Permanent Gathering Tools

I’m not asking AN to reduce their income or money sink, i’m sure they can find other ways to stay afloat. I’m simply asking for a better, less frustrating gathering tools.
OMG I don’t think that’s too much to ask in a modern game like gw2, is it? I mean in all the games i’ve played that have crafting, you can actually craft your own tools. I’m ok with buying them and then paying for them to be repaired, just don’t want bags full of them to cover every map i go to because each one uses different set and leaves me little room for anything else.
Even if they made it so you have to upgrade your gathering tools say every 10 lvls but only have one of each and permanently equipped, that would work too! And trust me, repairing the tools is still a good money sink as each time you use the tools they get damaged a little. They could also adjust the repair kits to cover tools as well and make some money on those too, as I’m sure most people would want to carry them in their bags, if they thought their tools may break.

Muted Dialogue in PS/LS cutscenes

Tiger Ashante.1792

Missing V/Overs are happening across the board. Just done numerous missions in Orr and every one of them had V/Overs missing at some point. It often happens when the cut scene dialogues first begins, but can happen any time. At first it appeared only the NPC’s V/Overs were missing, but then some happened with my character silent as well.

Did the Sentient Races mission on another character, choosing Haylek and V/Overs were missing in that mission too. This one was particularly bad. The sun champion segment i did hardly any V/Overs at all, including from my character.

Sorry, didn’t think screenshots would be of any use and didn’t take any, but I think the entire PS and Living story needs to be reviewed. Which reminds me, LS is also missing V/Overs as i’ve done quite a few lately, at least the final chapters. Don’t know about the earlier ones, but it seems other people above have found those have problems as well.

(sugg) Option for 3 guild bank permissions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

Guild bank has 3 categories that you have to upgrade individually, yet only 2 permissions: stash and trove. But there’s also deep cave, the very last upgrade and most expensive one and yet there’s no permission for it.

I would really like to have 3 separate permissions for each guild bank category, so i can allow my officers have access to the trove, while still preserving the deep cave just for leader to access and the stash that is accessed by anyone. It’s very frustrating not having all the option available, making the guild bank permissions management very difficult and tricky.

New Holiday Minis

I just bought the new 3 pack minis.

First disappointment, i was expecting a dolyak calf, u know the one that has the biggest picture on the gem shop. I didn’t get it. Had i known this was RNG based i wouldn’t have spent my gems on it. Don’t get me wrong, I love the 3 minis i got, the arctic fox, the fawn and the puppy….all cute, but i thought i would get the doylak. I didn’t get what i was expecting.

2nd disappointment (and i hope this is a bug that will get fixed asap) is that the new minis vanish when u go underwater. One of the few redeeming things i enjoy about minis is that they swim with me, as i spend fair amount of time underwater. if this is a bug plz fix it, if this is intended plz state that on this thread, so i know what is going on and if it is intended then i will be requesting a refund.

Thanks

Yea well, this forum is full of sarcasm and smart..s comments, which tells u much about the posters themselves.

I swear there are lot of ppl planted on this forum by competitor trying their hardest to bag this game. But no matter how hard they try they won’t spoil it for me, coz i make my own judgements about these things.

And Anet can laugh all the way to the bank as they would have had to buy the game to make their snide comments lol.

I don’t know if the OP means it or not, but despite some issues with the game, as far as i’m concerned it IS the best game out there atm and I have no doubt it will only get better.

This happens to me a lot as well especially lately, but as others have pointed out, it’s been going on for a long time, long b4 HoT came out. I also get really bad mouse lags or full lock ups as if the game doesn’t even recognize i have a mouse and sometimes, my mouse cursor completely disappears.

Worst Dungeon Experience Ever!

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Tiger Ashante.1792

I just came from Arah path 4 after spending some 5 hours in there and still leaving empty handed. This was the worst experience i’ve ever had in a game and in particular in any dungeon.
None of us had done this path b4 and so we thought it would be fun but it turned out into a nightmare. Having to fight that monstrosity Lupicus on every path is sheer madness itself but he was nothing compared to the stupidity of Simin encounter. We literally spent hours on her couldn’t figure out how to kill her. Some ppl quit so we replaced them with others who had supposedly done it b4 and even after giving us some guidance on how to do it, we couldn’t finish it. It was the dumbest, most boring boss encounter ever!
I stayed for so long as the girl who originally started the group needs path 4 to finish her dungeon master. Poor thing, she has literally spent 8 hours in there trying and i did my damnedest to help her but in the end, i finished up with a headache and so tired, i couldn’t carry on and had to leave her in there. She was all alone, was still there some time after i had gone, no doubt trying to form another group. I felt bad leaving her but i couldn’t take the stupidity of the whole thing any longer.

