So in order for simple balance, the following change needs to happen for ascended and legendary weapons:

Either;

Two-handed weapons are given two infusion slots to compensate for using dual 1h items (or infusion on two handed weapons gaining +10 instead of +5)

OR

Only 1 one-handed weapon’s infusion may work.

Unless this is implemented then we will see an imbalance, particularly with fractals and dual wielders have a higher AR than two 1 handed weapons. I’m concerned this hasn’t been implemented, but if it is not it is highly imbalanced as hell.

This must happen to provide fairness in fractals. 5AR is often the difference between life and death at level 48. It adds up to a whole 6% per tick.

I strongly encourage ArenaNet developers to review and implement this change if it isn’t in the update. This is of crucial importance for fractals balance.

“Nightcapping” is completely relative to where you live. I’m from Australia, so that means players in EU prime or NA early morning are nightcapping.

Complaining about nightcapping is complaining that the entire world doesn’t live in one single timezone and operate on the same schedule. It’s blatantly kittened and arguing that there should be more or less points given or whatever your solution based on your timezone is blatantly childish and selfish. This kind of attitude is the self-centered “Me me me! The world revolves around me and mine!” attitude of children.

So my understanding is that the current digital deluxe edition owners/collector’s edition owner’s don’t get access to the new things in the heroic edition and the new version of the digital deluxe?

I’m not trying to be greedy but that seems a little unfair. We paid for our DDE/CE and got certain things, yet someone who pays for the exact same thing now, gets more? I wont exactly miss it either way, as I have no interest in the armour and can just do a fractal to get a bigger box.

Looking for an official response along with other players perspectives. Do you guys think it’s unfair or am I just looking at it wrong?

My point was not that they are actual avatars. I mained a Dervish in Guild Wars 1 and it’s the same concept. The character beseeches/prays to that god for powers and such and they are granted. We regularly see, in-game, the Gods doing work. Sure, not as much as we used to, but it happens. You can still /kneel at the shrine of Grenth in Lornar’s Pass and receive a boon.

Humans can still use magic. That should be proof enough, unless that gets retconned (I actually think it already has) too.

I understand that, but the principle remains. There is a clear cut, keen belief in the Gods. There are temples and shrines all throughout Divinity’s Reach and clear NPC dialogues all throughout the world about worship of the Gods.

As much as I hate her, Kormir was a human. 250 years, if we look at our world (which Anet often seems to do) is not long enough for something to come close to ‘myth’. Especially something of that significance.

I’ll ignore the ‘green-text’ and ‘chan reference, but to an extent I agree with what you’ve said. My issue is mainly that there was core parts of the lore that have been part of the series for over 5 years. FIVE. YEARS… and now ruined.

I was using the reverence of Gods as an example of how out of touch she is with the lore. To give a (possibly) better example, I’ll bring up the schools of Magic.

We have already found how the Blood_stone_ was formed and that it was split into different pieces because of Doric’s request. This has never been retconned until now. She has simple said “No, no. The Gods split the bloodstone for no reason at all. They just did it because. People just don’t pick a second profession because it takes time”

This ignores the fact that in the original Guild Wars you could LITERALLY learn a new profession in a manner of what I assume is days. Nightfall is a perfect example, along with Factions (Prophecies takes a little longer). Sure, with the rise of the dragons and a reduction of magic, it might take a little longer, but it can happen. Look at Guardians. They use Aggression and Protection. Elementalists use Destruction and Protection.

This whole interview is garbage and I refuse to accept it as cannon. I want the Guild Wars 1 writers back.

An alliance system is everything WvW needs right now.

You could also add “soft” alliances where players are assigned to automated alliances should they opt out. You could even do a system like the PvP hotjoin menus and custom arena type deals.

You get your base alliances and then you have your player made alliances.

I’m also going to touch on the subject of coverage. People are complaining about “night capping”. As an oceanic, this kind of comes across as stupid. I’m on Isle of Janthir, have been since beta. We have one of the largest non-T1 OCX communities. We’re still in T4. We’re rank 12. We’re getting beaten by servers with basically no oceanic coverage. It isn’t completely black and white. Just because you have a large OCX/SEA/EU base, doesn’t mean you’re going to steam-roll other servers.

Broken Match-Up System

Something has gone seriously wrong with ArenaNet’s match-up system lately. Just take a look at the attatched image.

We have:

Tier 1: Rank 1, Rank 3, Rank 4

This isn’t too bad. Essentially that’s tier 1 and 2 fighting.

Tier 2: Rank 6, Rank 5, Rank 2.

Look at the point difference. SoR has a 250k point lead. What the hell?
(Also, kudos to SoR for breaking 400k points. I didn’t realise this until Zikory pointed it out)

Tier 3: Rank 7, Rank 12, Rank 11.

This is getting to the point of insanity. You have a 5 rank gap between two servers. SoS is leading by 160k points!

Tier 4: Rank 14, Rank 9, Rank 8

Same as above. This is broken.

