Yinello.7068’s photoshoped armor (see attachment) looks quite nice and would work well for characters of any sex and race.

That’s what I’d like to see Anet do, unisex armor. There’d be minor changes: women could wear tights, men could wear leggings, and charr/asura would wear neither since they have fur.
The chest piece would look flat on men and charr/asura, and on women it would stretch to cover their breasts.

Because they no longer have to design different armors, they’d have more time to pay attention to horns, tails, and asura feet.
What they do now doesn’t work, they put all their time and effort on women’s armor, and everyone else gets junk.

Charr and Asura female precursor armor

I only play charr, and I have extremely mixed feelings about the light and medium armor. I saw that the change is happening, and, I guess overall, I’m not satisfied.

I hate how there are so few options for both male and female charr that show off the fur pattern. I spend a long time in charracter creation, getting everything nice and right, and its all for nought as there are so few sets that look good for charr that also let me display the fur patterns in any real capacity. To further add to the irony, its the heavy armor sets that have the most options that show the fur patterns off. If it werent for the fact these colors aren’t in the color picker, I could very well just be a pink charr with green polkadots and blue plaid striping under all that armor for all anyone knows. The use of the male humanoid armors for so many charr things just makes the charr armor look bland, boring, and uninspired. Also sometimes just wrong as stretching it around doesnt work right.

So I was actually pretty happy to see that the new armor sets showed some fur. Yes, the boobplates were quite frankly both tacky and out of place, and yes, it was annoyingly gender-restricted, but heck, it showed some fur, such an excruciatingly rare property among armor for charr. (Annoyingly, there are some NPC only clothes and armor for charr that players just cant have which do show off some fur at least. Why can’t we have those as armor options?)

The root of my frustrations over this are a lot deeper than this one set – if there were other, better, non-clipping, boobplateless options readily available for charr, then heck, I wouldn’t have had any reservations about the change.

But as it is, I’m really conflicted. For what its worth, if things do get reconsidered, I’d say ‘no, but get rid of the boobplates, or give us more options to show our fur’

I know its unpopular, but maybe first look then shoot?

Thanks for voting and commenting. We’ve read through everything you’ve posted here.
Among people who expressed a clear preference for one of the options, about 230 people prefer to make the change, versus about 40 who prefer to leave it as is. We’ll make the change.
We’re also going to work on cleaning up the Charr tail clipping. And then our focus has to be on shipping the full legendary set.
Thanks everyone!

I rarely like when Anet changes or “fixes” something in the game, but the recent fractal change was really good, not only does it not waste my time to do every single level now when i can just do t4 and get rewarded on all but i also made about 22 gold from fractal dailies today from 2 ascended mats that dropped. So im being totaly serious when i say i like this change and its step in the right direction god job anet developers ^^

changes needed for the pets.

i was going to answer the thread of “new pets” but i realized that actually we need better pet system. this ideas is to make our pets more useful than “a ranged weapon” and promote synergy between the ranger and the pet.

  • pets get a trait line per family that give them special buffs like:
first branch could buff the pet stats: more dps(condi and power), more tanky(vit and thoughtness) or more support (expertise and concentration).

second branch applies some buff to the ranger when cast the f2 or periodically. same rutine as before: give the ranger some extra dps, or more tanky or some support like (like shared anguish or some minor regen like an signet of the wild or such)

third branch a nice new skill for the pet: beastly warden could go here for melee families, being able to attack invisible enemies or being able to hit more than one enemy at once.

so if i have a bear my enemy can be sure if i have a dps bear that will taunt him or a tank. the important thing is that depending on which options i choose my pet will be played very differently.

because it affects families shouldnt be much of a change. reduce the families to the most unique and interesting.

id like to have also different states for the pet instead just attack and passive, from the most proactive to passive:

  • aggressive: attack anything the ranger attacks or attack the ranger.
  • defensive: only attacks if the ranger is attacked. otherwise just move away from damage.
  • passive: follows the ranger but attack nothing.
  • f1 still fix the pet in that target, as long as that target lives and the ranger doesnt tag another with f1 the pet dont swap targets. same as does with passive but applied to any pet state.
  • pet attacking lease range should be increased, and its speed matched to +40% normal player speed. So it can follow their objective as far as needed.
  • pet lease when not attacking is stuck to the ranger, so if im avoiding aoe my pet follows, now it simply stays in the middle of aoe while im out of their range.
  • birds family should fly. when i mean fly i would be happy if they just behaved like the barrage from the bristle in the beta, so the birds could attack over walls and such. This would make up for the lack of ranged aoe.
  • same for example for the carrion family. maybe tunnel under walls? Again more fun and tactical use and a reason to use a carrion. when chosen this ability the carrion could give the ranger the ability to see and tag enemy names thru walls at short range. lets call it “ground vibrating sight”.
  • canines could be able to attack invisible targets while not revealing them.
  • cats could get the ability to attack more than one enemy at once.
  • being able to know which buffs or conditions are affecting my pet would be amazing.
  • Druid could get in some of the trait the skill to transfer the conditions affecting the pet and converting them to boons for the druid.

those are random ideas in a random order, what do you think?