How is a person who’s never done this b4 supposed to actually do it? What exactly did the devs think of when they created this moronic scenario? That it’s going to be fun? Challenging? Well its none of those. The only thing it left me feeling is totally annoyed and angry that i wasted all that time in there. Simin wasn’t challenging at all, the whole thing was totally stupid. You get her to 50% health, she disappears and heals then reappears…the whole infinite cycle is just that same thing that goes on and on and on and on ad nasueum. Really, REALLY disappointed.

To add insult to injury, i had gotten 4 blue bags during the run. These bags hold 3 arah tokens, some karma and a silver or 2. When i got back to town went to open my blue bags and there’s only 1 left in my inventory. I know what some may say, you must have opened them but if i did i would have those tokens still in my bag and no, i did not open them, they simply disappeared from my bags. And no, my bags weren’t full either. So is this how you reward your players? Even the paltry rewards you get for such a gigantic effort, you make them vanish? Are they on a timer or something, so if you don’t open them within certain time they disappear? Or is this yet another bug and we just have to choke it up?

Well that really made me mad, because I need those tokens for Bifrost. Another 150 and losing those bags was the last straw. I don’t think i’ll bother with it any more. Screw Arah. Screw Legendary Weapon and Screw your friggin dungeons!

Story/Lore is accessible by reading books.
You’re supposed to be a hero, someone who knows how to do things, and knows how to fight.
Otherwise Rytlock would probably just get a villager to do the work instead of you.

A game without a challenge is an extremely boring game.

It’s hard to feel heroic when you’re treated like a football. There’s nothing heroic about that, nor challenging, just annoying.

What's Missing from Material Storage?

Tiger Ashante.1792

I think most things have been listed and i agree with the materials being stored and perhaps what i’m about to suggest has also been suggested already but this thread is huge so not gonna read it all

The only thing i would suggest (in case it hasn’t been mentioned) is to also add those lumber cores that are used in making various tree decorations, ones we get randomly from gathering wood, like:

Ascalon Timber Core
Coastal Timber core
Krytan Tiber Core etc
I have a bank row full of these that i’m having to keep until i get other materials to make the decorations…and
various other similar components like the feather one, as well as some plant types. Sorry can’t be more specific, not in the game atm to get the right terminology but i’m sure you guys know what i mean.

On a side note, can’t wait for some of these things to leave my bank lol. Great idea to put this forward and so pleased you guys are working on this. Thank you very much and keep up the good work.

But the OP was saying guild chat should be open for him/her to use, and if it were open for him/her to use it would be open for the rest of his/her guild as well and thus guild chat would not in fact be empty.

He’s right, sharing what we see could make for a lot of good word of mouth for the class (with the opposite also true to be fair)

Revenants can’t represent guilds, because then they’d be able to place items in guild banks, which would circumvent their current “No Trading Post/Mail” restrictions to keep them from moving items from their soon-to-be-deleted inventories into the wide game world beyond.

It’s something they might work on in the future, but right now that’s why you can’t represent a guild.

lol thats an absolutely terrible excuse. no rewards, no progression, no guild. Its like every reason for playing the game is removed.

Yea, i kinda felt lost as to what to do with the new Rev i created. Wondered through few maps for a bit, played around with the new skills/traits, but felt it pointless running around the same world we have traipsed through for the past 3 years, unable to keep anything if we kill mobs, or gather mats, see if any guildies are on etc, no progress of any kind gave me a feeling of futility lol.

Proposed change to repair NPC

Personally, I’ve always felt the repair NPCS were totally unnecessary, even when u used to have to pay for repairs. They should get rid of them and simply add a repair tab to all merchants. That way, whenever u sell stuff, you can also repair your armor at the same NPC.

Top 5 things to fix

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

1. Targeting. Although (for all those that aren’t aware) at least you don’t have to join party anymore to target. You can now solo target in the same way as you do when in a party. Although not mentioned, that was added in the last patch, which is a great start, but targeting still needs more work imo.

2. Definitely camera, it’s horrendous especially in tricky JP’s which i find hard as it is, camera makes them next to impossible for me.

3. TP search. specifically finding appropriate armor by type ie; Light, Med. Heavy. There are others but those are the most important imo.

4. Crafting category breakdown by tiers where each tier only lists relevant materials and recipes for that tier. I open my crafting panel noways and close it. it’s just one huge list all lumped together.
I would also like to see better description of recipes so when you look at an inscription for eg or any crafting component for that matter, it indicates character lvl range that can use the gear crafted from those items.

5. There’s more, but my No. 5 is the pet control. Although there’s been some improvements, ability for Ranger to hide their pet and have it stay hidden is really well overdue.
I would also like to see my flesh golem not die when my ankles dip into water (most frustrating aspect of being an MM necro) then have to wait for CD. Game is full of little dips like that in the world and very often unavoidable to cross, this really needs to be addressed. I never understood why flesh golem could not be made to go underwater. My necro has 1 elite skill for u/water, which as a minion master, I never, ever use at it kills off all my minions! Give us something useful plz, or at least give our flesh golem ability to swim.

