To get us all to post in one single thread, which makes it easier to moderate, easier to ignore, and subsequently doesn’t make the game look as uninviting to prospective players since the tech support forum is not littered with network lag threads.

I absolutely do want the Alpines back.

I loved those maps and miss them every time I log on. They were perfect (to the extent that any map is, really) for the game mode. They offered great venues for battles, provided space for interesting strategies yet got out of the way when you just wanted to carve some meat. Whoever designed that map understood the game mode. Whoever designed the new one, does not.

I neither belong or want to belong to a “hardcore WvW guild”, and I hate EotM with the heat of a nova. I guess, should this be implemented, as a scout I’d have to wait for someone to approve my “Mercenary” status or simply not play at all.

Megaserver already fired a bullet into the temple of whatever interest I had left for fighting cron scripts in PvE; this would do the same for WvW.

Have you actually been to the desert(ed) maps? They are BUILT for k-trains.

These stats aren’t the problem; the general power creep is. Nerfing Trailblazer will do very little as at least Mesmer is just as lethal with Viper/Sinister and nearly as survivable if geared correctly. The condi meta is in response to the insane power creep of elites like Berserker and Daredevil with 8 hours of passives and evades.

Speaking as a Mesmer, Condi Chrono is indeed fairly boring and has an extremely low skill floor, but there is nothing between this and the nigh-impossibility of solo roaming on Power Shatter.

The meta isn’t just condi, it’s spam. Whether you can spam your skills brainlessly in zerk gear or condibunker depends on your class, but at the end of the day no one is having fun and Anet is asleep at the switch.

For the sake of fun and nostalgia, link some good old Alpine fight clips that you find memorable… I’d like to see some of those drawn-out epic battles at Hills or what-have-you…

Not one of the many accounts I have reported for hacking were banned. Not even after providing video evidence.

Then again hacking in WvW doesn’t affect gem sales, so maybe your complaint will reach a live person.

I would most definitely quit, I am close enough to it as is. It would serve as the last nail. Not just the game mode, but the entire game, seeing as PvE is dull as hell and sPvP is now a joke.

While it seems many people have trouble grasping the concept, server pride is indeed a thing. It’s about community. I don’t want to be in a WvW guild, I never have. I don’t enjoy running in a zerg or a pre-approved build.

If they had simply done the sentry and dolly improvement and some other fixes on the old borderland, plus class balance patches, but beyond that left it well enough alone, I could have kept on playing.

The game mode could have had years. But instead this.

Yeah but your pew pew channels into the Thief even if he stealths. The rest of us have to be able to see him to deal damage. As far as armor, I wear full ascended armor and trinkets and still take close to 7k per Backstab alone. That’s a third of my health pool in one hit, and followed by whip this whip that, Heartseeker, all within a second or two. Stealth itself isn’t the problem, it’s the completely ridiculous damage that goes with it.

It’s kind of hard to defend “GW2 isn’t Pay2Win” when a core spec in WvW will get absolutely destroyed by HoT elites.

Meanwhile a whole new batch of problems appear. Using these runes waters down many potentially great builds and narrows down the options, at least for the Mesmer.

It’s the WvW overhaul they’ve been working on.

I’ll probably be in the minority, but I’d actually prioritize some semblance of class balance and build diversity over what kind of armor the NPCs wear.

My concern is that alliances will pick and choose their members. Your reply to my earlier comment operated on the assumption that there is such an alliance that will accept me. If there isn’t, I am SOL. In my case, there probably would be, but I find the idea distasteful because it’d be up to other players to decide whether or not, and in what capacity, you will be allowed to play. Sooner rather than later these alliances would only approve of new members who run “acceptable” builds, and the Rangers’ forum will once again look like a suicide hotline.

There’s that modern Western sense of entitlement that has been so well instilled in the youth of today: it’s not enough that you get to enjoy a relaxing and entertaining activity, you should be rewarded for doing it.

This is disappointing, because if my server draws the short stick and ends up as the one with the deserted map for the week, I don’t need to log on that week. I am a home border scout, and the desert borderland is undefendable.

This is why the argument over borderlands is silly because I find alpine to be less defensible when the enemy zerg you just wiped can be back at the gate 30 seconds after you wiped it. It’s all how the individual commanders and servers handle to defense and the attack.

Variety is the spice of life, have both at once regardless of it’s 1 desert and 2 alpine or 2 desert and 1 alpine. It also opens the opportunity for a third map later.

It has less to do with dynamics as the simple fact that we rely on EB commanders bringing the zerg to defend keeps from zergs, and on the DBL they flat out refused to come help because people hated playing on the map. On Alpine we get help when we call for it. On DBL we don’t.

I realise that many PvE fanboys in particular have a difficult time accepting the notion that a lot of people hate the DBL.

And yes, I would rather take a break from the game than play on DBL. Did it before, will do so again. That’s how unfun that map is.

Which means I can’t reflect the Lamebow cheese back on my MtD hybrid, since I have to choose between MtD and this.

I don’t really enjoy zergs much, neither fighting them or running in one. I like to scout and do my own thing. However, I know many people enjoy them, and I understand why. I think they’re a staple of WvW. In fact, few things brighten my day more than getting my solo roamer beat down by five foes and seeing them turn around just in time to see their lives flash before their eyes as a sea of my friends comes and washes over them, rezzing me on the fly. It gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling.

Probably the issue you refer to is the incredible condition spam that’s common now and really demolishes you if you get anywhere near the center of the hurricane. Aside from that, the only problem I see vis-à-vis zergs is the PvD issue. I don’t think you should be able to do any damage at all to gates with ordinary weapons, only siege. I also don’t think golems should be able to use portals or waypoints, or benefit from any sort of quickness or swiftness. Reinforcing structures is pointless when a 40-man lawnmower melts it down in seconds with no need for a strategy.

