It is intentional. I believe it resets at midnight UTC, but I’m not sure about that. It is the case that you can loot the chests 1 time per day per account, not per 24 hours. So if you log on right before the reset, it should work fine.

We could have a mesmer-meetup!

Ok so I did tkitten JP late last night around 2-3am on my Elementalist. Its now 3:20pm in the afternoon, and I could open it again on my Thief. However, when taking my Engineer after my Thief I couldn’t open it.

So this leaves two possibilities:

1. It resets after 12 hours.
2. It resets at midnight.

Evidently I’m not that observant, but I don’t generally pay attention to this kind of change. I know there was the whole hoo-hah about the Eternal Battlegrounds puzzle and queue space, new instance was made etcetc us WvW players rejoiced. I know they made the puzzle a once a day per account thing.

What I missed was them doing the same to the borderland puzzles? I used to hop up there with my 19 characters in the wee hours of the morning when nobody was around to pick up some free siege for guild raids. I’m assuming now I can’t?

It’s going on 4am and my sleep deprived brain cannot figure out if this is an intentional change from Captain ANet, or it’s bugged, or I need to wait a certain amount of time between each opening (an hour or something.)

Every time I open the WvW Matchup sub forum… This thread title makes me grin.

As usual looking to make the week less tedious etcetera. I will be sneaking around with my usual supply of Boxes of Fun. You Piken people seem nice, so you will be getting the majority I think. Watch out for them outside your keeps and towers.

As for all my characters being built for group play, offering duels is pointless, unless you want to be kited by my staff Ele for a few hours. As such, I’m quite happy to accept offers of dance offs, outfit ofc will be taken into account. The more garish the better.

Meeting new people from other servers is always the highlight of my week.

FYI, me and Feras talk a lot while playing. Generally having a laugh at the expense of both servers puggies and trying to guess where the other is on the map. It makes fights that bit more exciting when you know your opponent. Apologies again for hitting your zerglings while you were typing to me Feras, it was a low blow muwahaha.

Also massive shout out to the wonderful two Germans who will probs never see this. Despite us having just taken their borderland, they took me into their party so I wasn’t killed while finishing off map completion on my lvl 12 baby Necro. So kind, I was sad I didn’t have a Box of Fun to leave them.

Just a small friendly suggestion from one person who hates EB JP farming, to another. Don’t go in there. Surprisingly enough when I don’t go in the puzzle, I don’t get aggravated by the people in there, and since the map changes, they’re not even taking up spots! Win win really isn’t it

I would like to give a shout out to FURY, PRXM and Hot. The only guilds I see consistently run alone, the rest have just been one massive blobfest so far.

As for terminology…

Zerging = unorganised players roaming together under a random commander. Tend not to have voice communication, but move from one target to the next like a swarm. CC highly effective, as most are unused to large scale pvp gameplay.

Blobbing = organised guild groups turtling up together, which equals numbers and coordination. Allowing greater coordination in both keep sieges and open field battles. Blobs also tend to have greater survivability, due to WvW guilds having tough/vit requirements per class.

Zerging can be countered, strategic arrow carts, CC and generally hitting them hard in the behind can scatter a zerg easily.

Blobbing is the problem because a blob can easily react to an attack, have the survivability to carry on under fire and respond accordingly.

So there you go, one random woman’s definition.

PRXM will not be participating in any GvG,s as a lot of members have no interest in it.

Sure, we all know that you prefer farming the JP in 5-10 groups. Mostly from spots where you can be sure that your victims can’t reach you. Curious how you’d do a GvG with people that fear to face even single enemys in an open “battle”

I genuinely have no idea what you are on about, most PRXM dont bother with the JP let alone using it to troll people. I cant account for our whole guild of course but im confident there is no truth behind your claims.

There was an incident where three of our members were in the EB JP a couple of weeks back, doing the whole trolling thing. I was told, and promptly let them know its not something we condone when the guy can’t fight back. Other than that, we have one guy who enjoys the EB JP on his under levelled Mesmer, offering ports etc. He ported a group of about seven of us up a while back to get the chest, and we didn’t farm anyone, we chose to let people through. However, it is a PvP zone, you should expect to have to fight folks for your prize… Right?

It’s really quite rare to find PRXM in EB anyway. We always tend to check borderlands for fights first.

I didn’t really follow this event. But when it was pointed out to me that it was on its last day, I could do all of the achievements needed in less than an hour. Includes, 3 refugee items I hadn’t found and returned, something to do with a decoder took me about ten mins, and the dungeon was a walk through. I then did the follow up which took like five mins. I don’t see what the problem is, this has been around for ages right, and was completed with very little effort on the part of the player if they were really that fussed about doing it last minute…

Reset night felt like a breath of fresh air to me at first. Then I was stood in somebody’s Garrison, I don’t know whose, and I said to PRXM in Mumble that this might feel great initially, but this is what we hated the enemy doing last week – and suddenly it didn’t feel so great anymore.

