You’d be suprised at our numbers, we were really only running 30-40 man zergs, the majority of which were on MERC’s VoIP. We’ve been emulating a lot of the open field combat techniques that I saw RG were using and having a lot of success with it. Now I’m not going to put on a stupid voice and say that we were constantly constantly wiping outnumbering forces but it was definitely a lot of fun seeing those large scale combat techniques pushed into play effectively

Waha is amazing, but FOO run with zergs of equal or greater size. I’ve seen Waha being able to sit close to 70 people guarding one treb location, was pretty nuts.

Liyrc, all I can say is that I’ve learned more from RG about open field tactics than I have from any NA server since release. Love all your videos, keep up the pwnage.

I was considering saying low, but I know Noc can field a few and theres a lot of overlap from NA and SEA. I was only trying to provide some rough estimates to show the vast differences in peak times even amongst the Oceanic timezone.

Oceanic is more of an umbrella term for SEA+Australia+NZ and all surrounding islands. Most games will group them together because the discrepancy of a few hours is rarely felt, however in WvW, a few hours of offset peaks can be a 500ppt swing.
ATM, I would summarise the three servers as the following:

SoS: Heavy Australian presence, medium SEA
BG: Medium Australian, medium SEA
JQ: Low Australian, Heavy SEA.

You can see how throwing around the Oceanic term doesn’t really mean much as people are often referring to different things.

Going to love the competition. While it might feel both servers are stacking I belive it’s more a collection of WvW guilds grouping together, rather than individuals flocking to the highest server and follow existing guilds which kind of happened in HoD. Next week should be good fun.

We are very aware of what happened to HoD. We are not, as a server trying to create a 24/7 powerhouse that dominates everything and anything all the time. We are specifically recruiting for EU where we have no presence at all. We are also not after a whole server to xfer to us, a handful of wvw guilds will set us straight, as long as there is leadership and people. As for the other server I would completely agree. JQ should be looking for more NA and oceanic guilds and we still need a strong 3rd server, whether that be blackgate, SoR, TC, SBI, Kaineng etc, doesn’t matter. What does matter is who the responsibility lies in recruiting those people and by the accusations made in this thread you put the onus on SoS.
Are we to simply shut down everything until all 3 servers are perfectly equal on coverage? Or send people to your servers? what are you trying to achieve by derailing this post?
Even #1 need to keep recruiting to fill gaps and alleviate weaknesses. I don’t even want any more NA or Oceanics to join us, we’ve got that kitten covered, but we still have virtually 0 EU presence and this thread is aimed directly at that.

Unless you play during >SEA< (not oceanic which has the east coast aussies) times please do not comment about this. I’ve gone up JQ night after night with the almighty FOO and DC providing muscle and coordination as well as many other guilds able to lock down and take soft targets (EMP, Maw, etc) and their pressure is extreme. We only really had MERC for muscle and AFS and militia. Don’t get me wrong though, I love the competition, each moment was an uphill battle that has kept this game alive for me. However, the nights we didn’t have a commander on were usually the nights where NA’s would be waking up to T3 JQ keeps on SoS bl.

It was a tremendous pressure to hold down our borderlands each night versing that organisation. Imagine having a t3 bay, but they’re trebbing from vale. Inside vale they’ll have a dozen manned ballista’s and a 60 man zerg idling around those trebs with supply constantly being run in small teams. Counter trebbing is rarely an option because they will have 8+ ele’s ready to swirl in multiple locations. Front on pushes result is getting mowed down. Stealth/Render/Portal bombs gain us some ground but once again we only get a small window to damage the seige because of the patience of their zerg to stand around trebs. Why not play defensive? well we often end up doing this to delay the inevitable, but they’ll have a theif/ranger tapping on every waypoint for the entire night so it’s a long run back and those yaks, well you can forget about them. They have mastered zugzwang in an MMO and kudo’s to them for doing so. Of course, they’re not unstoppable, we’ve had a lot of victories, even if that means just holding 190-220ppt but it’s a heap of stress doing so. We’ve come up with some pretty hilarious tactics to counter them as well, including our suicide chain portal bomb from citadel which allowed us to kill 9 trebs and turn the momentum back in our favour, despite the many deaths.
With the arrival of ND for IoJ, this stress has been lifted. While you may say SoS has amazing coverage and that anyone who joins us is a bandwagon I can assure you that you are wrong. Their arrival gives us much needed breathing room so that our commanders don’t have to tag up for 8+ hours each night. I strongly encourage more guilds to join the tier 1 bracket regardless of server and give the true feeling of WvW, a constant massive battle. No guild should feel that their absence will cripple the rest of the server; only that their presence will push for victory.

Loved fight BG today on SoS bl when they were attacking hills. Though I gotta say, your turtle tactics don’t work here.

As for the 2v1 posts, I would assume most of the qq would be coming from individuals or guilds that aren’t involved with the strategy aspect of it. Any major guild would be familiar with it by now and have their own methods of dealing with it. Lets hope the week brings more awesomeness.

I really think all you need to know about Jedah can be found reading his wall of text regarding his Guilds’ “Holiday Leave Policy”, LMAO. Seriously bro.

Say all you want, MERC is probably one of the biggest guilds left in the game. Just last Friday they had 200 members online at the same time (it might even be nightly idk). That may not have even been the only guild they have considering they are at member cap. Given that, I can almost guarantee your replies are overreaction out of frustration.

As for any and all MERC’s banter, there is no ill intent behind this, just what feels like a satisfying retaliation to last week. If any members of our guild wishes to voice their opinion they can do so, our leadership isn’t going to stand in the way. As for our rivals, I personally have the utmost respect for FOO and DC, their strategy, tactics, coordination and implementation provides us with a challenge each and every night. Countering it requires discipline and innovation. Last night they were trebbing garrison on SoS bl from the rocks west of Dawns. Our counter ended up being continuous suicide portal bombs from spawn which got pretty hilarious in the end. I think if there wasn’t solid opposition like FOO I would probably looking towards another game.

Can we just condense the entire population into 3 servers and name them Oceania, Eastasia and Eurasia already?

took the sos zerg 45 minutes to take down a garrison with exactly 15 defenders. you wasted 9 cats 1 golem 4 ballistas and i lost count of how man acs. i call it a good tradeoff.
