All we have to do is air drop some weed killer, not sure a fight is even needed!
130€ on Guild Wars 2, game, expansion and some gems. (Mostly SAB items)
But Arena Net have had much more from me over the years as I am a beta weekend GW1 player. I have the original plus addons and expansion each pre-ordered, plus all store outfits and one bank slot. I am not sure what that would add up to as it was long ago and I can not remember the prices.
I would hand over the money for a full price expansion every year if it had quality and quantity. But unfortunately Arena Net focus on the gem store and mediocre Living World, so they loose out on some possible income from me.
I’m referring to this: https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/614560129573351424
Please remember that a very large portion of your player base doesn’t agree with the court’s decision today.
A very large portion of Arena Nets player base are Quaggans and hate the colour blue. Point is that it is easy to make statements like this, if you do not back it up with facts.
Just because you are intolerant Magicus, does not mean everyone should tiptoe around you. Everyone is entitled to their view and beliefs not just you.
Really, how big is your screen, 4k?
I only play 1080p and everything looks beautiful.
The glider is likely going to be a skin you apply to the default, you probably will not get access to the skin till you obtain a glider in game.
This is the most likely direction as Arena Net can then start selling unique skins in the gem store.
Arena Net have immortalised a small handful of players in game who passed away, but many more were overlooked.
My brother was an avid Guild Wars player but passed away before the release of GW2. A chance to add a plaque/statue in a Guild Hall would mean a lot to the many players who have lost someone close.
This topic has gone on longer and possibly more passionately than the pre-purchase fiasco. Going so far as to even have in game protests, but unfortunately it still does not get the attention it deserves from the developers.
Beyond `No plans yet but someday´ we have almost no developer input in this subject. We need Josh telling us his plan for the next level, we need Colin giving us a broad idea when development can get started and we need more input from community relations! (Does that even exist at Arena Net any more?)
I pre-purchased HoT, I got the continue coin, you have my support, now give us what we want and bring back the box!
Could get yourself The Dreamer, it has rainbows.
I am all for equality, but dye would look fairly dumb.
Guild bank is not part of the Guild panel, you do not have to worry about the guild bankers being removed from towns.
Trait fall damage and fall on the right side.
It is possible to do without changing trait, but you need to know where to fall, you do not go all the way done all at once but kinda jump across to the the sticking out rocks.

Already a topic on this.

you misunderstand,
Obviously, but in my defence your last words were;
“The LA intro cutscene was the latest offender, pls stop”.
Clarification is key to understanding, perhaps you should explain better in future, no? After all your two statements contradict each other.
“I don’t want them to stop making cutscenes”
Well I don’t buy the age excuse WOW is old too and has a 64 bit option and WOW is Fisher Price graphics, this game needs updating far worse than WOW did.
Yet GW2 is a far more beautiful game than WoW could ever hope to be.
Still, engine upgrade is inevitable for the longevity of the game, plus the performance gains from DX12 and 64Bit system would be much appreciated by a lot for people.

At 1080p it did not look as nice as the game itself.
I think the issue is that the video was encoded poorly or some parts were mistakenly cut up and encoded more than once lowering the quality. I also did notice some frame drops in the video, still it was a great opener even if it was not as smooth and crisp as it could be.
In no way should Arena Net stop, I say keep making these little videos, they are great. Though they should try to make them as beautiful as the game itself, any loss of quality in the video does the game a disservice.
Almost half way to making a new race.
It will be hard for them to make such changes, but worth it for Guild Wars 2 longevity.
The city does look great, loving the attention to detail.
Thank you Arena Net.
I shall be pre-purchasing tomorrow.
You might want to google ‘heart of thorns presale’. Someone in the megathread linked two game store sites (around page 82 I think) where you can pre-order the expansion for way way way less… and apparently standalone.
Don’t do that, Arena Net posted not long ago that the only site offering preorders is their official website or get in their ingame store.
Any other source is not trustworthy.
Entitlement, salt, what popular word shall we get next?
Guild Halls?
Yea, they said something about that didn’t they?
Arena Net must have had it all planned out, stun people with pre-purchase, impress them with free base game, then knock it out of the park by revealing details on the much anticipated Guild Hall system.
They really screwed everything up, 4.5k topic on pre-purchase and every other topic is about pre-purchase and no one wants to talk about the topics they carefully planned out for ages. I just wonder if they really see it as the disaster that outsiders do.
Character slot or 800 gems, plus some unique digital item like a mini pet as an apology to the fans for all this drama.

