Another addition to the list:

  • Swoop (Greatsword #3), Hornet’s Sting & Monarch’s Leap (Sword #2) distance is reduced while under the effect of Quickness.

Note that this seems to be the case with other leap/movement skills across all classes.

Traits

Utilities

  • Healing Spring does not heal allies/pets.
  • Healing Spring can be placed up to 4 times.
  • Healing Spring does not activate when used at full health and losing health while inside the trigger area. Player must exit then re-enter the trap area to activate.
  • Spirit of Nature – passive heal does not scale with Healing Power.
  • Solar Flare (Sun Spirit) activation time is faster than other Spirit actives.
  • Strength of the Pack! buff on the Pet uses Lightning Reflexes icon.
  • Sic ’Em! – active effect is cancelled if any other pet command is given, including another pet shout.
  • The unactivated duration of deployed traps varies between 1 to 5 minutes with no apparent rationale.
  • Signet of the Wild – if the effect is active upon leaving combat, the skill bar will be locked until the player enters and leaves combat again. Skills can however be changed from the Hero panel.
  • Frost Trap – effects will not apply upon triggering (including the traited ‘on trigger’ cripple) but upon the 1st pulse thereafter.
  • Viper’s Nest – tooltip displays pre-specializations poison amounts (1 stack vs 3).
  • Flame Trap applies 2 stacks of burning on trigger.

Weapons

  • Maul (Greatsword #2) – unlike other melee cleave skills, only the closest target is affected by the crit chance from Precise Strike and the damage bonus from Remorseless.
  • Swoop (Greatsword #3) acts as 2 leap finishers.
  • Swoop (Greatsword #3) will immobilize the player for ~1 second mid-cast if performed on a downward slope.
  • Hilt Bash (Greatsword #5) – stated range is 300, actual range is 220.
  • Whirling Defense (Axe #5) only procs a whirl finisher at the start of the cast – used to proc multiple times like Whirling Wrath etc.
  • Stalker’s Strike missing its base range increase from the old Off-Hand Training trait.
  • Bonfire – the coefficient for the direct-damage portion is incorrect.

So….healing spring is being looked at, right? I know the original intent was to “fix” it so it works with trapper runes, but you ended up breaking it and now no one uses it. Not even the very people you broke it for (trapper stealth rangers). I’d rather have a properly functioning HS and if it means it not working with those runes then so be it. Fix HS not healing the pet. Fix HS not going off when I stand on it at full health for a condi cleanse or regen. Just give it the old functionality please.

There is already an option for choosing a random finisher, but either some finishers have a set amount of charges or some are just more fun to use than others. It could work just like the dyes where the favorites show up at the top of the list and you can have the option to randomize between your favorites and all of your finishers. There is already a tab for unconsumed finishers, so it surely can’t be all that hard to add another for favorites.

It is really annoying to always have to carry around the potion and have to use it on every map again.
It would be easy to convert it into a helmet skin.
For those who insist on wearing a helmet to it you could enable both skin and potion.

What boggles the mind is when I found the newly released content made specifically for charr (i.e. hair styles) clips heavilly into heads, horns of all shapes and ears. Come on, that’s not even lazy effort :[ I know we’re measly ten per cent of your playerbase, but that’s still a few thousand people.

I definitely support the mane idea as inspiration. The various basic styles we got with launch were good, but I have to struggle to find more than one goodlooking hairdo from the exclusive BL set.

It looks like when they rush things before deadlines or consider how much effort should be put into it, they not only consider the race popularity, but gender popularity within the race as well.
Look at outfit differences between male and female charr for example.
Some that don’t clip with tail on males do clip on females, plus there are more charr specific features like tail decoration etc.

Where did you get the 10%?
Is there something official other then post-launch statistics?
Perhaps an average from more then one internet surveys?

i 100% agree and if most outfits look bad on charr we could atleast get some better hair styles lol.

There has been a lot of negativity on here, some of it I have even contributed to. And I saw on reddit that there is even worse things, like people asking for some devs to get fired. In light of this, I felt it was important to give you guys some positive feedback.

Even though I don’t always agree with some of the changes you guys make, I still love this game, and I thank you guys for putting in so much hard work to make this game that brings me so much enjoyment. Even though some of the comments that people are making are over the top in their nastiness, please try to see the positive part of these comments: that you guys have created such a wonderful game, that people have developed strong emotions about it.

Healing Spring “Trap” won’t Trigger if…

…you lay Healing Spring while you have 100% health and stay within the trap and then start taking damage. You have to exit the trap and re-enter it to trigger it w/o having 100% health (or lay it after taking damage).

Sounds like a BIG BUG to me… watch the video at the bottom of this post.