Thank you.

Guild Issues (venting anger).

Tiger Ashante.1792

i actually think it is better if you can get people to care about ur guild because they care about it and not because they mechanically have to (this guild or the highway buddy)

Yeah sounds great on paper, have u tried it?

also i think if they take all the incentives of going to towns out of the game (i.e. trading post, crafting stations) that would end up being bad for the game
people would have less to no reason to go to towns, newbies would enter them and worry the game is dead and perhaps be turned off because of it

Really? You think that’s the reason behind it? You don’t think the only reason they don’t add those services to Guild Halls is b/c they want to sell their Airshp and Royal Terrace passes? I mean if u had those conveniences in Guild Hall, who would need those passes?

Had they added those services to Guild Halls, spending 10s of thousands of materials and gold may actually have some worth. As is, Guild Halls are basically useless, most ppl don’t even bother going there. The massive mats and gold sinks gets u virtually nothing for your efforts, it’s a meaningless system. Granted some bigger guilds who do have lots of members donating and maxing out the guild hall, may have some minor benefits but really, for most part, its a useless system benefiting no one, other than looking pretty.

Awesome news btw getting PS restored, it was terribly disjointed last time i played through it. It’s also good to hear you’re moving toward giving solo options for Arah. It would be even better to have this option for all dungeons. An option to one day be able to reply PS, would be the ultimate awesomeness. But i disagree having your character reset to be able to do it, as suggested by someone above. With lvl downscaling there’s no need to go that drastic. Only the story need resetting not your character.

Pet AI issues-need fixing badly

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

Some of these issues have been there ever since i can remember, but it’s totally ridiculous they are still here this far into the game. Please, for the love of god, do something to fix these pet AI issues, they’re extremely bothersome and ruin gameplay whenever they occur.

Ranger underwater pets, do not attack Orrian fish or urchins. They will stay in their poison getting hit till they die, completely ignoring them. Yet above water, the pets will attack the Orrian fish, so this problem seems to be reserved for underwater. I sometimes use same pet for underwater and land, such as reef drake, and its weird to see him ignore Orrian fish underwater, yet fight it on land. There are also many environmental objects that pets won’t attack.

I don’t think i need to mention how badly necro minions are broken, in particular flesh golem and shade. This has been going on at least since April last year and nothing has changed. I even swapped one of the minion related traits as some ppl suggested in the past that it supposed to help, but although at first it seemed to work, its back to square one and the minions still stand there while ur getting smashed. I generally praise and defend this game 99% of the time, but this is really shameful in my eyes and needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

Hearing my Revenant constantly saying “May Lyssa confound you!” is extremely irritating. I don’t even do anything, just running normally, no skills, no fights, nothing and every once in a while you hear him say that for no apparent reason.

Heh u think that’s bad, my warrior on my 2nd acct, has been saying for almost a year now, “adrenalin full” in Asuran male voice, she’s a human female. As u can imagine, warrior’s adrenalin fills rather often and it grates so bad on my brain and breaks my immersion that i’ve basically stopped playing my warrior. I’ve reported it a long time ago and nothing has been done about it.

To top it off, she now also says “may lyssa confound you” all the time, giving me a double reason not to play her. It’s almost every time they add new dialogue to the game, they bug out all the classes commentary. It never used to be like that, but ever since they began HoT and particularly since they restored the PS, the the dialogues not just for NPC’s but our characters have become an annoying mess.

Isn't it interesting?

Tiger Ashante.1792

Honestly, I’ve played this game like 1500+ hours and I’ve not once complained about the loot. I never think about it as I’m playing the game, if it drops it drops. And you know, if you actually don’t think about it, it’s always a nice surprise when you do get something.
I found even in gw1, when i was after a particular item, the more i wanted it the less chance i seem to have getting it. The moment i stopped thinking about it and just played the game, the drops seem to come. I find the same in gw2. It could be just a state of mind.
It’s like if you sit there watching the grass grow, nothing is happening, but if you forget about it and go have some fun doing other things, when you look at the grass again, voila its ready for mowing hehe.
What I’m trying to say, is if you want something really bad and you focus all your thoughts on it, the more you think about it the slower it seems to be happening.

Electromagnetic-Descender Glider Feedback [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

I haven’t bought Electro-Magnetic glider, as to me it does not look like a glider. In my view, gilder is a gentle, peaceful way to travel, but this glider flashing with lighting and tendrils extending so far from the body, it defies that feeling and they hurt my eyes, especially when there’s a bunch of ppl flying in front of you.

