Risk vs Reward [Challenging Content.]

Read this before Posting

You have a 25% – 50% -75% – 100% chance to get a Random Chest.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_chest

25% / 17 = 1.47% Chance to get the chest you want.
50% / 17 = 2.9% Chance to get the chest you want.
75% / 17 = 4.4% Chance to get the chest you want.
100% / 17 = 5.8% Chance to get the chest you want.

The numbers are actually quite low if you take into the account the RNG, CRAFTING WILL STILL BE THE BEST WAY… by a long shot.

I feel that currently, I like the hardness of the fight. However right now the fight is just not worth the risk. You heard me right, the fight is just pointless, soon nobody will do this unless its nerfed to the ground.

Why? It has the same horrible drop-rate as it did before, and its only 100 times harder. I will just do other easier world events.

What should you do about it?
First of all, make the kill REWARDING…

75% Health
25% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
8% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.

50% Health
50% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
16% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.

25% Health
75% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
25% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.

0%, You successfully downed him.
100% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
33% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.

This would make the fight MUCH more rewarding, you still have a chance to get a Random Box however since the box is random you still have incentive to keep killing him, it is just not such a LOW chance that its not worth doing.

Currently..
I have no incentive to do this, I have the scales/ore from the last update and I would rather make my legendary or craft one then do this, its simply NOT WORTH MY TIME.

I’d agree with you that if it had been an instanced raid tuned for twenty people it would have probably been fine and way more fun.

But the open world nature of it makes it impossible for most servers. All you need is one dedicated turret troll and it’s game over.

I’m glad they can be failed now. People took them for granted enough that some declared “I’m quitting” after not winning an event, ridiculous.

Super Adventure Vince

Allow me to clear this up.

1. The meta will be available for 2 weeks.
2. The Tequat’l fight is permanent content; Rox and the dragon clue hunts will go away after 2 weeks.
3. “Boss Week” is a Shark Week joke.

He may not be impossible but the fact that his rewards don’t nearly justify the difficulty means nobody will be doing this event unless they raise the difficulty of everything else as well.

Not to mention, this boss is designed around cheap, old fashioned, game mechanics like high health pool, insta-death, and repetitive periods of loss of control. In reality this boss only offers more of a challenge due to the increase damage, health, and forced coordination. This was the wrong way to approach an open world event.

Biggest problem with the game for me by far. I hate how this game handles conditions. It honestly feels like Anet doesn’t even acknowledge their existence. It’s ridiculous.

Since this forum is being archived, we are moving the discussion to the main forums: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Condition-Catastrophe/

With the implementation of genuinely difficult content, the neglect of condition builds has hit a breaking point. The Tequatl fight perfectly signifies this in two major ways:

1. Bleed cap is hit almost instantly. I am lucky if I can sustain one or two bleeds throughout the fight.

2. The fingers are completely immune to conditions.

Even against the adds, bleeds are usually close to capped or capped. Admittedly, condition builds do perform better on adds than they do on Tequatl and fingers, but the problem is the same discrimination doesn’t apply to power builds in reverse (i.e., power builds aren’t strong against Tequatl and fingers but weak against other adds).

This just can’t stand anymore. An entire build archetype is effectively useless on world bosses. There is simply no way the bleed cap and content that’s designed for 80 players can coexist.

These things are collecting up in my bank and it seems like far to many are dropping as loot. Anyone else think the drop rate should be significantly lowered so that skills points don’t become the next broken currency? (Next after karma, which was given away far too freely).

OMG! You people will find anything to complain about.. Shut up already..pfft.. They will not become the next broken currency and no is your answer..

It is possible, I think. The citizens of Ebonhawke see themselves as Ascalonians and do not see Jennah as their queen. I think that expanding Ebonhawke would be the next logical step, after signing the treaty.
It would make me a happy player if ANet went that route.

Now that dungeons are not worth farming, I’m stuck with a huge zerg of 80s running from champ to champ in Queensdale. Lord forbid you kill a champ out of the order they are running in. Lots of “nice” comments in Map chat if you do.

Real underlying problem of GW2

Many people are pointing out the problems within the game they think are holding this amazing game mechanics back – either it’s lack of new permanent content, the overall sluggish response from devs, PVP not even close to becoming an e-sport, etc.

And they’re all right. Absolutely correct. But they’re not addressing the root of the problem.

And the root goes to this:

http://www.pcgamesn.com/guildwars/guild-wars-2s-future-we-dont-need-expansion-pay-bills

what do I mean by that? I mean that this company is full of wonderful developers, full of amazing ideas and talents from the industry. What this company is not is a good business. Clearly the director does not understand that as a company, success is defined by GROWTH, not SUSTAINABILITY.

Yes, sure. Perhaps your current in game payment system can sustain your business. Pays for the office space, the devs salary, etc. But that’s not the point, is it? You should be aiming higher – more revenue – that allows for buying power. It allows for you to expand the company. Bring in more talents. More manpower means more content, faster.

Every post from Jonathan and other devs almost seem like a cry of frustration to me. They’ve got great visions. They’ve got the means, the plans, yet not enough man power. It’s been a year and yes, there have been significant changes but none of it enough. And now the only expansion of the team that’s been publicly announced had been that a communications position was filled to chat it up with players on forum, and that there’s a team working to expand to china. That’s it. Shame on you, the management team and the board of directors or whoever you are who ran this business to ground.

Why is this game called Guild Wars 2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

In the lore the latest Guild War was fought between the Charr Legions (GUILDS) and the three kingdoms of Tyria (GUILDS).
So, if In the lore there was GUILDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS FIGHTING (IN WAR WITH) other GUILDSSSSSSSS, why is there no GvG in the game?

You didn’t really read what people wrote, and showed you, did you?
Human guild versus human guilds fought among one another during the Guild Wars. That stopped once all of humanity realized that the charr were an actual threat to their civilization. Charr legions are not guilds, they are factions within charr society that took shape once the original leader of the charr dies, and his children fought one another to take his place.

“Guild Wars 2,” was only used as a marketing strategy to get players of the original game to buy this one. Guild Wars 2 was never going to be a successor of Guild Wars, as the two are vastly different. Even Guild Wars 2’s story makes no real connection to the first game, save for the fact that the enemy from the first, and last, Guild Wars expansion is one we sometimes see now. That being Primordus’ minions, with whom we haven’t even fought against.

GvG, the game type itself, wasn’t the driving factor of this game. It never was. Marketing was, which is why we have this game called Guild Wars 2. It’s a shame really, because a lot of this confusion would have been cleared had ArenaNet decided to name this MMO a different name, as I personally believe it should have been.

In GW we seen them destroy the human kingdom and kill woman, children and elderly. Gwen’s story showed us they had human torture camps. They helped resurrect the titans that could have ended all intelligent life. They held humans for nearly a decade kept barely alive in small cages. They performed ritualistic human sacrifices.

They were bad guys. All of them. Then Pyre comes along and says “uhh yeah, our bad.” And we are just supposed to say “nah bro it’s cool”?

I tolerate them because they are a useful tool against the Dragons. They worked so well for the Lich almost ending the world and all.
