FYI, this belongs under bug reports, not gen discussion that being said, they probably thought as you did that as long as it was made and worn, it’d count, and skipped over doing a “cavity search” of the code. Unfortunately, in practice, the achievement likely counts when an UNbound legendary item BECOMES bound. Items that are BoA probably get ignored as a result, as those would also include the gifts n stuff I believe.

Looks like the destroyer scythe is part of the new drop table.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4g3t53/so_i_found_this/d2gv996

Don’t see any listed on the TP according to gw2tp though.

http://db.dulfy.net/search/scythe
he is lieing. it would be in the API now if he would have found one

Ah. Thanks for pointing that out.

Aren’t api tools disabled because of a bug?

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/api/HEADS-UP-v2-characters-temporarily-disabled/first#post6120219

Edit: https://www.gw2bltc.com/en/

Only the character API is disabled. Items is still working.

I’m inclined to believe the Destroyer Scythe did not get generated, but the regular Scythe might have. Its entry is here:

http://db.dulfy.net/item/36333

Is it possible that someone DID get the destroyer scythe, but because the character api endpoint was disabled, it wasnt exposed to the item api endpoint?

So then, let me ask one more question: Is it “merely coincidence” that John Smith has not answered me, or the community, with any explanation within 24 hours of this post being created? Since you like to pick apart my issue, let me be more specific: Is it merely coincidence that he hasn’t replied on how the involved parties (may or may not be a dev, directly) knew to begin dumping the items in question, and steadily lowering the price over the course of a month, or two?
-snipping the tinfoil-

You’ve gotta be pretty ignorant to not realize that JS HAS answered you. The mere fact he responded to you with just a picture of people wearing tinfoil hats should be enough for you to come to the conclusion that you’re full of kitten as others have stated.

The only other reason for this sort of ignorance is that you’re one of the people who hoarded those skins and basically lost hard with this patch.

what game is CO short for?

Champions Online I’m guessing.

Personally I’d just be happy with being able to dye weapons. I like most of the ascended weapon designs but hate having to always use the red ones for the most part which clash with everything. And being able to dye weapon effects would be sweet.

Use the MF recipe to switch it to the stat type that has the color you want, and then swap back to the stats you USE, then skin with the color you WANT. Profit.

edit: necros, guards, and mesmers are a handful of professions who have a color theme more than the other professions.

Should any skins be exclusive?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aidan Savage.2078

Aidan Savage.2078

I’m starting this thread as a discussion because ANet seem to be genuinely listening to the community and trying to give players what they’ve been asking for. They have made two decisions lately that I consider controversial, and I thought it would be useful to provide community feedback:

1) Okaying the SAB tribulation exploit, which devalued the tribulation skins (in terms of exclusiveness, but not gold value).

This was not “okay” in the way you believe. It was “okay” in the same way guardians running Symbolic Avenger were “okay” to use it, even if the trait meant you did +10% damage for EACH symbol the target stood in (13:00 teq anyone?). They werent going to sanction anyone for it while making people know that it WAS exploiting a bug in the game, but they made kitten sure you understood it was being fixed and would be gone at some point. There’s a difference between using an exploit is allowed, and use it if you want, it’s getting fixed asap.

2) Added old skins to the mystic forge, which devalued them (in terms of exclusiveness and in terms of gold value).

Their value is approximately zero. It is the individual players that create an artificial value. Additionally, the skins/weapons they added, are weapons that players can no longer obtain for themselves no matter HOW LONG they played as a result of those skins being in LS1. There’s a vast difference between being “exclusive due to difficulty” (trib stuff) and being “exclusive because you didnt play then” (most LS1 stuff as well as ‘decommissioned’ gemstore stuff).

I’d also say that this goes back to previous skins which were exclusive such as the Fervid Censer and the Wizard Hat.

See above.

I just thought that, as ANet are listening, it might be a good idea to talk. This seems to be an issue where there is division among players, but both sides can’t be made perfectly happy.

For me, I think that the trib skins and the Fervid Censer should have remained exclusive, for the sole reason that there were alternative palette swaps available, which seemed a good compromise. Things like the Wizard Hat and Halloween skins, I’m less sure.