This became especially evident when I was doing TD meta a short while ago and there was like 6 or more ppl with this glider. They were all flying in front of me and there was so much visual noise and lightning, the tendrils were spread out across my entire FOV and i couldn’t see where i was going. If there was at least something else there to soften the effect of all them flashing lights, like for eg some kind of semi-transparent webbing and it actually connected to body of the user, it would look less weird to me and seem more like a glider.

Sadly I dislike HoT! (Spoilers)

Agree with some points, like the story pacing being way off and acts not being meaningful in the lead up to a dragon kill.

Anet should never have taken progress away from small guilds. It was a bad idea that shouldnt have been allowed to happen.

I disagree with most others
Saying the jungle is too hard is subjective. I enjoy the jungle and dont find it hard really at all. I think other maps are boring as they are too easy and make it pointless to even bother using half of your skills. The jungle is a nice refreshing change.

My argument is; casual players who dont want to improve their skills and dont like a challenge have all of core tyria maps to play in. Other players like me have HOT maps only. So HOT maps should not be nerfed. If you really want to find it easier to move around the jungle, then practice and improve your own skills. If you dont want to do that, stick to core tyria maps. You can still enjoy all the elite specializations and tyria masteries there.

The hero points I am split on. I dont think having hero points with champs which require 2-3 people is terrible in itself. You can unlock all your traits and skills without doing a single champion hero point and its nice to have some ‘mini-boss’ style challenges. However having them required for map completion may create a problem in the future regarding completing them once no1 is interested anymore and that does worry me abit.

Naviagtion of maps i also disagree with you on. It hasnt been that much of a problem to me. Again it seems to be subjective. They were hard at first but after a bit exploration and getting used to the routes, it became way easier, even on tangled depths. I think its too early to tell whether they are overly complex as many players havnt spent enough time in the maps yet to become accustomed to them.I dont think maps should be really easy to navigate as soon as you arrive in them the first time, that ruins exploration.

I was not suggesting that HoT is too hard per se, what i was saying is that its extremely frustrating and and artificially difficult as a result. There’s a difference. They made the jungle too crazily complicated. I enjoy certain amount of complexity too, but not the extent where it takes me hours to find a single HP and on top of that, gated behind a big-zerg-events succeeding over which u have no control.

Rytlock Ritual End Fight

Tiger Ashante.1792

I don’t know if this fight has been buffed or it’s bugged or what, but i cannot do it on my mesmer. I’ve already completed this on the first day on my ranger, it didn’t seem too bad, even with trying to figure out what i had to do and did it in a reasonable time. But today, I spent an hour or more with my mesmer trying and finally gave up in frustration

The ghosts that feed Barradin just keep spawning. No sooner had i killed one, then trying to get in range of the statue do dmg it, i get this annoying , repetitive (like a scratched record) message from Rytlock to stop him again, while he just stands there doing nothing.

My clones are useless, constantly being cc’d just as I am, so even when i try to shatter them on the ghost, they cannot reach him in time as they’ve been slowed down by endless freeze and what not.

Meanwhile i have 2 useless npc’s that can’t kill even one ghost between them that are crippling me and setting me on fire, while I’m trying to intercept these mindless ghosts.

How is this challenging? Turning my character into a football, that’s constantly and I mean constantly being bombarded with cc’s. Knocked down every few seconds by a stupid orb that spawns under me just as I’m about to cast a skill, interruping me and if that isn’t enough, add fear turrets all over the room (of all things, which btw i don’t remember seeing the first time i did this) that keep fearing me into walls and getting me stuck there.

But wait, there’s more. How about we get the statue to knock you down every few seconds as well, hit u with a freeze that reaches all the way where the ghost spawns right across the room and completely disable your skills along the way!

Still not enough though, so why don’t we add falling ceiling all over the room and get that to knock them down as well. Surely all these things combined, will make it next to impossible to intercept the feeding ghost, which then reaches the statue, feeds it and heals it, prolonging the whole encounter beyond joke.

This fight as it stands now is worse even than Fort Salma and that was a lot of garbage! But hey, congrats, you’ve succeeded in frustrating me to a point where I’ve abandoned the quest and I never do that before and for that, you can pat yourselves on the back.

Really, really disappointed.

Why can't Non-HoT users Decorate their Halls?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

I don’t really understand why people are complaining about this? Guild halls are a part of the expansion, HoT— thus if you want all the features that accompany them, you have to purchase HoT. It seems pretty simple to me.

Nobody “needs” guild halls, and nobody is going to die without access to their features. Complaining how lame it is that a company doesn’t just give them stuff for free (when it’s advertised as part of a paid product) seems very childish to me.

It works no differently than how it does in real life— unless said otherwise, if you want a product, you pay for it. No, your fun will not be ruined without this QoL/cosmetic feature… and if it is, then I would seriously consider rethinking your mentality.

Well perhaps i can clarify.