Imagine coming up on an enemy thief, for instance, and seeing him shadow refuge. So you drop Healing Spring knowing that he’s probably going to attack any second. You figure you’re gonna need HS for the cleansing and healing/regen. The problem is that it won’t trigger until you exit HS and re-enter it without full health. The enemy thief shadow steps to you and hits you with some venom turning you to stone or immobilizing you or just chilling you, and… You CANNOT get the benefits of Your Own Healing Spring because you gotta exit the kitten thing and re-enter it for it to trip, but you can’t because you’re incapacitated (you’re immobilized!!!).

In my opinion, if the Ranger is standing in his own HS trap and starts to take damage, it needs to instantly trip. He shouldn’t have to exit it and re-enter it w/o 100% health in order for it to trip or wait until he’s taking damage to drop HS.

RANGER BUGS AND BALANCE ISSUES

Traps:
-Healing Spring still doesnt heal the pet
-Healing Spring can be stacked up to 4 times but they all activate when just 1 is triggered
-Spike trap cooldown is ridiculous for 1 second knockdown duration while thieves have a trap under 30s cooldown that has 3 second knockdown and gives 8 seconds of cripple untraited.
Make spike trap pulse knockdown or reduce its cooldown.

Spirits:
-Storm Spirit is not fixed with regard to “Moment of Purity” which should increase the daze duration
-Spirits active effects are extremely slow to activate, giving them more time to die or the potential target to escape it’s radius and they also dont triggerupon dying anymore.
-Spirits damage, healing and boon duration don’t scale with the ranger stats (crit chance/damage, power, healing, etc…) except sun spirit which also has a faster active skill animation.
-Spirit of Water is the worst heal any class ever had it procs 800 heal every 10 second and the cooldown is shared for all party members.
-Spirits cast time are to long 1/2 second would be better
-Nature Vengeance is terrible, why would boon pulse 1 sec every 3 sec? Make it 1sec every 1sec it’s already bad not great that way. If someone picks Nature Spirits and Nature Vengeance, one could expect perma stability while spirit stays alive.
-Spirit of Nature passive radius is too small, making its passive irrelevant since he cant move anymore.

Taunt:
-Taunt radius is smaller for birds bear and spiders making them all unusable if you want the taunt.

Entangle:
-Entangle isn’t an elite, blink, teleport, stealth, generic condi removal, rune that reduce condi duration ALL negate it. could be fixed easily by reducing cooldown or increasing the duration of the imoblize per pulse and also making it able to target stealthed characters and stick to the target that try to blink from it .

Weapons:
-Greatsword autoattack deals too low dmg it’s laughable could make slash and slice 1/4 cast time so that we can evade more effectively when using it while also increasing damage slightly, Counterattack is so slow everyone dodges it, hilt bash should be like maul, usable while moving and have increased range
-Sword roots you in place when autoattacking could be fixed by disabling autoattacking for this particular weapon.
-Why remove offhand training… torch is bad now and so is condi ranger in general because of that and the trap nerf remove ground targetting, should be baseline just like other classes had.
-Longbow skills all go on full cooldown when stowed, even before you shoot anything. Meaning that if your target goes behind you before you shoot point blank shot, it will stow and go on full cooldown.

Traits Placement:
-Having to chose between empathic bond or wilderness knowledge is the worst balancing choice, I’d like both, or maybe I don’t want this tree for my build at all.
But if so maybe I don’t want to have to use the brown bear or healing spring as only condi removal either since thery’re pretty bad for pvp.
-Splitblade (Axe 2) is useless for power builds but at the same time the axe trait to reduce cooldown gives you ferocity IF you wield an axe in your main hand, very weird trait. Increase this skill’s damage by 400% at least so that it’s rewarding to land all 5 on 1 target if you go zerker axe build.

GENERAL

  • Pets missing baseline 150 stat increase to Power, Precision, Toughness, and Vitality.
  • Longbow skills receive full cooldowns when cancelled during the initial cast.
  • “Hilt Bash” (Greatsword) actual range is 220 instead of 300 (tooltip).
  • “Solar Flare” (Sun Spirit) activation time is faster than other Spirit actives.
  • Resounding Timbre does not display bonus boons on “We Heal as One” tooltip.
  • Resounding Timbre does not display bonus boons on “Strength of the Pack” tooltip.
  • “Strength of the Pack” buff on the Pet uses Lightning Reflexes’ icon.
  • Juvenile Marsh Drake selection image does not match the actual Pet.

UTILITIES

  • Healing Spring can be placed multiple times (up to 4).
  • Healing Spring does not heal the Pet or allies.
  • Healing Spring does not activate when used at full health and losing health while inside the trigger area. Player must exit then re-enter the trap area to activate.
  • Water Spirit prevents point-capture contribution when active.
  • “Sic ’Em” buff removed from the Pet after using F1-F3.