Frankly, who cares whether a skin is no longer “exclusive and expensive”? Just the fools who didnt diversify or capitalized when they should have. AB skins? As I said above, there’s a vast difference between the two intents behind the word “exclusive.”

Did I miss an Anet statement somewhere? Last I checked the Devs had stated that the gem store would only offer new outfits – as armor pieces were being reserved for in game rewards.

Seeing as the chaos gloves are armor pieces (and currently being sold in the gem store), I’m assuming Anet made some elaborate, frivolous yet sweeping statement on why they’ve decided to backtrack on this commitment -.-

Any links people?

Grenth hood, bunny ears, the various glasses, bunch of other stuff. You know? A bunch of stuff that was rotated out and said to come back eventually? Just because they brought kitten back that PEOPLE HAVE DEMANDED BE BROUGHT BACK does not mean they’ve gone and backtracked on all future (big clue ignorant people dont care about) skins being outfits. All this kitten is RETURNING stuff.

TBH this thread is frivolous and should be closed. It’s not going to lead anywhere constructive anyways.

Could it be possible that there are “markers” people have found in the game data after an update?

Also, since this game belongs to Anet, maybe they inject and remove items that don’t belong to anyone to stimulate the economy. Ive wondered about this for a while now. If prices get out of hand and people play the market hard enough, or if prices become ridiculous, they step in to “normalize” it.

If they do step in, it’s not be directly creating “nothing” from something. They’ll create new supply and/or demand sources of those things, not directly dump those items into the market.

Crowdfunding project.

Aidan Savage.2078

Thats why a crowfundig COULD (A big if, of course) work. Great crowfunding projects aren’t about money, but about accurately discovering the people’s interests, and crystal clear showing development and ideas.

Of course, all of this hasn’t a miligram of weight if the company doesn’t want to support such kind of initiative.

Crowdfunding cant work. It never could work. Anet’s not picking and choosing projects based on money alone. There’s such a thing as limited human resources. Nor is it as simple as throwing more people at a problem. All in all, crowdfunding is absolutely useless to us and Anet, far more so when Gaile’s stated unequivocally that Anet will have nothing to do with any crowdfunding projects people start. Furthermore, she’s stated that if you want to provide anet more money, then take advantage of the gemstore to do that.
You want them to know our interests? Post it on the forums like everyone else posts their ideas. Want to know more about development progress? Tough kitten, you arent going to know anything until they’re close to done with it.

Video about Level 80 Boost

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aidan Savage.2078

So now a new player can join the game, use this boost and get instantly to level 80.
On top of that, it also gives you a complete set of soldiers armor, weapons, trinkets, food items, utility items, and unlocks certain waypoints in every level 80 map?
This is just… what?!
Don’t get me wrong, I like the new shared slot, but what’s the point of even playing the game if you’re instantly given everything you need? Doesn’t that just inherently defeat the purpose of playing the maps and lower-level content?

Is Anet that desperate for new players? Please help me understand, because I’m so lost on this one.

You didnt bother reading about it did you? You probably just saw what it was called and decided to come kitten on the forums.

Now, since I’ve already used mine, lets see if I can remember the different things about it:

  • It requires HoT to obtain.
  • No length of time was given for obtaining the item (meaning it can be a limited availability item)
  • It gives ONE SW waypoint, and 3 waypoints in regions of Orr, one in each map
  • what does it matter what kind of gear it gives? downscaling’s going to render it a moot point

As for the rest, I’m going to chalk your points to “I dont understand why anet made this item” and recommend you realize that there ARE veteran/advanced players (which the item is directly targeted towards) who simply use ToKs to skip leveling in the first place to get a character to 80 and usable (for them).

Assassin's Annihilation 2000 leech bug

Aidan Savage.2078

Just what the title says. Rev’s Assassin’s annihilation trait (Grandmaster in devastation trait line) is leeching for 2000 (from the front too) when you trigger it with a projectile.

To repeat, this bug only happens when you use a projectile skill while having assassin’s annihilation traited. This applies to revenant’s hammer auto, sword 2 (precision strike) etc.