1stly, buffs were not part of the expansion. They were there from launch of the game and available to every member well b4 HoT came out in a form of banners. We…I worked my butt off to earn influence to unlock those banners. Come HoT, they took them away, repackaged them into expansion and forced us…me to donate/spend 1000’s upon 1000’s of every material under the sun and 1000’s of gold to unlock them again! And to top it off, they denied them to members who didn’t own HoT.

2ndly, they further locked them behind scribing, which is only available to HoT owners, which is fair enough, but now we have to lvl up scribing to even be able to make them. Is the picture clearer now?

One does not need guild halls you say, but consider this, they’ve locked all those benefits we used have and have already paid for/worked for behind a pay wall that is guild hall and HoT. If you don’t own a guild hall and u don’t grind for mats/gold till ur eyes bleed to unlock all them features again, you got nothing to offer ur members, nothing! There’s no benefit whatsoever for them to be in ur guild.

And don’t even get me started on how they shafted small guilds with advent of HoT, after promising not to leave them behind. Well we all know how that went, or perhaps there isn’t many left to know. Small guilds were the backbone of this community and many of them have long departed and i think the game is paying the price for it now in a major way.

This is a horrible boss fight!

I’m supposed to fight the thing alone? Minions coming from all directions and the dogs completely ignoring me and my Mesmer’s clones and just going after the minions that often die just b4 they reach the boss. And i don’t know what bubbles ppl above are talking about, I’ve seen no bubbles only insane rings of crap flying everywhere from the boss.

I tried to grab the dogs’ aggro by hopping from one to another, but they just ignore me till they kill the minions then turn on me. These dogs hit like a truck, each hit takes 1/3 of my life.

I thought Aerin fight was boring and annoying but this takes the cake.

Died twice now, first time after returning, the boss still remained damaged a little after about half an hour of going it at it, the 2nd time, when i got back in range he had fully reset. How annoying to spawn u so faraway from the boss fight, so that he would reset b4 you get back!

Well that did it for me. I’m not gonna bother with it, it’s too boring and frustrating and takes waaaaayyyy too long.

And yea, Kas Marj are nowhere to be seen gg.

It’s a shame that this fight ruins for the most part a great story so far, i really don’t know what they’ve thinking with this fight, it’s totally unfun!

you are advocating the removal of a gold sink. you have to explain why the removal of said gold is benificial to the economy.

In my proposal the gold sink is having to repair tools, as suggested, that’s good enough imo. If it’s good enough in other games it should be here too. And as to why it’s beneficial, perhaps removing the nuisance factor? Saving space? And ultimately, simply a quality of life convenience.

Rytlock Ritual End Fight

in Living World

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Again, it’s not about difficulty… it’s about whether the fight is enjoyable. For some people, difficult is enjoyable. For some, a fight is enjoyable if it feels difficult (even though it isn’t that hard). For some, a fight is enjoyable if it’s a relaxing breeze.

But none of these have to do with the enjoyability of a fight’s mechanics. A dev can write in code that spawns a bubble and you have to get into that bubble within 5 seconds or you die. Or a dev can code the same bubble and give you 2 minutes to get inside it or you die. Huge difference in difficulty, but the mechanic is the same – and it’s a potentially annoying mechanic, or an enjoyable one that requires some skill, depending on how you look at it.

This ego-stroking “this isn’t hard” prattle doesn’t serve any purpose other than satisfying the person who says it. Nor do proclamations of a fight being “hard” with little explanation as to why – and I’ve seen both in this thread.

There is nothing productive to be gained from taking a potentially complex topic on the design of a fight and simplifying it into a kittening match about its apparent difficulty level.

Kittens, man… kittens everywhere.

Thank you, I appreciate your comment, you are among the few in this thread that get what I was trying to say.

I’m having to store my blade shards in my bank i get from home instance.

Is there going to be any use for them other than making the back piece or merchant being re-added to the game? I don’t know what to do with them, do i destroy them? I already got my back piece and don’t intend to make another, so please give an idea what’s going on with them.

Thanks.

Edit: i’ve amended the title and turned into a suggestion to add blade shards to
wallet. Hope it’s not too late.
Plz devs if at all possible, make this happen.
Thanks again.

Edit2: Corrected title for typing errors

Completely Pointless Revamps?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Maybe someone can help me out here, because I just don’t understand this “feature” patch.

Since the game launched 2 years ago, it was touted as having a great leveling system, where you could go anywhere, didn’t have to do quests and could level doing pretty much anything.

The game has always had one major complaint, the lack of endgame content. There were no raids, no new areas, no endgame progression, and no new ingame skins being released.

These two things have been pretty much the two constants of the game since launch… leveling good… endgame bad…

Yet we now have spent the last 2 “feature” patches revamping the leveling system from the ground up and not introducing a single bit of endgame. I literally just spent the last 20 minutes looking for a SINGLE thread that said they should revamp leveling and I couldn’t find one person complaining about it. The biggest complaint related to leveling I could find was to undo the changes to leveling the last “feature” patch brought.

