Suggestions Wasted effort?

Aidan Savage.2078

Is making suggestions on the forums a wasted effort? I’ve seen other people make suggestions and I’ve made a few but I rarely if ever see any response from someone at ANet to them.

Given that this is the official GW2 forum I’m surprised ANet folks don’t post here more. Oh wait, I forgot… they are posting on Reddit instead. Does that make Reddit the true GW2 forum?

Generally speaking, you wont get a reply from anet. There are exceptions, such as Lawton if you have questions or suggestions for the API system, or John Smith (or is it Jon? Havent seen him post in a while) if you happen to post a thread that’s incredibly economically…. dumb. Lookin’ at you tinfoil-wrapped ecto threads.

Frankly, that’s a god kitten smart idea on their end. You have any idea how often them posting “we’ll look into it” has players turning it into “we’ll have it by the next update”? That being said, however, the devs DO read the forums, and the great ideas will be noted and discussed internally. Any action they take on it we’ll be clueless about until it comes to fruition, or fails so completely they feel it’s worth mentioning that right now it’s something that’s not possible.

So… I had more to this post, but that was about 3 hours ago when I started typing it, then got distracted by something until now…. oh well…

2 gold for dailies-- did it work?

This games economy was designed from the very start all those years ago to be broken and unfixable without the entire thing being taken down and all the items removed from the cash shop and recreated.

It was seen at the start of the game and nothing can be done without a complete overhau or rather a simple change.

The Auction House system is were the fault lies in this game because unlike the system that works in every other game Anet decided to change what wasn’t broken at all. There is no 12h, 24h, or 48h auction limits the whole point of an auction is that it isn’t eternal your buying time to try and sell your goods and in Gw2 once the listing price is paid that item stays up for an eternity people who have literally quit the game ages ago still have items on the auction house. Items which are set to the highest points of inflation the economy in this game doesn’t breath it’s not free and isn’t a real economy.

It will never right itself and the inflation will never stop until the missing basic function of every auction house real or otherwise is added to this game. That being your auction can actually fail to sell thus mailing the items back to you.

Oh! Because this really prevented inflation in all these other games. /s

What I don’t like is that there is no safe direct trade system, everything must go through the TP and the thousands of bots in there, but that’s a discussion for another topic.

There will never be a “safe” direct trade method. That’s why there’s the TP. You know EXACTLY what you’re buying and getting. Player to player? You THINK you know what you’re getting.

Can we hope that this leads to being able to type in numbers larger than 250 for buy orders?

I really don’t understand why this limitation is in place. You can instant buy or buy ourder 250 items, and get those items from 250 separate stacks of 1. If I need 268 leather, why can’t i just type in 268? The items will still end up in stacks of 250 and 18 before they get to my inventory.

That isnt the limit change being tested. You probably should make a thread on that if you want it discussed.

I wish they would code a Linux client for GW2. Many people have grown to despise MS and Windows more and more. I think it’s a good time for game developers in general to move to supporting native Linux games as an option.

Linux generally isnt a good gaming platform. It’s also less likely for existing games be recoded/developed just so that they support linux.

It’s a balancing act between number of sales and profit-per-sale. That concept is true for pretty much all businesses, that you have to figure out where the sweet spot is.

I’m guessing Anet is pretty confident that they’ve got it, or else they’d lower prices. Whatever I think of their prices, I can’t imagine they’re making those decisions totally blind to their sales metrics.

The price of the upgrade extractor makes that seem suspicious. Unless it has some bizarre psychological motivation in encouraging people to spend on other things.

As I’ve said in other threads though, it isn’t just a matter of balancing sales and profit-per-sale. They also need to encourage customer loyalty and, by extension, word-of-mouth sales. I don’t see the gem store doing that very well.

Time is money. The extractor was for saving people 50-80g by paying a cheap amount of cash vs spending hours upon hours re-earning that gold.

The only way this would be feasible is if such a mode meant you did not unlock waypoints, pois, vistas, HPs, couldnt interact with anything, was limited to the map it was activated in (map transitions automatically give you a waypoint), and when deactivated, it sends you back to the exact point you activated it.

Is this stat locked behind the RAID system? Or am I able to get this stats without having to beat my head on the wall of PvE Elitism? I am a hardcore WvW player so I do no prefer to be funneled into doing a game mode I do not like. You have the Laurel system.. why is this not available in the Laurel menu?

Only available from raids. That being said, however, if you’re wanting it because of the boon duration, consider getting the exotic version instead so that you can slot the plat doubloon into it. It’ll be some stat loss compared to the ascended trinket, but the doubloon would give a substantial amount of boon duration over what the ascended would anyways (~34% with exotic trinkets plus plat doubloons, minus the backpiece, vs 18.73% with ascended trinkets, again minus backpiece).

