[Suggestion] Crafting - Account wide

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aerinndis.2730

I don’t care if the crafting professions were account wide. I would love that the recipes you discover would be. You still have to level in that profession to be able to use that recipe so the challenge is still there. If your guardian finds an artificer or chef recipe and uses it, your thief chef or your warrior artificer should have that recipe available once they achieve the appropriate crafting level. I think nearly everyone has used a recipe only to find OOPS it is for the wrong crafting discipline and dang…. you have to reobtain it for the correct crafting profession.

Not being able to get a decent name

Aerinndis.2730

I have not had much trouble getting names I wanted. I did a lot of research on each race and the names they tended towards. Look at each race in the wiki to see the style of names they use. You can then google ie. Norse names etc. and look at what they mean to get something that fits what you have in mind. Usually I write down several I like before trying character creation but in most cases I have gotten nearly every one I wanted. Single name characters are often a lot more difficult than first and last name ones (asura were the most difficult for me).

Put down what race/profession and what name you were interested in and maybe folk will come up with some suggestions for you that one or more you may like and may be able to get. This a very helpful community and folk could at least direct you to sites that could help you get a name you love for your character.

[Suggestion] Tools and Toys "Wardrobe"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aerinndis.2730

Aerinndis.2730

I would welcome stacking gathering tools that were full (not used). I would also love to see in the wardrobe things like toys, everlasting tonics etc. What was done for minis I think was great. I use my minis a lot more because they are now a lot easier to use. I think the same would go for like items and folk may want to work at acquiring items such as everlasting tonics etc. because they won’t take up inventory space yet can be used quite easily.

I would want to get and use a lot more of these type of things if they did not clog my inventory and were hard to get at to use. I LOVED how they did the minis and think something similar for other items would increase the use/obtaining of such things for use. Win/win for everyone….

[Suggestion] Tools and Toys "Wardrobe"?

Aerinndis.2730

This might be me overreaching and all, and might be deemed “counterproductive” to the gem store, or might want to keep the wardrobe purely cosmetic, but since Permanent (and impermanent) Gathering tools are Account bound, why not create a Tab in the wardrobe to store and equip them?
Something like the finishers and the Mini-pets.
That would avoid the hassle of having to go to the bank to drop the gem store tools to use them on the character.
Temporary tools could have max stacks dependent on the material storage expansions, like if your material storage is the basic 250 then you could have 100 normal (not laurels) Axes of type, 100 of type B, etc. If material limit is 500, then you can double the gathering tools as well, but only equipping the regular amount at a time.

Same thing for toys, why not put them in a wardrobe tab with an “equiped” slot (like the minis), and then have a button or a hot-key to swap your weapons for it?

Here’s why you shouldn’t expect a toggle off option…when someone pranks you on April Fool’s Day do you get the option to opt out of it? No, so why should anyone expect to get the option to opt-out of A.nets April Fool’s Day joke on all of the players?

Here’s why you should expect a toggle off option:

When someone pranks you on April Fools Day, it never lasts a full 24 hours and when someone pranks you after 12 noon, traditionally, the joke is considered to be “on them”.

If you/ANet really do insist on people being pranked (whether they like it, or not) for a minimum period of time, then I guess the toggle could only become useable after, say, 5 minutes?

If people were asking to remove the prank entirely, from everyone, I would object to that as strongly as anyone.

No one has asked for that, however.

A toggle option hurts no one.

You must live under a rock, go check YouTube if you don’t believe me that some April Fool’s Day jokes last 24 hours, or do a Google search, it’s not unheard of. As the other person pointed out, this is a Global game, that operates in ALL time zones as well as both sides of the International Date Line, so no, in order for it to work properly it needs to run for a full 24 hours, if not longer(personally I think it should have run from 12:00:01 a.m. on the 1st until 12:00:00 p.m. on the 1st PST, but that would have meant a little extra coding).

Besides, I’ll bet you can log into any other online game that does April Fool’s Day pranks and not find a toggle off option either, it’s the companies game, can the employees not have fun at the expense of the players?

All the complaining also proves how so many people don’t have a sense of humor anymore. If you can’t laugh at anything or yourself, you’ve got serious issues that playing a game won’t solve. You can find the humor in ANY situation, even terrible tragedies, though people will think you’re insensitive, what other people think about you is unimportant, it’s what you think about yourself that matters.

