I’m getting wrecked by scrappers on the regular…just wondering if there’s any method or tips I should be adhering to when going up against one in spvp. I’m running S/D DA/TRICK/DD with marauder and pack runes.
Most other classes I can handle/beat or it’s at least a close fight when I lose, but most scrappers end me fairly quickly without losing more than 20% of their hp.
How are you guys dealing with them?
I like the build, but what is the point of CiS when both sets have blind access? SRej would be so much more useful.
You don’t really spend too long in stealth. It just gives steal an extra blind in case they’ve got stability going. You can use both – it doesn’t make a massive difference.
Srej is generally more useful. But you should never underestimate CiS on D/P. Like meepeY said it triggers blind when you gain stealth through hidden thief. Furthermore when you get the pulses in refuge and, what is very interesting, with black powder + heartseeker – combo.
Lets say you lay down your black powder and blind the enemy the first time. He tries to stay out of the field and attacks you —> getting rid of the first blind. Now you heartseeker through it into him to make damage AND blind him again. Amazing if used correctly.
While its strong I think it definitly should go back to master ^^
Isn’t there a 40 sec cooldown on the proc for blind on stealth??
Wait, so where does one acquire this staff skin?
Great feedback, guys. Thanks for the help. I’ll try this stuff and watch the videos and report back.
Thanks for the reply…
I’ve tried many other builds with limited success. I lurk the forums for theorycrafting and builds at least twice a week when bored at work, so if it was posted here, chances are I’ve tried it…but with my perceived limited grasp on tells and what I should be doing, I don’t find the success I think everyone else is.
Stuff like knowing when to use berserker at 10+ conditions is the little nuances I think I’m just not absorbing, or finding. Of course, it’s common sense to a point, but my understanding is that there’s generally a right and wrong way to min/max your efficiency in MMO PvP which separates good players from bad.
I switch weapons generally when I exhaust all of my current weapon’s skills to keep pressure up and always be doing something, unless there’s a situational need like being kited or having to stun (if using hammer, for example).
Really bummed to read about LB being a necessity in sPvP. Are there any pure melee builds for other classesthat are successful in gw2? Maybe I should take up thief PvP.
My last ditch attempt to get my mind wrapped around combat in this game is to try out every single class in sPvP to get a 1st hand feel for what my opponents are doing. I imagine that not what arenanet designed to require everyone to do and it will be a long and arduous process, but I’m not seeing any other options. I never thought I’d suck so bad after finding so much success in other MMOs…maybe I’ve been tainted by my past experience.
Both. This warrior had me down to 25% before I could use all my dps abilities and switch weapons. Group fights I understand someone is going to pop when they’re focused, so I’m not so frustrated by those outcomes. My latency is good, no lag as far as I can tell. It’s usually an issue with my opponents having more CC than I have breaks if I focus on condition removal, or it’s a red row of DoTs on my debuff bar and all the stability in the world isn’t going to save me if I’m going with balance stance and dolyak sig.
I can survive if I use hambow (not kill, usually). Actually, I’ve had a few decent rounds as hambow, but I refuse to believe that and that only is what I need to be successful as a warrior. I HATE having to rely on a longbow as a warrior. It’s silly to me that Guild Wars 2 attempts to address the melee vs ranged gap closer struggle by just adding ranged to melee classes…but I digress…
I know there’s no set rotation in PvP, but I can never seem to know what to reliably open with and link to in any situation in this game. I refuse to let this game go to waste and quit it based on my agonizingly long personal learning curve. The fact that I’ve tried everything I’ve found regarding warrior is an obvious indicator that my mindset of combat in this game is extremely off kilter. Any guidance the community can provide is greatly welcomed.
Wish I could say I’m having the same experience.
I’ve been playing since launch as a warrior and just cannot seem to get a grasp on any pvp build/rotation/technique that shows any consistency with my playstyle. Maybe I’m just terribad, but I find myself repeatedly perplexed by encounters in sPvP where I’m literally killed by an opponent in a fistful of seconds whereas any fights I have hopes to win are long and drawn out over about a minute…and it’s a struggle. I just rage quit from a game where another warrior seemingly 2-shot me over and over while I was using this celestial build (http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNAncTjMd04ZVImhwJagfgC9M0CHupAQ9bk7lBA-TpBHwAAOBAGeAAd2fIwhAYwRAAZZAA). I’ve been trying a myriad of builds before this…hambow included.