It’s not just that cheeze, it’s also the fact that something these people perceive as “simple” like changing the id parameter of something, is likely far more complicated than they could realize. Especially when it can cascade into something faaaaaaaaar beyond what people originally thought. This can happen regardless of how “neat” and “proper” the coding is.

Dual pistols on mesmer (or every weapon available on every class)

Alt weapon set on Engi and Eles (but not scrappers or tempests)
No alt weapons on revs!

I know, “engi and eles don’t need alt weapon sets” but they do! Ele for instance has 4 attunements yes, but can only trait 3 (2 if you go for arcane or tempest), so if you’re not traiting all 4, most likely you rarely use them, which means you don’t exactly have 4 weapons in 1. Scrappers are op anyway, with their stealth/stuns and general annoyance, so they don’t need anything else, but vanilla engis do! Revs….why is it that kits and attuments are considered different “weapons”, but stances aren’t?

Thieves….delete entirely or give us auto deploy stealth traps with no CD or limit on the number you can place in wvw.

I agree that Revenants should be limited to only 1 weapon set. They can freely switch between 2 sets of utility skills, so why should they also be allowed to switch between 2 weapon sets? But eles should also be limited to 1 weapon set. You said it yourself, they can only trait 3 attunements, they trait 2 if they take arcane or tempest, at absolute worst they only trait 1 attunement and take arcane an tempest. Best case though, 3 traited weapon sets. Standard, 2 traited weapon sets, absolute worst case is still 1 traited weapon set and 3 untraited weapon sets. They do not need a second weapon set due to always having access to 4 attunements.

Simple – They can swap between 2 utility sets, but those utility sets are fixed, and 60% of the skills on each set are absolutely useless most of the time. Now, if you had one weapon slot that could be fully customized like the utility bar on every other class, THEN they’d be comparable.

So you’re telling me that all other classes can put in 3 utility skills and an elite that are always useful? Limiting weapon sets on some classes is an attempt to balance how many skills each class can bring to any fight. And regardless of whether or not you think all your skills are useful, that doesn’t change the fact that with 2 weapon sets and 2 utility sets, Revenants have more skills available in fights than 6 of the other professions. He should be locked to 1 weapon set like Eles and Engineers are.

They extensively tested the Revenant – at first he WAS only one weapon set. But that was complete garbage in actual play. Also – Revenants only have 5 weapons available (Staff, Hammer, Sword, mace, and half an axe)

And yes, all other classes CAN put in 3 utility skills and an elite that are always useful, and can synergize far better than the Revenant utilities, even with rev utility swapping.

Half the time, the rev cant ACTIVELY use their Stance skills without further reducing how effective they are.

If you’re trying to make inventory management easier, specifically salvaging, you know you can type in the search bar of your inventory right? Just make sure to activate the salvage kit after the search bar gains focus. It’ll start the salvage thing, but let you type still. By typing “fine,” “ork,” and “rare,” you’ll restrict your inventory to displaying anything with those letters in their description.

Is it possible to get mystic forge recipes?

in API Development

Posted by: Aidan Savage.2078

Aidan Savage.2078

Though it does bring up an interesting conundrum- should it just be recipes that have defined (semi-defined for promotions n stuff) inputs and outputs (ie actual recipes that use the forge as the “workstation”), or should it be all mf recipes that are currently known on the wiki? For ones such as the random forging of equipment, I understand why those you would be reluctant to do. That’s partially why I suggested having those recipes essentially be generic in format:

//Mystic Forge recipe
{
type: "Exotic Weapon",
output_item_type: "Weapon", //this format would necessitate a couple new fields probably,
// but should be workable, being a new endpoint
output_item_count: 1,
ingredients: [
{
input_item_type: "Weapon",
input_item_quality: "Exotic",
count: 4
},
],
id: XYZ,
}

Recipes for the random forging would have two “duplicate recipes” as a result of being able to get a given quality level by using an equal quality, or the one immediately preceding it. This would mean that, instead of 9999999999999999999999999999999 recipes, you’d have…. 19×2×4plus19 for specific weapons (2 for each quality level besides basic, just 1), and then 9 “generic” ones that are basically 4 random weapons of a given quality. Armor is…. 18×2×4plus18 and the 9 generic as well I believe. Trinkets are similar as well. Still a hefty amount of work, but substantially easier than having to itemize everything.

edit: stupid shortcut formatting

You are perhaps over-emphasizing the role of items being sold to NPC vendors with regard to inflation. Far more gold is made selling on the TP. than by selling to vendors.

