Yeah the amount of silly content that has made its way into this game is really sad. I fully expect to get to the top of the tower and meet scarlet in her clown costume doing something absurd though, so I’m not getting my hopes up.
She needs to be killed off, she was not a very well conceived villian to start with and the fact that she is shoehorned into almost every living story is making things worse.
I do not care how she dies, have her fall off the Krait tower in one of the website stories Arena Net seem to be so fond of.
No, Scarlet is the best that could happen in this game amongst dragon bashes. festivals, 8 bit games and elections. I hope the expansion of GW2, if it will ever exist, will be based on Scarlet
Not sure if troll, or…

Please kill Scarlet at least here, no one cares how she dies
Still not any great villian. She’d fit to Rayman Adventures or Lego Series with PEGI +6, but not to actual MMO.
Most of the playerbase is very fed up with all that magitech and salad all around, I tell you.
Give us a villian like Vizier, Shiro, Palawa Joko from GW1, Vilgefortz from Roggeven from The Witcher Saga, or Azar Javed from The Witcher 1 game, something grim, villian that we actually respect…not a mad salad lady who appears everywhere in every plot, runing it due to her middle-age crysis and menopause…

If i wanted to do a summary why she’s such a cartoonish cliche villain and why it would be better to just forget about her, i couldn’t have done it better. Thank you OP.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
…until I found out that it’s been confirmed that it’s Scarlet again. Like seriously..the Krait are supposed to be Xenophobic??? Why Anet…just WHY?!?
Please kill her already and move onto the older, interesting lore.
Sincerely,
The majority of the playerbase
Crazy idea, imagine if there was no such thing as a “DPS” or full DPS build.
Meaning, you couldn’t focus 100% of your stat budget to pure damage. Everyone would have the same dmg potential from stats as everyone else no matter what.
For example, every piece of gear would have 1 dmg stat, either Condition Dmg or a merged version of Power/Crit stats, then you’d have your choice of stats that would ultimately modify your playstyle.
You could choose from : Healing, Support, Control, Defense.
So in the end, everyone would have the same damage gear wise, and you would differ on which secondary “role” you choose. You could just go defense, or give up some defense for healing, or support, or control. Support would be buffing power, as opposed to Healing.
This is just hypothetical, and even if did happen the content would still need to be changed or else the best builds would probably be either support or defense.
But it got me thinking of how this game was supposed to eliminate the Holy Trinity, and everyone is supposed to “dps” while having a secondary role of their choosing, I think it would’ve made things more interesting to have the stats actually reflect that. Right now you have the DPS from the trinity, the Tanks from the trinity, and sort of healer/tanks from the trinity in this game, but the last 2 aren’t needed, and thus just aren’t relevant, the stats make this happen.
The same thing would probably be better for pvp as well, there would be no glass cannon vs glass cannon that makes the game a ridiculously small TTK twitch based crapshoot, or 2 low dmg bunker specs unable to kill each other. In this case, it would also seperate the sustain (healing) and defense (tankiness/high TTK) builds.

“Here’s what we believe: If someone wants to play for a thousand hours to get an item that is so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it, that rare item should be differentiated by its visual appearance and rarity alone, not by being more powerful than everything else in the game. Otherwise, your MMO becomes all about grinding to get the best gear. We don’t make grindy games — we leave the grind to other MMOs.”- Mike O’Brien
What happened Anet? You said you didn’t want it to be a grinding game but it is and with more updates that you come out, you are not lowering the grinding of the game but you’re increasing it. Example? Ascended Weapon. The new halloween weapon.
I’ve grinded so much in this game its unbelievable spending over 400g to try and get dusk with no luck, farming hours and hours with no luck, and it is coming to the point where the only thing which is farming champs is becoming boring. I have 6 level 80s and sometimes i have nothing at all to do. I have no legendary but thats because i dont want to spend hour and hours grinding for it. I would do it if it wasn’t such a bore to do.
Please please please make this game less grindy like you said you would!

the manifesto itself, which is only 1 video out of 24.
18 of the 24 videos are showcases.
There is a video in there that tells you specifically about the personal story and another video in there that specifically tells you about dynamic events. There are other videos that tell you about everything
It’s telling me how it’s different on GW2 from traditional MMOs, not actually telling me much aside from instilling in me that GW2 is different.
So what you’re saying is that anything that MIGHT be misintepreted from three years ago, in a single video should have it’s own page of corrections just in case someone might misunderstand it, because my understanding of some of those lines, even without the clarification was completely different.
No. I’m saying a link to where I can see it on the official GW2 website should be there. I shouldn’t have to go to some random website that saved it on their server from a post way back when. Someone at ANet wrote it, I don’t see why it’s on deleted blogs and not situated where I can see it without a Google search on the topic.
saying that this is something Anet has to rectify is just plain silly.
Why? Why is it silly to say ANet should go back and fix the Manifesto to reflect what they really meant? Because of time? Because of all the content that’s being worked on? They can spend hours doing live feeds, but can’t fix a video? It’s still their main marketing point. Do you see the almost daily threads on here about this topic? People are still viewing it.
Those who continually bring up the manifesto are living in the past, and any MMO player will tell you that’s not a good place to be.
It’s called nostalgia.
If the game had met your expectation in other ways, would you still be bringing up the manifesto? Would you even care about it?
I would. But I don’t base most of my comments off of the Manifesto. And so would others. Because there’s more that’s been reverted that’s outside of it. And before you tell me MMOs change and evolve and all that, I agree with you, that they do. But, they shouldn’t go in the total opposite direction over what was said. A small turn is alright, but going all the way around is not.
Maybe you understood everything that was said in the Manifesto in all your wide worldy wisdom. Others didn’t. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that maybe 20 people total understood what was actually being said in the whole video. Truth or not, the other 98% of the game’s population that saw it didn’t.