I was a 2000+ rated 2s arena warrior in WoW, currently doing ok in lowbie PvP in Wildstar, so I’m no stranger to PvP.
I just can’t get a grasp. I am confuse.
I too am curious about this lack of popularity for the axe/shield setup…well, not so much curious, as I know why it’s not effective and what you can/can’t do with it, but more so that I just really really want it to be viable because it’s my preferred aesthetic/playstyle.
I’m running something very similar to OPs build with situational success…fun when it works, absolutely deflating when it doesn’t because it’s rarely a close fight, you either smash or get SMASHED.
Thanks for the help guys. I’m not looking for a complete glass cannon build, but this should be enough to get me something to build on quickly.
Looking for a current/up-to-date build that includes axes or axe/shield and GS (preferrably). I heard axes got nerfed, but I’m hoping they can still be at least viable…I think they’re a fun playstyle.
Currently don’t have time to experiment myself and I can’t find any current patch builds that look like they’d work well. Hoping the friendly community can point me in the right direction.

Just hit 80 a couple days ago, have been playing off and on since launch, and since I’ve finally finished the level grind, I decided to get back to sPvP this weekend using my warrior…and I’m just. not. getting it.
I’m getting absolutely DESTROYED by anything that targets me, meanwhile I’m unable to put a dent in anyone’s health. I’ve literally had fights where I can’t get my 1v1 opponent down past 90%…if that. I’ve been playing video games/MMOs for years. I’ve spent the last week combing the intertubes for guides, builds, theorycrafting, inquiries about specific effects and traits and their worth, and it just seems I’m not doing ANYTHING right, as if I’m completely missing a vital part of the gameplay.
I know going into a new pvp scene would have a learning curve, but this is to the point where I’m literally awe-struck at how big the disparity is between me and other players. It’s especially noticeable when I’m 1v1 someone at a point in sPvP, fighting just to stay alive and doing my best to utilize my dps skills and my friendly teammate just comes along, seemingly presses 3 buttons and the our opponent just drops like a bag of dirt. I’m like, “How the kitten did you do that?!?!?”
I’m coming from WoW as an ex-player in a former rated 2000 2s/3s arena team, so I know my way around theorycrafting, PvP, skill effects/stats and all that jargon. I feel competent in my understanding of gameplay aspects that I should have learned what I’m doing horribly wrong in the 4 days I’ve been playing strictly sPvP…but I obviously have not.
I’ve tried a myriad of builds ranging from glass cannon warrior with GS, tanky hammer builds, regen/shout builds and the results are pretty much all the same…I get ANNIHILATED…not a close duel, not “oh I just got outplayed”, not “oh that was a good fight”…annihilated. I’m talking I’m at 0% hp and my opponent is at 94%.
I notice there is a considerable amount of skill lag where i have to constantly spam a button for it to activate, either due to waiting for animations, or server lag, or I don’t know what…is that the main factor here? Are my skills just not hitting? I have a great cable connection and experience no problems in any other GW2 game mode or games…but I don’t think skill delay is the main issue here.
I’m currently using a build loosely based off of this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77G8zHENo4k
Which is titled as a beginner warrior build that relies on adrenaline and burst usage. It’s straightforward enough to where I can focus on other things rather than a complex series of cooldowns and timers, but still not effective enough to get the job done in any magnitude. I’m using Knight’s with a berserker’s jewel, and according to other builds that are regarded as glass cannon builds, I’m not that relatively squishy, yet I pop as soon as someone swings at me while I’m doing a max of 4k crits on an eviscerate (I hit a necro for 8.2k once almost killing him, but got promptly one-shotted by him. I was floored).
Please, GW community, lend me a hand. Give me some advice that will help me enjoy this game. I know warriors are capable PvPers, according to my forum observations and recent paradigm shift after the patch. I don’t EVER rage at video games. Ever. but GW2 was the first video game ever that made me literally throw my Razer Nostromo into the wall. That’s a big deal.

Fastest leveling is the insta-20 with the item and craft to 80.
Can you explain this?
