely, sylvari “born” in the same cycle on the same day may be the closest to what they might use to determine sibling status, if they have the concept of sibling/non-sibling at all.

Kultakorppi.4769 showed photos of their female sylvari with her male ‘podtwin’.
I’m not sure of what their criteria was to determine their being podtwins.

Are sylvari birthed from pods? I honestly have not looked to find out before, but during creation the cinematic does seem to show the character unawakened inside of a chrysalis.

  • If so: Can there be more than one sylvari per pod? Or could two pods be grown into eachother like two human fetuses inside of one womb?
    • Are they individual pods or like a pea pod with multiple sylvari per pod?

Really haven’t thought about it before. Good question though.

Doubts-Professional skill slots after update

Profession skills were previously available from the moment of creation as far as I remember.

From what I can find (here and here), they are now locked until:

  • Profession skill F1 – Unlocked at level 4 (or 5)
  • Profession skill F2 – Unlocked at level 13
  • Profession skill F3 – Unlocked at level 22
  • Profession skill F4 – Unlocked at level 24

Yeah, Rangers cannot even call their pets back to them so they stop attacking everything until level 22…

Right now, GW2 is about 29.4 GB for its GW2.dat file (and I have HoT). I only have about 32 GB of space left on my computer… Do I actually need 50 more GB or is the 50 GB including at least the core game?

That is an excellent question. I’ll check for you.

And the answer is, the 50 GB is for everything, not in addition to what’s already in use. Thanks for asking — it’s worth knowing in case others wonder about it.

Crap… I don’t want to uninstall 50% of my other games. Can’t afford a larger SSD yet.

I was in the same situation as you and I recently encountered a need to replace a failing mechanical drive that had games on it. Ended up getting a 1 terabyte mechanical drive from Newegg for about $38 USD. It is working fantastic (so far).

Unfortunately that $39 had been what I managed to get together over the last year to get PoF when it releases. As I have still not been able to get HoT I was looking forward to getting PoF. (I likely will not be able to for a very long time now). I’m just glad system requirements haven’t skyrocketed as GW2 has run great on my Radeon HD 5750 1gig from 2010 with a case fan screwed into it and I don’t have an additional $100 for a GPU upgrade on top of the one expansion cost.

Anyway, if you are able to scrape $39 together (even if it takes until the end of the year and miss the launch), there were a few good 1TB drives on Newegg for about $39 and free shipping, or 2TB for like $48.