Um… the TP doesnt make gold. At all. It’s a net-loss system that removes gold because EVERY transaction reduces the amount of gold in the game. Additionally, it transfers wealth from player to player. Generally, both those acts would be working against inflation.

Toughness and armor are subject to diminishing returns. Eventually it’s going to get to a point where adding more vitality, as an example, is going to provide a higher buffer than what an equal amount of toughness would give (IE there’s a point that 50 vitality, 500 health iirc, is going to be BETTER than 50 extra toughness).

aidan and trogdor – much appreciated. that site is far better at doing what i am looking for.

i do not wish to denigrate the gw2 wiki site, as i am amazed at the volume of data available here, and its accuracy.

i was able to find 16 things that need to be done for the kudzu II, but there are no base materials listed for each one or in total. 250 elder planks are one, and then 250 elder staves is another. i’m not sure how many logs will be needed for each stave, but this is probably another 3,000 elder logs.

i will repost when i get done all of the base materials required. it is really getting up there.

Part of it is just how the wiki is structured. When you look at the base ingredients of kudzu, it’s only going one level down in crafting materials for most things, while it’ll go down to raw materials for anything that’s refined. It does not go any further because the assumption is made that you’ve ALREADY gotten the precursor. The same is true of leaf of kudzu- it assumes you’ve already obtained the major materials from the previous precursor iteration and only gives you what’s needed for THIS step. That’s why a site such as gw2efficiency is so much better for crafting goals. It goes off your inventories to calculate where you are in the steps, what you have, and what you need to finish.

Speaking of which, if you’ve not done so already, navigate to Services→My Account→Applications tab and create a “master” API key. Load it up in an account at GW2E (obviously dont use the same password n kitten), and you’ll not only be able to track your crafting progress, it’ll also be able to tell you just how much gold you’re sitting on in character inventories (NOTE: IT CANT TELL IF SOMETHING IS SOULBOUND, so gold values may be incorrect if you have multiple exotic armor sets and whatnot), your bank, and your collection tabs. Additionally, you can view your trading post orders, and it’ll highlight anything that’s over/underbid at a glance, so you dont need to check each listing by hand. Additionally, you can track stuff as well, useful for getting an idea of what the price swings are so you can put in a less pricey bid on stuff you can wait for.

https://www.gw2bltc.com/en/item/29172-Leaf-of-Kudzu

Have a look at gw2bltc.
If you click on “SL” (its next to the small blue shopping cart icon), the drop down list will give you the mat requirements, which includes both crafting and collections.

As does gw2efficiency if you mark your desire to craft rather than buy. Additionally, GW2E can track what you’ve purchased in the way of materials and account for the new resources.

Would it be possible to create an endpoint of “generic” MF recipes that are discovered, or are at least already available on the wiki? Such as the Gifts, promotions, side-conversions (stats), etc, where instead of the massive inputs, it’s more along the lines of text output itemizing the “ingredients.”

As for the timetable, I’d say that once it’s put on the wiki, release it in the API, as once it’s on the wiki, it’s likely to spread to a large number of players.

thank you for your wish of luck. mine is about 130%, so i could use some more.

The base materials for Kudzu WILL NOT tell you the materials needed to craft it’s precursor. It just tells you that you NEED the precursor. You want to know the amount of materials needed to craft the precursor? Go to the precursor’s page and look at it’s base materials. Or dont use the wiki because it’s crappy for such things and use gw2efficiency instead. For example- https://gw2efficiency.com/crafting/calculator/30685-Kudzu
Shows that it actually saves you about 300g by outright buying leaf of kudzu as opposed to crafting it.

Pretty sure they said something along the lines of “if kitten doesnt happen and/or change, precursor crafting might be out by the end of the year.” And guess what? kitten DID happen and/or change and those plans changed along with them.

How are there people who still see statements of potential possibilities (“this may or may not happen at some point”) and somehow twist it so hard in their head it comes out as an inviolable Word Of God Fact (“this WILL happen by the end of the year”)?

Salvage anything green or lower, check TP on rares, sell if they’re going for more than the value of a single ecto (was ~52 silver last I checked) and salvage if not (or sell if not feeling lucky about salvage). Exotics are generally the same as rares The exception is for ones that are hella expensive because of runes or sigils. Dont just sell the item off as is. CHECK THE UPGRADE PRICE first. If the gear is selling for 9g, the upgrade might be selling for 10-11g. You gain more profit by salvaging with a BLSK and selling the upgrade. Otherwise you may end up selling to people like me who buy exotics, salvage the upgrades and then make profit off selling the upgrade

No, it doesnt. It has multiple meanings as does staves. Staves IS the correct term that should be used, as kitten near every dictionary I can think of shows. Staff has two meanings people are going to be most familiar with: “staff” the human resource, and “staff” the wooden stick. The plural of the first is ALSO “staff” in most uses, though "staffs"is applicable. The plural of the second is staves. But people butcher the English language like it’s a friggin cow, so at this point, who the hell really cares? It’s not being changed.