To clarify the bug, it does not leech for the 1800+ damage, but inflicts siphon damage of that level. The health restoration is on par with what the trait is supposed to do. Additionally, it will do it’s normal amount of siphon damage in certain situations, that I’ve noticed tends to be when I proc the sigil of fire effect on my hammer.

1) though moderator’s seem to be quite generous when it comes to giving infractions lately for comments that don’t blindly praise everything A.Net does, getting banned still takes some effort. And I don’t know if it’s a good idea to have those people participating in the discussion

They’re “generous” when it’s someone clearly breaking the rules. Saying “your kitten kittening sucks, go die” is vastly worse than saying “XYZ arent good things, ABC being the reasons.” You dont need to “blindly praise” them to avoid infractions.

2) why should someone not owning GW2 care at all about upcoming changes and the direction the game takes!?

Really…? If people not owning a license to the game didnt care about new things coming to the game, who would be the new players that begin playing the game? Or are they all secretly advanced AIs based off cleverbot?

I admit that the reddit format (though I really dislike it and find it very tedious to follow a discussion there) might suit a Q&A better than a classical forum, but… they could also implement some sort of live chat to this page. Shouldn’t be too much work nowadays. And for moderation, they could only make it accesible for those sessions = no need for perma live moderation.

So I think it all comes down to your last point…. reasons

Changes to the site, at least the forums, in such a way that would allow such interactions are, unfortunately, resigned to the pit of things called Technically Impossible. Main reason being that they’d have to completely restructure the BTS workings of the forums. Coincidentally, it’s the same reason they cant fix the search function.

… and what about the legendary short bow? Only two classes can use short bow and their skill assets aren’t very viable in pve or pvp.

For whatever reason, they decided to work on the shortbow instead of one of the more popular weapons, which would have made sense to me. I don’t know why they did it. Maybe so many people absolutely hated the current legendary shortbow that they decided it just had to be given a second option. That’s my best guess.

Because Shortbow was likely the CURRENT one they had been working on when future legendaries got axed? As for the OP’s “complaint” we arent giving explicit details about changes because they seriously dislike when people attempt to use such information for personal gain at an unfair level.

WP was talking about it in one of his recent videos, if you really have no use for the coins yourself, you can advertise your services to some other guild. They pay you whatever the agreed rate is, you join their guild, buy a ton of clouds, and then quit. Kind of complicated, but apparently allowed behavior. It’d be nice to just be able to TP stuff like that.

It’s not allowed on the LFG, if that’s what you’re talking about. Personally, if I see that sort of crap on the LFG, I’ll join your party, tell you it’s a sanctionable offense, report you for lfg abuse, and then remove your party from lfg and leave.

All the best pvp builds require HoT that makes it kinda p2w tbh.

Not quite. I’m not really into PvP, but from what I’ve heard some people made it into legendary divisions with a free account, which means no elite specializations.
Yes, in general elite specs are stronger than the base class. Anet never denied it, they always meant elite specs to be superior to regular ones (guess why they’re called elite). From what I’ve understood, future elite specs should be on par with the current ones, so there’ll be no more power creep once you’ve got at least the first GW2 expansion and one elite spec unlocked. If anything, you can call it buy to win, because after you get HoT, none of the future elite specs should overshadow your current one. Definitely not pay to win.

Also, we don’t even know whether OP was talking about PvP, it’s kind of bold to just assume that. While the power creep is present in PvE just as much as in PvP, it’s not nearly as apparent and there are still ways how to play efficiently with your base class (even metabattle still lists non-HoT builds for PvE).

Do you know if they plan on releasing new elite specs? That would be really cool, I thought I read somewhere long ago they might.

At the very least, they WANT to release more. This much was made clear when they talked about the changes to guardian, including the elite spec. It was when they talked about having removed the two Tome elites and converting them into a signet and a shout.

It’s called, only so many dev hours in the day.

That’s why they should support addons, so we can fix or work around the problems. Spam for example is trivial to counter on the client side. In this case, simply allow redirecting the trading post to a local server.

Back before the trading post was updated, I was working on a project that did just that, which was technically against the rules. I had extra features such as pricing history, searching for components within items, caching to greatly speed up searches and sell queuing to work around this specific issue. Imagine being able to select a group of items and selling them all at once with a single button. I haven’t touched it since then however and originally stopped working on it after finding hints of a trading post update in the code months prior to its release.