To be honest, I think you are stepping into an over-complicated idea and giving a traitline for each kind of pet would be to huge of a work.

The traits that improve pet already exist. The traits that improve specific pets, I’m glad they no longer exist.

I’ll be honest, If they were to do something to the pets, It would be hundred time better that they work on :

- The ranger ability to prevent the pet to use unneeded skills at an unneeded moment. At the moment the ranger is still fighting against his pet due to these skills.

  1. Bird : Quickening screech kill the efficiency of the birds
  2. Devourer : Lash tail and Devourer retreat are a hindrance without active control
  3. Bear : Defy pain is good and all but again, without controle it’s useless
  4. Vivern : Wind buffet and tail lash like all control skill are a hindrance without active control from the ranger.
  5. Moa : Harmonic cry is good and all but, again, it would be hundred time better to be able to use it when it’s needed.

- A huge balance patch on F2 skills.

  1. Forage from Pigs need some work in order to be user friendly
  2. Pets shout that are meant to buff ally absolutely don’t need the cast time and the useless animation that break the already difficult ability of these pet to actually hit their target. I understand the need for a “tell” on offensive shout but buff shout absolutely don’t need it.
  3. Looking at the usefullness of each F2 skill wouldn’t hurt

- Improve pet’s attack speed which is pitiable and most likely contribute a lot to the laughable inabiliy of the pet to hit reliably a moving target.

- Last and not least, NPC totally ignore the movement speed penality when entering in combat. The pets are the only NPC who are affected by this penality. So either apply the penality to all NPC or remove it from the pet.

No core profession should be balanced around an optional elite specialization.

Wishlist for the Future of Guild Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Starlightpaw.5871

What do you want to see in the future of Guild Wars 2 or the next expansion? List it all in this thread!

My personal list:

  • Tengu playable race – This is my greatest desire. The implementation of this race should, of course, should come with a new starting area, racial city (we all know it’s right next to Lion’s Arch…), and personal story. I’ve seen some people try to come up with reasons why this would be complicated, but none of the reasons that get frequently mentioned I see as an outright deterrent to making Tengu playable. I have actually held off creating a ranger because I want my ranger to be a Tengu. The wait is becoming painful for me. Just let us play as these beautiful, colorful birds already!
  • Bring back the old PvP armor sets as PvP reward tracks – I think this one is inevitable, to be honest. I’m talking about the Tribal armor set and the Stalwart armor set, of course. It’s been talked about a lot recently, so hopefully this doesn’t get “knocked off the table” again. I know that I won’t forget it…
  • Fix the physics on armors such as the “Shackles of Madness” – Some developer, God bless their soul whoever they are, actually fixed the physics on the “Wreath of Cooperation” skin not too long ago. This gives me hope that other skins (notably “Shackles of Madness” and “Glittering Wings Backpack”) will be fixed as well. I’m sure there are other armors that have some quite noticeable dysfunctions, so if you have a similar issue with a piece of armor, don’t be afraid to mention it! The particular issue with the "Shackles of Madness" skin is that the chains are stiff. They simple do not move as they should, and this has made it so that I, and many other players, do not want to wear this skin. The issue with the "Glittering Wings Backpack" is not that big of an issue, but it still bugs me personally. Some would argue that they are fine the way they are, but the stiffness of the dragonfly-like wings part of the skin doesn't seem natural. There should be at least some flexibility in this backpack, in my opinion.

So what do you want?

The black and white “angel” wings are OK, but kinda “floppy”. The new “Hawk” style wings are simple amazing, so I’d love to see them offered in plain white and black like the angel wings. Or make a “Hawk” wing glider that is dyeable so you can just make it the color you wish?

Updating:

-Jungle Stalker F2 (and some other pets) goes on full cooldown if interrupted before any effect took place
-Healing Spring spawns at place of ability activation, not at the end of the cast
-Healing Spring trigger check upon spawning is set for people entering the trap, not people present in it
-Staff #3 is still bugged in terms of pathfinding. It sometimes roots you in place
-Pet Stats are bugged upon entering a match and need to be re-called for refresh
-Quick Draw is still bugged on OH Axe #5 and Underwater Spear #3 (ability made of 2 IDs and Quick Draw sets only on the gap closer, not the damage)
-Quick Draw still bugged with entering CAF close before Weapon Swap CD refresh
-Warhorn #4 still bugged (if initial hit is negated – whole ability is negated but sequence hits can be negated even if 1st hit landed)
-Sick’Em still cancels pet abilities
-Enlargement still forces you out of CAF and depletes all astral force built
-Verdant Etching has a different timing on different glyphs and if I’m correct – delay is random even when a single glyph is recast

… Dunno, could type a few more but meh.