Many others had April Fools pranks:

http://massivelyop.net/2015/04/01/your-mmo-april-fools-roundup/

It makes me wonder how many were QQing over those….

I am amazed at all the angst over the one day we KNOW this will happen for 24 hours and it will probably be the same the next year and the year after that… There are so many other things to do in that time if you are not into April Fools pranks. Read a book, take a walk, call up some friends, hug that special person/pet in your life.

All this makes me feel like a lot of folk have lost their inner child. If this is that serious to someone, they have the issues not Anet.

Kudos, Anet for another fun day. I got a lot of nice pics, had a lot of good chuckles and ran around like I did with my siblings as a kid and definitely had my inner child going wild.

First test I played a Mesmer and did just fine. Against the Wyvern she did quite well since she could range across the fire fields. I didn’t see any differences between the beta and current release on that.

Second test I changed to Revenant. It took some getting used to the skills and felt a bit clunky to me but I think as they refine it the skills hopefully will be a lot smoother to use.

I would prefer kill x number of these type of beasts + whatever champs instead.

personally i hope its an achievement based thing

Aerinndis.2730

If there were a tab for tonics, I would collect and use them a lot more. I don’t mostly because they take up space so unless it is something unusual I do not keep them.

Having a tab to stash things like the mad king scepter, kites, balloons etc. would be very nice and I would probably be more open to getting things like that as right now they clog up my inventory. I see some stuff I would like to have but don’t buy it exactly for that reason.

Great suggestion.

Ascended Crafting made me quit this game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aerinndis.2730

Aerinndis.2730

If crafting ascended made you quit the game, why are you still here? we don’t need another attention kitten on the forums.

Okay so let me break this down for you like this, Legendaries and Full Ascended Sets are like a woaman, If it’s easy it’s not worth it. You know what else is easy and everyone has it? Rares and Exotics…i mean once you hit 80 with your first character in your first week in the game BOOOM full exotics. Done

I started like a monthor two ago again with a thief, i have almost all the materials for my full ascended set(do miss like 2k silk scraps, but it’s fine), i leveled ANOTHER profession to 500(Already have weaponsmithing and armorsmithing) but the time gated pieces never bothered me. Why you might ask? Your topic is the reason…NOT EVERYONE IS ABLE TO JUST CRAFT THEM…so for me it’s even better ^^ i’m one of the few that can do this, that has the patience.

I don’t want my set NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW. I just want to work towards it.

Also the same with my legendarie, i want one, i have no precursor but i’m almost finished with the “Gifts”, i’m in no hurry, one day one will either drop, pop form the forge, or by the time i finish the gift with 250 powerfull bloods, i’ll have enough money to buy one.

But do you know why i have no problems with ascended/legendaries being so hard to get? CAUSE I ENJOY THE GAME, i do fractals, dungeons for fun, with guildies, have a laugh. Try a new build a new utilitie, do some bosses, farm a little, craft some rare dagger toss them in the forge…(cry a little in the corner cause i got no spark)

If you can’t enjoy the game now withouth ascendend/legendarie, you will not enjoy the game even if you get them.

What Akagami said.

Just because someone reaches 500 in crafting does not automatically entitle one to instantly produce Ascended gear overnight. It was designed to be time gated and something you work at beyond leveling in crafting. Just like Legendaries, you have to work to get the items you need and it is not overnight. It is all about patience and setting goals. I have made one set of ascended armor, one ascended weapon and am closing in on making my second set of ascended armor. I am also nearing having the materials to make my first legendary (bought the precursors, my RNG is NOT that good, lol). Would I like to be able to just slap ascended gear together overnight, certainly yes. Would it have as much meaning for me? No. I do look at what I have made and am very, very proud at the work I put into getting there. And I enjoyed the journey and what I learned in the process which is what the game is all about. I decided to make this stuff after I finished making Mawdrey II and realized if I had the patience to do that I could certainly make ascended or even a legendary.

If you are unhappy not having ascended/legendary gear you most likely will still not be happy if you had it. There is soooo much more to this game than having the top gear, though that is certainly a very nice goal to work for. Look for other things within the game that give satisfaction, set smaller short term goals and baby step your way to what you want. Surprisingly you may find you appreciate what you got a lot more that way and realize you had a lot of fun getting there. I have met the most amazing folk while working towards these goals. Now that is priceless.