The problem we have with GH’s WvW force, which I think can be said for a lot of servers, not just my own. Is that, when people wake up after reset and see us leading, they suddenly decide to WvW – and we have a really high percentage of fair weather players and commanders.

If all those players slogged it out all the time, we’d have a stable WvW population and would be able to settle either in a tier, or between tiers. As such, this week you’ll suddenly see GH with a flippin’ huge amount of people, suddenly we’ll have queues again and I’ll struggle to get the guild all on one map.

What results is you vocal guys here on the forum, having a slinging match about numbers and zergs and blobs and roflstomping. Its really not great.

Its not great because the (I really dont want to use the word winner, we’re not winning imo) server with the higher population gets no equal fights. Herpaderping your way with a million pugs and a golem doesnt equate that you have more skill than your enemy. Though I’m sure GH has some folks that will disagree and think this brings them glory. Plus, the servers with the lower population of WvW players, get steamrolled into the dirt, which kills their morale.

Gunnar’s has always been my home through its ups and downs, I love the friends I’ve made here in the past 7 months. I know people always harp on about ‘the community’, but it really is fantastic to be part of – I’d just like to remind our opponents that the people you see posting here don’t reflect us all as a whole.

Can we fix the current imbalances? No. Sadly. I have a Princess Wand, but its not working.

My first choice when I levelled my Mesmer was the Shatter build. Turns out its freakingly easy to play, won a 5vs1 within a few hours of gearing up. I like a challenge, and Shatter just made me feel like I roflstomped, so she got a bit benched. It’s also impossible to run it in my WvW raids, my lack of toughness = insta death, and the overall usefulness of her… Not so great.

Two days ago I thought I’d level a second Mesmer for the Glamour build. Spent ages on a spec, testing all sorts out. She’s level 67 and I figured I’d finish her off today and gear her. Now I’m at a loss of what to do with her, there’s no point speccing Shatter, I already have one haha, no point in two.

Do you guys think it’s worth me speccing her up for confusion still? Or should I wait out the nerf and decide after?

Wait….you leveled 2 seperate Mesmers, just for different builds? You are aware of the respec option the trainers give right? XD

It keeps surprising me how guilds that have been in the same matchup for weeks and KNOW [PI] doesn’t condone glitching or whatever come out here acting as if I allow glitching and trying to tarnish my guild’s name instead of having a bit of tact and just contact me.
We have always played fair so don’t come on here trying to say we don’t, if the glitch hapenned then its obviously an isolated case and I will look into it. I’m also fairly sure none of us would even know how to glitch into something.

From my point of view, as an altaholic, it’s frustrating not having something to show for my dedication to WvW. Having the flexibility to fill any role at any time far outweighs that though. Also, just because I’m a high rank on my Elementalist, doesn’t make me a good Warrior.

PRXM was founded pre-beta specifically for Guild Wars 2. We currently have a roster of just over 70 members, allowing us to keep that friendly family feeling!

We are a WvW focused guild, who offers WvW throughout EU daytime and evening. Our interest is in Zerg busting and open field PvP and we work with the Gunnars community through www.gunnars-hold.eu to ensure server wide success.

- We field between 15 – 25 players each evening as a coordinated group
- Experienced players from every class, willing to help
- Twice weekly bounty hunt for that free ascended gear

- 7 WvW commanders, we never run out

- Always represent us while in WvW
- Don’t multi guild for bountys

I’m in a WvW guild, as such I run what role is required for my team. I have no issue with achievements being character bound long term selfishly, but what I’m worried about is having to pick a main. I’m already struggling with this ascended stuff, I got an amulet from laurels which went on the Mesmer, but no idea who gets what next. I don’t have alts, I have mains. I’ve worked hard to be a proficient killer and team player on each class. I like the idea of titles being character bound, when you kill that high ranked guy, it feels good to give yourself a pat on the back, you will feel like you earned it rather than wiping the floor with some dude and his legendary.
I’m just worried about how much of a boost the abilities will give, will it really force me to say “hey guys, I understand we are a team but, I really need the wxp on my Ele.” That would just be horrible.

I can’t think of a way to balance it. If these abilities are quick to do, that’s fine. Let me get those in a month or two, and let me work on my titles for a few years. Blah.