-If a ranger respawns in pvp, the pet respawns where the ranger dies, takes damage, and the ranger spawns in combat.
-Pets names don’t stay.
-Bristleback still gets obstructed on everything and has issues with targets above/below.
-Bristleback got -25% damage reduction instead of fixing the 20 projectiles to 15.
-Pets still have issue hitting moving foes: due to stopping and then attacking. All pets need a sort of leap like moas.
-Projectiles that pass through sublime conversion, staff #5, become airborn and slow down, and miss 99% of the time.

I’ll add more as I think of them.

[Suggestion] Re-thinking Mentors

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sondergaard.8469

Sondergaard.8469

I think mentors are a great idea for this game. There’s a lot to learn, and a lot that can be overwhelming for a new player. Asking in map chat doesn’t always yield beneficial results, and can lead to frustration for a new player.

The problem is, the current implementation of Mentors is just a simplified version of a commander tag. That doesn’t really help new players, or provide them a method in-game for asking questions and getting answers from veteran players who enjoy helping new players.

My suggestion is change it up. Rename the current ‘mentor’ tag in the masteries to jr commander, since that’s all it is.

For the actual mentor role, require a player to have 80%-100% map completion, have a certain amount of hours played on their account, have a certain level of achievement points completed, and have opted in to be a mentor for new players.

Add a new chat channel for new players, and mentors. This channel would be for the purpose of connecting new players with veterans to help assist them in getting familiar with the game and answering questions, as well as having someone to adventure with who can show them around.

Mentors should have access to this channel whether or not they’ve set their status to available as a mentor.

Add a new LFG option for new players to seek out and find mentors who have turned their mentor status to available.

This is just a rough sketch of an idea with room for improvement. I’m sure our community and the team at ANet can come up with some great ideas on how to make something like this even better, but it would certainly go a long way to improving the new player experience to have access to the mentor channel.

Will Wyverns....

in Ranger

Posted by: Electro.4173

Electro.4173

The wyverns need a ton of work to be useful.

Not only are their attacks slow as heck to the point where they can be avoided by players with zero effort and even by normal mobs if they aren’t 100% stationary, but their DPS is also awful even if they do manage to hit things. They have similar DPS to stuff like Moas and pigs, with the only advantage being they hit AoE (but so do drakes, and drakes have decent DPS, so that’s really no reason for it). Their F2 skills are woefully underwhelming. The Fire Wyvern’s does mediocre damage, deals some minor burn stacks that drop off way too fast, and the fire field is wonky. Electric Wyvern’s does even worse damage, has a pointless lightning field that does nothing, and leaves the pet having to chase down its opponent afterwards, which is very bad given how slow they attack and how bad they are at chasing enemies down. Wing Buffet will activate at its exact range limit, which means the first hit will knock enemies out of the rest of the hits even though it barely moves enemies at all.

I’d say the wyverns need all of the following to be considered good…

~ Attack speed increase. Seriously. Just this alone would probably make them decent at least.
~ Better F2 skills. Fire Wyvern’s should do more damage and the burn stacks should last a few seconds rather than just dropping off immediately. The fire field should also start as soon as the attack starts and just expand over the duration much like the Reaper’s GS#4. Electric Wyvern’s needs more damage, needs to create a trail of electricity instead of just a circle at the end, and the lightning field needs to do something (damage, debuffs, ally buffs, whatever). Oh, and it should be a leap finisher, because look at it. Clearly leap finisher material.
~ Fix the AI for Wing Buffet so that it doesn’t use the attack at max range and blow enemies out of it
~ Possibly add a Blast finisher to Wing Buffet, though that may be pushing it and may step on the toes of Drakes too much.

Sadly, I’m not holding my breath for buffs. Its all been brought up before even during beta by myself and others and nothing has come of it.

Fractals
Revamp how you interact with different levels.

  • No longer asks you to pick a level on entering the instance
  • A full list of available levels inside the observatory
  • You can choose and change which level to enter at any time from this list
  • This list displays which level is which fractal (1 : Ascalon, 2 : Swamp …) A small thumbnail art for each fractal would be nice.
  • This list can be sorted by level number or level type (ex: display in ascending order/display all molten boss levels/etc.)

I suppose fractal UI revamp would involve more than just a UI redesign, but it would still be nice. Current fractal selection I feel is outdated since the fractal restructuring and clunky to work with.

Inventory
A one-click ‘deposit all materials’ button, now outside of the drop down menu. (fast, convenient, and no more misclicking ‘compact’ by accident either)
‘Automatically deposit all materials’ and/or ‘Deposit all materials when inventory is full’ checkboxes from the drop down menu.
Key items(crowbars, machetes, etc.) are now in the account wallet, and shows next to the map currency when in appropriate map.

LFG
A search bar, similar to the one in your inventory.
A separate Raid category

Bank
Add a search bar for the material storage tab

If you have any other UI or Quality of Life suggestions, post them below.
