Dragonhunter revealed... meh

Dragon hunter…. wow… NO please NO that does not fit at all with the game and epic naming of current classes….

Ah yes, Warrior, Ranger and Engineer are all such awesome and epic names of classes…

lol, always defending Anet. Don’t you ever criticize them at all?

One can argue that those classes are supposed to be generic, thus having specializations differentiates people from the generic class. You know, like in almost all other MMOs. It just seems like Anet never got around to adding specs.

quite sad it’s always the same old stats even after 3 years

Why is that sad? We have the same dodge button and we have had 3 years to get good at the game. What would really be sad is if 3 years later we all still needed/wanted to wear tanky gear because we were so bad at the game.

Because it becomes less choice than even a trinity mmo. At least in a trinity mmo, you can have 3 roles.

And yes, people will respond that there are choices, but choosing a less optimal build/gear is non-productive to the group, and that’s a flaw of the system which should be fixed.

This may be a little detail for some players or staff members but not to me.
One thing still has been left out and is being kept secret and that is the amount of maps. Anet I’m a VET but not a blind customer.
I have never since GW 1 bought a game without knowing in advance the amount of maps.
So please Anet would you please stop playing cat and mouse and tell us, stop avoiding the question. No map quantity = no purchase period.

So I could sell you a game with 50 maps and you’d be solid? LOL give me a call dude I’ll gladly offer you 50 maps that are all 4 KB in size and you can fill my wallet with some cash….

This is the dumbest complaint I’ve ever seen…

You’re missing his point entirely. He’s obviously talking about maps filled with content, like they were in GW1 campaigns and the core GW2 game. He’s not blindly going to pay for Verdant Brink only. It’s actually a logical decision. He wants more info, and that’s his right.

I’d rather have FREE content every 2 weeks, than to pay for an expansion.

It’s basically free vs pay. In my case, free win, not even up to discussion.

Yes, free updates, but look deeper into them, and start to compare and contrast, to the more traditional MMOs, and you’ll find out that other MMOs put out more meaningful content for your characters and gameplay.

I’m here because I compared this to other MMOs and found the content here to be meaningful, far far more meaningful than the content in other MMOs.

The problem with using words like meaningful is that they’re just matters of taste and opinion. What’s meaningful to a dungeon runner is not meaningful to a PvPer who never runs dungeons. Some people would think putting ten new dungeons in this game would be meaningful content. But I bet more than half the player base wouldn’t be in that category. Most people don’t consider themselves dungeon runners in most games, and I believe that’s the case in this game as well.

You talk to PvPers they have different meaningful content than WvWer’s who have different meaningful content than me.

Most MMOs don’t offer what I consider to be meaningful content. That’s why I play Guild Wars 2.

I should’ve clarified when i said, “meaningful”. I meant in terms of gameplay and progression, besides the story.

And no, it’s not subjective. The purpose of an RPG, whether it’s an MMO, or a singleplayer game, is to interact and engage in the story, hence the roleplaying aspect, but story isn’t the only facet of an MMORPG. There are also items, stats, combat, dungeons, pvp, etc., to enhance the story, otherwise the game itself becomes stale without progression to it’s other aspects, which is happening to GW2.

To Anet’s credit though, they have tweaked stats, and introduced new traits in the past, but lately, there doesn’t seem to be anything new on the horizon, except the Living Story.

When compared to other MMO content additions, GW2 lacks additional content, especially after 2 years.
FFXIV, WoW, Rift, Tera, and even GW1, etc. All of these introduce more meaningful content, for everyone, whether it’s for pvp, dungeons, story, classes, skills, talents, gear, and so on. This is why WoW is very popular, because they offer alternative gameplay additions, such as, skills & talents, new classes and races, dungeons-scenarios-raids, pvp maps & game-modes that is meaningful, to everyone, and they don’t just focus on story.

If YOU could change 7 things about GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

1. Class Roles.
2. Combat.
3. Progression.
4. Rewards.
5. Story.

Those are the major downsides to GW2 at the moment. They need to be improved and reworked. I really can’t think of 2 more right now though.

Please Address the Female Human Animation

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

F\
This is a flagrant double standard. At this point, we need to do one of two things:

  • Immediately restore the human female idle animations

- or -

  • Immediately remove mini pets from the game until they can be “fixed” to behave properly during cutscenes.

Bring back the animations! ’Nuff said.

Uh?

Minis are optional items that are often designed to be silly.

I don’t see how someone having one out that happens to mess with the mood of the setting is as weighty an issue as having the player character, which is mandatory, react poorly to the mood of the setting.

I understand the animations need to be fixed, but thats a reallllly huge leap to try to make your point.

No it’s not. It’s exactly the same thing. Whether it’s the silly minis ruining the immersion or a stretch or some tree branch being in the wrong spot. It’s the same thing. The player character did not react poorly to anything, it (just like Kasmeer and other npcs were) was playing out an idle animation while being idle. In a scripted cutscene. That you watch once, maybe twice. Then you are done. Not bothered by it anymore. But you are standing idle elsewhere more often than being in that one particular godkitten ed kittening cutscene.

But if the mini aggravates you, you can turn it off. That’s the difference I’m pointing at.

Then Anet should force minis to be disabled, since they want to be authoritarian about the whole issue of their cinematics. God forbid their “precious” cutscenes be ruined by immersion!

I just find it amateurish that they would remove them without even having a fix planned, especially since it was never game-breaking.