Ps: if I worked for months on my staff Ele, and got a good title, and then made a thief. I wouldn’t want it on my thief, because it would just be misleading. (I’m a terrible thief, I’ve resigned myself to that fact haha)

In addition, gameplay changes are being dictated by those ArenaNet see as “dedicated”.
In reality, a huge amount of these “dedicated” players are ones who will never spend a dime in the gemstore. They have no need to. They’re unemployed and/or students. They have no money to spend. They can play all day, make gold and buy anything from the gemstore with in-game gold. These people demand more because they play more and get bored quicker, yet will never give ArenaNet a penny.

I think I’m one of these people, except I’ve probably spent £500 on gems. I play MMOs because I can’t get out of the house, so yes I’m unemployed and I can play all day. But I don’t believe Arenanet benefits those who play all day. Dailies and monthlies are account bound, means I can’t get laurels for all eleven characters on an equal basis (7 are level 80), I’d love to be able to repeat dailies on each character. Tell me, I’m interested, what game changes have been implemented to benefit me as a ‘dedicated’ player?

It’s not that it’s unfriendly to alts, I think it’s unfriendly to those of us that play solely in WvW guilds. I have seven 80s myself, five of which are geared and traited for WvW specifically, (the other two are for farming) some have more than one exotic set depending on which build I need to run.

For me I’m worried about how long it takes to get ranks for these abilities, I either roam solo or play in my guild group. We don’t really go for the whole banging our heads against walls thing, preferring the open field fights. Will this system reward solo play? Will this system require me to join the Zerg in my guilds off hours? Arghh.

There is just too many questions until we see it in action! I’m so impatient but scared to get my hopes up at all. I just hope I don’t have to change the way I play in order to keep up with the zerglings.

Saw a couple of them running together earlier, but it was no biggie to me. I myself sat with a player from one of our lovely opponents while she chatted to my guildies post fight. Sometimes players just stop to say well done, or meet up with their friends for a lark. Doesn’t mean the entire servers are in some sneaky alliance.

I suggest you take Alphas suggestion and use our community forums before posting things like this, it’s not only bad for your guild, but bad for our server as a whole. There’s no need to flame, enjoy the loot bags they bring to the table.

5) People pay attention to the opponent’s equipment skins in WvW? You’re pulling my leg, right? Well, maybe if your opponent had a legendary that left footprints, it would be easier to find them. I’d notice THAT, but it’s not exactly desirable.

Of course they do. A legendary weapon is a giant “come hit me I’m a PvE player beacon” – if anything I’d tell a PvE player not to use their legendary in WvW. You’ll be picked on for the easy kill. When Im on comms with the guildies, I always shout out a legendary user as a quick target.

On the flip size, I’m working on my own legendary, and taking my time about it. WvW gives me a healthy karma and money income, I’ll get there eventually. At which point in WvW, I’ll be looking forward to when someone thinks I’m easy pickings

As for grudges, I don’t gun for [DW] members in fights because of a silly grudge, I pick them because I know they’re going to fight back and I will have fun either surviving or dying!

Realise I have loads of karma.
Stare in despair at a contested Balthazar temple.
Quick hop to Desolation, two things can happen.
1. I praise them for having the temple open.
2. I grumble about them not having the temple open.

The latter meaning I need tea and consider picking at random another server.

If its open, I hop in, grab my obi shards, and quickly leave again.
Only thing I use guesting for, my timing is never impeccable enough to actually help with any temple events. So it’s just a quick in and out, it’s what most of us do. No friends on there either.

My lovely guildies, bless them, decided they wanted to run bounties blind. We’re a WvW guild of around 15-25 depending on the day, and boy did we have fun. First one we got was Diessa, which melted quickly but took a while to find – by the time we moved to Brisbane, we didn’t have enough time to down the second one. Needless to say, we were under a false sense of security from the first, and piling on him without a plan was the worst idea ever.

So after everyone had a good laugh, we spawned some of those crafting tables in the jungle (very confusing) had a cuppa tea and set off another. Being more prepared we made sure we read our targets abilities before engaging and didn’t have an issue with it and successfully claimed our merits.

It was so different from our usual WvW heavy evenings, and so refreshing. The riddles you get are great, really makes you glad you spent that time doing map completion as it makes you realise you know Tyria a whole lot better than you thought.

I think the advantage we have, is that throughout the day if people log in the game to WvW, the first thing they will do is ask for a group spot. We are always grouping, and maximising our influence gain. Tonight for example, a few of us made new characters and ventured into Queensdale as a group of 5. This focus on working on influence for your guild really fosters that guild spirit, and makes people want to work together.

Saying that, I still sank 20g into influence this afternoon. Ouch.

Our only concern now, is this multiple guilds per target issue. Everything else will come with time