Tier 5 (my tier): Rank 10, Rank 15, Rank 17.

This is one of the biggest gaps. You have a SEVEN rank gap between servers and a FIVE rank gap between servers. It would be fine if it was NSP and IoJ and maybe another server, say DH maybe.

Tier 6: Rank 18, Rank 19, Rank 13.

Are you kidding?

Tier 7: Rank 20, Rank 22, Rank 24

The ONLY balanced tier. Look at their points. They’re all within a reasonable range of each other. I can’t speak for the players but it appears it was a decent match up with a challenge for all sides.

Tier 8: Rank 16, Rank 21, Rank 23.

Again, another stupidly large gap. This doesn’t make any sense.

Why are the current match-ups so broken? There is no competition at all. You’re either getting stomped or you’re stomping. It’s ridiculous.

The match ups SHOULD only have a maximum 3 rank difference between the highest and lowest server. Maybe 4 ranks depending on tier. We should be seeing servers who in their own right are in tier 3 fighting servers who are in tier 6. This doesn’t make sense.

Seriously? NSP and SBI fighting each other? It’s nuts!

ArenaNet needs to fix their match-up system. The randomization is great but it needs to be reasonable. Get it together ArenaNet

I couldn’t care either way what happens to the animation, though I imagine it took quite a bit of work so I’m not sure how willing they are to remove it. That said, I think functionality and usability should take precedence over visuals. After all, if the skill sucks then nobody will use it.

It just needs that initial AoE burst. I have no problem with a cooldown, though these can be augmented and reduced by adding a higher energy cost. I’d even go as far as saying 40 energy would be worth it on kitten cooldown to give that initial 3 stacks of stab. 3 stacks for 5 seconds would be pretty good. That way you can get a really good burst out and sustain the 3 stacks for a while, but it’s at a very high cost and obviously wont be permanent. I know that once you throw in boon duration it can be permanent, but this would be at the cost of using absolutely no other skills, other than auto-attack.

Just a thought on how it could be balanced.

Farming this event is intentionally halting the progress of other players and is not in the spirit of Guild Wars 2. It’s not acceptable and I encourage any and all players to do their best to complete the event. Don’t be part of the problem.

I have to agree with Kodiak. AoE, 3 stab for 5s ON CAST. Give the road pulsing swiftness and extend the length of the road to 600 units. Retain cast time or hell even bump it up.

The key is giving Revenant reliable stability, which atm it seriously doesn’t have in real world use.

Having the Revenant be extremely vulnerable to conditions AND crowd control is too much of a penalty to the class.

Also, threads like this just reinforce my attitude of “ping gear on entry” and “dps spec only”. Unless you want to take 40 minutes on CoF, you need to run high damage gear. If you’re trying to run kitten like clerics, you don’t understand the game mechanics. If you’re trying to fight every single enemy in the dungeon without skipping, well… you’re honestly wasting your time. In terms of bosses? There’s no right or wrong way, but there’s “effective” and “ineffective” ways. For example, Melee stacking lupi with a feedback at phase 2 is effective, standing around trying to range him is ineffective and often draws out the encounter, leading to wipes.

If you fail the puzzle you don’t get the rewards. It’s that simple.

It’s got nothing to do with failing it. The guild actually completes it. It just doesn’t give anyone the chance to catch up and get in once others have completed it.

I assume you guys haven’t done the puzzle yet.

It doesn’t quite work that way.

Yes it does. You’re supposed to do it as a guild.

  • Don’t start the puzzle until everyone is at the start and ready
  • Don’t enter the elevator until everyone is caught up (don’t press any of the buttons either!)
  • Keep four people standing on the buttons switches so everyone can get through
  • Don’t travel alone in the maze and get yourself killed in some random corner
  • Stragglers can port to the WP and go NW so a mesmer can port them to the beginning of the maze part

It’s really not that difficult and tons of guilds have successfully completed it with no issues.

Yes, that’s all well and good but that 1. Wastes time and 2. Shouldn’t even be needed.

If someone dies at the END from skritt or jumping or anything, they have to go to the START and do it all again. That’s not exactly fair play for a guild mission. You’d need to wait for at least 4 other people and hope they can get it done in time before the maze ends. If they get unlucky and there is like a minute left on the maze then they have to do the maze.

That’s not fair or fun. Both times I’ve done challenge there have been people in my guild (and yes, in one instance it was me) at least 5 people didn’t get the reward chest, despite getting upto the maze. Just because they didn’t walk in the room in time meant they didn’t get the reward. How is that fair?

If your guild gets to the end and you have participated in most of the puzzle you should get the reward. As I said earlier, it isn’t like rush where you still have a legitimate and fair chance to get the reward after it’s completed.

Also, those four people wont get rewards if they stay there.

Say a guild needs to organise better all you like, but if a single person dies and gets put back at the start, it’s not fair. A guild is left with a choice of “send more people back to help this person through, possibly screwing up the puzzle or making even more not get rewards” OR “just tell them bad luck and to try on their own”

That’s not in the spirit of being in a guild. That’s not fun.