Luckily only bad players resort to playing the spec, so in the meantime, just kill them and /laugh.

That might be true if this company used beta events to gain feedback, but they don’t. They use them to build hype. It is far too late in the development cycle to try to make drastic changes when they go live so soon.

It never left. It’s just gotten more popular now that, thanks to reward track nonsense and dailies, we have more pve clowns running around on the borderlands, and since they are not there to engage in person v. person combat, nor could they handle it if they did, they run this garbage.

And since it doesn’t involve the gem shop or spvp, nothing gets done about it.

It really is a shame because WvW is to me the most fascinating and interesting part of the game, or was back pre-WXP. Now I am lucky to find a commander who will bother defending a keep because “we can flip it for WXP after they’re done.” The people who are interested in strategic gameplay in WvW are a dying breed, and instead we get clowns looking for the win button.

I’m assuming you’re in a server under tier 4. The only times I’ve seen servers give up certain structures was because they ran out of supply to keep up maintenance of it.

Yeah, I’m in tier 5. I play almost exclusively in our home borderland. To be fair, it has gotten really hard to find people to defend stuff, sometimes commanders tag off because there are only one or two following them, so even at best they may not have enough people to defend keeps. If we get attacked at a keep it’s almost never a small group; it’s a blob or a tag. So they’re not very excited about interrupting a camp flipping field trip to die pointlessly at one of our keeps. I keep telling myself that maybe the “we’ll flip it later” is more like something to tell people as to why they’re not going there when at heart they want to defend but just don’t have the manpower.

We do defend fully upgraded keeps at our home borderland but for that we have to call one of our EB commanders to pop in to save it.

It’s still fun, just wish there was more of a point to upgrading and defending stuff since these plus scouting are things I enjoy the most, and I’d like to see the WvW community keep growing. It has so much potential.

This is why instead of buying gems anymore I am putting the same amount of money into upgrading my prepurchase tier in Camelot Unchained. The founder and lead developer of the project himself is answering questions on social media, everywhere from FB to Reddit to YouTube. You really get the sense of transparency and like your feedback can provide constructive input into the development process.

Compared to the brick wall that is Arenanet, it’s a breath of fresh air.

I congratulate you both on being chosen, thank you for being willing to donate your spare time for what will undoubtedly gobble up hours of it, and simultaneously warn you that you may need a thick skin. The last part you probably already knew.

The thing is, while your intentions may be right on the money, ArenaNet’s track record on implementing changes people ask for is not regarded as being the best, so only time will tell how many of the criticism and suggestions you may pass on will actually result in actual WvW development changes. Because we have had so little access to the development team through this forum, many will use this opportunity to shift the blame for any inaction on you.

I do wish you godspeed. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing: a better WvW experience.

Simple answer, because there’s so many condi trash mesmers around. DH has the chance to kill mesmers, so if you dont want to play a lame condi build, play dh. Thats why I play mine anyway, its satisfying blowing up those keyboard turning baddies in dire gear that think theyre actually good.

You don’t need stealth at all. I hid in keeps several times yesterday as a Guardian. In this 40vDoor meta zergs don’t care about sweeping since it just slows them down on their journey towards the next door. Besides, they can just melt their way in when it gets flipped anyways.

The pip kitten and the legendary backpack already brought in pve clowns who run from fights unless they outnumber you. Roaming is literally just chasing down people until they come across more and gank you.

This just makes it easier for people to run from fights. I am not surprised to see so many pve heroes cream their panties over it.

I would like to add my thanks. I had kind of been burned out lately, and for the first time had actually skipped doing dailies because I just wasn’t “feeling it”. I hopped on today and thought I’d wander over to Rata Sum to see what the deal was with the new content, and boy was I engaged, surprised, entertained, and rejuvinated. This box of awesome is, well, awesome. Thank you for all involved for all your hard work in making this.

I can’t leave Stronghold. When I try to exit the match, it just loads Stronghold again.

On the other hand, I can spawn all the Archers I want to keep Tybalt and me company.

The automatic upgrades are fantastic. Anytime my server faces other servers of lower ranking, we can just flip their border and leave it entirely and it’ll be T3 in no time. It’ll be funny watching the one or two scouts they have trying to keep camps flipped to prevent the auto-upgrades.

Another great thing is, we don’t really need scouts either. It takes those lower rank servers with their small groups so long to get through our T3 walls on their border that even if they make it to lord we can wp in anytime we want and snuff them out. Even if we die, just instantly respawn right next to lord, lol. It’s hilarious.

Then again if they did manage to flip it and somehow upgrade it to T3, it takes our zerg less than 6 minutes from outer gate to ring up (I’ve timed it), whereas their small groups grow white beards by the time they see a glimpse of the lord room. So no big.

Please don’t change a thing; we don’t want to have to leave people behind from our karmatrain to actually scout, siege, and guard those keeps. This is working as intended.

I don’t interrupt duels.

However, two people fighting isn’t automatically a duel. You’ll never get the distinction 100% right all the time, but being able to tell a duel from a random encounter is something you pick up over time.

What do you play, and how do you play? I really hope you roam solo as a Bow Ranger, just so you can make comments about what other people play.

Naw, I roam solo on a PU Mesmer. Sometimes I slap on my Perplexity set just for that extra slice of cheese.

So I shouldn’t really be talkin’. I just think that WvW needs some serious balancing no matter how much I enjoy my insane condition duration.