So what exactly is the point of revamping the only part of the game people almost unanimously loved and completely ignoring the areas of the game people think need the most work? It just seems like a terrible business strategy to me.

I don’t think any update to a game is “pointless” especially a better guide for new players. Don’t be so selfish!

I remember way back reading many reviews of gw2 and many posts all over the internet how gw2 doesn’t introduce and teach their new players how to play, or guide them through the game.

Sure, this feature may be late in coming, but it’s better late than never. You also got to bear in mind the game is still very new in China, where this feature was introduced, so it makes sense to put it in for us too.

To you and me, GW2 may seem easy to figure out now, but this game is so different to many others out there, to new players not familiar with it, it may appear very strange and directionless. So a good solid intro/guide is always a good thing, especially an optional one, so older players can disable this feature.

Ultimately, i really don’t see why you had to complain about it.

Yea not a fan of downscaling myself. Much prefer to play at my level, after all I earned it. I’m not interested in taking anyones kills/bosses etc, just want to be able to move freely through lower maps I haven’t explored thoroughly without having to fight at all.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Even though (like many others) I’ve disliked the new dailies since day one, I’ve not said much about them until now. I wanted to give them a really good run b4 i gave my feedback on them. I must say, I hate them more than ever! Compared to the old system, they’re terrible. Some, rare days, they’re bearable, but most days they’re horrible.

Why is it that 90% of the time, the new dailies are in noob zones, it’s so boring i can barely bring myself to do them any more. Don’t get me wrong, i love the noob zones and used to go them occasionally, but now, it’s like every day, do shadow behemont, do frozen maw, do fire ele, do jungle wurm, do events in queensdale, do events in metrica province, do events in wayfarer foothills etc, etc, ad nauseaum. Really? Why? Who thought this would be good for the game?

Every time i’ve gone to these zones to do whatever the daily is, it’s an utter zergfest regardless of the time of day. I’ve been lvling some new chars and it’s impossible to get credit for events or event to hit anything. Millions of bearbow rangers, shoot everything from mile away and as a new char all u do is run around like a headless chook, hoping to hit something.. And as a melee? forget it! even ranged u don’t stand a chance. I ask again, why is it that 90% of daily content is in noob zones? not even in 2nd zones but the very first noob zones. It’s seriously mindless and kittened to be forcing lvl 80 chars to keep doing these noob zones over and over and over day in and day out.

The other thing that i absolutely hate about theses new dailies, is how we are forced to gather 4 nodes of wood, or 4 nodes of plants or 4 nodes ore etc. So me having 3 trees in my home instance for which i payed $10 of real money and which always only give me 3 hits at these nodes and never ever an extra one, i’m still forced to pay WP to go to some map just to get 1 log? I mean really? I have to assume this was done deliberately to force people to go foraging or w/ever, but was this aggravation of your playerbase really necessary?

Solution, return some of the old daily options. Make the events region based. For maxed characters have them do bosses in maps lvl 60+. combine the gathering like it was in the old dailies, ie gather 20 of whatever in whatever region. Add more than 4 choices per category and for god sake, stop forcing my lvl 80’s to noob zones, it’s insulting. Ur making me hate them and that’s a shame b/c as i said, i normally enjoy these zones.

It’s hard to pick one, i got a few, but one that’s been driving me crazy for a long time now, is when they hide away ur mini at events or when ur gliding and then never un-hide it.

Oddly, this only happens to my main acct that owns HoT, never on my 2nd acct that doesn’t. Ofc, gliding wouldn’t affect my 2nd acct since i don’t have the expansion on it, but even when minis are hidden at events, they always pop back up on this acct.

Sadly I dislike HoT! (Spoilers)

Yea i got some of my skills bound to my mouse like dodge and nearest targeting etc, but i don’t have a large number of buttons on my mouse so yea its limited that way, but maybe one of these days i’ll be able to afford one of those gaming ones if my fingers don’t fall off by then lol.

Has gathering animation changed/lenghtened?

I could used to hit F while my char was mining a rich node and when finishing the first 3 hits, would continue to mine. This made the process somewhat seamless. Now, after the 3 hits, i have to wait for my char to completely stop mining, then go into idle animation and only then hitting F or clicking the node works. This makes the process rather tedious and longer and b/c i was used to the previous system, i end up clicking lot more than i should.

2 accounts, 1 pc and WinAuth.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

Just logged into my 2nd acc to find the unmoveable “join SMS” or “remind me later”
I’m already using WinAuth for my main account and had no plans to upgrade to the authenticator on my 2nd account. (yes, call me stupid but that’s the way it is)
Now, to stop seeing this stinking “click remind me later” every stinking time I log onto my 2nd account I’m going to have to sign up for the authenticator on that account as well.