What about GW2 attracts you?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aerinndis.2730

Aerinndis.2730

Definitely the no monthly fee is a good attraction but it is the exploring that keeps me coming back. The level of detail and thought put into small areas just amazes me. I have spots I have revisited and just stand and look around because they are so lovely. I also enjoy listening to some of the NPCs. There is a small message robot in Soren Draa (Metrica) that is worth following around as he delivers his messages to various NPCs. I had a good chuckle at what everyone had to say to each other. Definitely worth the time following him around as you see a relationship between two asurans develop. Simple things like that give such depth to this game.

I also think Anet has listened to what the players say. They have made some changes based on comments. I also like that they take chances and change things. Sometimes it works well and sometimes not so well but they show they are adaptable forward thinking. I see the game continuing to evolve.

The community is another huge plus. More than once I have gotten into groups who were trying to get through achievements and had an absolutely great time. We all helped each other through the parts we needed – everyone came out a winner. I also get a lot of satisfaction when exploring and if someone needs help I stop and help. Many times it has ended up helping each other through harder parts on a map. Overall the community is tremendous.

Solutions to silk prices.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aerinndis.2730

Aerinndis.2730

One or more of these:

  1. Add some sort of limited guaranteed daily source of cloth like, for example:
    • Cloth nodes you can gather with the sickle (its uses would be increased to 150):
      • Jute plants for jute.
      • Roaming thick-furred rams and dolyaks for wool (they’ll appear neutral and ignored by enemies, you get close to them and ‘use’ them like nodes, and the player chases them with the sickle shearing them waving the sickle with the same animation as using the Magnanimous Choir Bell, that’ll be hilarious).
      • Cotton plants for cotton
      • Flax for linen.
      • Worm cocoons for silk.
      • Spider cocoons for gossamer.
    • Bonus chests dropped by certain events.
    • Some object that spawns after certain events like with toxic spores.
    • Daily stocks on certain vendors that can be bought once a day for karma. E.g.: A daily pagage for each type of cloth from the clothier’s shop containing 15-20 of that type of cloth, shared by all clothiers; daily small stacks of 5-25 from certain Karma vendors in orr; daily packages of cloth in certain amounts for the collectable tokens on Silverwastes and Dry Top’s shops, a daily stack of 15-25 from the Southsun vendors you can buy with coin + karka shells, a daily stack from coin vendors that spawn after events scattered all over the world (so there’s a reason to check their inventories other than some crappy low level gear or a hardly useful consumable)
  2. Make a intermediate ‘blank insignia’ like the intermediate dowel for inscriptions, crafted with either all 3 armor basic materials. Or maybe have a different intermediate blank insignia based on the discipline, so an armorer would make insignia out of metal, a leatherworker out of leather and a tailor out of cloth. Once crafted, they’ll be usable by either discipline like now, though. So a Berserker insignia made with the armorer’s metal blank insignia would be usable by a tailor.
  3. Make intermediate armor materials for Armorsmith use leather instead cloth.
  4. Increase the changes of getting either basic material (and sometimes both) from salvaged gear, so instead always getting 1-3 leather from a leather aror, you could get 1-3 leather, 1-2 cloth, and if you are lucky enough, both 1-3 leather and 1-2 cloth.

In general, what it seems that would work is creating paths that would allow shifting some of the cost from cloth to other materials, and adding more intentional dedicated sources for cloth.

So if one of the paths has too much resistance, players can go for another path, which will balance and even out things on its own.

These are good ideas. I don’t mind going out to farm for what I need and these would add a nice variation. Also let us salvage the equipment we cannot sell or currently salvage so at least we would get something out of the item vs just destroying it if we do not need it. I would also like to see other items we need to craft having some alternate ways of gathering. For example fishing to get scales – the more difficult to fish for the better quality of scales you can get.

I really like the image of chasing a dolyak or ram to farm it as a node, that gave me a good chuckle.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Aerinndis.2730

I haven’t done this in a while, but there is a dynamic event (linked below) in Brisban Wildlands that spawns multiple giants about every 15 min if you go with a party. Have they changed this?