Disable special bag features

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aidan Savage.2078

The issue is when other stuff has gotten all up in your special bag due to overflow. Sorting should get it out and put what should be there in (except for items in invisible bags; the entire point of those is complete isolation from the rest of the inventory). Instead, sorting does nothing, so the unmatched stuff stays in and the matched stuff elsewhere stays elsewhere.

Not to mention it would be nice to be able to do things like sort by rarity, type for weapons and armor, etc.

Then you dont want to DISABLE the special functions of those bags. You want the special functions to IGNORE items that do not match the requirements OF those bags. In other words, when you compact your inventory, you want, say, a masterwork sword to pass from the junk bag it looted into, through your rare category bag (the fractal one), and go into the masterwork category bag (again, the fractal one), but no further.

I agree something like that would be nice, with the exception of invisible bags. Those should not be able to be sorted, compacted, or ANYTHING. That’s generally the point of those bags. So unfortunately, any looted crap that gets into those bags would have to be manually dealt with.

Sorting I kinda agree with. It should sort by “meta” group (equipment, nourishments, materials, etc), then quality levels, and then finally subsequent categories. IE: equipment->ascended, exotic, rare, masterwork, fine, basic-> armor, weapons, trinkets->sorted by slot. However, if you have the specialty bags, sorting the inventory SHOULD sort those bags, as well as sort INTO and OUT of those bags (ie takes all not-rares out of a rare-loot bag and puts all rares into it).

Ideally, there’d be a “manage” option that would, in order- deposit materials, sort the inventory, and then compact the inventory (specialty bags would compact to “first slot” and generic bags would be able to compact PAST specialty bags).

Oh, and for the love of god, similar management options for the bank. PLEASE. I want to be able to hide the bank tabs (except the “buy more” one, for obvious reasons), deposit materials from the bank tabs, and sorting bank as well (overall and individual tabs).

Anyways, basically, as long as you arent selling the application (a donation button is a verrrrrrry hazy gray area that Gaile Gray would likely know, or can get the answer to quickly), provide proper attribution to the source, and not imply it’s anything “official,” Anet generally wont care. Lawton’s probably the same, until you try to make a program that sends billions of requests for every iota of information available from the api server about Grumble Cakes.

Yes, I’m aware this is an old thread, but the information added bears mentioning, as it’s still a valid concern for others than the OP.

edit: apparently three consecutive *’s are considered a “page break” and it gives a full width dividing line. Huh. Neat.

stat_choices in items

Giver’s likely has that many because it’s got 2 singular stat types (weapon/armor), 4 dual stat types (armor/weapon/trinket/suffix[<-snowflake upgrades if I remember correctly]), and then 4 triple stat types (same groups as dual). This is more than likely a result of the fact that the WEAPONS give different stats entirely than the armors and whatnot.

does anyone do Tripple Troubble anymore?

TTS does it 3-4 times a day typically.

To be fair, the spinal blade backpieces are more likely the “I was there” type thing. And you do realize blade shards DO drop from aetherblade enemies still? I can think of 2 places where you can find that category of enemies still.

So would it be possible to expand on the numbers we can have within a Guild.
We have a community server based guild and is full 500/500 and although we do regular clean ups on those afk for more than 2 weeks we have still got to the point of having to turn away new members.
Now i am sure there are not to many guilds who are maxed, but for those who have this issue could Anet please increase Licence upgrade to 750/1000 .
That would be great if you could look at doing this.
Thank you
Omegazone.

Consider being a multi-guild community. TTS is, and has been around for a while now (I first joined well over 2 years ago). Granted, we have a full capacity teamspeak license, so guild chat tends to be sparse.

A slider to change how often buffs proc dialogue would be appreciated.

I think this would be an awesome idea… as my Urge to Kill is Rising as well. Every ten seconds with my Thief. Every… Ten… Seconds…

-.-"

Dont bump a thread that’s almost a year old. ESPECIALLY when anet’s given us an option to deal with the reason this thread was made.

This should be put into the game discussion subforum, not the API Development subforum. I dont think Lawton can do much to help you with this.

1. The single uses arent better by a long shot in the overall scheme of things. The fact that I can place down both at the same time is hardly a point in the matter. Get over it.

2. Another non-issue. Easily resolved when you start getting in the habit of buying a SET of harvesting tools each time. Or do what every other person who spends several thousand gold on stuff does- buy permanent tools.