Now take note here, I DO NOT OWN A MOBILE PHONE (nor do I wish to) and also, I DO NOT WANT to give my house land line to anyone. Apparently anet won’t sell my number but we all know how that always ends don’t we (ANYONE CAN get hacked) so I’m not taking the chance.
(and don’t give the “using FaceBork or Spewgle” because I don’t use Spewgle Marketplace (obviously not having a mobile phone) and Facebork has never had my (old) mobile or landline number)

So, my only option is to use WinAuth for my 2nd acc as well.

The problem I am wondering about is this:

Will this corrupt the link between my main account and WinAuth
or:
will using WinAuth for a 2nd code cause no problems between the two alternate account codes I’ll have? you know the one if you use WinAuth, that massive WSDFER78FRG6JDDKFKG code (and no, that isn’t my code, obviously)

Anyone able to answer this?

Thanks for reading and for any advice if you can

Rich.

I’m in the same situation as you and i just fixed my alt acct using WinAuth with no problem. In WinAuth where it says add, just add gw2 again but give it a different name (for eg: one is Guild Wars 2, the 2nd is GW2) and write down your code & save it, noting for which acct it is, just as TJ suggested above and you should be right.

GW2 Image Share

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

I’ve been pondering an idea of an image share for gw2 since launch, but before I make a suggestion for it, I would like to see if the community is interested in it. If however the moderators feel it should go into suggestion sub forum right away then please feel free to move it.

I have a good idea how this image share should be laid out and how it should work, but not how it would be implemented lol.

Anyway, I thought it would be nice if Anet created an Image Share category on their official website with nice backgrounds, similar to their Living Sstory promotion pages, where gw2 players could upload their images and share their experiences of the game. This could then be expanded to include things such image ratings, top 100 and sub-categories such as comedy, aesthetics, character shots etc.

So as not to grief other fellow players who upload their images, the rating should be implemented in a way, if you like an image, you give it thumbs up, if not then don’t rate it, but there would be no negative ratings.

Each image can only be rated once ofc and not by the owner of the image and there should be a comment box available so people can express why they liked the image etc. Those images that get the highest ratings would then go into the top 100.

To keep it fresh and interesting and to give everyone a fair go, the top 100 should rotate every 4-5 week.

So after 4-5 weeks of hitting the top 100, your image starts to get phased out according to the date it received its first rating, until eventually, it would leave the top 100 all together, opening room for a fresh batch. However, each new rating an image receives, it would extend its duration in the top 100 by 1 day. So those images that get the highest ratings, could remain in the top 100 well beyond the 4-5 week rotation.

Later, if the images share really takes off, this same system could be split up and expanded into those sub-categories as mentioned above. So you could have top 100 comedy, aesthetics, character shots and so on.

I think with the game being almost 1 year old, I’m sure there would be plenty of players with lots of good images to share. I think something like this would greatly enhance the gw2 community and promote its creativity. It could be a sort of hub where people can meet, make friends and share their experiences through images.

Please express your views if you like/dislike the idea.
Thanks for reading.

Yeah I fully agree, I mean don’t get me wrong, like I said, I like the beauty of GW2 zones a lot. But, in all it’s beauty (to me) it lacks character. To me this is mostly due to lighting and dynamic weather, mostly lighting tbh. the clear nights, the always overly lit caverns.

It’s sort of like some of the art made by Rembrant, see he isn’t so famous for what he painted, nor his brush strokes. His most renounced quality in this paintings is the use of light. Light sets the mood, or the lack of light, a bright day will make you happy, while I grey one makes you grumpy. A clear night with a full moon will feel fresh, while a poorly lit night will make it feel damp and cold. A cavern with some flickering torches gives a whole different mood than an overly lit subway entry.

Same things happen with weather, a heavy snowstorm will create a bit of claustrophobia, it feels like a struggle. A mild snow creates anticipation, and some what of a joy (for snowball fights, building snowballs, hot choco and a warm fire place).

These are things I would call ‘character’, as they are character building circumstances. So I have nothing against the beauty of Tyria as it is now, and I thoroughly enjoy it. What I do miss, is the icing on the cake, the character, those things that make a pixelated world (even in a painterly style) feel like almost real. Where the lack of light leaves room for the imagination, or where an abundance of light creates a true focus point (though I did see these).

With this new dust storm area (as long as they are dynamic), we do get an area that has more character. That does leave room for imagination, or at least anticipation. And thus, hopefully the responses will be overly positive, so that Anet will start to touch up Tyria with this in mind…

You can control lighting to an extent with gamma slider. I find some caves (particularly at night) quite dark and find myself having to adjust gamma to see where i’m going, this is mostly in case of JP’s and ofc it depends how deep in a cave I am. Perhaps your gamma is too high? I usually keep mine around 95 points. But really, they need add a lot more sliders to gw2 to control lighting such as background, ambient, brightness etc and not just rely on gamma. And yea nights need some adjustment too.