It’s been suggested many times for A-net to change the way commaders earn their title, but they refuse to listen or even post about it.

The title should be earned, not bought.
PvE and WvW titles separately.
Earned by achievements possibly.

Yes, the map will be like Silverwastes. It would be very difficult to do those events solo. You would probably run out of time before you even completed them.

so don’t use them. they are optional.

I knew someone would bring this up. They are not optional if you’re in a party though. The other members of the group will want you to instant-travel, and if you don’t, they will probably kick you out. So it’s not really optional.

A return to GW1 mentality

GW1 was very different, so it’s unfair to really compare the two, based on mechanics.

GW1 was designed for Instanced Groups.
GW2 was designed for Open-World Cooperative gameplay.

In GW2, skills are designed for action-combat, which requires frequent mobility, and quicker reaction skills with dodging, retaliation, etc.

Fair point. Something I’ve wondered aswell. I love to do difficult content with a selected group of people who are atleast as motivated as me to progress. It feels a bit random to try and do difficult content with a few hundred randoms who die at every turn and will continue to do so no matter how many times they do the event.

Open-world content is fun, but it’s not fun when the content is too hard for a lot of random players.

September Fix Patch

Okay everyone, calm down. Let’s discuss what a Feature Pack is supposed to mean in the context of a video game.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/feature

4: a special attraction: as

a : a featured motion picture
b : a featured article, story, or department in a newspaper or magazine
c : something offered to the public or advertised as particularly attractive <one of the car’s most popular features>

It’s obviously this definition, specifically C.

Now, let’s see what has been shown so far, and which “attractions” are considered features.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/feature-packs/

World vs. World Fall Tournament 2014
World Tournament Series
Glorious Armor Reward Track
Commander Tags
Golem Mastery
Siege Disabler
Megaserver Guild Updates
…and there’s still 2 more weeks of announcements.

Feature Packs does not necessarily mean Content Packs.
I’m just trying to put this in perspective.

Is Season 2 equal to an expansion?

in Living World

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

If it’s anything like traditional MMOs, then no. In other MMOs, even in GW1, expansions added new skills, new classes, new races, new stories, etc.

In GW2, we’re only getting the story part… from what we know. And possibly a new zone.

Now this is an expansion, in a traditional sense.

  2. 100 new profession-specific skills (10 per profession, none of which are elite)
  3. 50 new PvE only skills including 3 elite skills
  4. 10 new heroes
  5. 18 Dungeons
  6. 124 new quests
  7. The Hall of Monuments

4 new regions
Charr Homelands
Depths of Tyria
Far Shiverpeaks

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

GW2 has so much potential, but it’s being wasted on the Living Story.
They should’ve focused on the points the original poster made.

It’s really about the rewards. GW2 doesn’t give that satisfaction when earning something. Sure, there are rewards, but the way of obtaining gear sets, feels like a huge timesink. The ratio between time and reward, needs to be adjusted.

What are devs working on ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

Some of you need to realize they can’t speak of certain things because of competition. Other companies steal ideas all the time.

I have to admit, that i did like Colin’s blog posts, because they gave a “roadmap” to where the game is headed, but some stuff was delayed or never came to fruition, so i can understand why he doesn’t do them anymore.

However, the things they are allowed to speak about, has been very sparse on other areas of the game, which leads people to believe that there isn’t anything being worked on. Season 2 & Feature Pack 2, is pretty much all the information that we have gotten since the Chinese release. This is great for people that like Living Story, but not so much for others.

So far, the Feature Pack 2 info has been very disappointing to WvW players. Players were left in the dark since the CDIs on WvW, then they find out that there’s a price hike on separate colored tags, a siege disabler, and a golem mastery update. Did these 3 features really need to be hidden from the public?

Not only this, but more info from Gamescom interviews feels as though the devs aren’t going to focus on existing dungeons anymore, since it would take too long to restructure or whatever, and they would prefer to add a fractals dungeon instead, which is understandable.
http://youtu.be/umpR6LhBhW4?t=4m17s

Again, this left dungeon players in the dark for over a year(?), but did they really need to be? The QOL changes can’t be talked about at all? This is why players are getting frustrated, because Anet doesn’t talk about the small things that could be talked about, such as changes to the Party/Group system, or the “Meta End-Game” (aka Berserker playstyle), or Rewards vs. Risk, etc. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the major projects.

Brand New Trading Post!

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: nexxe.7081

The new UI for selling on the TP is terrible. To reach the sell panel I now have to:

1) Open tab, click Trading Post, then click Sell My Items. That’s one action more than the old UI
2) Open my inventory, scrabble around trying to find a sellable item, right click and select Sell at Trading Post

The Trading Post view now has fewer sellable items visible, so more scrolling is required.

My regular action is to sell immediately, but the default is List – so another click needed for every sale.

Finally, if I’m selling a stack the default is to sell just 1 item, so I have to use the slider bar to select the full stack – yet another action to take in order to sell.

The previous UI wasn’t great, but this has turned selling into a chore. The UI has been redesigned so that I have more clicking and selecting to make a simple sale. What I needed:

1) A single hotkey to get to the sell panel
2) A larger number of sellable items to view
3) A way to set preferred defaults (e.g., default sell immediately, default sell stack)

I can see there are several improvement to the system, but my main activity on the TP has been made worse…

I was going to write why it’s bad, but your list is exactly why i hate it.

I’m seriously thinking of looking for a new MMO. All these changes are terrible and the TP changes are fundamental enough to stop playing.