According to the manifesto, two years out from publication the Devs can talk enormous smack about other MMO designers…
…only to fall back on the exact same tired solutions when their own deadlines start to loom.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

You would think the Manifesto was the Holy Bible or something. Do people worship this thing and offer ritual sacrifices to it?
The manifesto listed Anet’s core ideals and intentions for the game. Many many people bought the game based on these words. To many people, Anet has gone back or even turned 180 degrees on many of those words — that’s why they feel betrayed. It’s as simple as that.
completely agree, the story should be in-game, if it isn’t it doesn’t exist. not having it in-game is just lazy.
| 61 Asura | 5 Charr | 2 Norn | 1 Human | 1 Sylvari |
If I don’t see it happen in the game, it didn’t happen.
Please put it in the game! I don’t care if its a book I have to read in the library in game, it kills the mood to read it on the website plus the glaring white back ground!
Those Video were made when the Manifesto was still in effect. Those are the original Guild Wars 2 videos.
What the game is now is Ascended Grind Wars 2. Different game.
I’m not sure what Arenanet was thinking with this one.
It’s 1,000 candy corn to make one Candy Corn Cob. And it takes 15 Candy Corn Cobs to get a 20 slot Halloween Pail.
At those costs, it’s far easier to just farm 10 gold and buy a regular 20 slot box outright.
I want one of the dev’s that decided on this rubbish to go and actually farm them up. If they aren’t willing to do it and it’s their own creation, they shouldn’t expect their players to be willing to do it either.

I hear this often from people in and out of game. I can’t understand how they can think that crafting something was free since they gathered the mats.
Once you have the mats, you have 2 options:
1. Craft them into something.
2. Sell them.
In both cases, you are without the mats in the end, but gain:
1. The value of the item you crafted.
2. The gold gained from selling mats.
So when crafting, the cost was either #2 (gold you would have gotten selling the mats), or the cost of buying the mats, both of which are pretty similar.
And the time it takes to gather should also be taken into account. Time saved can be used to make gold somewhere else.
If it were announced tomorrow, I wouldn’t be able to throw my money at the screen fast enough.
200g? The amount I spent was no where near that number. I just refined ori and ancient wood I gathered, made some sharpening stones and crafted a few exotics. I think I spent less than 25. Also the 200g on the website is due to the inflated prices that will eventually drop. oh from 450 I just refined ascended mats I got from champ loot bags.
Yes 200g. You speculated in wood/ore, as did I thankfully. Regardless its 200g.
Collect the stuff yourself and it is significantly less than 200G
WHY?!?? Why does this flawed logic always pop up in MMO’s?
It’s called opportunity cost.
Yes and no . Complaining for complaint sake is pointless and achieves nothing . Constructive criticism is another story . Unfortunately constructive criticism is the exception not the rule on this forum
While I see your point, I’d argue that blindly praising the game for the sake of praising it is equally worthless, and achieves an equal amount of nothing. It provides absolutely no constructive feedback to let ANet know what, specifically, they are doing right.
Non-constructive praise isn’t any more worthwhile than non-constructive criticism.
Game is great. Nothing wrong with complaints as it helps with improvement. If nobody complained the game would be a complete money grabber with nothing going for it.
“Play how you want”
“Equal playing field for all”
“No grind”
Ya right… There is only 1 reliable way to obtain ascended weapons… Crafting? Why… name a single game were end game gear is obtainable only through crafting. Not only that but you decided to go ahead and add 100 crafting levels, BUT were too lazy to add 425/475 recipes resulting in forcing people to use 400/450 recipes to level, making it cost so much that the majority of players will never earn that much. How much? The cheapest is just around 200g for ONE profession. Source: http://gw2crafts.net/weaponcraft_400.html
Not a single thing this patch addressed the major problem with crafting… the fact that you cannot in any way shape or form make money from any crafting prof, before it was just a means for rich players to level an alt to 80 in a day, now its just a means to grind for ascended gear.
Why were fractals completed ignored? Now we have 55 AR max but you were too lazy to remove the 50 cap (which was stupid in the first place, i cant even think of a logical answer for putting the 50 cap on fractals). Asceneded weapons could of cost 15-25 relics, giving people who like somewhat challenging PvE content a way to acquire asc weapons.
WvWvW? How about making ascended weapons purchasable via badges?
I mean this game pretty much became P2W/G2W after this patch, you can whine and say its only a 5%/10% increase, but its still goes completely against the GW philosophy to give rich/lucky/gem buyers a sizable advantage over the general population.
And this is coming from someone with 500 wpn smith / 472 soon to be 500 huntsman.
And before you say “B-But it can drop” realize the chance is somewhere around getting struck by lighting, but not only that you want to get struck by the lighting you want (stats). It’s nothing you would rely on.
Justin Timberlake.
The question is what’s in the box, not in the closet.
Disappointment.
Whats in the Box? Maybe it’s all the player’s legitimate threads that got deleted by the devs because they didn’t want to hear the truth!
Scarlet taking over would be the final nail in the coffin of a believable storyline.
The Mask of the Night look ok but it does not look like a Halloween Mask.