I would also have to agree about the dynamic weather. One of the biggest things i miss in this game is dramatic weather changes. I mean I play Lotro, an 8 year old game and it has an amazing weather effects. Lightning storms, thunderstorms, heavy rain that last for hours on end, soft rain with sunrays shining thru, snow storms/blizzards etc. So yea, i really hope Anet starts to add those aspects to gw2, it would make traveling thru Tyria so much more immersive. I know there’s snow falling in some parts of Shiverpeaks and some rain u see occasionally in other places, but it’s not enough.

(Sugg) For Mini collection and TP search

Tiger Ashante.1792

Really love the new QoL added in the last patch, great work but I would like to see some additions for clarity sake. Not sure if some of these have already been suggested but here it goes anyway.

1) Add a label to mini description that shows (like in case of dyes) if you’ve already unlocked a particular mini. Now that minis are actually destroyed when added to the collection, this would greatly help one complete their collection and not buy the ones they already have.

2) Add a sorting to the mini collection. I know there’s a search, but you’d have to know the name of what ur searching for to begin with, so splitting the mini collection into some sort of categories (like dyes) would work wonders.

Thanks for reading and plz comment if like/dislike the idea.

They should be able to go in an update your status. When I made myself a storage guild I didn’t give myself permissions. I sent in a bug report asking to be given leader status. It did take some time, but eventually I represented in to it to check and I had all the permissions. So, obviously they can do it.

Good luck on getting your guild back, this must be very frustrating.

I’m not sure if i should be happy or sad about this. It is obvious then since they fixed your issue, they’re can help me as well and that makes me hopeful, but at the same time, I feel sad and confused why they haven’t done so.

Wouldn’t it be good idea to be able to drag item u want to sell (including stacked up ones) into the search window, then hit search button to bring up same type items on sale to compare the prices? This would would save you having to type up each individual item’s name you want to sell, some of which are very long and make the selling process tedious, especially if you have a few things to sell.

Search the Water for Castaways! Please Stop!

It’s no secret Frostgorge Sound is my fav map, it’s where i’ve been going for a long time to do my dailies, but a couple of events there: search for castaways and helping the quaggans in the near by village, are total immersion breakers due to their ridiculous fast turn around among other tings.

Even bigger immersion breaker is Many Stars, making his call-out to search for castaways every minute. Seriously, he’s so loud and even louder underwater that sometimes he startles me when i have my sound turned up.

This has bothered me for a long while and i kept hoping each update it would change, but so far it hasn’t and i’ve finally decided to say something. Lately, i’ve been resorting to muting my game while i do the event or avoid it completely, which is a shame as i actually enjoy it otherwise.

We really don’t need to be told to do something every minute. Once or twice during course of the event is sufficient. Plus it would be nice if u reduce the event timers, as no sooner have u finished the event, it starts again, making u feel like u’ve achieved nothing. Or at least have it trigger according to how many people are there in the immediate vicinity, as more often than not i’m the only one doing these events and they seem to be on perpetually.

Please, please don’t make me start hating Kodan as i adore them in general, including Many Stars, but he does drive me crazy with his call outs.
Thank you.

Mobs difficulty feedback [merged]

Tiger Ashante.1792

Questions of how challenging mobs are or are not aside (you want to discuss that, there are other threads waiting for your opinion) I can’t help but feel that there are simply too many of them! Mordrem tendrils are a particular pain in this regard, it seemed at some points that you couldn’t walk 5 feet without one of the things throwing little red circles at you! Somebody (probably several somebodies) at ArenaNet have worked kitten hard to create the jungle and I’d really like the chance to look at it! Fewer mobs with a lower respawn timer would be good … give us a chance to breathe and enjoy the environment! Make fights epic not annoying. I had enough of this sort of mob density in early (and arguably current) Orr thanks awfully … if I want to wade through endless mobs, I’ll head there.

Agreed, everywhere i went there was mobs everywhere, it was impossible to stand back and enjoy the scenery. with the having to watch every step due to difficult terrain and then being mobbed by mobs every second, how are we to appreciate this new zone?

tbh, i’m sick to death of fighting all the time. It would be nice to have some places where we had some more interesting non-combat stuff.

Key Ring or some such Item to hold keys

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

As mentioned by others above, a feature that’s been asked for for a long time, but so far ignored, yet they keep adding more keys. I realise they need to make money with bags/bank tabs etc. but i’m sure like myself, many ppl are maxed out on those. And it’s not a matter of that either, it’s more about the hassle of having to juggle keys between chars. With gw2 running full throttle on clock, timers for everything, wasting time switching chars, trying to remember who has what, is a pain. Fingers crossed they add this soon, it’s really badly needed.