An add-on wouldnt do kitten to fix this “problem” with the TP because such an add-on would likely need to ACCESS server infrastructure to do it’s job. That’s something Anet’s not going to allow happen even if hell freezes over in a nuclear winter.

where is PTR?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aidan Savage.2078

Mainly because there’s 3 areas such “testing” needs to take place. Additionally, limited number of players, means that there’s hardly sufficient testing. THAT means anet’s making the right choice of incremental updates to the live game where they have the entire playerbase able to much around with the changes and provide feedback.

There are a lot of bugs in this game which could be easily avoided if there was more testing.

And I’m fairly certain Santa’s my uncle. Point is, there arent. More testing doesnt mean you’re going to be able to fix those bugs in any sort of quick fashion. If you’re an older player of the game, you’ll know how it was possible to bug teq by “overburning” it’s health, causing it to fly away and never come back. Now, however, it goes invulnerable to PREVENT that bug from happening. It took them, I believe…. 4 iterations of “fixes” for them to actually quash that bug. You know why that bug wasnt discovered earlier in the game’s life? Because there are some bugs that dont show up unless you have extremely specific circumstances- such as a group of 120-150 people organized on Teamspeak pounding on teq so hard it farts kittens. Such a group would be capable of inflicting faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more damage than a typical “pug map” can due to being so organized.

Putting a time limit on orders is irrelevant and if anything would only make markets less fluid. This is inconvenient and distortionary with no upside as I can see it.

In game market tools? I could take it or leave it. Things like average price over the past 24 hours would be a useful tool, but pulling full graphic price histories are better served by 3rd party sites – that’s not always needed, and would be a big strain on the server to pull regularly whenever anyone looks at an item. There’s an important trade-off between being informative and keeping your UI parsimonious, and I don’t have a strong opinion on the state of the in-game UI in that regard.

1. I can buy unlimited items off the Tp without any server limitations- FALSE
2. I can pick up unlimited items into my inventory from the TP without any server limitations – FALSE
3. I can set arbitrary buy order prices at unlimited speed without server limitations. – FALSE

It might be better if you are a bit more specific, these would be true even if there was a limit of 2 billion items for buy and 100 items for sell, ofcourse making you a donkey in the process :P

Odds are because of the fact that when you’re selling items, the server has to make sure there’s no conflicting sales attempting to make a sale at the same time. While I’m no where near 100% (let alone 10%) confident this IS true, my guess is that the tradepost isnt actually doing instantaneous transactions. Sure we get gold and lose the item instantly and vice versa, but I think the TP server is taking a successive list of transactions in a given timeframe (say, 5 seconds) and running a FIFO transaction method with the transactions based on current stock. It’s probably using a predictive method in addition in this case to make sure it’s not giving out “fake” gold or items. But of course, this is also probably entirely wrong. Who knows.

How Do you Feel About Multiple Guilds?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Definitely in favor of it. If anything I think 5 is too few. If you’re limited to 1 guild then it becomes an absolute must to separate them between characters. As it is, if you wish to focus you’re entire efforts with one guild, you have the option to do so. Trying to force others to do the same is silly and wouldn’t work anyway – with different characters they’d join different guilds and they’d still divide their efforts.

Its very easy to stop that (a rule im getting close to putting in our guild)
If you un-represent and are caught = gkick

Yes, because your guild totally does everything in the game. Maybe they stop repping your guild outside of pvp because you DONT do stuff outside of pvp? I wish you would put that “rule” in place. I bet your guild would fall apart pretty quickly.

I’ve said this elsewhere before, but I don’t remember where.

Personally, I would recommend to NOT reduce it. As it is now, once people get over the nuisance factor, it can play a part in motivating them to actually LOOK at prices instead of spam clicking. The few times I’ve had it come up are in situations where the large amount of materials I’m selling have a negligible difference between buys and sells (on the order of coppers) and I simply go for insta-sells.

There is also no point salvaging rares under lvl 76 as they give no ectos so yes selling is your best bet.