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Help_U.N.I.T._find_and_destroy_the_Inquest

It is still running. However, it can bug out if folk go on to complete the whole event and take out everything well in advance of U.N.I.T. instead of just going with him and helping him. When it bugs, U.N.I.T. often will be standing by the containment unit, sometimes with Wistt and event says you have to destroy the containment unit but nothing will proceed any further. At that point you should submit a bug ticket. They are pretty great at resetting it quickly, especially if you can tell them what IP it is on (put in /IP in chat to find that out).

If you just kill the giant(s) and let U.N.I.T. go on his way by himself and the event fails, it does respawn a bit faster than if he completes it but it is only by a few minutes.

I have avies at the Toxal Bog and in Nageling and alternate them working on my giant slayer. I try to do a couple every day. So far I am up to 435. I have met people who are nearly done, so it is doable. Just very slow.

I am assuming some things like the hang gliding, once learned, will be particular only to the expansion region. It would be nice to know what things would be specific only to that region and what could also be done throughout the rest of the world.

I think it would be neat to be able to use some of the mastered skills outside of the new area in the rest of Tyria (*cough*hang gliding*cough*) and it would also be a good marketing tool for folk to see what they would gain by getting the expansion.

I am definitely looking forward to the ‘deep dives’ into the features!

I was a bit disappointed that there will be no new race but a new region does lend to entry of new race or races eventually.

Changing Maps & LFG

If you see an event you want in LFG that is not occurring on your map, join that group. You know you are not on the same map when you are not seeing the pictures of the folk in your group. Right click on top picture and select “join in x.” If the map is not full you should join that map and be able to see the folk in your group.

If it is a taxi to a map usually they will ask that you leave the group upon getting to the map so they can taxi more in. If the map is full you will get a notice saying it is full. You can continue to right click and try to join the party in the hopes something opens up on the map. You also might want to have your party open in chat to see what they are saying or to let them know the map is full but you are still trying.

Hope this helps.

A similar mechanism that JLHiggs mentioned would be a nice reward for folk that stick it out on a map and do the groundwork.

The Wiki answer is:

“Asura have a strong sense of family and extended family, they affectionately refer to their children as “progeny” or “offspring”. They also venerate their parents, and grandparents.2 Asura traditionally cremate their dead. Asura tend to practice serial monogamy, in that they have a serious romantic relationship with only one other asura at a time. Most of these relationships are equal partnerships which often (but not always) have a firm, pre-determined end date. Most often, such relationships come out of two asura who fall in love with the same beautiful concept. These marriages of the mind produce rapid development of ideas, increased conceptual paradigms, and/or children. Relationships that break up tend to feature more fights about who gets the inventions than who gets the kids.3"

Deal breaker for me then, since I have been unable to get Seeds of Truth, via solo or groups, sigh. Now trying to figure out the obscure how in Tyria do I get the Bloodstone Pot Pie to complete that event. Frustrating all around for me on this one. Not sure this is now worth any more effort.

You can only buy those trinkets from the vendor if you have already finished the relevant achievements, they’re more there for people that want multiple copies.

Not sure what you mean by ‘relevant’ achievements. Please specify which achievements. If it is current achievement to get it then ok. Something to work for. Seeds of Truth does not seem achievable for me currently since I cannot finish that solo and not been able to find groups who want to go for it. Vague does not get it here for me, sorry.

I was hoping we could buy Wynne’s Locket with this new episode as an alternative to completing the achieves for Seeds of Truth. I have not been able to manage the Dodgy Crowd, Invisible Infiltration or Wicked Rodeo. Solo has been impossible for me and I have looked for groups trying for this but been unsuccessful – not a lot seem interested in completing it. It is disappointing not to have an alternative route to get this item to complete the collection.

Tried solo and there was no real way to see the mechanics with all what was going on. Could not keep lights lit, could not damage the bulbs and gave up solo after I died. Went in with a group and was able to manage it since there were enough of us to get the fires lit and eventually defeat the boss. For me this was not a solo type of event.

Not been able to get Dodgy Crowd or Wicked Rodeo in addition to the invisible infiltration stuff. I am waiting for Wynne’s thingy to show up for a purchase with bandit crests. That is the only way I will finish as I got everything else needed.

7 Clovers and 7 Obsidian shards. Very good in my book. I like you had a choice of what you could select.