TRAITS

  • Quick Draw does not apply to “Whirling Defense” (Axe) unless the cast is cancelled.
  • Quick Draw reduces only base cooldowns by 66% and does not include other traits.
  • Light On Your Feet actual buff duration is 3s instead of 4s (tooltip).
  • Ambidexterity bonus +150 Condition Damage is negated upon teleporting or being teleported without receiving a loading screen.
  • Nature’s Vengeance reduces Spirit passive chance down to 70% when traited.
  • Natural Healing heals the pet 189hp every 3s instead of 125hp every 1s.
  • Natural Healing does not show visible green number floaters on the Pet.
  • Go For The Eyes does not apply to [F2] commands when the player is downed.
  • Wilting Strike does not apply to [F2] commands when the player is downed.
  • Wilting Strike does not apply to the Brown Bear [F2] command “Shake It Off.”
  • Beastly Warden does not apply to [F2] commands when the player is downed.

Note¹: Quick Draw will not take into account traits that reduce weapon skill cooldowns such as Strider’s Defense, Two-Handed Training, Lead the Wind, and Axe Training. Tested and confirmed with each trait.

Note²: Whirling Defense will not receive the Quick Draw bonus even with Quickness applied.

Does it even heal ALLIES? I haven’t seen it do it yet.

No, it doesn’t. Just tested it with a friend. Allies can trigger the trap for condition cleanse and regen, but not for the heal.

I just tested it in game and it seems to only activate now if you have taken damage. It won’t trigger at all if you are at 100% health.

Further testing seems to indicate that if you lay it down at 100% and then take damage it won’t activate until you leave the ring and re-enter it.

Aka Anet dun kittened up again…

Correction to my post above: If you place it down before taking any damage, and then enter it, the heal won’t trigger at all, just regen.
If you activate it after you have taken damage, then the heal works.

The healing part of Healing Spring doesn’t work at all. Tested and confirmed. This skill only have regen + condicleanse now.

Give us back the old skill please. I can’t believe how they took a perfectly viable and working skill, reworks it to something noone asked for, and made it fubar.

As a ranger clocking at 1010+ days under my belt, I’d like to add my voice to the current state of the healing pool.

Yes, it’s bugged as hell.

First, I can confirm, pet is getting no heal from it.

Second, it not activating has nothing to do with health. It occasionally fails to activate for reasons probably known only to those weird human gods. Ever. Usually, yes it helps to get out of it and enter the trap again (which is exactly what you want to bother yourself doing when your health is low…). But it happened to me more than a handful of times already that the spring simply refused to activate. Yesterday, during Karka queen, I was attempting to heal a group of players around me, but was left with a leafy circle on the ground that was humming softly, and no amount of acrobatics could open it, leaving me with two dead comrades and me having to bail from a fight to lick my wounds via a friendly engineer with a turret kit.

Third, I’d like to be the voice that says that making it a trap in the first place was a terrible idea. The tooltip is now extremely inaccurate, claiming casting time of 1/2 seconds, while in reality it’s now always 1/2 seconds to cast + 1/2-3-never to open, the latter number being adherent to the afformentioned gods, (which I as a charr do not worship, therefore more often than not am found being told to kitten off and heal elsewhere) + 1/2-1 more second to receive the first healing tick (this, I noticed, being related to amount of players and lag, so nothing much to do with it.)

I understand why the change was probably made – to fit into a bracket, to play well with the new trait system. Problem is, the Healing pool “nottrap” it was before worked perfectly fine. Solid heal skil that removed a condition from yourself and allies taxed in return by having a limited range of movement over time to receive all of its benefits. It was the best tool rangers had for healing, and, in this ranger’s humble opinion, the only actually useful one. Right now, it’s a 50/50 tossacoin chance if it will even work properly, and has a delay that can be fatal, leaving the ranger with a very subpar choice of health replenishment (troll unguent’s mostly uselessly slow and selfish only, heal as one bugs out as well by healing 600 instead of 6000 and is, again, selfish, neither remove conditions, neither has a combo field – which the ranger already has a limited number of – that arcane thing removing torment is nice for removing torment, but useless for everything else, and water spirit is good for band aids, but treating a warrior’s sword stuck in my gut with one is also rather lacking).

Please, unless you can make the trap work properly and without penalizing casting times, return it to its previous, simple state :[

While they could be better still, I think the new wing mechanics are much better. They actually move something like a real wing, rather than something like a pair of cardboard wings taped to the character back.

Figured I might as well get around to posting this one…

Description: The shoulder pieces on the Sneakthief armor skin float a little too high off the shoulder – from many angles they are pretty obviously floating, especially during e.g. idle animations (see screenshot). Using the aviator memory box it gets even worse – they appear to be coming out the character’s ears. I figure some kind of gap is pretty much inevitable but I’m hoping it’s at least possible to reposition/resize this one so it’s less obvious.