Wrong on both counts. It’s rares under level 66. As for materials, they’re actually BETTER to sell than individual items, as a stack of X size counts as one item, not X items. As a result, salvaging is generally the superior option anyways.

Anet is aware of that, but because they don’t support email trades, it keeps them from having to devote resources to dealing with scams. Instead, they offer the trading post as a scamproof means of trade and, although it has limitations, it’s a much safer option that also keeps inflation in check by removing gold from circulation.

I literally just saw you in a thread about tribulation mode sales, which relies on people actually paying gold or giving what is owed for said gold. This is a form of a transaction. A trade, only for services instead of items. They stated that “as long as people get what is owed, we have no issue with it.” Thus, they do support mail trades, and as such do have to devote resources to dealing with scams, were people to try and scam others through the mailing system. The ONLY foreseeable issue that comes from this is the lack of a tax cut through this sort of system. But again, the mail system eliminates the tax cut as well. It just leaves more room for scams.

They dont, and wont, devote resources to resolving scams from “mail trades” beyond the resources required to remove the gold/items wrongfully gained, and then sanctioning the twitheaded fool who tried to get away with it.

You need to salvage some of that nonsense. I only get the flood wall message when I’m selling tons of stacks of iron ore or something I know is ridiculous.

Get yourself some essences of luck and some mats you can sell later. (If you don’t like getting all those minor runes remember to use a basic salvage kit or a copper salvage-o-matic to reduce the chance of getting garbage.

I salvage the ones I can’t sell. But I’d rather have the money than materials, and certainly more than luck.

Edit: And yes I know if I salvage certain things and wait until the right time to sell the materials I can make more profit in the long-term but as mentioned above I just want a quick turn-over.

Salvage white-green crap, deposit the results. When the results start NOT depositing, go to a bank and sell a stack. White-green items almost NEVER sell for an amount worth the time to list them. You’re better off salvaging them and selling the materials.

Leaving your character afk for extended periods of time and letting the AI rack up kills for you is allowed? Good to know.

Honestly I don’t think it something that Anet wants.
It’s just something that is impossible to enforce.

After all enforcing a rule against that behavior would basically mean that rangers are not allowed to afk while everyone else can.

The game has ways of logging your activity, and my guess is the GMs/Support can review those logs. So if all they see for 4 hours is “healhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealhealetc” then they know you werent legitimately playing the game.

‘Sides, they’ve already removed other bunker category stat types from pvp, why would they bother adding another one when it’s clear they want a REDUCTION in bunker builds?

QoL Idea: Account bound World Map Completion

One issue: needs to be optional. Some people do like doing map completion.
Second issue: all possibility of crafting Legendaries need to be removed from those chars that have automatic map completion, unless they get a Gift of Exploration from another char.

To your first issue, totally agree. And for your second, you’re right. I didn’t think of that. But that’s only because I’ve been doing the 3 tiers of crafting the legendaries, not the mystic forge approach.

You do realize… that you STILL need the gift of exploration to craft it right? The 3-part collections ONLY GIVE THE PRECURSOR. You get nothing else related to crafting the final legendary.

edit: and I say this as someone who crafted Kudzu via the collections.

IMO, what would be a bit better is an additional tooltip info that tells you, based on your current target, the % of the defiance bar will be affected by your CC skills.

65% actually, with food and runes.

Nah. With runes and food, it’s already easy enough to get a massive condition duration reduction. Pointless to add stats for it.

E-mail stating my PW has been changed?

Do you have the SMS or other warning system that someone is trying to access your account? Is it this account? You have to use your password to log on to the forum so it can’t have changed.

At any rate, since you’re on the forum here you can go to the password change site and change your password if you wish.

I do have the SMS active and did not receive a message so I’m not too worried about it. I just found it odd to actually come from the official e-mail!

If you have SMS active, then it’s an attempt at phishing you. Try taking a look at the email’s source (the actual email address) as opposed to whatever these people are trying to pass it off as. The other and vastly unlikely scenario is that they successfully guessed the random key you were sent in the time before it was invalidated.

This is allowed behavior; as it was designed to function that way.

Despite the fact it probably falls under “unattended gameplay”?

Pretty sure they’ve been trying that for a while now.