News seems to be getting around.
Arena Net are not people, they are a company.
What next? Give the company a right to vote and freedom of religion?
Your comparison is not very good.
Eye of the North is the only other expansion and as such the only other game you can fairly compare it to.
Several of the HoT “features” are to be included in the base game and as such not part of the expansion. For example WvW Borderland, PvP Stronghold etc…
So bogotter make a video about the debacle.

Arena Net promoted Youtuber, any opinions can not be considered impartial or trustworthy.
How about actually watching the video and deciding if he’s impartial based on what he says instead? As a person who has been complaining about the $50 price tag, I find what he says to be mostly reasonable.
Can’t watch it even if the video were to agree with my point of view. He is supported by Arena Net and talking specifically about their game, I find that ethically wrong.

Entitlement, the go to word of the ill informed.
Old experiment with capucin monkeys, both get the same task, they have to return a stone. When both get a cucumber nothing is wrong, BUT wwhen 1 gets a grape and the other gets a cucumber all hell breaks loose.
Snip…
A great video, I am shocked that anyone needs fairness explained to them, but apparently some do, especially Arena Net.
That is your punishment for being a fan.
Arena Net’s decisions and reasoning are insane at times.
Snip…
I bought all that content with my original purchase of GW2, new players never did and as such never experienced it.
Purchase of HoT is not equal between loyal customers and new.
I find it surprising that such a thing needs explained when all you need is a little common sense to see it. You do not screw over your die hard fans, you give them the best deal instead as they are the ones that got you were you are.
I must admit the community relations and marketing departments are exceptionally bad at Arena Net.
So bad in fact that the topics constantly pop up complaining about them. I think they only hire idiots into the marketing department and the community relations department is essentially castrated by Arena Nets policies, effectively making them useless to the community.
May not be the intention to make the community mad, but they constantly make decisions that actively do that.

What have we seen that is worth so much? Not a lot.
Keep in mind many of the features people list are actually just going to be part of the basic game. Couple that with the fact we may only be getting three moderately sized maps total, I am not inclined to believe we have enough content to warrant the price.
I say hold off purchase and let Arena Net try to impress us, as of right now they have not done a great job. It is not like there is a rush and everyone has to buy as soon as possible.
Tell them not to bother for ten years till the final expansion, then you get everything else free.
this looks like marketing changed something late and community relations doesn’t know what to do about it.
Lets not get started on community relations, those guys are kinda useless.

Arena Net need to their act together, this marketing disaster is not going to cure itself.
It is not like this is hard to solve.

Well said OP, lets hope Arena Net pays attention.
Thank you for overcharging us Arena Net, I -really- appreciate that.
Stop being stingy Arena Net, is what you meant to say briggah.
I am fine with new players getting GW2 for free, but veterans deserve something of equal value.

Some people are getting confused here.
A lot of the features being listed as part of HoT are being added to the basic game, not HoT. Specializations, new Borderlands, Guild Halls etc. If you insist on listing what the expansion has, at least be honest and only include what the expansion specifically offers.
Personally I think the expansion is overpriced and blatantly so. I am fine with new players getting the base game for free, but veteran players deserve a reward of equal value, a character slot and a few gems would go a long way to covering that.

Needs a character slot and 400 gems before it is worth while.

Your whining is an example to us all Rylen, I am sure it will motivate us all to continue whining about things we care about, just like you.
I’m not whining, my post was to get people to stop whining by seeing that the price is reasonable and there is no need for QQ
In itself is is whining, you are no better than those you complain about.

To clarify: $50 is the price of the expansion. We included the core game as a free bonus to make it easier for new players to get into it.
But that is not what the text states in game when you go to purchase.

Guys, keep this in mind. There not gonna change it for one simple fact.
People have already been paying for it at this price.
No they will not change the price.
But they may add in a few things to make it worth while, so far the consensus is a character slot, a few also mentioned gems.

The content shown so far does not quite justify the price tag.
I could do with seeing more so I have a more informed opinion.