This still hasn’t fixed the problem of Inspiring Reinforcement sucking.

Give it AoE stab on cast, maybe 3 stacks for 5 seconds. Retain or increase the cast/cost (maybe about an extra 5 energy and 2 – 5 seconds). Extend the road to maybe 600 units and give it pulsing swiftness of 1 – 2 seconds.

Honestly I think camping Mallyx is a waste.

It’s a 15% boost to stats. That’s literally huge. It’s somewhere around 350 – 400 power and nearly 150 ferocity for a full ascended Berserker spec. That’s an insane damage boost.

Hell assuming some basic stuff like full ascended berserker, a Co-eff of 1.0, an avg weapon str of 1000, 100% crit chance an attack is going to hit for 2105 in full berserker (2557 power, 214 Crit Damage)

With Embrace the Darkness you’re hitting 2534 damage. That’s a little over 20% extra damage.

This is assuming it’s taken into account BEFORE might, banners, etc. If it’s after then it could be even higher.

Unless you’re lacking a PS Warrior/Might Stacking Ele or a Guardian/Mesmer then Mallyx/Shiro is going to be the way to go. Hell Mallyx may even outdo Shiro depending on how much of a DPS increase quickness is going to be for the class.

Congrats on the position, buuuut…

I kind of feel like your WvW experience and post history isn’t exactly reflective of you being able to represent the WvW community or really be called a “specialist”. Whilst I’m sure you have a keen interest in WvW I feel like someone with more experience and a more active post history (you’ve made 3 – 4 posts in the WvW forum as far as I can see, the rest are mostly regarding builds, though this of course doesn’t factor in archived posts, I believe).

Compare this to the dungeon forum where our Specialist has placed in a Tournament, as well as being a dungeon forum regular and it feels a little… well… off.

That said, take the bitterness with a grain of salt. The WvW community has largely been ignored for a long time with only minor improvements and some “tournaments” (lol) so there’s a bit of resentment towards ANet and putting someone who is well… maybe less experienced than the wider WvW community as a “Specialist” doesn’t really help.

Anyways, best of luck.

So a few people have been throwing around math without doing it properly or showing the working. I’ve actually got a damage calculator that does this for me. I would attach it but the GW2 forums conveniently don’t allow .xls files. If you want to get the same results, just follow the GW2 damage calculations exactly. Final result I got at maxed might and blood lust, along with 5 boons in the build I linked was 14866 for reference.

We can only achieve numbers like that if, as someone put it before, the stars align.

The revenant would need to have:
20+ Might
20+ Bloodlust stacks
5+ boons
Fury
Have already had an attack blocked

You’d also need to be under 50% health.

The primary components are the amounts of might, the prior attack being blocked and you being under 50% hp.

If you throw perfect circumstances, so maximum might, boons, prior attack blocked, scholar runes, etc then yes, sure you can achieve a 15k hit with this, however the stars need to align and the Rev is running absolute full glass with 0 defences.

I’m by no means suggesting that Cruel Repercussions (not CoR) should be looked at, because this is where the bulk damage is coming from, but OP shouldn’t pretend getting hit for 10k+ is a super regular thing. It isn’t. As soon as you take away the block factor and the 20% while under 50% along with a bunch of the might, you drop down drastically to 6776, while still in a full glass build at max range.

I’m so glad they’re putting this in. It rewards players who don’t just COFCOFCOFCOFCOF.

Why should you get mass amounts of gold for mindlessly pressing 2 in a dungeon that takes 6 minutes, when I get much much less in a dungeon that actually requires a small amount of skill?

This update is actually rewarding players who take on harder content. If you’re crying about “CoF nerf” then you’re part of the problem with GW2.

Do other things in game, who knows, you might even enjoy it.

Fractals: Moss Agony Telegraph

So basically I think Mossman in the swamp fractals needs a better tell/build-up or whatever you personally call it on his agony projectile.

The lighting, size of Mossman, and size and speed of the projectile make it incredibly difficult to dodge. This isn’t exactly fair when you’re doing things like level 48 and his agony is a minimum of 18% per tick and will usually result in death if you aren’t at full health. If you have a guardian in the group, it’s even more difficult with their fire, but that’s just a profession mechanic and has problems across the board.

What I would suggest would be as follows:

1. Make him bigger. Mossman is too small for the amount of damage he can do.

2. Give his projectile a noticeable colour that stands out. It’s blends in too much with
the fractal

3. Decrease the speed of his projectile. It should take slightly longer to hit you to give you enough time to notice it and dodge.

4. Give it a proper telegraph. He needs an actual telegraph for this attack. You can’t see it when you’re running around and he’s too small to notice.

These 4 changes would ultimately bring him in-line with other bosses that deal agony and would remove his artificial difficulty, while still making him somewhat challenging if the group isn’t careful.

Before responding, please keep in mind this is from a perspective of level 48, where he not only does high agony damage but also does decent damage with his wolves and other attacks.
